First off Albert is a true chocolate artisan, not only are the confections he makes appealing to the eye but the flavors are out of this world. They are almost to beautiful to eat. He is so precise and passionate with every confection he makes. I had the pleasure of getting to try a couple of his bon bons and I'm so glad I did. We went to an event at Albert's Petite Sweets for Valentine's Day to sample some chocolates and see how they are made. We had a wonderful time at the event and the chocolates were amazing! There were so many to choose from and each one was better than the last. Albert showed us where the magic happens and taught us how they were made which was really interesting. I haven't written a review in like 3 years, but Albert's Petite Sweets warranted one! So here's what happened: I'm on instagram and I see a video of someone I follow opening a box of Albert's Petite Sweets and tasting each piece of heaven with care and joy...one by one, each followed with mmmmmmms and yummms, getting louder each time with a few o.m.g.s too! So I hop on to Albert's IG and see that not only are there more people on there mmmmmm-ing away in joy, he also has a ton of videos of how he creates his sweets! I was so mesmerized, watched every single video and it was his passion for his craft that sold me. I thought to myself, wow, if he has this much passion for what he does, this has to translate to his goods! So I ordered some and they came carefully and beautifully packed! He also included a few extra treats as well. So....I WAS RIGHT!!! Every single sweet was so incredible. You might think "oh, it's just chocolate..." but no....it's not. It's chocolate infused with such amazing love! And if you do visit Albert's IG, wait til you see what goes into creating one tiny square of Pate de Fruit. The taste surpassed my expectations...I had mango, guava, lychee, and açaí berry. Let me just say, having grown up in Hawaii, I was floored that these tasted exactly like the actual fruit! Then I discovered they are indeed made of 100% fruit puree! I could just go on and on...but if you need to send a gift or better yet, send a gift to YOURSELF, check out Albert's Petite Sweets! I don't know what was sweeter, the chocolate or Chef Albert himself. I wandered in to pick up an order and just check out the space, instantly got swept up in how carefully designed the place was. Everything is stocked so beautifully, the candy looks like art, and it's so reasonably priced. Truly max flavor for its size and cost, so if you wanna pick up a luxury gift without breaking the bank... this is it. Also Chef Albert happened to walk by and just told me a little about everything. So kind, so approachable, down to Earth, funny, etc. And he gave me samples of some of his sweets. Should have taken more pictures but the purple chocolate with a delicious fruity filling was so carefully balanced and flavorful without being cloying, the jelly cube I swear tested like a grown up version of Mexican candy my abuelita use to give me, and I tried incredibly crunchy yummy freezed dried skittles for the first time ever! It was honestly an eclectic mix of incredible sweets that screams accessible luxury without the pretentiousness. And in case I have to say it again. Chef Albert is an absolute darling and if see him around, he's more than happy to tell you all about incredible passion and talent. Also as a side note, mind blown that the Natural History museum lent him a REAL raptor claw for him to mold and create epic chocolate claws that he now sells at different museums! I met Albert at a chocolate festival and had the ABSOLUTE pleasure to taste his chocolates and his pâte de fruits and WOW! I am a chocolate person -- like, go to Belguim for the best quality chocolates kind of person. I was blown away by Albert's creations on every level -- deliciousness, flavor balance, texture, uniqueness, and beauty. His strawberry ganache feuilletine is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Period. It's super unique. I also tried Albert's pâte de fruits -- all delicious -- the Kalamansi in particular is AMAZING! It has an incredible flavor that's all the best about citrus fruits in one bite. Again, never tasted anything like that before. I've tasted A LOT of chocolate :) And a lot of exceptional chocolate. What Albert is creating is absolutely exceptional AND unique -- a truly creative and delicious expression of his passion and skill. Albert is the most passionate and dedicated person which is shown by what he has done to create Albert's Petite Sweets (watch him win Baker's Dozen Episode 1 on hulu). This Valentine's day, I ordered the Cloud 9 & UBE-B-Baby for my inlaws and the LOVE is LOVE Bonbons set for my family and I couldn't have been happier with the ease of ordering online, immediacy of communication after order and through the ordering process, the delicious items themselves, and the packaging. My daughters philanthropy group had their annual banquet which is a gorgeous event held at the Westdrift Hotel in Manhattan Beach. I was one of the volunteers setting up the dessert table for 150 guests. I had heard about Albert's Petite Sweets and thought this was my opportunity to place an order...and I am so happy I did!! I spoke directly with Albert and designed chocolates that matched the logo of the organization. He was so professional, kind and easy to work with. I highly recommend Albert's Petite Sweets. I was just looking for somebody who can make extra desserts for my son's 2nd birthday. He was so nice to answer my inquiries.
