Rossmoor is our favorite neighborhood bakery! My husband and I get pastries from here every Saturday morning like clockwork. It's a relatively small shop (as far as front-of-house -- it's seems like a lot of space is taken up by the kitchen and what I believe is the cake design meeting room). The employees aren't the most high energy, but they've always been kind, recognize my husband and I, and have even remembered my regular order a few times. My favorites are the almond croissant and the apple turnover, but their muffins and danishes are good too. We haven't bought a full size cake yet, but the mini cupcakes we've tried have been good! Moist cake and frosting with flavor, not just sugar. The fruit tarts and macarons are some of our favorite items to grab for dessert. A couple tips as regulars: * If you're wanting a specific pastry, come in within a couple hours of opening! The few times we've waited until after noon, they were out of our favorites. * They open at 8AM every day but are closed on Sundays and Mondays. This is why we always come on Saturdays or the occasional weekday morning. read more

Took a walk during lunch today and remembered seeing a bakery a block away so I decided to walk to it and see what they had. Loved the selection! There were a few customers before me, so I had time to look around. It was nice and cool inside which was great cause I was sweaty from that walk. I ended up getting a mini coconut cake. My only con was, I wanted to make small talk with my cashier about my little lunchtime adventure, but when I did, there was no feedback, which was a little disappointing. I felt that they just wanted to service me so I could go. When I go back, I hope that changes. I would love to be a regular, maybe they will call me "the lady from across the street". The quality is up there, but I am not sure how you can work selling sweet treats and be so miserable every time.

My friend wanted to surprise my mom and her husband (they have the same birthdays!) as well as her grandson (5 days later) with a birthday cake for our Memorial Day BBQ; hence the red, white and blue. When I went to order, the lady was very helpful answering my questions regarding flavors and such. I ultimately decided on the California Sunset flavor (cake pictured at the store) but with the patriotic look! It was a delicious lemon raspberry flavor. SO good and very refreshing! We had a great experience getting our wedding cake through Rossmor, as the partnering bakery with our wedding Venue. You easily set up a tasting online where you can schedule without having to call. There is a small fee, as pretty standard. We were able to mix and match across their large selection of cake flavors and filling, with tasting up to 6 when we came in. It was plenty for myself and my partner to try and even take some leftovers home. After looking through their wedding cake portfolio and changing my mind a few times, I landed on the rustic/naked cake with alternating chocolate and vanilla cake with their cake sunset filling. The cake came out BEAUTIFULLY and it tasted so so good. We got many great compliments from our guests and I personally enjoyed the leftovers for the week after . You can't go wrong with Rossmoor. Everything is always fresh. They serve slices of cakes, pastries, fruit tarts, cupcakes and donuts and other breakfast pastries in the morning. Go early though for the morning baked goods because they do sell out quickly. There is an additional section by the bakery for special occasions orders and wedding cakes and cake tasting appointments. There is a small table inside of the bakery area, if you want to eat your treat inside. Customer service has always been good and friendly. Price points are reasonable as well. read more

I am very sad to report this review of my horrible experience with Ross more. I ordered a triple layer round cake over 1,00.00 for my sisters 50th birthday at Crustacean in Beverly Hills for small party once in a lifetime experience. Cake was beautiful to look at was horrible to eat and taste the cake or icing was 2/3 icing and 1:3 or less cake everyone complained at the party and sadly not one person ate it was all filled with icing & sugar they used to provide great cakes. I will never use them or recommend anyone to this place I'm very dissatisfied and in process of suing. read more

I can't speak for their cakes, which seems to be their major business, but I have stopped in here a couple of mornings. The first time we came, I felt that the pastries were overpriced for the quality (we got a couple of cookies and a muffin, all of which were kinda dry but maybe it was an off day). This morning, we were super pleased though we may have accidentally had dessert for breakfast. Their pastry case was well stocked and everything looked super tasty. We tried: Blueberry Muffin - more like a light fluffy cake with a handful of blueberries tossed into it. The berries tasted fresh with a nice bit of tartness, and the muffin itself had a really nice texture and was sweet. Could have been a little bit heavier with the berries but no complaints from my toddler. Custard Danish - I had initially thought it was a cheese danish, but when the person behind the counter told me it was actually custard I was intrigued. The pastry was denser than anticipated, probably to support the custard, which there was a lot of. Guys, it was straight up delicious pudding -- like the perfect consistency, slightly thick but not firm, super creamy and sweet. If this is the same custard they use to fill their fruit tarts, those things are probably amazing. We will likely be back for those. read more

I know they use this bakery also for the cafeteria where I work, so there are daily deliveries of nice, fresh items. My friend told me to try their Almond macarons, which I can't seem to ever find in stock. When I pass by, they seem to always be sold out. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. This is not your average bakery. They do a huge business, including weddings, and special occasions. They have great designs and options, with a great variety, including fondant. I stopped by yesterday and bought an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and a blueberry scone for $6. I was told the cookies and scones were freshly baked/delivered that day but both tasted stale. I have ordered from Rossmoor in the past from purchasing cheesecakes, cakes, croissants and I have been pleased with their products. At the end of February of this year, my partner ordered me a carrot cake for my birthday, which used to be very tasty with pineapple. I would rave about it. But I was completely disappointed with my birthday cake this year. It was an 8inch cake for $75 and it was outrageously sweet and I noticed no pineapple. So sweet that the 10 people that celebrated my birthday with me had maybe a quarter of the cake all together and not one person could finish their piece, let alone take more than one bite. Luckily, my good friend made me a surprise carrot cake which was tremendously delicious and saved the day. I want Rossmoor to do well but this time was extremely disappointing especially considering the amount of money my partner spent on the cake. The whole cake was thrown in trash. After this experience, its very unlikely that I or even my birthday guest who also had high standards for Rossmoor will be purchasing again. Maybe if they produce better quality products that are worth the money in the future, I would consider coming back but for now purchasing anything from here feels like a big gamble. Since, we literally got ripped off. I hope this review is considered to improve the quality. read more

My review is based on the amazing wedding/gender reveal cake. I wanted a cake for my elopement and gender reveal. I communicated with them via email and they answered all my questions. I wanted the gender on the inside and they suggested I can have a vanilla based cake so they can color it blue or pink, or vanillas based frosting on the inside. I ordered a sample box that came with 6 cakes and frosting of my choice. I went with the marble cake with vanilla frosting. The customer service was amazing. I to finalize the order after I decided on marble. I took the shop the envelope with the gender ( I asked for it back because I wanted to keep it and they were so kind enough to take a peak and tape back the envelope so I could keep it). I paid the cake instead of leaving a deposit. I was asked for what day and time, I told them 2/19 at 10 am. On 2/19 I arrived at 9 am because I was running errands and decided to check if the cake was ready and it was. They showed me the cake and it was exactly what I asked for. I did add a cake topper myself and fresh flowers since the shop didn't do fresh flowers. The cake looked amazing and tasted even better. We had left over cake and a week after the wedding the cake still tasted amazing with the exception of the typical cake going stale. We decided to lay the cake face down so only one side was exposed to the open. The only stale part was the exposed part. The rest of the cake still tasted amazing. Thank you again for the most amazing cake. Will definitely be back for our one year and probably our babies birthday. read more

Beyond disappointed with this Bakery, had extremely high hopes. Ordered a coconut cream pie for my dad's birthday and only to cut into the Pie to find only crust and whipped cream as shown in the photos below !! There is absolutely no custard or cream filling . When I called, she had placed me on hold and told me I was the only one to order a cream pie that weekend and they can assure me it was made correctly when I told her there was no way there is cream in that pie. She then responded well that's the way it's made!! If that's how it's made, I would highly suggest nobody ever to get a cream pie from here !! Every single person I've brought here had nothing but good stuff to say... and whenever I say "we're in the area, can we swing by Rossmoor?", the answer is inevitably "yes". Got the following and very much enjoyed them. Miniature Mousse Cake - so rich and dark. Not bitter and not too sweet. Chocolate Danish - so soft and yummy in the middle even though I ate it a day after I bought it. Also, they were not stingy with the chocolate. Sticky Bun - Not too sugary and was the right amount of sweet for me. The nuts on top were very good. Baguette - warm and smells heavenly The people that came with me said they very much enjoyed their apple tarts and canoli and lemon bars. During this visit, the parking lot was mostly full. Most of the pastries here are good and legit, I especially like their almond croissant. However my biggest complaint is they don't label prices on their display. Like how am I supposed to know if I'm not getting ripped off? For example, today I bought my usual almond croissant and it was $4, I don't remember it costing this high. I get that we're having supply chain issues and inflation but then I went on their website and I saw the same pastry go for $3.50. I ordered an 8 inch chocolate birthday cake for my friend. I called the day before, and I was able to pick up the cake the following afternoon with a personalized message. The chocolate cake was beautifully decorated and perfectly baked. It's not overly sweet, and it's moist and light. The lavender flower decoration was artistically done. The calligraphy was also elegant. Since I called in with the message, the phonetically spelled name was misspelled, but they were able to make the correction quickly when I picked up the cake. The only downside was that the two people in front of me took more than half an hour to pick up more than 30 individual cupcakes for their party. I know it's not the merchant's fault, but I wish there were more people who could help more than one client at a time. read more

They're a Long Beach staple, so we were so overjoyed to have them part of our wedding dream team. I just went to Rossmoor Pastries to order an 8" Black Forest cake for my father's birthday. I did not ask for any special decorations, apart from the typical Black Forest style and only a "Happy Birthday Papa!" written on the cake. I was asked if I wanted any special color for the writing, and so I asked if they had silver and was told "yes." At no point during this process was I told there would be a $10 upcharge for silver writing. When I finally received the total quote for an 8" cake, it was $160! I was on my lunch break and was rushed for time, so did not quite process it until I got home. I later found out that a cake was not needed, so I canceled the order. I probably would have anyway knowing how INCREDIBLY overpriced an 8" cake is from this bakery. Sharing for all to know the pricing. Call beforehand to get some transparency and quotes to save yourself some time. read more

This is a great bakery, and we've enjoyed a number of items from their display case over the years. For our wedding, we picked out a 3-tier cake from Rossmoor with 3 different flavors. We went with one of their standard designs (cherry blossom) and standard flavor sets, which included California Sunset, Strawberry Bavarian, and Mocha on white and chocolate cake. Rossmoor was very understanding with repeated rescheduling of the wedding date due to COVID (3 changes in total). The last wedding date coincided with the bride's birthday, and so a birthday cake (coconut cream) was added onto the order. There were no unexpected cake surprises and everything arrived on time and as-ordered. The cakes look exactly how they appear in the design booklet - impeccably decorated and eye-catching. They held up well in the several hours between initial delivery and cake-cutting at the wedding and looked fabulous in photos. They also tasted quite amazing and true to how they were at our tasting back in 2019. Of special note was the coconut cream birthday cake--we were so blown away by how delicious it was that we've settled on buying another one next year to relive the experience. read more

I hired this bakery for my wedding cake as they were most highly recommended to me from the list of cake vendors from my wedding reception venue. At the time I scheduled with them, they were not doing cake tastings at the bakery due to covid, but we were still able to pick up six tastings for my now husband and me to try at home. We had six tastings after combining options from a variety of cake and frosting flavors. All of the communication with this shop was done via text. I sent them photos of cakes I liked from their website so I could see pricing. Ultimately, I chose to combine 2 cake designs into one and was very happy with the cake design. Communication with this bakery was very quick and efficient. The taste of the cake was not out-of-this-world amazing, but it was great for traditional wedding cake. I would recommend them to others as they made the cake process easier for us, especially as they worked directly with the reception venue to get the cake delivered. read more

My mom loves petit fours and growing up, we would always got them from any bakery that had them, but it's very hard nowadays to find a bakery that makes them correctly and not with white chocolate...
