I think this Albertsons needs to work on their customer service skills and the store's overall cleanliness. I used to live close by some years back and it used to be alright. They might be short staffed? The items seemed like they weren't in the right places. It was just a mess and super disorganized. I had a hard time looking around. Dealing with their employees also wasn't fun. One of the employees near the shopping carts was in a bad mood, making faces, huffing and puffing. I picked a shopping cart and he rudely told me not to get the cart I picked? I couldn't really hear what he was mumbling but I think maybe he hadn't wiped it down? They didn't have a couple of items I was looking for. That's not what upset me. I was upset with the way that employee was acting and the store being such a mess. I won't return! I would go to another Albertsons. There's several of them around town. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I (finally) found most of the items I was looking for. Your typical Albertsons (the equivalent of HEB). Deli, bakery, butcher block, florist, and a pharmacy. I haven't had the smell issue and I've been going here for a couple of years. Keep in mind Albertsons philosophy is they can charge more because they have better customer service (although I think Walmart's customer service is exactly the same). If you buy items fresh or on sale than pricing is moderate, but they don't exactly have the best everyday prices. I do appreciate their produce section especially in a city like El Paso that's littered with Big8's and the like with horrific produce. Most of the time produce is priced competitively. Lines don't get as long as most Walmart's, but be prepared for a small wait during peak hours. read more

Eeeeeek just saw roaches near the bakery! Big gasp! Other than the roach today, I was pretty comfortable shopping here. Now actually observing the open food and how dirty it is along with the roach I'm pretty grossed out. Not sure I'll buy baked goods here. Hope the butcher shop is a little better. Too bad I can't go back there. Typically have lines. But, can't be worse than Commissary. read more

We Humans are so fortunate to have reliable food sources (markets, (grocery)stores, c-stores, etc.) around the World--certainly has helped our earthly population to expand to 7.5 billion+. But on an much more immediate level, I was able to go to a local excellent Albertsons (yucky Yarbrough & marvelous Montwood) to add several more great bananas to my larder. Fortunately, cashier Kristen was ready to check me through. Her cheerful attitude--even whilst she is 99% recovered from illness--will definitely make the fruit taste better! I've always appreciated good healthy eats from this fine store, which is true at all Albertsons. Thank you! read more

They finally finished remodeling the place, looks like a new store. Some things have been rearranged though. Eggs and bacon and other breakfast items are now at the back, far left-side! I thought they would have the bakery section bigger, not that I can shop in that area. They also added the chicken wings steam table, like the one on Montwood. They have hot wings, fried wings, teriyaki wings, chicken garlic wings, and more! They also added a hot soup section, serving 3 different soups, plus a section of cold soups. I wanted to buy some, but the calories & prices are what distracted me. Don't forget to download the Albertson's App, they have good deals & coupons! Much better than Big 8 and Food King. read more

Pretty much the standard selection of groceries you can expect from any Albertsons, decent quality, nothing out of the ordinary. Beware that it does get really crowded during peak hours, so if you need to buy something and are looking to avoid crowds, this location might not be a good alternative. read more

I live a lot closer to the Montwood/ Dieter location but I rather shop at this site. The people working there are very nice. Their prices are moderate but what I love the most is the quality of their meats and produce. I could price match their meat with Wal-mart or Big * but the quality and freshness would not compare. I just started coming here for about the past year when I stopped by to buy some cokes. The store is always clean and to this day every visit has been a great experience. ***One more thing their bakery can make very tasty cakes and I am not talking about the ordinary cakes. We ordered a cake for a baby shower and the cake was beautifully decorated. They made it out of pineapple with fresh kiwi in the middle... I hardly patron Albertsons but they had great coupons so I came today. (Mind you I work in customer service and I compliment as well as I criticize.) I know it is the day before Christmas. I know everyone is busy. I know they probably don't want to be at work today. That's why I make a conscious effort to be extra polite and extra considerate to all as I navigate the stores. However, during today's visit I interacted with 3 three different employees who were plain rude. First register lady rushed through my purchases and forgot to scan one of my coupons. I don't think she ever looked at me. Second lady responded to my questions about pricing of the floral arrangements in a passive aggressive manner while never even looking me in the eye. Third gentleman at the register was the worst. As I explained the overcharge made by the previous register his first statement to me in an accusatory way was, "did you show her the coupon?". The other employees I interacted with during my visit surely didn't impress me either. Never a greeting, never a smile. Take that back, the young lady bringing in the carts. She was courteous. I give credit to the manager for seeing me quickly and defending her employees as "not all rude". She did listen and reassure me. I hope they improve their employee training. In the meantime, I think I will skip the coupon opportunities next time. read more

Hands down the worst Albertson's I have ever visited... Yesterday, I had the unfortunate pleasure of visiting this particular Albertson's and made the mistake of purchasing boneless chicken thighs. I went straight home and began preparing my family's dinner. As soon as I opened this container of Sanderson Farms boneless chicken thighs, I was immediately hit with the odor of decaying fish. My first thought was "is this for real?" After asking other family members if they smelled the same thing, including my wife who is 9 months pregnant it was confirmed the chicken was bad. I returned to the Albertson's and approached the customer service counter at the front of the store. As soon as I opened the tied Albertson's bag to show the cashier the chicken, I smelled the overwhelming stench of fish a second time. I informed the cashier of the problem and was told to retrieve a second container of chicken marked at the same price. I returned with a second container of the exact same chicken with the exact same price. This time I asked the cashier if I may open the container in front of her to verify the chicken was ok before going home. I was told "go ahead" I smelled the exact same odor in the second package just not as strong as the first. I was then told by this cashier "that's the way chicken smells!" Uh... WTF I have never ever smelled chicken like that. She then became condescending and began to belittle me as to how chicken should smell. Mind you I am a 31 year old man and have been cooking for years now. I know chicken does not smell like this on a usual basis. I don't know what is going on with Albertson's but this particular store was beyond terrible. Beware of the meat department. Had I listened to this cashier/store rep I would have risked not only my health but the health of my wife and unborn child. Completely unprofessional. I will not be returning and I have made it a point to inform all who know me to never visit this overpriced, unsanitary store either. read more

I was visiting from out of town and where I live we do not have Albertsons. I was shocked at the prices; too expensive. My grocery bill was twice the amount as normal and I had purchased the usual foods I normally buy back home. Now I know to bring food with me rather than shop here. read more

A pretty nice place to shop. It's close and convenient and the crowds are tolerable. The parking lot is a nightmare though.
