When coming to Palm Springs for the weekend, there will always be a reason to go shopping for things you forgot to bring. This Albertsons is near Rocky's Pizza so we stop and shop here often. In the past we've been fortunate to find swim goggles, sandals, cookies, eggs, beer, and treats and snacks. We only needed some drinks, peanut butter and some fresh fruit this time. Yes, they had all of what you'll typically find at your local supermarket. I liked that Albertsons had a special checkout line for 15 or less items. I stood at the deli counter patiently waiting for service while seven deli employees all refused to even acknowledge me. There was only one other person in line who was also exasperated. I stopped in tonight to pick up a bone in rib eye, my fav cut of meat. It was $4.88 a lb! Damn good price. It's been quite a while since I've been in this Albertsons. I don't live in the neighborhood any longer, but the price of this cut of meat and Coke products at $2.77 a 12 pack was worth the drive. This store is a bit expensive to do my weekly shopping at, but they have an unbelievable array of products. It's a destination for sure. They have an extensive liquor area, with oodles of wines. Lots of fresh flowers, a pharmacy, large bakery, and the selection of fresh salads, and fruit salads. Tonight I saw something I've never seen in a grocery store. There was a man giving out samples of bourbon! I would have taken a nip, but I had to drive. He was.....asking for ID, lol. The store is very well maintained, clean and organised. I am new to Palm Springs and this Albertsons on sunrise way is two blocks from my house and I am a member card holder. With that said, I will never shop there again. I will drive across town to Ralph's. I had a very bad encounter with "Renee". I was in self check out with about a dozen items. With being new to CA i am not quite used to self bagging. I placed my bag on the side of the self check out ledge and the alarm went off. So i put my bag in my cart and proceeded with scanning my items and placing them in my bag. Each time i selected skip bagging when the alert came up. Half way through it flagged for an attendant. Renee came out of the office after several minutes. Then with an exasperated attitude she told me i would have to place all my items on the ledge then rebar everything. I asked her why and she again with attitude said you can only skip bagging five times. I asked how was One to know that and she said because that is the way it has always been. I said to her that she didn't need to have an attitude with me and she responded that she was responding to me. I reminded her that i was the customer and she worked there so I wasn't aware of the bagging rules. And said it would be the last time I shopped at Albertsons and she responded "that's good!" I spend a little more than I would at Staters or Walmart but I shop here because all the employees are wonderful and you earn rewards that you can use towards money off your total or gas points at Vons. Sometimes the lines get out of control when theres events going on in town but its worth it. And Jade who makes the sushi is phenomenal! Sushi chef Jade is a class act. I have never met her. My wife works in Palm Springs and she brings sashimi salads home. The freshness and quality surpasses most sushi restaurants. Their deli and cases are always full of fresh products and there never seems to be too bad of a wait, if any, when checking out. Only gripe would be the layout of the store but these places are getting so large that you won't be able to blame them for throwing things in to nooks and crannies. Although I do like the remodel I am still not to pleased with their prices and quality of meats, but the produce is always good though. I go there mostly to just use the BOA ATM, Lotto and Starbucks for coffee. Several times I have left after not being able to find what I want and then just head to Stater Bros or Fresh & Easy. I must add something and add a star above, I went to Albertsons today to use the BOA ATM and needed something for lunch, so I headed to the deli for a sandwich, but since the upgrade I noticed they now have a sushi chef? I ordered a Tiger roll and she made it for me fresh and I must say it was wonderful and only $8.50. I will give them another chance and try to shop there again this weekend, maybe they will please me even more if the prices have changed as well. read more

Unless you eat out all the time...well, that's too big of a discussion for this space at this time. Back to Albertsons, an affiliate of Vons Super Market chain. The store on Sunrise in Palm Springs is a trip. A SUPER MARKET for sure. A jewel of cleanliness , chuck full of ANYTHING you'd ever want for home , holidays and parties in general. A very big flower department with a large walk in refrigerator to keep flowers at their picked best. I personally have never seen this display of flowers before in any store, other than a flower shop. A wine and liquor section that competes with the best spirit stores in big cities. Almost any wine you crave can be found here, along with a refrigerated section that had to be 40 feet long. To top it off, a manager took his time and greeted me personally and engaged in a friendly chit-chat for a few moments definitely making me feel welcomed and like I was the only shopper in the store. Freaked me out. (Back in a NY grocery store you'd be hard pressed to find a staff person who'd show you where the oatmeal was shelved.) So you probably know that ALL grocery stores are competitive to a point that their net profits seldom exceed two and a half percent. In English that means you're going to come out of any store paying the same money for equal items, unless you buy only loss leaders every week from competing stores. At that point you have to take into account your personal time driving cross town at least to five different stores. Then there's the gas at $3.25 a gallon. You get the point. All in all, Albertsons has all that you need at the best prices and the friendliest store I've found in many years. read more

If I could give zero stars I would it would match your giving zero f*#ks about your customers. So it's Saturday, probably the busiest shopping day of the week. And you know what I don't want to do after working 12 days straight, than finishing off a 16 hour day? Pick up a shift at Albertsons! First off, the self check out line is a joke, Never once have I seen a customer who hasn't needed assistance. Add to that, we have to look up codes for your foods. Absurd! This is, Palm Springs, a tourist city. People come out to relax and drink, but because you can't figure out an algorithm to accommodate purchasing alcohol with verifying ID's or working with the ABC, these lanes are stupid. Not only that for 60.00 bucks you can pay a human and your customers would have to deal with this nonsense. Nobody, believes that you are passing down any discounts down to use. Sure, after a major EPIDEMIC! But you know what's worse, when I walked up to the checker, she couldn't be more bothered. I asked JENNIFER R. if she could call another checker to offset the two open registers with over six people in each. Instead of spending 3.2 seconds (yes I timed it) to call another person, DID NOTHING and suggested I go to the other line. It may be quicker. So, I go over there. It is one person less, but the folks in front of me have three times as much stuff on the belt. (Oh, p.s. JENNIFER, take a little more pride in your job. Your belt was so filthy dirty I was seconds from calling the health department.) In the end, I lost my place and in the long line with less merch. But you know what? You and the UBER lazy Jennifer lost more! My business! I would rather start over at STATER BROS. than deal with this nonsense! EVER! As I left my cart full, Jennifer still had not spent the 3.2 seconds to call for another checker. As you know STATER BROS. is right across the street, and that's where I spent my $226.89 and will from here on out, be shopping. P.S. It's a super market! what else can I say? haha I've only been here once when I was on vacation to pick up some food for a BBQ. Honestly it was clean and the lines were short at peak hours of the day. When I was in the meat department getting things I spoke with the butcher on duty and he recommended a few cuts of meats that I don't usually eat, but they turned out to be pretty tasty. I came in to try to get some beef ribs but they didn't have any that day. Even though I didn't find what I was looking for I am happy that the butcher was nice enough to spend some time talking to me. I know Albertsons isn't a meat shop, but I could really tell this butcher in particular really loved his job and had good and accurate knowledge about different cuts. I wish the super markets where I lived had passionate butches like this gentleman. read more

I went to an Albertson's in Las Vegas once..and had no issue,not overwhelmed ,but it served the purpose. I moved to Palm Springs a couple months ago, and entered 'grocery' into the ole gps and wound up at this nightmare of a store. Almost every item in the store was unreachable price wise. 4.99 for a gallon of Albertson's brand milk?! Cheeses...unreachable. Nutmeg......a small amount for 7.99?! Not only were things priced randomly and high, but the lay out was extremely hard to navigate. I tried the Capicola at the deli....it was OLD. Undaunted, I ordered a sandwich which took 22 minutes to be made and was soggy and not what I ordered. Seriously?! Go to Stater's,or Vons....do not go here. The help was offended every time i asked a question,or confused..i don't care which. There was one awesome guy who was helpful at the meat counter, but showed me flap meat that was so far over priced, I was tempted to leave the very few bargains in my cart for someone to put away.
