I have been shopping at this store for 20 years and it has gone so far down hill that I am giving up. I go on Saturday mornings before noon as many, many, many customers do. It used to be a great store with happy employees and well stocked shelves, the old manager an older white guy was always there and kept the store very clean and well stocked with employees that were happy to be there. even special ordering products for me with just one conversation. Now not so much... I don't know who the new manager is because I have never seen them. The new employees are not happy and there are far too few of them. There is always 4 or 5 people in line with two check stands open and no box boys. The shelves are all half empty and always missing regular products and moving stuff to the front of shelves does not make them full. Very poor selection of meats and produce. The fish counter stinks every time I walk by. I am never coming back here again the Vons on 25th is 100 times better and it is half the size of this store. read more

During a recent visit, I observed and personally experienced interactions with a new cashier, Sherry, that felt inconsistent and, at times, unwelcoming -- and it appeared to vary depending on the color of a customer's skin. I have to recommend their bakery department for cakes, and I want to thank Miriam, she went above and beyond with what I needed to be placed on the cake, she understood exactly how I wanted it and also had some recommendations which were on point! A once-great store, now sadly in decline. Unfortunately, have to cross this store off my list. Yesterday afternoon, after waiting 20 minutes in line, I get to watch the checkout man give a customer a 5-minute tutorial on how to use those infuriating "digital coupons". The lines were backed up all the way into the aisles, and only TWO stands open. On top of all the entitled folks who unlawfully walk their dogs through the store, with no one doing anything about it. This location has chosen not to up their game to accomodate the new housing opening up next door, or to address time-robbing idiocies like digital coupons, which should be illegal. I used to live in San Pedro, and went to this store often, and now drive over from Torrance, but no more. Hopefully someday they'll put a priority on their customers' time. Will just go to Sprouts, where I don't have to enter a phone number and NO stupid digital coupons, and just buy liquor at a liquor store. You drove me away, Albertson's . . . I'M DONE! read more

1. Terrible check out experience! Usually only have 2 check out stands out of 5-6 open. Long lines, long wait! Sometimes even bag my own groceries to help checker who is doing their best to take care of line behind me. Box people few and far between! Manager here apparently does perceive this as a problem or would have more people to accommodate the shoppers in this large store! Many times there is a long line in self checkout line too for people frustrated from waiting in regular check out line. I'm sure there are a lot of people looking for a job. Hire more people! 2. Cherry turnovers in bakery dept are terrible. If you can find a cherry in them, your lucky! Seems like they smear some cherry preserves on the inside and that's it. Nice local grocery store with all your basic needs, the produce is always fresh and the workers there are very nice. The checkout lines can occasionally get backed up but that's what self checkout is for! Its a great store, I also just want to note that I would NOT recommend going there anytime between 3:30-4 because thats when Dodson middle school gets out, and I doubt anyone wants to go shopping around a bunch of middle schoolers! The code for the men's bathroom is also 1070. Overall a great store! read more

I've always liked this Albertsons but recently I came here and the other managers were badgering the old lady Shirley threatening to fire her for not doing something right at her job, she was almost crying to my Husband and I saying she thought she was going to get fired! Poor Woman! The Starbucks people are super rude, the old lady who works at Starbucks with the glasses seems to be forgetful or something cause she's always asking me if I purchased my coffee already meaning my Starbucks pound of coffee when I literally have just walked through the checkout line. I told her you always ask me that and she says it's my job. I'm sorry but no it's not your job to breathe down peoples necks. Especially paying customers. I've been going to this store for over 30 years born and raised in the South Bay. I don't mind writing comments about these employees bad behavior either. I had to give a shout out to cashier, Gerald. He was pretty amazing, I must say. The lines were a little long but Gerald had a smile on his face the whole time. When I told him I forgot my bags in the car and told him and the courtesy clerk, who's name I didn't get , to just put my items in the cart, he grabbed a wine box and put some of the canned goods in it to make it a little easier. The courtesy clerk also loaded my cart back up with care, which I really appreciate. Maybe by this review, Gerald can tell ya who it was but if not, it was on 1-8-26 at around 4:27pm. With the way some people are stressed out these days, it's so refreshing to encounter someone like Gerald. He definitely deserves a raise and some praise. Thank you Gerald!!! This is where I do 90% of my grocery shopping. The people and the staff that work here are very friendly and are always ready to help and get what you need. I have used the customer support counter as well up in front of the registers to buy batteries or gift cards and other stuff. The store is always clean and well maintained, and the aisles are very wide. This is opposite compared to trader Joe's that I rarely go to. It is always crowded and hard to fine things at times. I purchased produce, baked goods, bbq firewood, and charcoal. Also, frozen goods, dairy, and meats from the butcher and the deli area. The fruits and vegetables are good, not the best, but always are great prices, even organic items. Anyway, like I said, my local spot. read more

I give five stars for shopping in the store, however I must WARN you if you order online to pickup....There are CROOKS in there that put your order in. Watch for being overcharged and items added that you did not order. They charge you double fees and add extra charges that has no grocery item attached to it on your BANK ACCOUNT! pay very close attention to your BANK ACCOUNT! Make sure you check each and every item you order and Screenshot what you order along with the amount that it costs. If you don't pay extreme attention to what you order online you will be RIPPED OFF. It is a Nightmare to get it corrected because when you call the Manager is nice, however she wants to rush you off the phone, because she's busy. However, I believe they mess up purposely to discourage you from ordering online which makes it bad for handicapped people or actually anyone. It's called bad business practices, it's in the order of embezzlement. Taking extra funds from your bank account without your permission. PLEASE WATCH CLOSELY at every single item on your receipt and make sure if you have more than one order you're given a receipt paper for everything before you leave. I went to pickup my order, the young lady brought out my order and only gave me paperwork (the list of my first order) and not the second one. I found out the reason why, I was charged an extra $6 for the second order of which was only two items. They knew the second order paperwork was not CORRECT and purposely did not give it to me of which I didn't realize it until I got home. So check thoroughly before leaving no matter how much time it takes for peace of mind with the crooks who mess up your order and money which you cannot get back immediately for their mistake which I believe was purposely done. Ripp-off artist in the data entry room. REMEMBER: To be sure to SCREENSHOT everything you order before you pay online. That way you will have all the correct prices. If you don't do that, once you put the order through ALL the prices may not be listed which also cause you to be overcharged. BOTTOM LINE, Please PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY SINGLE ITEM and check everything before you leave the Store with your groceries because there are CROOKS who sneak in extra charges in the Data entry department! The first two times door dash dropped the food off in a place I couldn't get too and they took no responsibility for the delivery service they hired. Today I ordered again because I now have shelves I can reach right next to the door. However they charged me 4.08 per gallon for two gallons of Arrowhead they advertised on anthems site for 2.29 ea. I also made something with some refried beans (at 4 or 5 $ a can) I had gotten the last time. It was Sun Vista brand and they were horrible, I looked at the can and they had expired before I ordered them months ago. I don't think much of grocery stores to leave reviews but I felt the need to write this one because I had an incident here that made me walk out (almost) in tears. This happened on Monday 3/30/20. I decided to grab one of the rotisserie chicken at the hot deli section and the one I happened to grab was on the top shelf. So when I reached in to grab the handle part of the packaging, I ended up burning my wrist/hand on the hottest metal part of the shelf. The immediate burning sensation left me in shock while I continued to walk around the market browsing for other things. Within the 3-5 min or so I felt my skin throbbing and pulsing. The pain became so unbearable that I couldn't continue shopping. I decided to just grab what I had in my arms and went over to find the supervisor Juanita who then took pictures of my arm and asked me to fill out a paper. She couldn't care less of what happened. Told me I'll hear back from the store director. It's been three days and no call. And within three days, my burn has gotten worse and I'm left with a blistered wrist. If you are reading this and you're in charge of the displays please be aware that the hot metal plate on top of the shelf is completely exposed and could potentially hurt someone else. There are a lot of elderlies in this neighborhood who frequent here and I would absolutely hate for this to happen to them. read more

Nothing is perfect, and I say this after reading some comments that seem to express dissatisfaction, but let me tell you I have lived in the area for the past 10 years and this store, this location is one of the best Albertsons locations and the best most pleasant market in the area. Yes you have a Ralph's and others up the hill but non is as nicely located, with such ample parking facilities never ever full, non are as accesible and in such good shape as this Albertsons. Yes, anyone could choose going up the hill into that crowded circus of an area as well, but that would not be for me. At this Albertsons there is friendly staff, clean facilities and very well stocked up in terms of merchandise. Convenient management station right in front of the registers where I can buy lottery tickets or use the Western Union service if needed. Conveniently opened til late allowing for a peaceful experience away from 5 pm crowds. The parking lot is spacious and that's important to set the atmosphere. Enter a cramped busy full parking lot and people automatically get hectic for the rest of their adventure. And so now this: Sometimes before a person goes grocery shopping, one might have a sudden restroom style "emergency" situation that comes up out of seemingly nowhere that needs immediate attending to. I'm not wrong. So, I jumped out of the practically brand new car I am driving with my girl dog, Dutch, and we ran inside Albertsons on Western so I could handle my emergency pre-shop. I usually and genuinely enjoy this store. However, they got a new heavy set girl child working here now who followed me into the restroom. She stomped around for a minute before preceding to sca--reeaamm at me, "is it dirty in there!! Is it dirty in there!!" Sooo weird and rude and creepy and obnoxious. WHO DOES THAT? I know goddamn well that those attitudes and actions are not outlined in the employee handbook. Unacceptable!! CREEPY! Weird! GROSS!!!! So... This Albertson's is my grocery store of choice. Why, one might ask? Well, we've been coming here for years. Before it was an actual "Albertson's" (i.e., Lucky's) and even when it was across the road where Smart and Final now resides. We know all the peeps working there, even if not by name. They are always willing to help, the bakery and deli sections are awesome (try the spicy hot wings... they rock) and overall, the selection / grocery options are pretty darned good. Are their prices the lowest around? Maybe, maybe not. But, I'm a creature of habit and I'll be loyal unless you give me reason not to be. Decent alcohol selection (a big plus for me) and the store is big. Really BIG!!! A Starbucks resides inside so if I'm in the mood, I can get my grande skinny mocha, easy whip, pretty much any time I'm there. And... If the beer prices don't meet my expectations, there is a rite aid right next door!!! read more

Having JUST self checkout after a certain hour is not working, especially when you have a lot of groceries AND want to purchase alcohol. You have to buy the latter separately with an actual cashier. New Albertson's is better than ever. So apparently Safeway (parent company of Vons) purchased the Albertson's brand. The "new" Alberstons now has all of your favorite Vons O-organics products, the gas discount system and upgrades galore. Liquor is great. Now they carry local craft beer including Absolution, King Harbor, Strand, Dudes, etc. Wine also features more local brands from Santa Barbara county (Rancho Sisquoc, others) and Central Coast (Tobin James, others). Vons was already my favorite grocery store, so I'm pretty stoked about this new "Albertvons"! read more

This is the worst grocery store locally when it comes to lines and waiting. Every single time I come to this store, whether it be for bread or for a laundry list of items, I find a bottleneck relative to help... I rarely see an Express line formed but even when I do, it appears inefficient and often just ineffectual. There is rarely more one or two registers open and though I typically buy just one or two items here (it isn't my normal, "go-to" grocery) I cannot remember the last time I came and did not have to wait in a long line. I hope they can reduce wait times. Other aspects of the store are appealing. It is clean, the employees seem friendly, and they typically have what I am looking for. Prices are on the high side. There were items that were on the top shelf beyond my reach, as well as his, and without any complaining, he insisted on getting a step stool to retrieve them for me. We had the pleasure of going to our neighborhood Albertsons on Western Avenue in San Pedro. Now we don't usually go to the store and only went because Smart and Final has some serious problems with their customer service. Much to our surprise we were greeted by a wonderful Friend cashier. I didn't get her name but she was a senior woman with a great personality working the express lane. What I really liked was she had to tell us something confidential and she leaned in and whispered in my ear. Caveat emptor! Buyer beware. The employee working at the deli overcharged me. This is not the first, second, third, or fourth time that prices at the cash register did not match the posted or advertised price. You have to pay attention and make those corrections! This is difficult to do when the discounts come up after they subtotal your purchase. Maybe that's the point. I like this Albertsons. It's close, it's convenient, it's clean and well laid out. But on multiple occasions, I've seen people walk in and out without paying for literally bags of liquor, stuff items in their pants and purses and steal. Store employees watch them and watch them walk out the door. I've had conversations with employees. I understand the policy of no confrontation.
