This Ralphs is great and I love their clearance each for fruit I always score some good stuff that is still in perfect condition and I get it for $1 score! This past time I went it feel like they had a lot crammed as you enter it was a bit overwhelming in my opinion. When it was time to pay there was a long line and only two registers open and which the isles being so close to the register it felt a bit tight. A lady has a return a return so that explains it. But besides those small things it's a solid grocery store. They have a great variety of meat and produce that doesn't go bad like other stores. I love their mark downs when I come on Sunday as well. I always find great stuff, won't forget to pass by their flower section they always have beautiful flowers even on clearance and as you meter they always have fun plants outside you can pick up. Their parking is great and they share with bank that's next to it but the shopping center has enough parking for all. No complaint there. read more

Unfortunately, the issue is not the age of the staff -- it is the consistent lack of training, accountability, and respect in how they handle customers and online grocery orders. Ralph's - Rolling Hills frequently substitutes items incorrectly, without proper attention to what was actually requested. My most recent order included five wrong grocery replacements -- not small mistakes, but entirely unrelated items, despite clear instructions. When I attempted to call the store for a refund and speak to a manager, the lack of professionalism was shocking. The associate I believe was named "Sonia" repeatedly cut me off, insisted my issue should be routed to the deli because "she handles Thanksgiving dinners," even after I clearly explained multiple times: "This is not a Thanksgiving dinner order, these are my personal groceries." She denied interrupting me and immediately placed me on hold -- after I overheard her announce she was going to do exactly that before even greeting me on the phone. I called back hoping for better service, only to experience more defensiveness from another associate, Austin, followed by a manager, Adriana, who picked up the call with attitude rather than empathy, professionalism, or a basic customer-first mindset. This Ralph's is really awful. Twice now on Friday evenings they'll close their only cashier line for a break and leave only the self.check out. No problem unless you have alcohol...I guess you're supposed to pop a squat in the frozen aisle and wait for the homie to come back from break, instead of having another person break him. The shitty part is both times I took my alcohol to self check out (with no other choice) and the Asian Male Manager scolded me that I can't check out alcohol there...yea, no shit! The first time the cashier in the one lane that was supposedly open, didn't turn his overhead light on and when I tried making eye contact to see if he was open, he walked away. I went to self check out, and got yelled at. The second time I actually did get his attention and asked if it was open and he said "not yet" rudely. I went to self check out and again got scolded. It's now been 2 embarrassing occasions that I did not cause. They are rude, don't offer solutions and act like you're the stupid one for getting in the wrong line. Furthermore that place is a Fire marshal's worst nightmare. They have pallets of product blocking so many aisles it's impossible to get through if other people are shopping. Is it possible to leave 0 stars? I was on the phone with my wife when she was chased down and asked for her receipt outside the store. She was scanning items in the self-checkout for 5 minutes while on the phone with me - they don't even have a full time "check the receipt" person but he needed to follow her outside and ask for a receipt for some reason. When I read the other reviews of black patrons, it all made sense. When I went in afterwards, because she was really upset, to ask about the receipt policy, the guy knew exactly why I was there and who he harassed. This is my go to Ralphs, but not because of customer service, it's a few minutes from my house. The employee with the thick glasses working in the hot deli area is "missing in action" most of the time. Imagine standing there wasting your day because you wanted to get a chicken breast. Sometimes I wonder why they sell them if the employee isn't going to be there to give you one? Unfortunately for me, I've gone there and not even received help and just walked out. If time is money, the chicken breast was $2.99, but in time it costs you $13. Have they ever thought of packaging up 10 to 15 single chicken breasts, I bet they'd sell pretty quick. And we wouldn't have to deal with not being able to get food because there's nobody at the counter. Self-check out is a disaster zone of egos and drama. They try to control and force 2 lines by putting a bread rack right in the middle of the area, complete VIOLATION OF THE FIRE CODE. You can't block an exit path with a bread rack because you think it's a good idea. Notice how no other Ralphs has a bread rack right in the middle of self checkout? They said go around and I accidentally clipped an old lady with the cart. There was no room with the bread rack in the way and the employees could see that and thought it was funny. Guaranteed that bread rack gets moved. If I was that old lady I would sue them. Not my fault, I was demanded to go around it even though you could visually see the path was blocked. The people working there are trying to make the lines better and they actually made it worse. I'm not gonna call racism, but I am white and there were two employees that were not, and one of them wanted to fight me because I spoke my mind. The other one wanted to kick me out. Very weak minded people instantly escalating. I regrettably used foul language, they said they were offended, but then they started using foul language. I'm completely nonviolent I thought it was hilarious. He actually wanted to fight because I wanted the bread cart moved out of the way. I could have had him arrested for menacing threats but I have better stuff to do. The truth is they're both bored out of their minds and I was probably the most excitement they've had in two years. Those people think they can do whatever they want I'm glad they didn't receive another case against them. Don't even think about complaining to a manager, that'll surely get you banned from the market. It's as if they're all union and they can't be fired but I don't work there I don't know what the situation is. Although, if you write a letter to corporate and pinpoint who you're talking about you could get something done about your local store. It's really funny because bad service is expected at this Ralph's. You're going to stand at the deli, stand at the butcher like you're on terminal hold. I am here often due to location, I am often disappointed. Recently I bought packaged popcorn from the deli area, it was expired and stale. The apples are often mealy. I am most frustrated that they do not adequately staff the registers. I feel like it is a store on its last legs. Maybe it is due to its location. The good: I am not that familiar with Ralphs because they aren't super common from where I came from. I was excited to explore this neighborhood market to decide if it would become my go-to. There was a really friendly employee here that walked around and said hi to everyone. He said hi to me twice. I was able to find all of the groceries I was looking for here. They had some tropical fruits here too that included dragon fruit and 2 types of mango. Their balloon options were great. They have self check-out stations. The verdict: I will come here sometimes but I think I will still go to Walmart and Costco more often. The bad: A lot of items here are kind of pricey. The bag put blueberries at the bottom of the bag and also left a couple of items outside the bag that could've fit into the bag. I didn't see fresh sushi but perhaps I missed that area? I got excellent service here at Ralph's by a gentleman named Curtis who works for the remodeling crew! He went out of his way to help me find Dr. pepper 0 and walked me around the store. Truthfully incredible service and he gave it to me during their later hours when I could tell he was tired. For the past 2 weeks I have had to ask the disgruntled Deli department for soy sauce because the sushi makers haven't replenished the containers nor do they place them into the containers for purchase. As I stated in my previous review about this supermarket, all Ralph's are pretty good. This one is no different. The one thing I will say about this store that has begun to take place recently is, however, many of their items do not have prices associated with them. For example, if you go into the meat department, and for items like hamburger meat that does not have individual pricing on each package, there is no price In front of the various packages. So, how can you know how much you're expected to pay? This problem was recently brought home to me when I purchased some hamburger meat from this store. I had gone to another Ralph's in the area the week before and purchase the same brand and size of hamburger meat. At that store I paid $4.99. I was at this store, and I was looking for hamburger meat, and as there was no pricing associated with it. I assumed it was gonna be the same price that I paid at the Ralph's the week before. I got to the cash register but this was not the case. Here, they were charging $8.99 for the same package of hamburger meat. This is not to say that I would not have paid that for the meat, which is what I did, but I would've liked to have known how much I was going to be charged. But, there was no pricing information in the meat section. I really believe that the management of this store should look at their pricing policies and actually place the price of their meats, and other items, directly in front of the items they are selling as is done at virtually all other Ralph's stores. I can see why this place has such a low score. I mean it really depends on which employee you get because some are great but I just checked out and asked if a digital coupon went through for my beyond tenders and she said it was $4.99. I asked if it wasn't meant to be $3 something and she said it took a dollar off and the coupon went through. It was meant to be $3.49 but after she "checked" I just took her word for it and when I sat in the car noticed I got charged for the Greek yogurt twice (the sale price and the discounted price). I probably should have just gone back in but didnt want to wait in line. Super annoyed though. $1 more than it should have been! Yeah it's petty but for some people clipping coupons makes a big difference in their budgeting. Also another time when I went and they had a power outage and were turning customers away the woman at the door was rude saying, "that's not gonna happen". I have never in my life felt discriminated against.... Until shopping at this Ralph's. Yes, Ralph's is the more expensive option... but it's literally down the street from my house, so I end up here once or twice a week. But I've experienced so much bad service at the hand of the employees, i wont be back. I've noticed that I tend to get followed around at this store. I've chalked it up to a coincidence, and moved on, but the behavior of the self-checkout worker whenever I come in has me rethinking the whole thing. This man (white, middle aged) tends to be working self checkout in the afternoons - and he seems to love talking it up with all of the non minority customers!! I've witnessed him offering hugs and giving chocolates, and having full conversations with all of the customers that stop by. But when I head to self checkout - he looks me up and down and does not say a word. I always say thank you on my way out, but never do I hear anything back. I have been followed by employees all the way out of the store multiple times - I have never stolen anything in my life! I simply cannot believe how much I've been mistreated here. I am amazed over the negative reviews on this location. I go there two or three times a week and have never had a negative experience. The management is always friendly and greets everyone with a smile. I have never had to ask for help around checkout because they are already there asking if I need help. I think people have become accustomed to complaining about every little thing. If you ask nicely, you will get a nice reply. If you ask nasty, you might get an attitude. This Ralphs served as a quick stop for trail mix and water. We were en route to the Hollywood area, and this was the closest grocery store we could find. The store is clean and well stocked. It's better stocked than other Ralph's locations I've been to. We found what we needed in no time, and proceeded to check out. A lot of the dairy was not stocked and you could see filth on the shelving. The meat department smelled like rotting meat and some meat was turning green. Torrance Food Crawl #122 I've only been to this Ralphs a few times and each time was uneventful and the food selection and quality seemed equal or better than some of the other Ralphs in the South Bay. Today I'm only looking at the Signature Sandwiches offered in the deli section. There are no 'standard' sandwiches on the menu. You basically create the sandwich you want, first selecting one of six breads, one of seven meats, one of six cheeses, and as many of eight vegetables as you want. The bread choices were Pane Roll, Multi-Grain, Marble Rye, Tuscan, Croissant, and Ciabatta. The meat choices were Ovengold Turkey, Salsalito Turkey, Mesquite Smoked Turkey, EverRoast Chicken, Deluxe Roast Beef, Pastrami, or Deluxe Ham. The cheese choices were Provolone, Swiss, Cheddar, Muenster, Pepper Jack, and Havarti. The vegetable choices were lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, green bell peppers, olives, cucumber, and pepperoncini rings. There's also an up charge if you want to add avocado or bacon or if you want to double your meat or cheese. In my case I had the Multi-Grain bread which is shaped similar to a slice from a standard loaf of bread, but a little wider. My meat was the smoked turkey, the cheese the Muenster, and the veggies were tomato, lettuce, red onion, and pepperoncini rings. With doubled meat and cheese it becomes a very substantial sandwich. And a very good one. Everything was fresh and very good tasting. The main downside today was the service. I was in no hurry which was a good thing because between the time I got to the deli counter, with one person in front of me, to the time when I left almost 25 minutes transpired. The delays were a combination of factors, the person in front of me wanting four sandwiches, retrieving further supplies from the back, and prepping the items for the sandwich. This is a low-volume sandwich counter so it won't have the efficiency of a Subway shop so perhaps that is to be expected. Based on just one trip to the deli counter I don't know how typical the delays were but it does detract from an otherwise great experience eating the sandwich. There is no indoor seating and only one table outside so plan on taking away with you any sandwich. read more

Most Ralphs are pretty nice, as far as I've encountered. I've been visiting these more lately since the Albertsons / Haagens that was closest to me went out of business. This location is pretty small. I prefer the one on Western Avenue in San Pedro, which is the exact same distance from my abode as this one, because it is bigger and has a larger selection of everything. However, if I need something quick, common, or flowers to bring someone, I will definitely hit up this store. When I have visited very early in the morning, customer service was not so great. However, when I stop by during more "normal business hours" multiple employees are more than eager to assist me. Isela in the floral department is awesome! She was close to leaving on July 4th yet did not rush me or make me feel crazy for asking her numerous questions and "what if"s in order to get what I was looking to create. She took time to spray paint filler flowers to showcase the white roses she retrieved from the back of the store for me. This complaint IS NOT about your customer service. I am complaining about your ridiculous inconsistent closing hours at your meat department counter. It's very disappointing. This is the second time I've come here at 8:45PM and find the meat department is all closed up. The first time I went up to the manager and asked her about it. She apologized and said that someone had called in sick so they were short one person. OK fine. I figured I'm sure is not going to happen again. So today I arrived at 8:45PM and find that they are closed. I asked one of the employees who was cleaning and said what time do they usually close, and he said at 8:30PM! -- yet their sign says they close at 9PM. This is very unfair to the customer. Make up your mind and tell us what time you actually close. I had to get out in a hurry to drive all the way to your store thinking I was going to make it just in time before 9PM. -I don't expect to get decent service at Ralph's- but used to get good food. Now it's neither. Abysmal service and bad food. -I'm glad they have self-checkout, so I wait less and don't have to be treated rudely by cashiers. However, if I want to get a chicken breast, I have to deal with the deli employees. They are sad, slow, passive-aggressive and seem to enjoy making people wait while they slowly finish their task. No rush whatsoever- not even a moderate working pace. A passive-aggressive "I'll get to you when I get to you!" -The deli is supposed to close at 9pm, but it's closed as early as 8pm. It seems that they close whenever they feel like it's time to close, so they can get their work done early. If that's the case, why have a closing time of 9pm printed on the sign?? -I got the salad bar last night- some romaine, chicken, feta crumbles. The feta crumbles were really stale!!! I looked at the cheese and turkey cubes and you can see they were hard on the corners. WHY SELL OLD, SPOILED FOOD AND CHARGE $7.99 a pound for something that should be in the trash??? -If I get the baked chicken breast in the afternoon, it's really tough and impossible to eat. I'm only giving this store a 2* because of their behind the counter meat department. The food just isn't that fresh. I picked up some fish and cooked it this morning and my kitchen still smells like fish 5 hours later. The day before I picked up the exact same fish from Sprouts and the difference is like night and day. I ended up throwing it out and went back to Sprouts today to purchase more and the scent of their fish is barely noticeable. I've purchased other meats, chicken breasts, and the quality just isn't there. The employees are great and have no other complaints from this location, just the smelly fish. read more
