Lamb kabob with rice

The food was good, but I ordered to much. Will be back. Cute until great spot to meet up with friends.

Left-wing dining area.

Alborz Restaurant in Walnut Creek offers a charming and spacious setting with a cozy, inviting design that creates a warm and relaxed dining atmosphere. The ambiance is definitely one of the highlights with the white cloth covered tables and comfy chairs. The menu, however, has its ups and downs. The appetizer Kashke Bademjan was, as always, a delicious standout - rich, well-balanced, and full of flavor Mediterranean eggplant spread. It's an all time must-try! Hummus was just a hummus and partially pull up behind. Unfortunately, the Barg Kebab didn't quite make it being a bit chewy, had little to no saffron flavor, and came with an enormous side of rice that felt disproportionate to the main dish. The drink and cocktail selection was very limited and surprisingly plain (particularly old-fashioned), not aligning with the restaurant's stylish decor. The dishes and silverware also felt a bit basic, even mismatched, compared to the overall aesthetic. Service was friendly but clearly overwhelmed having only one person covering the entire dining area on a Monday evening, despite good number of tables being occupied. All in all, place has a lot of charm and some strong points (especially interior design), but it could benefit from more attention to consistency, staffing, and detail.

We had a lovely time here. We stopped in with our dog and were able to sit in their indoor/outdoor space which was cozy. We split a soup and a main, both delicious! Love having fresh herbs, bread and sumac on the side. Service was great. They preemptively brought plates for us to share, food came out fast, and everyone was friendly. I like the feature to pay online, too.

Cornish game hen kabob with the rice that had fava beans.

The food was amazing! We had a large group so we ordered different kebabs and tried them all pretty much. My favorite was the Cornish game hen and the prawns kebabs. The lamb was wonderful too as was the dolme and the appetizer combo plate. The ambience was nice although as it got later, it was pretty noisy, but we could still hear each other if we talked loudly. The service was very good though they were hopping to please everybody. I will definitely go back as soon as I can.

Had lunch here this afternoon. My favorites were the Mast-O-Khiar (yogurt with cucumber) appetizer and the chicken and beef koobideh plate, served with Persian rice and bread. The Persian Tea and baklava were a nice way to end the meal. The space is large and one can reserve space for parties. Service was friendly. There is limited parking in front, but plenty of street parking. Be sure to feed the meter; parking is enforced even on Sundays. I paid $1 per hour and set an alarm to step out and replenish the meter. Those who didn't received a $45 ticket. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

Dependable and solid food! Always start with their hummus and homage yogurt with cucumbers! Crowd favorite is the chicken barg! The lamb shank and some of their other specials are also very tasty and perfect for a colder day.

Raw chicken.

RAW CHICKEN. absolutely unacceptable. Myself and two other members in my party were served undercooked chicken and the staff did not even apologize. Horrible. They provided a new meal but 3 servings of RAW chicken is absolutely unacceptable and hazardous.

Another over-priced for what you get food place. So many places are way over charging and reducing the quality/quantity.

I went back to introduce five different friends to the Afghan cuisine…read more The gracious Yasmeen had a table organized and reserved for us. We ordered one potato bolanis for appetizer with beers and five orders of kabob. There were no kabob leftovers! Everything was freshly cooked and delicious. The kitchen was kind enough to serve the food family style and there was plenty of spare naan and rice, but the delicious kabobs were all gone. Folks really liked the lamb, but my favorite is still the mildly spicy chapli kabobs! I took a bolani home. It is perfectly crispy after a few minutes in the toaster oven. It is a smallish restaurant but Yasmeen manages the front end well with a helper. Highly recommended!

Not a simple order by any stretch. Getting the owner (?) on the phone to place the order took some persistence, but once we connected, she was fantastic. She helped us figure out quantities, steered us toward the right dishes for the vegetarians and the kids, and was upfront about what contained nuts. She even threw in extras (salad and dessert) to complete the meal. I felt like she treated us like family. Pricing was very reasonable, everything arrived on time -- delivered by her uncle, no less -- and there was so much food that every guest went home with a takeout container -- the true mark of a successful spread. My husband was considerably less thrilled that I didn't save any of the meat dishes for home (he still laments it every time we talk about this awesome catering experience to others). For dine-in, our favorites are the lamb kebob, the Qabili, and the chicken kebob. We'll keep coming back.

We were then seated, the first girl asked if we wanted anything to drink which we did but we never got our drinks til another waitress came and asked us 20mins later. We told her we were ready to order and we had to wait another 10mins for another waiter to order. We got the chive/shallot yogurt, lollipop lamb chops, Koobideh and Joojeh Kabob. The kabeb dishes came with grilled tomato, grilled pepper, rice with tadig on top. They also make this pink butter to put on the rice. Food is good and everything was seasoned well and not over cooked. I want to give this place a try again but they need to work on their customer service. They catered more to other tables and we didn't even get offered the dessert menu like the other tables around us. Also, we had to ask for the check and no one even came to check if we were ready to pay we had to go up there.

I'm happy to come here on a regular basis given how nice the workers here are, as well as their healthy meals (which is a big plus these days).

I ordered the San Diego Grilled Wrap($15.90)- Chicken Shawarma, Crispy…read moreto perfection fries, feta, red cabbage slaw, pickled onions, romaine, tomato, cucumber and garlic yogurt. What made it so much better was I found the Yogurt sauce in the back. It's all you can eat. I used 2 on their small containers of sauce. And it really needed it as it was dry without it. My mom loves fries so that's why I ordered this dish. I think she was disappointed that they were stuffed inside and wasn't a side of fries. My mom did smother then wrap with ketchup which I thought was odd, but she enjoyed it and that's all that mattered. Next time I'll order her the Kabab Fries($14.90- Crave Fries plus protein. I think that will be bigger hit for her. My dad had the Chicken Protein Bowl ($16.90) Saffron Chicken Kebab (huge pieces), SuperGreens (aka lettuce), feta, hummus, tzatziki, crispy chickpeas (Crispy but not crunchy like a corn nut), red cabbage slaw, romaine, pickled onions, tomatoes, cucumber, and garlic yogurt. He then smothered it with the Dill Yogurt sauces from the back of the restaurant. The Dill Yogurt and Original Garlic Yogurt are both kept on ice which make me fill more comfortable as they are both milk products. Ambiance was good. I felt like I was in a Kebab restaurant. You order a the counter and they give you a buzzer. The buzzer will buzz when your order is ready and then you go to the back counter and pick up your order on a metal tray. The condiments are help yourself in the back along with the soda machine. The have 2 unisex bathrooms with hand dryers that took a bit to turn. On. I almost gave up on it and air dried my hands. The sensor must be off. Parking is a little tricky during meal hours. It's part of a strip mall with a shared parking lot. All the spaces were taken out front so we walked behind the Thai restaurant closer to Safeway and found parking. It was a little bit of a walk compared to all the spaces our front, but not bad for able bodied individuals. I'd come back now knowing where the extra yogurt is as the wrap was a bit on the dry side. I wish they would put more sauce on the inside and add a little more flavor to it. I found it a bit on the bland side. Next time I'll try some of their spicier yogurt sauces. Also next time I'll order mom the loaded fries. I didn't know she was such a big fan of fries.
