I love this place! I have basically come to the conclusion that if I come to Walnut Creek, then I must get their Ghormeh Sabzi. So were in town last week and got a regular and vegetarian Gormeh Sabzi. Both were delicious and made quickly. The only thing that makes me sad is that they don't give you the hot out of oven flat bread anymore and they don't have any seating. *****Customer Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic***** Located in the San Miguel Center on the south end of Walnut Creek, Kabob House is a small restaurant that has been serving up mouthwatering Middle Eastern food for more than a decade. I came here on 09/26/2020 in response to a family meal deal promotion posted on the Facebook page of a group called Help Save Walnut Creek Restaurants. The family meal deal was a one-day event. For $55.99 plus tax, it included chicken kabob, beef koobideh, grilled tomatoes, onions, and green peppers, hummus, rice, naan, and baklava. It was advertised to serve four to five people. I called at around 3:30 pm just to make sure they were not talking about little people. The lady confirmed that the meal would serve four to five adults. I placed an order and asked for it to be ready at 5 pm. I walked in a few minutes before 5 pm and they were just putting the order together for me. I took a look around while waiting. The interior was very clean. The owner and her staff all had masks on. An automatic hand sanitizer dispenser was situated near the cash register for customer use. Everything was neatly packaged and nicely presented. The meats were seasoned/marinated well and charbroiled nicely. They were both juicy and flavorful. The chicken had a nice hint of coconut milk from the marinade and the beef was spiced just right. The hummus was pretty decent. It had a nice taste but was a little bit grainy. It went well with the naan, which came room temperature. I should have heated it up in the oven before eating. The two types of basmati rice, flavored with saffron and coconut milk, were the perfect accompaniments to the meats. The baklava was a nice sweet way to end the meal. The portions were very generous and definitely enough for four adults. We ended up with lots of leftovers. The owner and her chef were very nice people. They were polite and appreciative of my business. Overall, it was an excellent experience. The ordering was easy, environment was COVID-safe, and the food was delicious. I agree with all the one-star reviews. This is the absolute worst Persian restaurant I have ever been to. This review is only for their customer service, not the food, because we didn't get to try the food. I'm glad that we didn't, actually. We arrived at their door and stood there so a staff member could seat us. We waited for ten minutes, and no one came to greet us, which probably explains why no other guests were there. When we realized that no one would come up and help us sit, we left. A much better Persian place nearby, Alborz, gave us the best kebobs and service. Please do not go to this place. It is the best around (and I have tried several others that don't even come close). We ordered the beef Koubideh kabob, chicken kabob, tadig (crunchy rice that you hav to try), and yogurt with mint. Try to zereshk pollo (white rice with burberries - gives a sweet and tangy taste). The staff are pleasant and the food is delicious. All middle eastern food is not the same and neither is all Persian food. If you want the really good stuff - Kabob House in Walnut Creek is your place. read more

If you mention family style, your order will come in foil trays ready for sharing. The owner was so sweet over the phone and our food was prepared on time when we arrived to pick it up. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The chicken kabobs were juicy and moist. The koobideh (charbroiled ground beef) was equally scrumptious. The spices were on point. Oh and can we give a shout out to the rice? It was fluffy, buttery, yummy, basmati goodness. Add some fresh warm bread and salad. And you have a completely satisfying meal. Fesanjan $19.95: I was looking for takeout to bring to my friend's place in the area, and went with Kabob House because I like Fesanjan. I typically get it from Yas Restaurant in San Jose, so just comparing these 2 I like Yas more still. The chicken was a little dry and there wasn't a lot of tang to the sauce. I thought the serving of the stew itself looked small for the price, but I did get super full after finishing it, even though I didn't need all that rice. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Kabob House is nestled inside of a quiet little shopping center. At the corner of South Broadway and Newell. I walked in right as they opened at 11:30am to order some food to go. The restaurant was setup for take out. Even with most of the tables put up the ambiance of the place was still very relaxing. There was some light guitar music playing as I took my time deciding what to order. The lady (Zora) was very friendly and helpful as I waffled between my order. I went with the lunch Chello Kabob Koobideh platter, Chicken Kabob platter, Khoresht-e-Gheymeh, and Baklava. I mentioned how the Khoresht-e-Gheymeh was going to be my dinner for later. She offered to have it stored cold that way I could keep it refrigerated in the meantime instead of walking back with hot stew that might not be good later in the evening. How very considerate! While waiting for my order to come up two other people came in for a pickup. Otherwise it was not full or busy on a Tuesday around 11:30am. The food was arranged beautifully inside some of the nicest eco friendly containers I have seen. The beef and chicken kabobs were a hit at lunch. They came complete with rice, hummus, flatbread and some vegetables and the yogurt sauce. The baklava was so good that we ate it and didn't have any left over for dinner . The Khoresht-e-Gheymeh was delicious after a quick round in the microwave. It was hearty and filling. Very much comfort food. All in all, I would recommend and will definitely return. Finally got a chance to try Kabob House and it was so yummy! My family and I ordered 2 lamb shanks, koobideh, koobideh + kebab combo, and chicken combo for dinner. It was enough food for the 4 of us, and we had a lot of leftover rice, salad, bread, and a few pieces of meat to spare. The ingredients are very fresh, especially the salad. The rice was mouthwateringly good, and the koobideh was seasoned and grilled perfectly. The person who took my order on the phone was courteous and considerate. Don't let this unlikely spot discourage you-Kabob House holds it's own amongst others on the Walnut Creek dining scene. It's small and cozy with simple, classy and modern Middle Eastern style decor. You are greeted warmly by the owners (who also serve their guests) and given some warm and fluffy pita bread. The menu is fairly straight forward with a variety of kabobs and appetizer platters. All dinners also come with a small side salad. I had the veggie kabob which featured flavorful tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and onions. Atop their saffron rice, cooked perfectly, it was a simple yet flavorful dinner. My boyfriend got the chicken kabob platter which also had some veggies similar to mine mixed in. We started with the hummus, which at $4.95 was a generous portion and well priced appetizer. The hummus had a nice texture and we could tell it was freshly made. I went there to pick up several beef Soltani, chicken soltani, and koobideh combinations about 3 weeks ago. The lady taking the orders was very nice and very organized. Food was very tasty and everyone really enjoyed their food. The only bad thing was that they use lamb for their koobideh and my family didn't eat the koobidehs. Other than that, their food was excellent. For me it worked out better, for 2-3 days I had leftover koobideh kabobs I will definitely go back to this location. read more
