Alchemy Bake Lab really worked its magic. I came for the coffee and left spellbound! This place is definitely my vibe. I loved all the Gothic decor and dark aesthetic. I love visiting coffee shops and I had to take a little road trip to my Mother In-Laws so on the way i searched up coffee spots by her. This one cast its spell on me before I even read the reviews for the coffee. It went into the GBS expeditiously. Every inch of this place looks carefully curated all the way to the bathroom. I got an iced caramel late and it was amazing! I also grabbed a little bag of the brown butter rice crispy treats. They were very tasty too. While waiting on my coffee a couple walked in and told me all about how the place was their favorite. I asked if they lived nearby and they don't. They live a city over and make the drive. They raved about the little bag of Bits or something saying it was delicious. I'll be trying that next time. This spot is beautiful and definitely worth conjuring up another visit! read more

My fiancé and I booked this bakery for our September 2026 wedding in December 2025. We intentionally chose Alchemy Bake Lab based on their advertised experience with weddings and dessert tables. What was expected to be a great experience turned into a nightmare. The day before paying our deposit, December 7th, I reached out to ask about scheduling our tasting and received no response. I paid the $795.38 deposit the next day, December 8th, and still didn't receive a response after that. I followed up on March 15th about scheduling the tasting and also asked about recommended table sizes for our confirmed desserts, and again received no response. At this point it's been 97 days and I haven't heard anything. On June 16th I reached out to inform Kady of a time change to our ceremony, and finally got a response back. At this point, it had been 190 days of silence from Kady. The process of scheduling the tasting began on the 16th, and on June 23rd, we finally scheduled it. We were confirmed for July 17th at 2 PM - nearly a month in advance. When we arrived at the bakery on July 17th, the staff was surprised to see us and we initially were treated as customers coming in for a walk-in tasting. It was very clear our tasting was forgotten about and was never actually scheduled. The person conducting our tasting was unaware that we had already booked and paid a deposit six months earlier. We waited about 30 minutes for our sample tray to be prepared and brought out. During the tasting we were repeatedly asked for information that had already been provided and confirmed when we booked, including our WEDDING DATE, colors, mood board, cake size, and dessert selections. We were disappointed that we were only able to try three cake flavors and that only one of the mini desserts provided was one we had actually selected for our wedding. We chose our mini desserts in December, and the tasting was confirmed in June, so we expected to be able to sample at least some of our confirmed desserts. The cake samples were not prepared fresh, and were served straight from the to-go refrigerator at the front of the bakery meant for the general public, so the buttercream was hard and cold. Also, despite communicating and receiving acknowledgement of our ceremony time change from 5:00 to 5:30 PM in June, the invoice we received at our July tasting still listed the original 5:00 PM ceremony time. The following day, July 18th, I sent a detailed message to Kady outlining our experience at the tasting and formally requested cancellation of our wedding order and a full refund of our $795.38 deposit. That message went unanswered for 4 days, so I followed up on July 22nd. I received a response on the 22nd and was told I would receive a response on Monday, July 27th since Kady was on vacation. That deadline passed without an update, and I had to reach out again on July 29th. At this point, I had made FIVE explicit requests to cancel and receive my deposit back. Rather than just addressing the refund, Kady made several attempts to persuade us to reconsider, even after receiving two lengthy messages giving reasons why we wanted to cancel. This included explanations about the bakery's low cash flow, that refunds were not something they normally provide, offers of complimentary items and display stand rentals, and a one-on-one meeting. I was also told about the bakery's excellent track record, which honestly felt insulting given everything we had experienced up until this point. While I did receive the full refund, the process took five weeks from my initial refund request and required repeated follow-ups on my end. This was especially frustrating given that I had already experienced months of poor communication and was made to feel like my order as a wedding client had no priority for her whatsoever. Disappointed is an understatement. I strongly urge wedding couples to not hire Alchemy Bake Lab for your wedding day. Save yourself the nightmare and book another local bakery. read more

Love is in the air, but one can't draw from an empty well, so treat thyselves! The location might seem far flung, but what this feast of the eyes lacks in space, it makes up for in gothic, tongue in cheek elegance. And the desserts are just as tasty! Every month comes with a new menu and today my senses were graced with a decadent Black Forest cupcake and the most adorable little chocolate strawberry tarts. Unlike some chocolate hearts, these are as sweet as they seem. For the more savory inclined, the buffalo chicken dip tart shouldn't work, but it absolutely does. Let's talk about my 34th birthday. I decided to host a private brunch for 12 and needed some treats for my guests. The theme was Ralph Lauren and I needed a cake that fit the aesthetic. I remembered Alchemy Bake Lab from the Yelp event last summer and how amazing the rice krispie treats were. I also didn't want to deal with any hassle or stress from these IG cake makers/bakers, nor spend more than $200. I headed to Katy to place the order because the website was a bit confusing to me. The young man at the counter provided me with Marley's number and that's who I worked with. Prior to leaving, the young man did give me a few treats to try, which was so sweet and of course, I got some rice krispie to go. Working with Marley was easy! She accommodated a few requests and the price was very reasonable. I decided on a cake that fed up to 10, cookies & cream flavor, and a few treats that were gifts for my guests to take home. The treat gift set was made up of the chocolate chip cookie, the rice krispie and the brownie. Payment process was simple and I was able to pick up my order on Saturday. Keep in mind I made the order on Tuesday I believe. Upon pick up, I had the privilege of meeting the baker, who is quite famous and is currently on several TV shows. He was so kind and talked to me a bit about the process of making my cake. The team even created the treat gift set for me and that's not something they offer as a service. I don't even have the words to describe how much everyone loved the cake and the treats. My cousin even asked me if it'd be weird for him to just order a whole cake to eat even though his birthday is in February. I'm not a cake person but I definitely had a slice and loved it. They say February is the month of love. This month desserts were definitely made with love. We all know the answer but each one has their strengths which make them unique Okay. Enough babbling. When I open the box a light shone from heaven and a chorus of angels began to sing 1. Black Forest Cupcakes: Where do I start. The frosting is delicious and sweet. The cake is moist and melts in your mouth. And the cherry on top literally and figuratively is a real cherry so be careful there is a seed in it. 2. Love Potion No. 9. As I eating this the song Baby you put a spell on me because your mine kept playing in my head. Considered me in love. The tartness with graham cracker came together beautifully 3. Buttercream Sugar Cookie. This was a hard choice. This is probably 2a. This heart shape cookie has a special place in my heart. I imagine my heart now is buttercream sugar cookie. Perfection 4. Red Velvet Cheesecake Bars. The name says it all. Red velvet cake and cheesecake together in edible bite. It goes together like Peanut Butter and Jelly or the sun and moon or like legos. You get the point. Wonderful 5. Chocolate Strawberry Tart: The strawberry jam/jelly with the chocolate heart works in conjunction superbly. It makes you want to get down on knee and ask for another one. 6. Last not because it's not good. Please refer to the disclaimer. The Rasberry Tiramisu Shooter. I was shot by this love arrow. My husband and I were looking for a dessert vendor for our wedding. We did a tasting with Alchemy Bake Lab and because of the quality, types of desserts, flavors, and the service we decided to book with Alchemy. Their offerings were interesting, beautiful and so delicious. We worked with the team to finalize our choices and a few months before the wedding I wanted to add on a personal 2 tier white cake and asked Kady who was super gracious and wanted to gift it to us. I sent the inspo picture and everything was confirmed for the day of the wedding. Fast forward the day of the wedding - 1. The desserts were super dry, not as good quality as our tasting. 2. Our personal cake ended up being DARK PURPLE. Which was not what I specified to Kady. Okay and that's fine because again like I said Kady was super gracious and was gifting it to us. But when I look at the receipt for the final payment. We were charged for the cake. And at the end of the day I understand they are a company but it wasn't communicated that we were going to pay for it and if I hadn't checked I wouldn't even have known. But on top of that the cake was completely wrong. I emailed Kady and her team requesting a refund and there was no follow up afterwards. I am all for supporting small businesses and wedding vendors who do a phenomenal job. This industry is so inundated and everyone is hustling out there. The owner met up with us on a Saturday (same day as 4 other tastings) and provided us with 2x each of about 13 or so desserts (1 of each to take home for a second tasting). The aesthetic of this place is amazing! They really have a great vision with eating with your eyes first. However, it's pretty pricey for the portion size and the taste is good, but not memorable. I tried the tarts, chocolate chip cookies, and brown butter rice crispy treats. Really couldn't say that I'd get it again. I did have a coffee drink and that was pretty good! I really wanted to like this place but we came early on a Saturday and were disappointed. The ambience and decorating were awesome but the service slow and the choices few. Maybe it's better to order then go in to try. We were up front for approximately 15 mins before anyone greeted us. We bought a pumpkin mouse shooter, cannoli bite and one small birthday cake of yellow cake and chocolate icing. Now let me preface this with I cannot eat gluten so my daughter and son tried everything. Neither one of my kids liked the cake or the icing. They said it was dry and had a funny taste. My kids are huge dessert people but this was not for them. It looked good but seemed very dense and the frosting was pretty firm- assuming homemade buttercream it maybe needed to warm up a bit. The mouse was good texture but very strong on the maple and not quite to their liking. Lastly my daughter didn't not like the cannoli bite at all. She said the texture was grainy and it was very heavy on the cinnamon. And the shell was hard to bite into. I have heard great things about this place and I really wanted everyone to love it.
