I have been going to Vista Optical at the Fred Meyer in Lynnwood for over a decade now. I've been very happy with their service. Dr. Kwok does my eye exam every other year, and she's always personable, addresses me by name, takes the time to review my records before I come in, and is always right on top of what I need and what I need to do. She's the best optometrist I've ever had, frankly. The staff at Vista is generally pleasant. I found they can be a little more curt when they're slammed with traffic, which happens sometimes, given that they're embedded in an oft busy Fred Meyer. But, given that I know the folks that work there, and recognize the signs of them being "too busy", I give them a break: patience, as they say, is a virtue. They're most often patient with me when I go back-and-forth between frames and can't make up my mind; me returning the gift of patience on another occasion is the least I can do. My most recent visit was the first in 3 years, and the first since I lost my vision coverage. Buying glasses is certainly more expensive without insurance than it is with! But, not as expensive as I expected. My expenses were helped by the fact that they had a 2-for-1 glasses sale going on (I made it on the very last day!), and the discount was brutal: I saved a few hundred dollars on two pair of glasses (one was effectively free). Even though I live in Seattle, the other Vista Optical "near" me is in Ballard, and since I live at the north end of the city, it's *a lot* faster to drive to Lynnwood (especially early in the day) than it ever is to Ballard. I called to try and make an appointment and was completely out down for asking simple follow-up questions such as when I asked if a certain number was my ID number (not clearly labeled on my card)-- the woman helping me replied and scoffed "You don't know your own ID number?! We ordered a pair of glasses about 3 weeks ago and we're supposed to receive a call to pick them up over a week ago. The glasses are still not ready. I needed an eye exam for glasses and contacts, as well as purchasing new glasses and contacts and this office was able to get me in within a few days! I called several other eye doctors near me and their scheduling was over two weeks out. The office staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. They made me feel really comfortable and welcome! Dr. Kwok was also so friendly and kind. She did a thorough exam and got me into the correct prescription and with comfortable new contacts quickly! Ordering glasses was easy. They had a good selection of frames, including a small selection of brand name frames (which I prefer). I ordered contacts to be shipped directly to me, which is great, and I expect to pickup my new glasses in about a week! Everything was very clean here. They cleaned each pair of frames after I tried them on and before putting them back out for other customers. I highly recommend this office. read more

I've been coming here for about 2 years now, the women here are wonderful. Dr. Kwok, is a sweet heart and the front desk ladies are the best. There was a time I had to leave the area immediately and the lady at the front desk made sure my glasses got to my destination. On top of that they are always friendly and extremely patient and helpful. I will always return and recommend my friends and family come here as well. FYI- Costco has the worst doctor ever, my poor dad has been batting for months to get his script right. Very poor customer service. I have given this place numerous chances for the last 2 years and every time I regret coming back. There is something unwelcoming about the staff here. Asking a simple question ends up with a condescending or sarcastic answer, especially when being helped by the older Caucasian woman who is ALWAYS working there. I went there for the last time a couple weeks ago and I experienced the typical rude customer service. The last straw for me was when I picked up my glasses and I respectfully requested to simply adjust the tightness of the frame, and the staff member scoffed at me and replied, "seriously? it looks fine..." It's a shame that the optometrist is knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and down to earth. It's unfortunate that most of her front desk staff are driving business away. The only pro is that this location is conveniently in Fred Meyers. I'm going to a new location next time for sure. read more

I went in just to look at their frames & ended being able to get an eye exam & a new pair of glasses ordered that day. They were so accommodating. Jenny was really helpful with getting my insurance information figured out & with picking out the best options for my new glasses. Dr. Jennifer Kwok is a very friendly & knowledgeable optometrist. She put me at ease & explained everything that was happening as she did it. She also gave me information that my old optometrist didn't give me, which would have been so helpful to know. There selection of frames isn't huge, but they have a good variety & I found some really great frames that worked for me. I would recommend to anyone I knew looking for a convenient place to get new glasses and/or eye exams. read more

I actually had a wonderful visit here. Was my first time to an office in 3 years after being treated like a queen in Bellingham my whole life. The Dr took time to answer my questions during my exam...EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Got the contacts I wanted and then when I came back in to get the glasses a week later they told me that my insurance would only cover 20%...I cried inside...but since I bought contacts they would cover 40% of my glasses. One of the ladies was completely busy when I got there and that was totally fine but what got me going the most was the second girl just got back from grabbing her lunch (not eating it, just grabbing it. Still on her lunch break) she came back and helped me....including the whole looking up what my new insurance was going to cover for 10 mins. Totally would tell people to go to this place as long as they keep this up!! read more

My entire family has been coming here for the last 12 years to get prescription glasses- my mom, my aunts, uncles, and cousins and the manager Paula has never steered us wrong. They always contact your insurance company before you arrive so that there isnt any confusion on the price. I always purchase anti glare and 2 year insurance on my glasses so the average cost for me is $250 out of pocket per pair of glasses based on my insurance coverage. It takes approximately 1 week from consultation for your glasses to arrive. In fact, Paula just hooked me up with a sweet deal- $250 for TWO pairs of glasses!!!! I lost my prescription sunglasses (they were stunning) and she was able to order them same day as my new glasses. Im on my way to pick them up today when they open! The only complaints I have is that 1. I did have a horrible phone conversation with a rude customer service person over the phone, but Paula sorted that person out; 2. They did forget to call me to let me know it was time for a new pair of glasses- I'd been wearing my pair for 4 years. However, I also dont check voicemail from numbers I dont recognize so thats partially on me. Dr. Kwok was very nice and my prescription went up just a hair from my last one. I had a very enjoyable consult with her. Bottom line: they treat you like family here. I try to stop by to chat whenever Im at Freddies just to say hello. I dont understand why there are bad reviews here, but this place has been very good to us for the last 12 years and I expect that as long as Paula continues to be there it will still be the place for us to get our glasses for the next 12 years. read more

Had a great experience here getting my prescription filled for my first pair of reading glasses.... They have a deal where one can buy one and get one free and not having vision insurance yet, I also got a pair of Sunglasses as well. Don't believe that deal works with insurance. It all took about ten to fifteen minutes and the service was professional and after the visit I felt good about spending money on cool prescription shades and spec's. read more

I just took a really nice pair of frames in to have lenses replaced. The frames are titanium, but they had a small green mark on either ear piece, same place, used as bend dimension marks. The not so knowledgeable person who helped me on 8/27/16 sought to tell me the temple piece would break due to corrosion, so I would have to buy new frames. As a corrosion specialist, I assured her there was no problem with the frames, but she would have none of my "nonsense". If you question my assessment, look up the corrosion potential of Titanium. Judge for yourself. She didn't know because they don't carry that quality of frame, but to disqualify me outright once I offered my credentials, left me both insulted and feeling sorry for her lack of education and her lack of willingness to learn her given profession. I do hope she reads this and is embarrassed, but more importantly, willing to listen to others. read more

Customer service was less than good, was kept waiting way too long. Went to pick up my glasses and had to wait over 20 minutes. When she finally got to me she just handed me my glasses and when I put them on she asked "can you see?" I said yes, and that was it! She did not even check the fit or make any adjustments. Very unprofessional. Had to make my own adjustments in the car rear view mirror. Also bought two pair of designer frames and did not receive the accompanying cases. First for me! Every pair of designer glasses I have ever bought have come with some sort of accessory pieces. All I received where two dollar store quality soft vinyl cases. Frame selection was less than expected for a large chain. Not sure I will trust my eyes with Vista again. read more

Went to vista to get new contact, the customer service was okay...... But they had trouble with getting to insurance right. The doctor was wonderful, answers all the question that I had and made sure that I got the exactly what contacts that would fit me right. The problem with vista is that they are really expensive for their exams, $140.00 for eye exam and contact fitting. If I would have know it was that expensive, I would have on some where else. My wife and I purchased exams and glasses from this store in 2011. At the time we felt that we had been up sold a bit. We both had issues in getting the glasses adjusted and they never felt correct but over time we more or less adjusted to them. This is not that unusual in our eye glass purchasing history. Just another example of spending a lot of money for something that sort of worked. Today I called them, explained that I had purchased eyeglasses from them and could I come by and have my pupillary distance measured. I was asked if I intended on purchasing glasses online and I said I was thinking of doing so. I was told flat out that they would not provide my PD to me. I told her that I would Yelp about this experience and I was hung up on. What this did for me was to ensure that I would not ever consider being a customer again and to write this review. Amazingly short-sighted. Perhaps my possible on-line eye glass buying experience would be even worse that my Vista Optical experience and I would have a bit more positive attitude about them and perhaps would have tried them again. But after this experience there's no way. read more

After 2 months of wearing glasses from here I notice I couldn't see the whiteboard in class.( The teacher was using a blue marker at the time) It turned out I had the WRONG prescription glasses. I went into the Vista Optical inside the Fred Meyer store in Lynnwood, WA at the end of July 2015 and saw Dr. Jennifer Kwok. She seemed a very nice individual to me and was very professional. At the completion of my visit, I was informed that my distance vision had declined in the past 2 years. She wrote a prescription with distant vision set at 2.25 (my previous prescription was 1.50). I went to Costco to select frames and decided on progressive bifocals. A week later I picked up my glasses from Costco and tried on the new glasses. Immediately, I noticed my distance vision was very blurry and made me feel a touch of vertigo. I asked the Costco optometrist if the glasses were correct; I was assured that they had triple checked the lenses. I was advised by Costco to wear the glasses as it can take up to a week to become accustom to them. I was able to wear them for three days at which time I went back to my old glasses; I was getting headaches wearing them. I stopped by Vista Optical to have them check the glasses to see if they were made correctly. After close examination of the glasses, the technician there told me that the glasses were fine and advised me to keep wearing them. I balked at that and decided to go back to Costco. The technician at Costco assured me that the glasses were made correctly, but he had concerns that the prescription had been stepped up so much in the two year period. I asked if I could see their optometrist so I could get a second opinion. The technician spoke to the doctor and told me that the doctor would be able to see me that day. I returned an hour later for the exam with Dr. Ruan at Costco. He checked my vision and determined that my distant vision setting was 1.75, not 2.25. It was pretty clear that Dr. Kwok had indeed written a prescription that was incorrect. I then asked Costco to remake the glasses for me. I picked up my new glasses a week later, tried them on and found them to be perfect. That confirmed my suspicions conclusively that Dr. Kwok blundered my prescription. I was a bit angered at that, so I contacted Dr. Kwok to ask for a refund, since she messed up on the prescription. She told me on the phone that she would only give me a partial refund as she had done a full exam. I became even angrier and told her that I wanted all of my money refunded. I explained all the running around I did and the massive headache I experienced while wearing her blundered prescription glasses. I also told to her that she had screwed up on my prescription and how could I know that she didn't screw up on the rest of the examination? She insisted on only giving me 50% of my money back despite the screw up on her part. It became necessary to contact my bank and request a dispute of the transaction. My advice to all is to stay away from Vista Optical in Lynnwood; unless of course, you enjoy being duped. It should be Dr. Quack instead of Kwok!!!! read more

I noticed that there were only two reviews for this place and one of them was only 1 star; I thought that I should add my two cents. I got an eye exam ($80) and ordered a couple pairs of glasses from them and am very satisfied with the experience. The optometrist was great, as were all of the employees who helped me out on the floor. There aren't a ton of frames to choose from, but there is certainly enough variety that most people should be able to find something that they like. They had a "buy one pair get one free" deal when I made my purchase, so I got a prescription pair of sunglasses along with my regular pair. I don't have insurance, but I felt like getting an exam and two nice pairs of glasses for under $400 was a good deal. They alternate their special offer also, so when they aren't doing the "buy one, get one", they usually offer any frames for $69. All in all, my experience with Vista Optical was very positive and I would recommend them if you are in the market for some glasses. read more
