This is a good Aldi. I feel like the layout of the store makes pretty good sense, there are traditional check out lines as well as self checkouts available which I love! The store is always clean and the workers are always nice. Also, the parking is good, I've never not found a spot. If you shop at Aldi you know of course you can't always buy everything here, but the things you can buy are consistently lower price than say the Big Y's in that area. Terrible experience at this location. I purchased a bag of coffee thinking it was $3.85 as per the price that was marked directly underneath where multiple bags were placed on the shelf. Imagine my surprise when the bag rang up at $4.19 at the self checkout. In pointing out the mistake to the cashier and manager on duty, both immediately made the assumption that I was to blame for "not reading the signs," and shrugged their shoulders in complete disinterest. Finally, the manager, who spoke to me in a very demeaning tone, refused to acknowledge the store's obvious mistake and continued to blame me for not knowing the bags were in the wrong place on the shelf. When I pointed out that particular brand was not listed on ANY of the tags on the shelf, she dug in her heels and simply said "That's the price it is." This person should never be working with the general public. read more

First off I realize that most people only use yelp to complain. In this case it's true. Not at the store or the contents or the employees. At their corporate standards. 2xs this past hot and humid week I walked in and walked out. There is no way with 15 customers ahead of me I can buy my ice cream purchases and get home with them without ruining the product. The store was hot. The lines were worse. Yes I only use cashiers..and no the 15 carts in the one cashier line were not old folks. They were young mostly and had giant cartloads. If I went to their rich cousin Trader Joe's abt 5m i down rte one, same corporate owner, ALDI..there would be zero self-checkouts and at least 9 cashiers catering to their customers to get them out. No their prices are not even higher..just a bit cleaner store and each has their own unique selection of food items. Oh yes I shop at both and yes the tony Trader Joe's was better air-conditioned. In this heat I did not want to drive extra to get ice cream and pops to cool off. One corporate grocery giant..2 ways of treating their customers totally opposite. One depends upon the EBT cardholders for their income and the other to the Yalie/suburbans who demand more in accommodations and service while still watching the bottom line prices. Ordered from Instacart. Delivery time changed 3 times before I canceled, 5 hours later!!! Probably not Aldi's issue but I was ordering for family. I was told I had someone to shop,but the person dropped the ball or refused the job and they never let me know anything! Never using them again! read more

My first visit I was put off slightly by the look of the store - very no frills. But, I've been back several times since, because their prices are great on almost everything. The no frills helps them keep prices down. Last time I was there I estimated my cart to have about $75 worth (based on other stores) and it was actually only $57. I bought the pork baby back ribs. I grilled them as is and ate them that way. The ribs were so good, they didn't need sauce. I tried the $.29 yogurt. Awful, but I am used to the creaminess and sweetness of Yoplait, so not a bad thing. Just was for me. If you go and want their bags, they charge, so bring your own if that bothers you. Also, make sure to have a quarter so you can get a shopping cart out of jail. When you return the cart, they return your quarter. I love this. The carts are never left in between cars or get taken hostage by the wind and plow into your car. read more

I love Aldi and love this one in particular. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. They have such a large variety of gluten free and organic foods now it's so good. I find the quality of the fruit and veg at this location to be the best out of all the Aldis I've been to and I've been to a lot. They have a nice selection of organic fruits and veg also. The store is always clean and tidy as are the toilets. They have a bottle deposit here inside the store so I buy my waters from here and bring back the empty bottles the following week, it's super convenient. Make sure to keep the labels on. I'm pretty sure they only accept the water bottle from aldi at this bottle deposit. They now take credit cards and make sure you bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart. They do sell plastic and paper bags at 25c each. They also have re-usable bags for 2.99$ each. If you haven't tried Aldi yet, you should. Oh and they have the most amazing chocolate! It can make you turn your nose up or fully embrace it, maybe even at the same time. You probably already know Aldi's deal: eliminate every frill possible to maximize profit and still have prices that make other retailers blush. For the uninitiated, this is a limited service grocery store selling first quality private label products, NOT a "discount outlet." By first quality, I mean unexpired, undamaged and otherwise standard quality products. Shopping here means: - you'll be returning the cart to its designated place in order to get your quarter back, thus eliminating the need for cart attendants; - zero ambiance: products are stocked in the boxes in which they shipped; - you won't be able to pay using a credit card, eliminating the associated merchant service fees (debit cards are accepted); - you'll provide/buy your own bags (or raid the empty box bin at the store entrance); - you'll likely be unable to do 100% of your grocery shopping. There are no cash register on/off lights and in many cases there may only be one cashier. Apparently, the frill elimination extends even to having no phone number. They've eliminated anything that isn't necessary! As you may be aware, Aldi is a cousin company of Trader Joe's and they both share a commitment to delivering value, obviously in completely different ways. They do not, however, appear to share any products. Also, Aldi sells a selection of random housewares like appliances and bedding. Some stores sell wine and beer (not in CT). This particular store stands on the site of the late Gloria's Garden Center, and is extremely convenient to exit 36 off I-95 (Plains Rd.) The big news, which was a very pleasant surprise to me, was that Aldi recently introduced a small line of natural and organic products. An employee informed me that this line will increase in scope over time. To put their pricing in perspective, organic frozen strawberries and blueberries cost me less than the same-size bags of non-organic ones at the regular stores. For the most part, the same can be said of the other organic products. Need more convincing? $1.09 for a dozen (regular) eggs and $2.89 for a gallon of (regular) milk. Go! read more

Fair prices, fresh food, and a great selection. The main reason I go is for their gluten free line. My husband has celiac and they have GREAT items. The chocolate baking mix is incredible for brownies/cookies. In fact. We now buy boxes for his co-workers who have enjoyed the treats I make so much they want the mix for themselves (they just don't have an Aldi nearby). It's great for a lot of items, but still chose to buy my meat from other grocery stores. read more

I've been to Aldi's in other towns and I end up comparing all of them to Aldi in Milford. There's generally a hit or miss in terms of the collection, but for me as a guy, it's essentially like a guy's grocery store. -There's no fancy bells and whistles, like the shelves are lined with how it it comes on the shipping, but its a grocery store. But I like it that way, I want to buy my items and go home. -The carts require a quarter to remove, which you get back at the end. OR just don't buy that much, just what you can carry. OR still, use one of their boxes. They have lots of boxes to throw away. Take one of those. -There's not a lot of selection, but do we really need 10 different brands of the same product? My main concern is organic or not. Will I shop here again? Yes. The only improvement I would perhaps like to see is an express line or self check out (for only less than 15 items). The lines do get long sometimes (just to point out that people buy in massive bulk because everything is so cheap). read more

I loved shopping here. After the one manager left the place just hasn't been the same. Today I had to return cheese I had bought a week ago. It wasn't expired it just wasn't good. So, my cashier, Jennifer wasn't the smartest. She gave me the amount of regular cheese $1.99 and it's supposed to be doubled. I had a penny and asked her for $2.00 and her response was "But it will make my till off." Just because of that one-time it won't stop me from shopping there again. read more

I've become a big fan of Aldi's since they moved in a few years ago. As a previous review stated you cannot do all of your shopping at Aldi's but you can certainly buy many of the staples. I would estimate I save $100 per week with the purchases I am able to make there. They are owned by the same parent company as Trader Joes and the are definitely products that are the same, just sporting a different label. Well worth the effort if you have the time to shop multiple stores. read more

Didn't know what to expect when I went into this market but I can't say I was a fan by the time I left. I suppose if you need to grab something quick and its on the way then it is convenient but if you're looking for name brands you're out of luck. Most of the brands (if not all) are European. I'm pretty sure I went to a similar place in Berlin. They don't have much variety to choose from which makes it frustrating. Nothing seemed very appetizing to me. The thing that surprised me the most was the quarter deposit for the shopping carts. You put in a quarter to rent out a cart and you don't get it back until you re-lock it on again.
