I have heard great things about Aldi. On the plus side, I found their prices to be a little lower than others. They have some products of their own brand which are very good and low cost. On the negative side, the shopping carts are only available for a quarter which is a problem if one doesn't walk around with change. The day I was there the lines were quite long and only two were open. Safe to say the service and convenience were minimal. Be prepared to go at an off time and bring a quarter if you need a cart! read more

This was my first experience at an Aldi store and if I wasn't willing, I would not go back nor would I recommend this store. Mainly for the lack of customer service. But I will try it again on another day. Preferably not during a holiday. This first time visit, I went during Labor Day weekend and I expected it to be busy and it was. That being said, they only had ONE cashier working (on a holiday weekend!!) with an ongoing line of at least 15+ people waiting. No self checkout available. When I finally made it to the cashier, there was NO GREETING, no thank you, no acknowledgement whatsoever. She THREW all of my groceries into a different cart than I was using, which was a surprise. She should not have been placed in front of customers if she didn't enjoy the job. A few other employees were in the store, but didn't offer any assistance and seemed annoyed that customers were even there shopping. I don't know who's responsible for hiring and team management here, but they need to know how the customer experiences are and make changes immediately. read more

So two plus years later I have the same complaint. I was not greeted at the check out, nor was I thanked for shopping at the store or even any kind of greeting goodbye. While in the store I had to wait for a staff member who was on his phone to help me find something. The store is clean and well organized but staff needs work. When I put my cart away I saw that someone left their cilantro in the cart so I brought it in and told the cashier that checked me out and he just shrugged his shoulders and did not say a word. So disappointed pointed in the town I grew up in. So I will go back to NC where people are friendlier. To bad management does not read their reviews. I do love Aldi's but not this location as much. Shoppers Park their carts in aisles so you can't get through. Five lanes built but never ever seen more then two open at one time even if line is to the back of the store which does happen. Throw ALDI in the garbage. This is a waste of space. The prices aren't better than grocery outlet, they don't have a friendly staff like Albertsons and I can't get tacos/hot food like primos. The coin cart is the only unique thing about thing this. Plus it's small and in a horrible location. If they went out of business and replaced by a bounce house I'd probably wouldn't realize it for 5yrs. Not to mention they open so late. 9am?! And closes at 8pm?! WTF.. I love Aldi and have been to way too many locations, and this one is no different! I love the dependability of the products they sell at every location and the process of how all of them work. Sometimes there can be a long line but they have quite an efficient system to check out customers. If people don't know to bag their items after paying and moving away from the register that can make lines take more time but most know to do this. I have to say this location always seems to be well stocked and clean/organized. I've always been greeted when entering and staff have offered to help me find things if I look confused. I really needed to buy some more groceries today so I signed into the Door Dash App on my Apple IPhone Xr and then Iogged into my Door Dash Account tonight. I was browsing these several different grocery stores online today and I saw this Advertisement on the ALDI Store Website that said if I spend approximately $40 plus dollars on my First Online Order that I place on the Door Dash website, I will receive a 30% Discount off on the total cost of my bill. Also I will receive additional savings since I currently have a Dash Pass Membership with this Door Dash Company. I will save a lot of money on the delivery fees and the service fees that is always charged to my Door Dash Account every time I place an online order on the Door Dash App for different restaurants and also on these grocery stores. I placed my online order for (18) Food Items on the ALDI Store website. My total order cost came was $44.82. I received my grocery order that was packed inside with two large cardboard boxes. I was charged 24 cents for these 2 boxes. The sales tax was 20 cents, the service fee was only $2.38, there was No delivery fee but I would have been charged the delivery fee of $2.99. I received a Discount of $13.44 off on my total order on my bill that was charged to my visa credit card account today. The dasher tip that was chosen for me was $8.00. My dasher delivery driver was Deanna. I accepted this higher paying tip because I had ordered 18 items from the ALDI Store. I also like that if a product is not available in their ALDI Store than, they have these substitutions, where I can choose the same item with a different brand name and a different price or I have the option to receive a online credit refund to my credit card account. It is a great feeling to have these choices with this online ordering process. There was two items that were out of stock at ALDi, These original items were 2 quantity on the L'Oven Fresh White Bread at the total price of $2.90. The substituted items were 2 quantity on the BIMBO White Sandwich Bread that is (24 ounces) for the total cost of $5.90. That was the only item that was out of stock in their ALDI Store. So all of my other (16 items) was in stock on their shelves tonight. My thinking was that is a great deal and I prefer to have my groceries delivered to my home instead of me having to drive over to the grocery store and do my shopping inside the grocery store. It also saves me a lot of time and it is very convenient for me. This Door Dash Company has given me excellent delivery service every time which is in partnership with this ALDI Store location in Oceanside, CA. This ALDI Store website is very easy to use and their prices are very affordable and ALDI has much lower prices compared to some other grocery store that I have done my grocery shopping at in the past. Deanna my delivery driver delivered my 2 boxes of grocery items at 6:30 p. m. tonight. Deanna handed me these 2 boxes separately one by one because these boxes were really heavy. I also had the opportunity to speak to Deanna tonight my dasher delivery driver. Deanna had a really positive attitude when she talked me today and she told me that she really enjoys her job working for this Door Dash Company as a delivery driver. Deanna said that she hand picked my grocery order and then delivered my order to my home on time at 6:30 p. m. tonight. I was also very satisfied with these really low prices for these ALDI grocery products. I will definitely place a new online order again for this AlDI Store in Oceanside, CA. read more

One specific lady cashier here named Kassie is so incredibly rude. I've had multiple experiences here with her where I have all four of my kids under 4 years old and I specifically ask if she could put my things in my cart because I have a newborn and it's hard for me to reach inside the cart and every time she ignores what I have to say and continues scanning and putting items into the other cart so I have to switch all of my groceries into my cart. I've asked other cashiers to do the same and they listen so I don't know why she is so incredibly rude about it. Terrible service here. I'd rather drive longer to go to a different Aldi. read more

I just left the Aldi in Oceanside CA. The only 2 cashiers were extremely rude to customers Both had really bad attitudes. The store was very dirty. Walking through the front door was a dirty still and a large metal rod that came off a refrigerator laying on the floor for someone to trip. Just a disgusting store! I love Aldi! This place extremely affordable! I always come here with a full basket and never spend more than $100! This place is awesome! Not only is it super affordable but they have a great variety of items. The majority of the items they have are not name brand but all the name brand items are definitely a steal when you come across them. The shopping carts are 25 cents that you have to put a quarter in outside and when you return the cart you get your quarter back. Also the employees do not bag your groceries, they just put your items back in your cart and there's a counter for you to bag them yourselves. Overall with how extremely affordable this place is and with the freshness and nice variety of items I'll always shop here. I recommend everyone to come here! read more

Another great ALDI store in North County, San Diego! I shopped during the grand opening and found some great deals and "ALDI Finds." This store is larger than the other locations I've visited and has a spacious layout. The store has plenty of parking and employees willing to assist. I was greeted by multiple employees and offered assistance. It was nice to see some familiar faces from the Vista store here at this location. I frequent ALDI for the "ALDI Finds," other seasonal/limited items, and speciality snacks/treats. Make sure to sign up for the ALDI emails. Pains me to update this review since they started great a few years ago. However, my last visit was very disappointing. The majority of German food items has disappeared and instead more junk food was brought in. The vibe reminds me of a small Walmart now, which is sad. Upon walking in, there was a strong chemical smell coming potentially from one of the coolers? The area behind the plexiglass by the cashiers is filthy! The amount of dust and food debris that has collected there is repulsive. Imagine a store installing Plexiglass supposedly for "health" reasons and the letting nastiness collect around it. Leads me to believe this is not well managed. The stores in Germany are 100% the cleanest stores one could imagine. Very disappointing! read more

This was my first time at Aldi, and I did enjoy the selection fairly well. Much like Trader Joe's, the store brand is made specifically for Aldi, and is manufactured at the same place most likely. If you have celiac like I do, you'll find some odd items containing wheat, like vanilla ice cream because it probably shared equipment. They did have a pretty good gluten free section. The hf bagels were actually tasty. Also some of the staple foods like eggs and milk were really cheap. Some good deals here! For a local market I liked it, I'll likely be back. Don't forget to bring a quarter or you can't get a cart. That's the one annoying thing. But other than that it's got some good items. read more

Regardless of my single check-in, I've been here three times. I held off writing a review until now, because I was hoping the quality of the produce would improve. But it has not. I eat a ton of produce, and I prep a lot of what I buy the same day. The cucumbers are consistently mushy, both the Persians and full-sized, celery always rubbery, spinach wilted (could be a storage/temp issue here), avocados become woody, etc. Mind you, I am not very picky with produce- I can just toss ugly fruit or veggies in my blender, or sauté greens, or turn mushy avocados into chocolate pudding (but not the woody ones!). I do find a few grocery items that have decent ingredient lists, such as raw nuts, seaweed snacks, organic/fair trade coffee, Biltong air-dried beef, fresh pickles, coconut and almond flours (Grocery Outlet has better low-carb baking supplies than Aldi). The cashiers have been none-too friendly; always impatient even when there's not really a line. I am taken aback witnessing two interactions on different visits with people ahead of me that show poor customer service training. Also, the people on the salesfloor don't greet me. Oh hey- I work with people too- and I learned to acknowledge everyone within 10 feet of me. Just sayin'. After three visits, I don't think I will return to this location. I love the Vista Aldi, and look forward to the 24 Hour Fitness opening back up across the street so I have an excuse to visit that store. I've been there dozens of times and even the people who work there are better quality than at this one. Pretty disappointed. The girl who rang us up was literally throwing our food in the shopping cart. To the point where the produce she threw in, broke the bag in our cart and our bell peppers rolled out. SO DISRESPECTFUL! I will never shop here again, and I make sure that whenever someone mentions Aldi's I tell them to try the one off of Sycamore, because no one at this Oceanside location smiles, no one offers help and NO ONE deserves to be disrespected that way that girl disrespected us. First time in this Aldi.... they had a nice variety of everything you will find in a traditional grocery chain store......but, the best thing about shopping with Aldi's is the prices are not at all like traditional stores..... For instance a package of string cheese would be anywhere from $4.99 to 5.99 in a traditional store but at Aldi's string cheese is 2.99 every day... a case of water will run you $2.29 @ Aldi's not 4.99... milk, eggs, bread, all your basics for a much lower price. ...(actually almost everything is lower than a traditional store) It will Cost you a quarter to get a cart, plus You unload your own groceries at checkout..... you also have to Bag your items and to receive your quarter back you have to return your cart. The new Aldi in Oceanside is finally open! Opening day was hectic with limited parking and the parking lot is a little odd in terms of getting in and out of the parking lot area. The new store is large, lots of items with some things that are great deals. Their selection of baked goods, produce, canned items and snack items is descent but a little limiting if you're vegan. I enjoy getting nuts, vegan Faux meats (hamburger patties, hot dogs); crackers, cookies, avocados, and canned food. I wish they had more vegan friendly items. Unfortunately, this won't be a regular grocery store for me but I will come by to pick up a few essentials! read more

No idea why they only have 3 stars (as of right now), but Aldi is awesome. The prices are fantastic. They have a great variety, and the store is clean and well-organized, and generally, well-stocked. There is always at least one stock-person re-loading shelves. Sure, some folks like to be coddled and appreciate having their groceries bagged by someone else. And I'm not talking about those that are physically disabled. Obviously they need help. I'm talking about those people too lazy to do it themselves. I've seen people skip the self-checkout lines to get into the regular check-out lines, and they have like one thing they're buying. Aldi is not for them. Here, you bag yourself. It's not hard. The only thing I wish Aldi would add, is a table beyond the cash register for those of us that don't get grocery carts. I never get a car. I bring one or two bags and load up as I'm shopping, then unload on the conveyor and re-load as the cashier scans each item. Pretty easy and have never had an issue (done this 20 times so far). I've been shopping at this Aldi's in Oceanside since they opened and still think this is a great store. Prices are great! Employees are friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait in line very long because they always call for more checkers when needed. The store manager, Angel, does a good job and helps when needed to keep things running smoothly. This store is always neat and clean, and I like that they get in new items often. read more

This store is quite good but limited in grocery items. I like the milk, orange juice, lemonade, cookies, fruits and vegetables and smoked salmon here. They need more space for a fish counter as I don't eat meats nor processed foods. A barkery and coffee would be nice also. There seems to be space in the building but it's closed unless they use it for storage. I don't like how the cashier switches the carriages at check out when I had already cleaned the handle of the cart as I come into the store. That has to stop. The clerks said it was to speed out the check out. No, not this way. A lot of customers leave unwanted items throughout the store that has to be constantly monitored and returned to it's proper location, especially refrigerated or frozen items. Hours are convenient and so is parking. Whenever I went to Denmark the Quickly stores have the same set up as Aldi's with carts and their deposit boxes, soft goods aisles. Need other brands of ice cream in the freezer and non aspartame water sodas too. read more

ALDI's marked under-staffing at its Oceanside store creates long lines and forces very competent cashiers to work at a break-neck pace. Often, there will be only one cashier on duty. Due to poor hiring practices, training and staffing the demeanor among the rapid change-over of cashiers can be abrupt, curt and on many occasions dismissive, even rude. Often, only one cashier is on duty. Managers is nowhere in sight. If a customer asks, cashier will call a manager to work another stand. Incident mid-April: One cashier was so rude, I tried to call corporate to report her. As the cashier started to ring up the sale, she directed me back in line to pull shopping bags from the built-in shelving set knee-height under the automated belt. This brought me quite close-by another customer, well past safe social distance for COVID19 protection. I remarked that the store needs price signage at the shopping bag shelves. The cashier made a series of dismissive remarks, restating she has nothing to do with that and raising her voice to project down the line as if I had raised a dispute. Her tone was markedly unfriendly and accompanied by a theatrical show of exasperation. Even though I agreed twice that it was a managerial concern and that I would take it up there, the cashier persisted in contentious remarks. Meanwhile she was slamming my items into my cart such that I had to ask her to stop. As the cashier continued to 'create a scene', I remarked that I didn't want to but I would speak to management if she didn't simply continue the sale. She then directed me to speak to the manager, then rose and left the stand in the middle of the sale, returning shortly. As she resumed the argument saying things like, "Apparently, you are not happy, etc." I replied, "This discussion is concluded. Please complete ringing up the sale now." Sale completed in silence. I went over to the bagging counter to bag my groceries. I noted the cashier had immediately perked up and was enthusiastically engaging customers in loud, friendly talk as she rang up their groceries. I looked for a manager and could find none. Outside, a phone call to corporate directed me to their website. By then, I was tired and anxious to leave. I decided to give the cashier a break. ALDI must staff and train appropriately to address customer needs. It has a growing reputation of unpleasant, even rude service. ALDI is a great asset to Oceanside. Prices are excellent. Quality is good. However, ALDI's gross under-staffing, its unrealistic expectations of employees, reflects a certain disregard that blows back onto customers.
