Came here for the first time today while in town and what an amazing little find. This place made me feel like I was in Lebanon. They have all the produce you'd find back home.. from the cheeses, to the fresh baked pita bread, to the condiments and juices. Mediterranean produce, Indian produce, and the people wrecking the front cash registers were very sweet. It's a pretty big store and I guarantee you will find what you're looking for here. They also had a little restaurant to the left, providing fresh Mediterranean cuisine. The ambience was friendly and welcoming. We then proceeded with the catering and the order was processed. On the day of the event (70 people) the food was on time and hot. This was my first time to this location as I used to live closer to the Poway store. Things are laid out a little different. They also have you pick up items from the deli that are prepackaged in Poway, such as Tabouleh and Dolma. The employees are great, friendly, and helpful. Still love this place! The hot food got a bit more expensive but that's inflation. We still get the gyro wrap, they use a huge bread so it does get a little bready towards the end. The gyro plate is great too. In addition to hot food we get their hummus, and garlic sauce so good! Their grocery is a hit or miss. Sometimes the veggies look really fresh, sometimes it looks gross. We love their cucumber. They have bok choy, cabbage, bean sprouts for our Asian needs. read more

I was intrigued with everything that was here. You'll find many items you can't find anywhere else and brands you can't get anywhere else. I may come back for packaged goods (seasonimg, tea, cookies), but on a Friday night, the market appeared to not be well maintained. The produce looked wilted, and the displays were dirty. The refrigerated area had condensation on the outside of some of the doors, and I saw dirty vents on the refrigerated equipment. I would want to try the vegetarian food and sample their feta cheese from their deli, but I wouldn't feel comfortable eating there based on the maintenance of the market. The exterior windows need cleaning, and they still have the social distancing sign outside. It just seems hope is lost, but it can be better! read more

I searched all over North County for certain food items that are hard to find in this area (Orlando brand grape leaves, Armenian string cheese, Athens phyllo dough, ground lamb, etc) and they had everything I was searching for. So my daughter is working in the area for a week and she keeps telling us that everyone tells her she has to come to this Market with a restaurant inside. The restaurant: the food is amazing. It took me three sittings to eat the beef shawarma wrap I purchased. They gave me three sauces but I wish I could have just received more of the ground garlic sauce. The market: they have some very unique foods which was pretty cool but the prices are really high. Some of the items looked like they had been there for a long time. They have a wide variety of groceries from Mediterranean, Indian and Middle Eastern items. It may be a little cluttered in there with so many products but I don't mind. This place is disturbing! If you shop here, please look around. The back produce area is covered with mold! I couldn't believe it. Look above at the upper area of the coolers. I have no idea how they can move all of this product. I picked up a bottle of Kefir and checked the expiration date. They had multiple bottles and they all expired the same day I was shopping. Mixed experience for both the hot food and grocery portions of the trip. Hot food : big selection of middle eastern/Persian standards. Daily special is a smoking deal. They pack in the food so all of it is a decent value. You can get small side containers of toum. You order inside the grocery and then pay at checkout and bring your receipt around to pick up your good at the counter toward the front of the store. There are a few tables to eat at inside but it was freezing cold so we took it to go. We got 2 combo plates and 6 falafel. Chicken was pretty dry, beef kubideh was good. Falafel were pretty nice, but there are a few places I like better (Panini Kabob Grill and The Kebab Shop in Oceanside). Grocery: variety of items but not super well-organized - you'll find spices in like 5 different areas for example and half unpacked boxes in stacks randomly. Produce and Meat counter both looked a little iffy to me, though I did pick up a bunch of cilantro I needed. Deli and bakery looked good though. 3 or 4 types of fresh feta. Bread made in house that's definitely worth picking up. I did get tzatziki in the deli. They also had standards like cucumber salad and baba Ghanaian. I thought it was weird they didn't have toum (had to buy a commercially packed container for $9) but they do have small sides of it at the hot food counter. Tons of pickles, tea, a whole section of British/imported sweets. Overall a mixed experience. I'd go back for the fresh bread, hot meal specials and to look for specific ingredients perhaps. read more

The chicken pieces were very dry, so chewy, at least 2 of the 10 pieces were inedible because it was so chewy and dry, the rest I forced myself through just cuz I spent a lot of money on it. The coating flavor of the chicken was good if I wasn't so distracted by the chewiness and the burnt peaks of the chicken. The yellow rice was dry, fair flavor, again maybe could've enjoyed if not so dry. The salad was good, tomato slices, cucumber, and lettuce were good/appeared fresh, the sauces were good, way too much red onion. Portion size was okay but I think small for the cost. What a hidden gem! My friend told me about this place and I would've never known there was a Mediterranean grill inside of this market! We got the family pack with half chicken and half beef and it was soooo much food for $19.99.. amazing deal! It also comes with this huge bread that came folded in half and still was about the size of the tray. I can't wait to try the other daily specials! I went here twice last week while visiting Camp Pendelton. The store has a mix of Mediterranean, Jewish, and Halla...it is like a trip around the world. You can buy fresh produce, bread, olives, drinks and desserts all in one place. I bought some Turkish cotton candy, which I had never had, so it was fun to try new things. There is also a restaurant inside. I got falafel, which was fried fresh and very good. We also got a HUGE gyro sandwich that would easily feed two people and an order of ground beef skewers that had a ton of flavor. Tip order your food, go shop, check out, and go back and get your food. The gyro was made on homemade bread - so good. You can watch them carve the meat right in front of you. The staff is friendly and will explain to you what they have. There are about five tables inside - most people seemed to be getting food to go. They also do catering for very reasonable prices. We've been fans of North Park Produce for almost 20 years. Today was the first time we shopped at this location. It's bright, large and airy. Aisles are wide and clean -- not as crowded as the Poway location. The selection of Middle Eastern and Eastern European foods is excellent. We were on a mission today to find a specific product that we bought a few years ago -- a Russian style Eggplant Spread Ikra (which, BTW is excellent). After a short search, we found it (see photo). We also picked up excellent chocolate candy from Lithuania that we had first bought in another market. read more

LOVE this place!!! Fantastic gyros & other Mediterranean meals with generous portions, excellent rice choices (jasmine, saffron, etc), great decision to change the salad they used to put in the to-go container (the salad part was a bit weak; the tomatoes were decidedly floury or grainy, etc, but it's changed & that's great!). Excellent tzatziki sauce & other sauces, all apparently made in-house. "Tip jar" located on the counter where customers pick up their meal. Order at the food counter, located under the main menu, then pay at one of the main registers at the front of the store while your meal is assembled, then go back to where the food counter ends/where the tables & chairs are located. Nice seating area: clean & casual. They have mouth-watering grilled tomatoes...really a terrific restaurant department. The food counter employees are Always friendly; I've yet to encounter anything but friendliness at the food counter in the past coming up on 17 years. Also, they have "specials" on certain meals on certain days of the week (nice!!), & I get text messages at 11am most days notifying me of the day's "special". On Sundays right now they have a special on a family-sized meal. Cashiers at the front of the store are generally distant & disengaged, but maybe that's a cultural thing. Irresistible products in the main store. Fantastic array of spices, nuts, rices, dried fruits, etc. Wide selection of jams/preserves, juices & drinks, canned & jarred Mediterranean chutneys & pickled items. (To the North Park decision-makers: Please carry "Branston Pickle", a popular British chutney, which I order online now bc World Market isn't an option anymore.) Fresh pita breads in the mornings, lots of pastries & baklava [their baklava is ok, in my honest opinion, my family rates it a 6 out of 10; it needs to be made w butter, (Not shortening!), it leaves a film on our tongues & roof of our mouths; we were Spoiled living 14 years a few doors down from a lady from Greece, who made baklava from scratch & she'd always give some to us], interesting selection at the butcher counter. Awesome selection of fresh fruit & veg, including fresh herbs, "champagne grapes" come to mind (YUM: tiny, plump, sweet green grapes). Fruit & veg are real; not polished & perfect. Look for the items on sale, & then incorporate into your meals. "Quality Street" English chocolate sold here!! (My origin!) It is a bit pricey (my British way of saying it's quite expensive), & usually far from its production date, which reflects in the freshness of the chocolates: disappointing. Produce, Bakery, Butcher, Dairy, & shelf-stable items are all wonderful in their own ways. Prepared food counter/restaurant area is truly a treat. Very casual, dine-in or take-out. Customers comprise everyday Californians to many kinds of Mediterraneans & Middle-Easterners. It's not surprising to see customers wearing Birkenstocks to burkas. I smile at everyone I encounter. Cheap produce, and lots of good stuff. Lovely, fresh bunches of parsley. Tons of Mediterranean and Persian treats like different pickles, desserts, pastries, candies, breads, etc. You can get dolma in bulk in giant tins or fresh at the deli counter. Meat counter has a good selection at a good price. The Moroccan eggplant salad from the deli is great. The cafe area has decent Persian food including kabobs, koobideh, etc. I ordered the lamb shank plate and it really hit the spot. An authentic and very well-stocked Middle Eastern market selling everything from exotic fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and spices to their freshly cooked nan which is still warm when you buy it and it tastes amazing. It is a huge market where you can buy their freshly made hummus, tzatziki, etc and a wide selection of feta cheeses from all over the world to a deli section where you can order freshly made and delicious falafels, tandoori chicken, etc. Their name "North Coast Produce" doesn't do them justice. Long time a go to place for me, when craving eastern european food. One example - canned fish (where can you get russian salmon, polish fillet of herring, latvian smoked sprats, israeli herring). Another favorite item is - german tea Tekanne, coming in Roseship, camomile, mixed fruit (but there are diffrent teas from all over the world). The selection of chocolate candies is great (Turkey, Russia, Baltic republicks etc). Buckwheat from Russia, and pelmeni (dumplings) more items to shop. I didn't try the food here yet (I can see very mixed reviews from 5 to 1 stars), also be carefull with expiration dates on some product items. read more

This is a store that serves as a grocery store carrying middle eastern and Mediterranean products plus as a place where you can have some kabobs or shawarmas made to order for eating there or carrying out. The store has a large variety of such products plus fresh produce. Don't expect top notch quality on the same level as Whole Foods or Jimbo's; more like Von's, Ralph's etc. and the low prices go along with those expectations. Not everything is clearly labeled in English, so if these foods are unfamiliar to you, either know what you're looking for or be willing to ask for help. Great prices. The ordering system at the restaurant counter is a little confusing. Place your order; they'll give you an order slip. Finish shopping and check out; when you check out, hand the clerk your slip and you'll pay for it with your groceries. Then, wait in the sitting area until your order is ready (~15 minutes).
