I like a lot about Aldi. Their prices are great and they have a lot of their own healthy products. But their chicken ruined my perception of their quality. We cooked it and cut into it and it was filled with slime fillers. It was seriously gross. Now we are just very selective on what we buy and what we trust about them.

You have to pay a quarter for their basket for groceries and they don't give you a fee bag.

Turn right and you're in the bakery where fresh bread, cookies and pastries tempt you. Directly next to the bakery is a Taqueria with hot foods to grab for lunch or dinner. It's a very popular spot and can get congested. The vegetables and fruits are one of my favorite areas with many types of peppers, cactus, plantains, several herbs are available as well as the standard fresh fruit and veggies. The remaining isles are what you'd expect to find from meat, dairy, frozen, cleaning supplies, etc. and they do carry a decent amount of alcohol and mixes for a smaller supermarket. They carry a much smaller selection than an HEB or Kroger but terrific to run in for weekly groceries or just grab a few items. There are lots of registers and the friendly cashiers work really hard to keep the lines moving quickly. I normally get in and out quickly. The store is always clean and the isleways are clear. The prices are reasonable and they have good sales. Conveniently located, baskets always available outside the door with ample parking space. My wish is I'd love to see them carry a smaller container of Sugar Free coffee mate, currently a 1/2 gallon. The regular sizes and flavor are great except sugar free. A little thing but would make me happy and save me a trip to Kroger.

I had previously encouraged my daughter to apply for a job there, but after witnessing how Amy treats employees, I no longer feel comfortable with that decision. No one should have to work in such a negative environment. If she is unhappy with her job, perhaps she shouldn't be in that position. Her attitude has made me reconsider coming back, and I'm sure other customers feel the same way. I strongly suggest that management take action--whether that means addressing her behavior or moving her to a different location--before it starts driving customers away.

Community Supported Agriculture ...By getting a subscription, you're supporting small, local, organic farms; and you reap the benefits of getting fresh, seasonal veggies and probiotics. Local dirt is good for ya! I pick up my weekly share at Eastside Farmers Market each Saturday. An easy ritual that gets me out of bed and meal prepping for the week by Saturday afternoon (or sometimes Sunday). My sister gets her share out in Katy. Again, multiple pickup locations. About your membership: :: You can share with a friend, which is exactly what I do. At $30 week ($15/person with my buddy) we both get more than enough fresh and seasonal veggies for the week. :: The longer you subscribe, the better the discount you get. :: They let you swap out veggies for others when you pick up your box, in the case you're not feelin' a certain veggie. :: Need to skip a week due to travels or whatever life throws your way? They make it easy to skip a week (there are limits to how many times you can do that.) The farm itself is 288 acres of all sorts of seasonal veggies and herbs. before each week's pickup, members get an email with a photo and list of veggies for the week, along with storage/preservation tips and shared recipes. I've had my membership for 3+ months, and since then I've turned my kitchen into somewhat of a culinary lab. I've made carrot top pesto with my leftover carrot tops, kale chips. pickled watermelon radish, whipped kohlrabi.... I had NO idea what kohlrabi was before LOAM, and now I notice it on restaurant menus and even iin-the-know food trucks. It's amazing how much LOAM has opened me up to not only trying new vegetables, but cooking them. It's not too scary thanks to Pinterest. LOAM also has farm events for members. I wasn't a member back during Thanksgiving, but I saw on their website they had a day of green bean picking for families - what a fun way to educate the kiddos where their food comes and excite them about vegetables and cooking. Love ya, LOAM.

Cool weather, off and on rain, heavy mud stuck to the soles of our feet, grasshoppers and the smells of a farm here on Richmond, Texas. I believe they said it was 288 acres. It used to be prison land but was sold. It's adjacent to a prison. The prison still grows corn. Apparently the prison grew their own produce. They were going to sell some of the land for development I was told. The land wasn't able to be developed. This farm was able to get a lot of acres and farm it. See my picture of the extra dressing left over in the bowl. The bao buns were both good. The chicken katsu was crunchy and the chicken was tender. I didn't like the "crumbs"'on top but they were easy enough to scrap off. The beef bao wasn't as good. There was a huge chunk of fat on it. See my picture. That was a disappointment. The bun itself was fluffy and overall they were pretty good. A bit of attention to the beef would've given them a higher score. That amount of fat was unacceptable in my book. The server was nice and came by to check on us an appropriate number of times. The small restaurant was kept up well. A bit of stuff stored along the wall but it appeared clean. The restroom was tidy. There were a couple of mis-steps that could've been avoided with closer attention but overall it was ok.

Our server wasn't as attentive or interactive with us. He asked for our drink orders and shortly came back to take our food order. We ordered the Steamed Beef Dumplings, Thai Spicy Shrimp Ramen, and the Spicy Duck Miso Ramen. The food came out quickly. I'm talking maybe 5 minutes after placing the order. Everything tasted great and was served hot and fresh.
