It's been 4 years since my last visit and not much has changed. Each vendor seems to have their permanent spot in the back lot. I love it simply for the fact that it is truly a farmers market. No crafts or jewelry here. However, there are only a couple of vendors who are not farmers, but still food related. One sells local wine and they are only there on Saturdays. The gentleman at Pap's Produce said the hours of operation is Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm. I am not sure if these are just summer hours, as I forgot to ask him. At this market you can find a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as plants and flowers and baked goods. They all carry similar things, but each vendor seems to carry one item that is cheaper than the other. - Parking - Private lot of Charlotte Hall Library. I purchased goods from the following vendors: Pap's Produce - a dozen corn for $5. This vendor is on the end lot by the entrance to the parking lot with a white shed. Their name is marked on the doorway of the shed in really small writing. They had Silver King Corn (white kernel) corn, which seems to be the common crop around that area. It was piled high, neatly on a folding table. The husks were bright green with no blemishes and they seemed to have picked them that morning. I opened each one and the kernels were perfect! Cooked them later for dinner and they were so fresh. Clover Hill Produce (CHP) - Cantaloupe, 3 for $5. The aroma of cantaloupes will intoxicate you at every vendor that sells these melons. CHP had the best deal on the cantaloupes. Most were selling them for 1 for $2, and 2 for $5 and the sizes varied. The lady at this spot picked the perfect melons for me as I needed one for immediate consumption and the other two for the next few days. We had some for an afternoon snack and they were so juicy and delicious! John's Produce - Whoopie Pies for $0.75 each, Mini Peach Pie for $2.50 There are a few vendors at the market that carry baked goods by a lady names Ada. I wondered who Ada was and they explained that she comes by in the morning and delivers her goods to them, but does not sell her goods on her own at the market. Most of the goods were delivered shortly before we arrived as some of the plastic bags of the items, like the dinner rolls, were blown up from the steam. You could still feel the heat if you put your hands near it. They looked delicious! Be sure to take a look at each vendor that carries her stuff, because they all do not carry the same of her things! We got a variety of Whoopie Pies like Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint, Pumpkin and Chocolate and I just had to get the Peach Pie. Noah's Place - Large Apple Pie for $6.75 My SIL told me that the Amish make some great pies, so I decided to get one and went with Apple, a flavor, that the whole family would enjoy. There were also Blackberry, Blueberry and Cherry. Noah's Place carries goods from Kurtz Bakery, unlike the others who carry Ada's goods. My process at any market is do a walk through to see what each of the vendors offer, make a mental note of the things I want to buy and then buy everything at the end. I did good at this one! Came out with quite a few bags, purchasing from four vendors and probably spent about $20! I also recommend going during a weekday, if you don't mind missing the wine vendor, because my SIL says it gets pretty crowded on Saturdays.

Something in my body told me to check the website to see if…read morepeaches were ready earlier this week, and to my surprise, they had stopped the picking to allow more fruit to ripen. Do you know what that meant!? It means they had already started picking them and I was late! Again! I remembered to look again today and it said it was open but it might not last all day and they highly doubt there would be peaches available to pick for Saturday or Sunday. The website noted the late freeze in April didn't give them a great harvest this year. That meant RUN RUN RUN ‍ so that's exactly what I did. Although I missed two exits getting there SMH, I pulled up, changed my shoes, and opened my trunk to grab my little red wagon. To my dismay, it was not there! I could not believe it because how was I going to haul all my peachesand by myself?! I quickly called my mama and she told me she indeed still had its. I was heartbroken because I was already by myself and no one could come such last minute but now I have to somehow carry the heavy peaches through the field and the hot sun. I looked around and saw wheelbarrows but already knew they would be way too heavy for me to pull around the field so I quickly emptied a reusable bag for my box to go in, and headed to the stand. This year you have to purchase a entry band for everyone that is within the field. That $3 goes towards the farm and whatever they need. Years prior, container size you purchased dictated how many people could go into the field to cleft l collect for that box. Bigger box, more people. I noticed a sign stating I couldn't bring a tote bag in the field and the gentleman explained he would have to check it on the way out. I didn't really care about that and explained to him how I left my wagon and he offered for me to use one of their wheelbarrows. I declined at first because I knew it was going to be too heavy for me to haul around and I instantly had flashbacks of back in the day trying to move that thing. I decided to walk over and see how heavy it was. Guess what!? These wheelbarrows are so lightweight! They're not even made of steel LOL I was so happy and quickly grabed the wheelbarrow, put my box in along with my things, and headed into the field after paying. The smell of peaches fermenting has got to be one of my all-time favorites! It was a warm day today so I definitely took my time and tried to find shade as I picked my peaches. My box quickly filled up so I grabbed one, munched on it and then left after taking some video. What a quick visit. I knew my next stop was to grab my favorite peach butter so I headed to the store. They have less products this year and I wondered how our current climate has been impacting other farms which helps supply their store. They have a few different varieties of mushrooms all boxed for 10 bucks to include lion's mane, porcini, yellow trumpets and others. I made my way around the perimeter of the store and saw some of the usuals like beef jerky, beeswax candles, kraut, cheeses, milk and such. When I got to my favorite spot with my peach butter, there was none! The whole top shelf was empty! This has happened to me before and I had to come back. Hopefully I'll be able to grab some at a later date but if you go grab me a jar lol. I then started looking for to Taharka's ice cream and noticed a deep freezer with a sign indicating the ice cream was inside. I decided not to grab any because I wasn't too sure if I was headed straight home or not. The last time I had to eat both pints so that they didn't melt in my car . . . . . I can't wait for my next adventure at Larriland. The fall will be a great time to visit as well. Oh yeah, right now currently they have onions, tomatoes, potatoes, beets and some other pick your owns in season as well. Happy picking

I discovered Class Produce earlier this year while looking for an organic produce wholesaler to…read morefeed our hungry family. Class Produce is a distributor that carries organic as well as conventional produce. I am considered a "cash customer" (even though I can pay by Visa or MasterCard) since I purchase as an individual. Twice a week, I receive a spreadsheet by e-mail of current stock items and prices. Pick-up is Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.--12:00 noon, and the order must be received by the close of business a day ahead of time. Some pointers: -most deliveries come in overnight on Sunday, so the best day for pick-up is Monday. -check your produce on-site or as soon as you get home. Class will not issue a credit for items 24 hours after pick-up. I've had 3 small issues (fruit that wasn't optimal) since I started ordering from here, and Class was quick in resolving the situation, but the first time that I called, I did not know that I had a 24-hour window. -the warehouse is in Jessup right next to a new car storage lot, and it can seem a little bit confusing to navigate your first time there. Back your vehicle into one of the loading bays to the right of the entrance (the bays here start at #16, I believe), and go into the office (you need to be buzzed in) to verify your order and pay. -a weekly CSA (conventional and organic) is available for a good price, but I haven't taken advantage of this yet. The staff at Class has been professional and friendly--I like working with the front office employees as well as the warehouse guys. Loading assistance is available if you need it. Am I saving money? Yes! For example, the first pomegranates of the season just arrived last week. I paid $55 for a case of 36 (about $1.52 each). Organic pomegranates at WF are $2.99 each. Most everything is offered by the case, but there are a few items that come pre-packaged (e.g. dozen-counts of avocados, apples and pears). I wish that another family would share in ordering with us, so that I could buy more vegetables, but we definitely go through the fruit. When I order a case of organic bananas ($24 for 40 lbs), we'll let some ripen and freeze the rest for smoothies. Over the summer, the peaches and berries were a hit. In all, I highly recommend this place if you have a family of 5 or more (or want to share a produce haul with a friend). The fact that I can pick up organic produce from a distributor before it sits on a grocery shelf for who knows how long is wonderful. If you try it out, let me know what you think!

This spring we were pleasantly pleased to find a table of perennial, summer blooming plants. We had trouble just picking out a dozen there were so many beautiful choices. Twice a week they have bread delivered and the sour dough is the best I've ever had. It does tend to sell out quickly though. There is freezer with meats. My husband always picks up chicken Chesapeake sausage when available. There is an ice cream case and a refrigerator case with yoghurt and other dairy products. My neighbor mentioned she was looking for raw milk to make cheese and we think they carry it along with fresh eggs. We always go to pick up bread and sausage and end up with two grocery bags full of irresistible items.
