Amazing Alejandra's continues to wow the locals with phenomenal customer service and delicious Mexican food. Their complimentary chips with their signature salsa are better than ever. A great atmosphere in downtown Visalia with lively decor and friendly customer service. If it looks busy don't worry they'll sit you soon. There is also a large room to accommodate larger parties. Try their brunch menu on the weekends as well because they offer delicious breakfast options.

My husband and I came here last week on a Friday night. I was excited to come here because I haven't been since they reopened. It was not very busy and we were seated right away. The service was attentive and the servers had fun personalities. I had a virgin mango margarita. It was pretty syrupy in taste, which is to be expected without the alcohol to balance it, but it also wasn't very cold, which was odd since it was blended. To eat we each had enchilada combo plates with rice and beans. They were good, pretty standard Mexican combo plates. For dessert we had the churros. They were delicious!! The churros were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside and came with a delicious dipping sauce. There were about 4 churros but also a lot of little fried churro pieces, which I also thought were so delicious and were like dessert chips! Definitely glad to see Alejandra's back!

I had the combo fajitas. It was delicious!!! Service was great! Atmosphere was great! It is so nice inside since they reopened.

Today we decided to try Alejandra's Mexican Restaurant. The place has been rebuilt and is basically brand new, and I have to say the decor and overall look of the restaurant are beautiful. The redesign fits what this town needs, and I truly hope the business succeeds and remains part of the community for years to come. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the atmosphere. We ordered the steak piccata, and there was far more sauce and vegetables than there was steak. The dish was very bland and lacked seasoning. We ended up having to doctor it up ourselves and pull most of the meat out of the sauce just to make it taste better. We also ordered a cheese enchilada, which was just okay--not the best I've had. The carne asada tacos were decent, but again, there was very little flavor. Everything seemed to be missing the seasoning and spices you'd normally expect. The Bloody Marys were probably the biggest disappointment. They were small, had a strange aftertaste, and even after asking for them spicy, they had almost no kick. I had to add pepper, salt, lime, and hot sauce just to make them taste decent. The guacamole also tasted as if it had been cut or stretched with something to make it go further, which took away from the fresh flavor you normally expect. The shrimp ceviche was probably one of the better items we had--it was decent--but even that could have used more seasoning. One thing that stood out is how easy it was to walk in and sit down because it wasn't very busy. Having eaten at many Mexican restaurants in town, this one had the least amount of flavor and seasoning in the food. It makes you wonder why people keep coming back if they have to adjust the food themselves. Another downside is that they charge an extra fee when paying with a card. For a restaurant that isn't delivering top-notch food, those kinds of extra fees feel unnecessary and a bit nickel-and-dime. I truly wish this place the best because the building and atmosphere are great for the community. But as of now, the kitchen needs improvement--more seasoning, more flavor, and more attention to the food. Right now, the experience just doesn't match the potential of the space.

My grandpa & I came on their first week of opening and its scenery is beautiful. Our server was friendly and beautiful but she seemed to be serving other tables so she didn't check on us much. We didn't get our meals until an hour. I got a fajita plate which was good I rate it 5/5 just needed some salt. My grandpa got the cocido de rez and the soups color looked odd and he said it had no flavor. The rice was very bland. He only ate 2 carrots, the potatoes. He absolutely didn't like the meat. 1/5 for his rating. Chips and salsa were good.

Alejandra's Mexican Restaurant has really good, authentic flavors. The mole was rich and flavorful without being sweet, which I appreciated, and the chicken dish was good overall -- though I wish the chicken had been shredded instead of in larger pieces. The Veracruz-style dish was interesting and unique, with olives and pineapple -- not something you see often, but definitely worth trying. Everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. Only downside: the outside chairs were pretty uncomfortable, which made sitting out there less enjoyable. Overall, really solid food and authentic flavors, I'd definitely come back, but request to sit inside this time

These are the driest, fish and shrimp tacos I have ever had. No flavor , no sauce just a dry tortilla and some Fish

Driest tacos I've ever had no sauce just a dry tortilla with some dry fish. Had to add guacamole for it to have any flavor. Chicken nachos again no seasoning. I guess if you like dry chicken this is the place for you

My husband didn't want to go have dinner here because of their very poor rating reviews from years ago but I convinced him. I told my husband those old reviews were from years ago and since they just barely had their grand opening last Saturday November 22, 2025 they probably have a new chef. Boy were we so wrong. The food is terrible and the presentation was even worse. Just take a look at my combo fajita which I asked please no chicken but was given chicken. The bell peppers were super soft and soggy and so were the onions. The fajitas was drenched in so much oil, it was pretty bad. And the rice was old and hard. Customer service could be a lot better. We won't be returning. By the way please get your menu laminated because my husband's menu had dirty finger prints all over them!

Tamale, rice and cheese covering beans and enchiladas. Red sauce looked and tasted like mole sauce

We also got a side of chips and salsa and two mini tacos, one with Al pastor and the other with barbacoa. The Asada tasted bad. The rest of the burrito was fine. The green sauce was great, pico and guac were fine. But the meat had this weird old tasting flavor to it. It even had a rancid smell to it after pulling a few pieces out to see what the problem was. I immediately had to stop eating it, the pieces were also fatty, tough and hard like a pebble. The chips also tasted old and stale, like store bought chips left out for a while. The Al Pastor was the highlight of the meal. The meat tasted charred, it was flavorful and well seasoned. I honestly should've grabbed a burrito with that meat instead. Barbacoa was just ok, nothing to write home about. A little more tough than what we've had from Chipotle. Not really seasoned. Overall, disappointed. Los Arbolitos was the spot to go to for a really good asada burrito. Unfortunately this doesn't seem like the case anymore. Was really hoping to find another local spot for our Mexican food cravings but I don't think it's going to be this one after all.

For 1 burrito and 1 taco with tip, came out to around $33. Don't do delivery from here. The Burrito was not very good. The meat was almost like ground beef in texture but also non existent at the same time. I tasted more beans than rice but even then, it was more of a soupy burrito with a tortilla that you had to rip at and hope each bite wouldn't undo the whole burrito. There was some kind of salsa inside it that wasn't apart of the description. It gave it an off flavor. Al Pastor taco was meh. The corn tortillas tasted homemade, which was nice. But the meat was stringy, kind of fatty and an off color almost a light orange. It tasted better than the asada but still wasn't very good. I do appreciate they followed my request for extra salsa, but these packs look like they come from a frozen dinner you get at the store. Absolutely off putting. The flavor was "ok" but nothing special. Overall, not worth it. $33 and I was left with an upset stomach. I had such high hopes! I haven't been in a long time and was hoping it would have been an amazing experience. I was wrong. We were sat down with menus, given chips, salsa, and water, and told to place our menus at the edge of the table when ready. The server came by several times while we were still deciding, and when we finally told her we planned to split a burrito, she gave us an odd look and commented that it "might be a reasonable size to share." Shortly after, she returned to inform us that we had been given the wrong menus and that every item was actually $2.99 more than what we had been reviewing--something completely unprofessional and misleading. To make matters worse, when I asked about happy hour, she flat-out said they didn't have one, yet I later found multiple reviews online mentioning happy hour specials. That means she either didn't know or wasn't being honest. Between the dismissive service, the sudden price change, and the lack of transparency, we decided to walk out. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant.

But in the past several…read moreyears, it's completely gone downhill both in customer service, quality of the food, & its pricing. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, however the prices continue to rise. What you are served is definitely not worth what Azul's charges you. This place used to be a regular go-to spot for myself when I am in Visalia, which is quite often. My sister & her husband were weekly regulars there & were (allegedly) friends with the owner. The last several times I've been there for a meal with my sister & BIL the owner has come over to say hello, but she has not seemed genuine or at all happy to see my sister & BIL. Instead, her "hellos" & the quick small talk that is expected of an owner greeting their regulars seemed incredibly forced & just completely inorganic. It was like she did not want us there, found it annoying that we were there, & did not appreciate our business at all. That made me feel very uncomfortable. The last time my family was there, it was my sister, mother, & their friend (a Visalia local) that were dining in. My mother picked up the check & paid by debit card & rounded up the just under $70 bill to $90 for the tip. When she looked at her bank statement a few days later, she discovered that the server had charged $100. My mom called my sister, who told her to call the owner & let her know what happened to make it right. They were trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time knew the chances of an experienced server mistaking a 2-digit total for a 3-digit total is highly unlikely. When my mother called the restaurant to speak to the owner, she kept my mother waiting on hold for the longest time. After the owner finally did come to the phone, she was very rude to my mom: didn't say hello or ask how she was. The owner completely dismissed the occurrence, saying that the server who ran the card was one of her best girls & longest employees & that there was no way that could have happened. The way she spoke to my mother, it was like she was trying to make my mother feel like it was her fault, & was making an issue out of nothing. My mom assured her that she had copies of the receipt with the correct total, to which the owner rudely said something like "okay, so what now? You want the $10 back?" completely dismissively. My mother tried to be polite--as this was a "friend" of my sister's & my sister & BIL were still at that point regulars--so she said the next time they came in to dine, they could discount that tab by $10. Obviously, that never happened. When my BIL found that out, he & my sister both decided they would no longer give their business to such a place. None of us have been back since. I do not recommend eating here. You will get mediocre food at an expensive price tag. Plus you will run the risk of dishonest servers over tipping themselves under the protection of an owner who clearly does not care & puts her customers down. If this was the experience of regular customers, I can only imagine how the non-regulars are treated...
