Sunday mornings. I appreciate the quiet stroll just leisurely looking at things. Set your expectations low, you know that's how it is when you're thrifting. You might find some treasure. You might not. No worries- plenty of parking in lot and never gets full! Alright if you come in already knowing what to expect. Don't expect new crafts vendors. Many booths are tools, books, old dishware, old toys, jewelry pieces, plants, used stuff. Some vendors are nice and I enjoy chatting. They're usually repeat vendors weekly. Each person has their speciality or own type of goods. You can bargain. Bathrooms and porta potties available. One food truck and one baked good stand. I suggest eating first before coming. Behind the parking lot is a street full of more vendors. Feels super even more junky there. Police ask them to leave once in a while since they're not registered vendors. read more

Great open air flea market with a wide and eclectic vibe. Local vendors come out to this location to hawk their wares and you never really quite know what you're going to get. Although the space itself is a bit small its an ever changing variety of items and definitely worth the visit whether you're local or coming from out of town. Overall this place is a great place to go if you're of African decent. While other places may or may not be overly enthused about your business I did not get that vibe here. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area so this location was definitely refreshing...However! I feel like some of these vendors may have stolen what they're selling. I more inclined to say that about the vendors who have booths near the market who aren't paying for a spot. Anyway, I check the sketchy vendors and the ones who pay for their spot. With most of the vendors here, it's quite hard to haggle them down on stuff that are really old and used. They sell their items at almost full price for something you an get new a the store! Alas, if you're lucky, you will find someone who is really selling. They have a a lot of tool items, clothes, shoes, books etc. it's nice to walk around when they have it and you could be able to find something you didn't know you needed! read more

I found a few great deals at this flea market. For one, a stuffed pug dog ($1). Two, a porcelain "Fu" dog which is of Chinese origin and the seller told me it is antique ($20). Three, my BFF got a cool deal on a Converse shoes (John Varvatos) with leather top for only $15. We got here at the tale end around 3PM when everyone were starting to pack up. I was told to come back again during the morning and I will find more antique merchandise. I was particularly looking for Dresden and Meissen porcelains. Most of the vendors were selling household goods, car parts, and mostly garage sale finds, but I will definitely be back and hope to find more unique one of a kind treasures. read more

I have been looking for a place to sell my stuff. So happy there is a Local Flea Market near my house.

Visiting this flea market on a Sunday morning is always an interesting, educational and entertaining experience. First of all, it's not that big - big enough to find a variety of wares, but not so big that you get lost or overwhelmed (as I have at the Alemeda flea market - a frightening experience at Christmas time - so many scary Santas!). And it's free! The only time I would not recommend going is the 1st Sunday of the month, when most of the better vendors go to the above-mentioned Alemeda flea market. My favorite routine is to go around 10am or so, purchase a coffee and a petit pain au chocolat from the pasty vendor there, and walk around in a half-daze turning over plates and looking at whatever catches my eye. My favorite purchases over the years have included: 1/ A Russell Wright American Modern creamer 2/ An English ironstone teapot with the lid missing - beautiful as a vase 3/ A frogskin stoneware planter from the 1930's 4/ A hand-drawn picture of a nymph 5/ A rubber Gumby - this was a gift - see photo 6/ A vintage snakeskin pocketbook 7/ A set of 6 melon bowls that are shaped like melons (Majolica knock-offs) 8/ An original Zephyr skateboard (my brother actually bought that) 9/ A Camel ashtray in the shape of a pool table - the cigarettes sit on the sides like cue sticks (ok, that was my brother's find too, but I drove him there!!) 10/ Various brooches 11/ Vintage textiles: various yardage of barkcloth patio prints (great for making pillow covers) I have rarely spent over $30 at one time, and often don't spend more than $10. Some vendors are more open to haggling than others. Parking is easy, and you can easliy be in and out of there in an hour or less. So much more fun than going to the mall. read more

One Sunday I took my old roommate to the Alemany Flea Market, forgetting that the FARMERS market was on Saturdays - best mistake I've ever made. Cheap collector's vinyl there for the taking for those of us who aren't above getting our hands dirty! There's also some cool furniture and random things. Every week its a different journey. There was a parking lot and plenty of parking in the surrounding neighborhood. I love perusing crap and crap there was!!! Heaps of it! My boyfriend has a good eye for deals, and this is his go to spot for discount finds. I enjoy going with him to browse through all the items for sale. Visually, it's incredible to see novelty items you may have had as a kid growing up, sentimental things. It's cool to see a bit of history right before you- Cat Fancy Magazine, Pez dispensers, GI Joes, etc. My BF picked up a couple great finds: 1. I've been to the Alemany Flea a few times. I use it find beat-up, unloved vintage and antique items that I refurbish. In this capacity, Alemany ranks with all other fleas I've been to over the years. It's not amazing, it's not horrible. I'm not sure why there are so many low ratings. There alot of mentions of the way it used to be. Most flea market sellers are aware of what they have and the that there's a market for old, rusty crap that can be called be vintage and someone can make an upcycled Pinterest project out of. If anyone still thinks they are going to go and find some amazing, antique gem, in excellent condition for 10 bucks every weekend = no. NO. It's 2018 and it's unlikely. read more

Ugh. It's like some sad, lost island of stolen tools, with a lot of junk washed up along its shores. I've found a few cool items there over time, but mostly, the entire thing is sketchy. And for the most part, overpriced. I can buy a new set of vise-grips for less than a mismatched set of used ones, thank you very much. Oh, these stolen ones were made in the USA? How about that. I kind of wonder if one reason the City does so little about break-ins is because of the fees they rake in from this place where so much of the loot is sold. You would think the cops would have a field day arresting people for selling stolen items, but I guess that's only a crime on TV. read more

Flea markets are always a crap shoot. Sometimes you'll find treasures galore, other times you'll leave empty handed. Most of us can take it or leave it. Why bother going? Why make the effort? Why look for parking? I'll tell you why in just a sec. It is tiring walking past table after table of crap that would be really interesting in your grandma's basement but nothing that you actually want to be cluttering up YOUR basement. Old-timey metal keys that look like they came from an old western town jail? They got 'em. Various pieces of silverware and candy bowls? They got 'em. Geiger counters and a billion old rusty tools? They got 'em! But do you really wanna drag this stuff home? After browsing through all kinds of junk, it is rare that I actually want to buy something and find a home for it in my already-cluttered apartment. But when I do find a hidden gem, it makes a trip to the flea market all worthwhile. Today I found an ice chipper with a bottle opener on the handle and I also found a barbie type doll called Pregnant Judith. PREGNANT. Yes, this doll named Judith looked like Barbie, but also had a round belly that opened up with a baby curled up inside. Ugh, this place used to be great back in the day but its not even a shadow of what it used to be. If you like seeing old men pee into paper cups while hiding behind broken down hand painted vans and pawing through a bunch of greasy worthless garbage, this is the place for you. Nothing interesting here, unless you're looking for obsolete hand tools. Then there was the guy who wanted to sell us a "900 Year Old Vase" for $500. Only because I drove my aunt to the airport at the butt-crack of dawn this morning and made a very abrupt exit at Alemany as my brain made the connection with this rare opportunity of being up and out at 7:30am on a Sunday. This flea market is small in comparison to the Alameda gargantuan afternoon long stroll to find your hidden treasure event, but it does happen every Sunday versus Alameda's once a month affair. I had a nice wander but unfortunately/fortunately left empty handed. I saw lots of old tools, sad looking headless dolls, vintage glasses/plates/clothes, antique furniture, oh, and some junk...actually lots of junk. But fun and like I said, I was already up and out and about and I've always wanted to check this out. Now, all I need is to drive someone to the airport at the butt-crack of dawn on a Saturday morning so that I can have the chance to make it to the Alemany Farmer's Market. This is not an offer. Check it out if you too are shuttling friends and family to the airport on a Sunday morning, but other than hardcore flea market goers, I wouldn't make a huge effort to make it here. read more

People bring this junk and you pick it up and think it's the greatest thing ever. I found a hard cover dessert cook book (good as new) for $3. My boyfriend got some very pretty cuff links for $5. Of course, then there is your standard junk, which is just fun to browse through. If you want horrible paintings, used DVDs, VHS, broken music instruments, malfunctioning kitchen aids, this is where you want to be. Like I said, bring hand sanitizer. There's definitely some junk here, but lots of treasures, too. In our first visit last week, we found a copper-plated and ceramic double-boiler in great condition for $30, as well as an old Haribo lunch box for $1 (comparable ones on eBay for $15), some wooden-handled tools for an old costume prop, and a vintage wine box for $10. Heeding other Yelpers' advice, we avoided going on the last Sunday of the month, when most of the serious antique dealers are instead at the monthly Alameda flea market (which is the size of a football field). Alemany is big enough that it offers a wide variety of sellers and items (old tools, fishing gear, kitchenware, plants, clothing, furniture, knick knacks of all eras, etc) but not too big to be overwhelming (unlike Alameda, which will take most of the day to get through). You might be disappointed if you're on a mission for a specific item, but if you're just browsing, you might find more than you expect. Some sellers are more willing to haggle than others, and this also varies widely across the day (toward the end they're more willing to part with heavy or fragile items for less, mostly because they don't want to pack it up). Some vintage items are dirty and virtually untouched; others sellers have taken poor-condition vintage items on as projects to "fix up"into useful items. "Fixing" typically reduces antique/resale value (but increases practical value, depending on the buyer's intent) so make sure to ask questions about anything in suspiciously good condition that you plan to re-sell. Overall, this is a nice Sunday stop between breakfast and lunch. Parking wasn't a problem the day we went, but we may have just gotten lucky. There's also one food truck available if you need a snack or drink halfway through, and we spotted one seller who also brought a cooler of water to sell for $1/bottle. read more

First off.. to all the people who gave this place bad reviews.. I noticed most of you came on the first Sunday of the month.. DUH! The first Sunday of the month is when all the antique and collectibles dealers tend to abandon Alemany and make the trek across the Bay to sell at Alameda! Alemany on the first Sunday is JUST a flea market. Come the other 3 Sundays to see what you have been missing. We always find great items here: antique metal signs, posters, art, jewelry, vintage toys, ect.. It's a great place to go when Alameda is not in full swing. read more

Ok so let me tell you that there is some of the most random ass shit up in this joint. I walked into the place with 10 dollars in cash in pocket, and low expectations. I left an hour later with a hilarious portrait that some little old lady must have painted of her own cat, a plastic wood grained sperm whale case thing that I now use as a jewelry box and a sinking feeling that I would regret leaving the flea market without buying a portrait of Elvis made completely out of jellybeans that I had been eyeing. If you're the type of person who can appreciate these items for what they are, then I highly suggest you come here. If you aren't, then don't bother and free up a parking space for me! read more

I really don't get what people find to be so cool about this flea market. The majority of vendors at this flea market are basically selling crap worthy of the dumpster. Some of these vendors even look like they stole a bunch of random stuff to sell in order to fund their next fix of whatever it is they like to do recreationally. Yes, there are a lot of antiques here, but they are predominately small knick nacks and crap to clutter up your home with. There is mostly a lot of costume jewelry, old ugly clothing/shoes, antiquated electronics (cassette players, old cell phones), beat up artwork, used tools and a plethora of "white elephant" garbage. You can buy counterfeit MAC, Dior and Chanel makeup here too. I tried some fake MAC shadow to compare to the real at home which is okay, but I can distinguish the quality difference. I'd totally stay away from it all together- especially the liners, lipsticks, foundation and mascaras which have been known to have arsenic and other metals in them. There's also a couple vendors selling food which don't look appetizing based on my observation of organization and cleanliness. However, Rita's Food truck looks quite legit and serves up some yummy broccoli beef over rice. I will mention there are a few vendors selling decent furniture, jewelry, and clothing, but I could count them on one hand. Unless, you are looking for little antique knick nacks or costume jewelry, the majority of this flea market is paying for junk you might find in the garbage. read more

I was looking for an old, but nice frame I could fix up for a present. There were dozens of people selling frames, so I had a lot to choose from. Prices aren't super great (final frame I settled on was $25) and people weren't super keen on negotiating, but I did find what I needed. I also like how it's very easy to get to (just off the highway) and had ample parking. read more

This is where the hardcore recyclers of the world come to find an amazing array of STUFF. Here is just a small sampling of what I saw there Sunday: Toys Tools, both ancient and new Carpets Bowls, glasses, plates, utensils, silverware CPAP Machine Nuts, Bolts, Nails, Straps, hold-downs Juice in a bottle Hats, caps headgear Shoes & boots Pictures, Frames "Art" Mirrors Cabinets chairs Magazines, Newspapers Blenders Appliances Old/ancient electronics Binoculars Rocks & Crystals Cameras, projectors Lamps Musical Instruments: Banjo, mandolin, guitars, trombone, flutes Riding Saddle Chachkes Books & CDs Tapes and Records VHS/DVDs etcetera etcetera The only problem is that it is overwhelming to see the cast-offs of humanity in a relatively jumbled collection. Serious collectors line up before opening, but as long as you arrive by 11:00am or so, there's a good chance you still can discover some treasures. The number of booths depends on the weather and the time of year, and the nature of the wares varies from week to week. You can find everything from vintage clothing and dishes to baseball cards to movie posters to pottery to toys from the '70s that you didn't know were collectible when you threw yours away. I recently needed to find an item I could not find on line so I hit the flea market circuit. I had not been to Alemany for several years. I was disappointed that it is a lot less of a flea market than it was a few years back. I visited on Sunday 9/5/13. About 30% of the spaces were occupied when in the old days all of the spaces would have been full. As for selling stuff there were a few people selling overpriced collectibles. I had interest in a sphere a dealer had. She wanted $50 for it, not knowing apparently you could get the same thing downtown for $30 so I passed. It was tacky the tag on it was from the San Mateo County Public Guardian's office meaning it came from a county auction of someones items who had passed on. There were still people selling old tools and mostly junk, a few selling antiques and collectibles, and some vintage clothing. I ran into a local dealer who was complaining what was for sale was so expensive she could not afford to get it for resale for her store. In the old days a lot of the stuff in local antique stores had come from here. It is doubtful this is true today due to the lessening of this flea market as a community resource. if you have nothing better to do a Sunday stroll here might turn up something, but I would not put it high on your list of must see must do places or you will be disappointed. You should know Sunday only is a flea market, Saturday is a farmers market in the same location... Admission is free... read more

This place is awesome! They have actual flea market items, and not just socks and used cell phone chargers for sale. It's large enough to spend a few good hours, and food trucks are parked around the perimeter for refuel. You know it's a sweet place when you see plenty of useless things you just have to buy. I can honestly say (and I feel weird saying this) I have never been so personally offended by a flea market before. It was somewhere between the (what appeared to be) stolen cd cases/books (assuming stolen as they had cd's in them), the racist booth with offensive belt buckles and signs and the asshole who couldn't bother to get off his cell phone to make a sale (and was rude at that). I am the type of person who will stop in the middle of a conversation with a friend while walking down the street to check out something that was thrown out onto the sidewalk. Although I do love the look, smell, and hopefulness of new things,I am intrigued with the used, the ancient, and well traveled. It's exciting how objects can be re-used and refurbished and take on a totally different personality. My friend and I woke up early today to check out this flea market -- I was in search of vessels to hold flowers (teapots, carafes, vases, jars) for my upcoming wedding, and she was in search of vintage clothes. I scored three bottle green mason jars that look brand new, a green vase that reminds me of genies and the smoke they travel on, and a tall pink glass carafe from France. Oh yeah, and I got a slightly rusted tin watering can! Just because I loved the way it looked and smiled at the thought of watering my plants with it. My friend, on the other hand, found little selection in the apparel department. She did spot a darling muave dress but was too lazy to try it on since there was no actual changing room. The market is manageable and not overwhelming--we walked around it twice in a little over an hour. I was glad it wasn't all junk (like stolen socks and ear pickers); it was junky but interesting- stuff you'd never see, even at the Goodwill. At first I was just looking for vases, but after about ten minutes I couldn't help but start perusing through everything but. I'm interested in checking out the Alameda Antique Market but $15/10 to get in! That's a bit discouraging. read more

This is the best place to find great deals and the quirkiest objects! I can't express how much I love the Alemany Flea Market! When it comes to thrifted clothes and second hand bags, this is the place to go! Many of the vendors have long racks of the best vintage and used name brands for sale. And if you're a pro and very convincing, you can definitely make a bargain with the vendor for those gorgeous Ferragamo shoes you've been eyeing all morning! My mom and her husband also love coming her to find used and useful household goods. The other day, they picked up a beautiful old sewing machine built into its own table for just $30!! I mean, how much more amazing can that be?! To top it off, the food trucks here are just delicious for the hungry and the satisfied thrifter. Rita's Filipino Food truck is a MUST!!!!!!!
