We tried Alesta for the first time this evening, without reservations. Arrived about 5:30 to only a few quests in the room and within 30 minutes, people started streaming in. What a great find! Sweet and knowledgeable host, excellent cook.... Food - 5 stars. Sweet Potato Humus with cream fraiche, other sprinkled goodies & oil, Fava Bean purée (pickled onions, nduja parsley), Chicken Kebab skewers (sumac onion, chimichurri, shisito, house hot sauce, pita), and Manti (beef dumplings, garlic yogurt, parsley, brown butter). The Manti is rich and I feel large enough to share if you have other sides. Their Pita is the best I have ever tasted. The best...along with the sweet potato humus. Soooo good. Atmosphere - 4 stars. Cozy, good chairs and they also have a counter area for eating as well. Service - 5 stars. Attentive service from the host. The cook comes out for the flambé dishes and he also served us our main dishes. Humble and genuine...it was lovely to meet him. Price - 4 stars. Our dinner for two, with one beer came to $91 not counting tip ($83 before tax )....so it does add up for two if trying a bunch of things. Quality of food is fresh though and homemade. Can easily recommend. We want to try their lunch menu next time. read more

Hands down the best Mediterranean restaurant in Sebastopol! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful ambiance and the warm, welcoming staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We started with the mezze platter, which included atom, tzatziki, and sweet potato hummus. It was served with crispy fried olives in the center, and every single dip was delicious and full of flavor. For our entrées, I ordered the İskender, and my husband had the lamb shank. The lamb was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we shared the baklava, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It was wonderfully crispy, packed with pistachios, and served with ice cream. Every part of our meal exceeded our expectations. Great food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing Mediterranean food! read more

West Sonoma County lacks great Mediterranean so I had to check out this new spot. And because I lacked time for a sit down, I braved takeout. Let me start by saying the ambiance is simple but bright and sweet. I had a warm welcome and seated at the long bar table with a menu and water. I immediately want branzino but will save that for dining in. So I went with the atom (whipped labne), spanakopita and lamb shank. Though the lamb shank was more tepid than warm, flavors were good. The labne was delightful. Spanakopita was alright. I'm looking forward to trying this place again dining in. We had heard about Alesta opening, and were excited to give it a try! Greek/Middle Eastern cuisine is a favorite, so we didn't wait to get in there and give them a try! The menu is a mix of Italian, Greek, Turkish, and other influences. The Chef came out and talked with us and told us about his inspiration for the dishes. He is from Istanbul, and pulled flavors from around the area to put together the menu for Alesta. We tried to do a tour, while also trying some new dishes. We started with a delicious beet, orange, and walnut salad. We followed this with our entrees - which were Moussaka (eggplant and potato dish with meat sauce and bechamel) and the Iskender (shaved beef with zesty tomato sauce) and pita. These were both delicious! Fresh and well prepared! We finished with the saganaki - though it is not necessarily a desert, we felt it fit better at the end of the meal. It is served flaming - which is a treat. Chef served us Turkish tea at the end of the meal - which was a perfict finale. If you have a taste for Mediterranean food - Alesta brings an authentic view of the richness of these varying cuisines! They are a great new addition to Sonoma County! read more

My friend and I had the Alubias Pulpo (Octopus), Shrimp Paredes, Mediterranean Salad, and Bak Lava, each dish was perfectly cooked and delicious! The chef finished cooking the flambee in the Schrimp with a flame at our table-very nice, extravagant touch! See picture. The texture of the Alubias was like salmon-not the usual octopus/calamari texture-and it was very good! We loved that the Bak Lava was not too sweet but delicious! Welcoming and warm, I sat at the bar on a Thursday evening at 8pm. Half the tables were full as well as half the bar. No wine available as they are eagerly awaiting their alcohol permit from Sacramento. I ordered the Branzino (fish). The babaganoush is fresh and smokey, just as it should be. The sweet potato hummus with crème fraiche is a supple surprise with a very delicate flavor that could be over powered by the pita so I recommend using a spoon to taste. The fish was blackened and combined well with all the flavors and brought a nice contrast of texture. Even the crouton was delicious! read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Alestra. The restaurant is welcoming, clean, and unassuming, with a warm and inviting staff. The service from Jeri was wonderful--she was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, with excellent recommendations for both wine and food. The cabbage dolmas were filled with tender, flavorful beef and beautifully complemented by a delicious marinara and yogurt sauce. The mezes were perfectly seasoned and delightful, and both the beef and chicken kebabs were juicy, tender, and expertly seasoned. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The chefs were gracious, hospitable, and friendly, adding to the lovely overall experience. As a Greek woman and food lover, I seek out Mediterranean food everywhere I travel, so I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious fusion of Mediterranean flavors offered at Alestra. I've grown a ton of appreciation for authentic Turkish food in the last while, and for me, Alesta is where it's at. Food like it's straight from Istanbul, ending with Turkish coffee, just like I like. The best authentic Turkish cuisine I've been able to find in Sonoma County by a long shot. Glad to have this place here and close by for when I get a craving now. Great and welcoming atmosphere, and good customer service on top. I saw yelp reviews and it's Mediterranean food with Turkish and Grecian influences. My son got there first and he grabbed a table, we made a reservation as well, but arrived a bit early. Our waitress was Outstanding! We ordered the appetizer that is breaded cheese with fruit on top doused with Brandy and set on fire!!! I had Manta that is handmade little beef dumplings with sauce and seasonings. my daughter loves med foods, got a meza plate that was fantastic (great way to try the different sauces-- Babaganoush was epic!) My son had "fish on a plate", it was Sea Bass The restaurant is small but cozy. Service was quick, Ice tea really good too! It was my birthday celebration and it was fun! I know my Greek food.... and this is not Greek. Turkish, yes. But then don't say it's Greek I went with 3 other people, and all of us said we would not be back. I usually rate a 'Greek restaurant' with it's Moussaka. This was awful. In Greece they never put tomato sauce on top of Moussaka. Even the tzitiki was not really Greek. I think they should advertise their food as Turkish, not Greek. Sure both countries are in the Mediterranean, but very different areas, and flavors. ... Ambiance was ok. Service was slow. Currently they are having their soft opening. He told me the menu changes daily. We tried lunch. I had the lamb skewer plate and my wife had the Mediterranean salad. The salad was the perfect size, not too big, not too small. She appreciated the beets and pickled onion. My lamb skewer came with salad, rice, pita and tzatziki. It was quite a meal. Everything was fresh and yummy. The service was slower than expected; maybe that is the style or maybe they are working out their systems. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Had lunch there today. Best sweet potato hummus EVER. Also had beet salad with orange sections, arugala, toasted walnuts and cabbage dolmas. These were stuffed with rice & meat with a delicious tomato sauce and crema. All Very flavorable and pleasant service. Can't wait to go back. read more
