The desserts were original, unique, and delightful! Vegan options make this place very versatile with no compromise on taste at all! We hosted a retirement party for girlfriend's mother and it's away from the hustle and bustle of the Barlow for a truly intimate experience. Absolute GEM of a place. I simply cannot write enough compliments for this wine shop and restaurant. What an amazing place. The food is great and the wine pairing is divine. We tried the arancini, artichokes, pear tartlets, mezze platter for appetizers. The arancini and mezze platter were standout. Arancini was perfectly crispy and the pita was so fluffy and flavorful. We had the rigatoni, pesto, and mushroom ravioli - all wonderful and fresh. The desert was delicious and decadent. The wine pairing is the best part of the meal. The sommelier is extremely knowledgeable and kind. He goes out of his way to help you find your perfect wine, no matter how many pours. It was fantastic and I could not recommend it enough. For a unique personalized eating experience La Bodega is the place to go for vegetarian/plant based meals. Our server, Meekk was so friendly, accommodating, and helpful personalizing our food and wine experience at La Bodega. The grandchildren were welcomed(kids menu and balloon animals by Meekk). We enjoyed roasted Roman artichoke hearts(my favorite), saffron rose petal arancini, wild mushroom fettuccini, lasagna "bolognese", pizza and mac & cheese for granddaughters, amaretto tiramisu, mocha pots de crème, chocolate chip cookie, and excellent coffee. What's not to love about this wonderful hidden gem in Sebastopol! It's quirky, charming, intimate, organic and totally worth coming for dinner here. Because the food is so good!!! We came early on a Monday so had the "bodega " all to ourselves. We were treated to being served by Meekk (the greatest!) for a most delicious meal of cauliflower soup, pear tartlets, artichoke hearts, cauliflower bourekas and wild morel ravioli. Dining at La Bodega is an experience and a must-try for all. More than anything, the atmosphere is homey and fun. Customers are viewed as real people and equals, like one of the family in a small town. The gentleman server / som was the life of the party, running personalized tastings at each table. He asked what we thought of each wine, listened thoughtfully to our responses, and curated next taste selections. Great thoughtful wine conversation. I believe the tasting was $50/ea. We live in a different wine region - Paso Robles - and tasted & took home a couple bottles of some unique new flavor profiles and aromas. We are not vegetarian, and this is a strictly vegetarian / vegan restaurant. We went knowing that it's a healthier & more sustainable type of meal. The food was great; possibly some of the best seasoned Italian dishes we've ever had. Anything with a red sauce was fantastic. For meat eaters, we recommend getting a pasta dish. Our favorites were the lasagna and artichoke hearts. The Caesar was very good. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu which was large and fabulous. The owner stopped by to chat, and again it was great conversation & welcoming. Before coming, we did a cheese tasting at Petaluma Cheese & Wine Shop. This wine club is an absolute gem! Every dish we ordered was mouth watering and the menu highlighted cuisine from multiple cultures including Italian, French, and Middle Eastern. My personal favorites were the arancini and meza plate appetizers and clafoutis for dessert. The atmosphere and staff make it feel as if you are in a cozy home and were very friendly and accommodating for dietary restrictions, especially gluten and dairy intolerance. This review needs to be more than five stars! La bodega is a wonderful place, not a restaurant as they mention. It was the only place open on 4th of July for dinner. They took my family in last minute, even though they normally have folks preorder before coming in. Our server Meeke was wonderful and really brought in the home style service while taking our order. The menu is all vegetarian or vegan options, and has focus on local produce. The table also has nice dahlias and a cute wine bottle lamp. Ambience was wonderful. We ordered two soups- tomato soup and French lentil soup, beet salad for starting. Both were delicious. It also came with a baguette which was freshly baked for the table. For entrees we ordered the spinach ravioli and arrancini. The saffron arrancini was delectable, so good with a minute piece of cheese as a surprise. At the end we were so full and didn't order dessert. Meeke was so sweet and got us four pieces of chocolate with walnuts and agave made at the restaurant- a small and sweet finish! After a lot of consideration of restaurants between Santa Rosa, Sebastopol and Bodega Bay, I was excited to try La Bodega with my husband to celebrate his birthday. We're both vegan athletes and fitness professionals so we always seek out the best plant-based options wherever we travel. I was able to make a reservation weeks in advance, and reached out with a couple of questions regarding the menu. Bryan kindly responded to my emails and helped us get set up for our upcoming visit. It's really great and worth noting that you pre-order your meal before you arrive to reduce food waste and help the kitchen plan their day. This also got us more excited about checking out the menu and making our picks! Of course if there are more things you want to order when you're there, it's totally fine. We pre-ordered the Plant-based Beet Salad (made w/ vegan Mozzarella), the Saffron & Rose Petal Arancini, and the Organic Spaghetti w/ Mushroom Sauce. Just an FYI, their menu is divided into Plant-based (vegan) options and vegetarian options. The standout here was their Arancini! The last time we had Arancini was when we were in Sicily for our honeymoon a few years ago, which is where these rice balls originate from, so we had high expectations. Our server, Meekk, was awesome! Very friendly, welcoming and attentive. She made our whole experience even better. Ori was friendly as well, but we were very surprised that he sort of threw us into a whole wine tasting thing that we didn't even ask for. We thought he was just trying to be extra helpful and educate us more on choosing a glass of wine to accompany our meal, but by the end of our dinner, we had at least 7-10 glasses in front of us and were "feeling it!" Just be aware if you're not expecting this. We were charged an additional $50 for 2 wine tastings. It was my hubby's birthday, so we just went along with it despite our hesitation (and confusion)! The best part was the whole dining room singing "Happy Birthday" to my hubby, and Meekk bringing out a little dessert bite with a candle on it. From the reservation/booking experience to actually sitting down and eating here, everything felt extremely personal and so much care was put into our experience. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and they made it so incredibly special for us. The menu is strikingly unique- with vegetarian and vegan creations that will knock your socks off. The restaurant's ambiance is a rustic setting where we were greeted with a warm welcome and a big hug. We felt as if we were coming home to our family. Ori, our wine presenter, asked our palate preferences. He is not only a wine presenter, but a wine enthusiast who does not drink. He clearly knows how to listen to his guests' wine preferences because Ori narrowed our wine selection in less than four complimentary tastes. Wowie Zowie!!! 4 of us had an amazing feast. In addition to the 3 course meals we had pre-ordered the owners decided that we needed to eat several other items plus all 7 desserts! This was my first visit. Upon entering what is a jumbled mess of of wine shelves, rustic dining tables, fresh produce, various and sundry art I was immediately greeted by the owners. Their enthusiasm was life affirming and robust. Before sitting at a dining table we were offered several wines with the intent that the owner could know our palate preferences. He wanted to know this so he could knowledgeably choose wines for us throughout the sumptuous meal. For the most part he hit the flavor targets dead straight. And we sampled about 10 wines. What he called just sample tastes were sometimes 4 ounce pours. I have never enjoyed such a restaurant experience like this is the USA. I have been lucky enough to enjoy a few similar experiences like this 2.5 hour feast in Italy, that was with distant family who greeted me like a prodigal son. We had such a great evening at La Bodega. The Romeo wine dinner was firing on all cylinders, amazing food matched with delicious wines. We even had the luck of being joined by the winemaker who gave in depth descriptions of the wines accompanied by fascinating stories of the history of winemaking in Sonoma and Napa. In fact, we had initially ordered a lentil soup, but they recommended the minestrone instead (lovely fresh pesto on top, full of veggies). We loved the Mediterranean platter, especially the fresh pita. The arancini were excellent, paired with a bright tomato sauce. We both loved our entrees (vegan beef and lamb brochettes, morel mushroom pasta) though i had to add a bit of salt to the pasta.
