I come to Alestone for trivia on Thursday and for dinners/ grab a quick beer! I love the fact that there is a sandwich and pizza menu, and options for smaller children such as grilled cheese and hot dogs. My daughter loves grabbing a hot dog while we are here. I have tried the Cuban sandwich and the pizzas (porky pie, cheese, Bianca) all are delicious! I also have had many of the sours here as well. Last time I stopped by I did a gose and sour, I forgot the names but both were delicious! You won't be disappointed, the location is kid friendly and dog friendly too! I've bought and used 3 Groupon coupons and even though I live in Orlando and my friends live in Kissimmee, we don't mind the long drive because the pizza and the beer is very good. My friend's husband who has allergies loves the pizza without cheese but during this last visit, I asked a question why they needed my bank card since I already paid through Groupon. I was given an impolite answer, "Are you going to tip me?" I always tip on the service received and I wasn't aware tipping is mandatory here. Sorry to say that this was a turn off and we won't be returning. It's true what they say, one draws more flies with honey than vinegar. read more

In case you weren't aware, Orlando is ranked 46 out of 50 when it comes to beer/breweries in large metro areas. That's right. We're one of the worst. So anytime we get a new brewery (yes Longwood counts as Orlando metro) it's cause for curiosity, and if the brewery is actually good, it's cause for excitement. Alestone Brewing (not the most ambitious or creative brand name) belongs in that "good" category and a reason to be excited. It's a new brewery in the Longwood Station strip mall thingy across from historic downtown Longwood. And it's run by one of the original founders of Hourglass Brewing. The place is brand new. And clearly a family-run business. It's still being pieced together in fact. There's really no decor or vibe to speak of, but the space is large, the outdoor patio is big too and relatively nice, the people are all knowledgable about beer and nice, and here's the most important part, the beer is pretty damn good. I've had them all basically, and there's a good 15 or so on tap. All of their imperial stouts are flavorful and strong as all get out. I think 11% or something like that. Their typical, new brewery, expected craft kit styles - like a dunkel, or whitbeer, or ESB, or red ale - are actually done well and surprisingly good, even for those sorta generic 1st-gen styles. The hazy IPA, though, is really well done. The lager is nice. And the Florida IPA grows on you. And it's strong too. In fact, the beers here tend to pack a pretty good punch, which is nice, especially because of how fresh and clean they come across. In general, there's lot of promise here. You can tell there's experience and talent behind the brewing. Now it's just a matter of time for the place to establish an identity, add character and food, keep making new styles of beer, and eventually hit a few home runs. I've got faith. And Orlando has a new good brewery. read more

Stopped here on a whim tonight after seeing the amazing reviews and I must say they did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of Big Rick being our bartender and he was a joy. Attentive, funny, and knowledgeable. His drink recommendations were spot on, we ended up getting the Grapefruit & Chill, Prancercise, and Standard Classic and those in combination with our food was perfection. We gave this place a second chance. Food quality has gone down even more. To top it off they charged us twice and we are now trying to get our money back and nobody has called me back about the double charge in over a week. Went into the place today and was told owner isn't in and they are closed tomorrow. Threatened a bad review and was told that 1 bad review won't hurt them. Bartender even took a pic of my account where I showed the double charge. Not trying to hurt them just want my money back! Having to dispute with credit card company!!! Never going back. Eh, went on Fathers Day and were some of the first few in. Three stars, as it did get crowded, and the one woman working handled it the best anyone could. Neither of us were a fan of any of the beers we tried on two flights. The pizza was ok. The worst part though is that I swear my phone/card got hacked there. Something tells me it was the guy who was on a laptop in the back the whole time. I certainly don't hold the establishment accountable and certainly hope it wasn't their credit card process/app, but all being said, it was probably not somewhere we'd go a second time. Really impressed with the beer here! A lot of the time it seems like new breweries take some time to get their recipes down when they first open, but not the case here. We had the Jorts on the Congo and the Jump Tree and both were perfect on a hot Orlando day. We brought our two dogs and sat out on the covered patio which was nice (happy to report they have fans on the patio as well!). The service is what made this place memorable. Every bar human was so friendly and sincere. I loved it. I am not a beer human but I did have a few of their blackberry pear cider deliciousness. It was the perfect refreshing beverage, a lil tart a lil sweet to cool off outside while watching good musical performances they hosted. A local brewhouse is ubiquitous in this area. So many choices within a 15-20 min drive. A fairly spartan layout. Not many folks at 5pm happy hour surprised us. Wonder where everyone went? The cheerful bartender told us they had been open a little over a year. Our immediate impression: why are the tv's and the beer menu all so small and so far away? A very high ceiling with the AC ductwork mounted to the ceiling way up at the top of the large open room accentuated the height of this one-story building making the small undersized tv's hung in the corners virtually unwatchable. The beer was cold. The folks working here were friendly and approachable. But the sparse furnishings and soaring ceiling made us feel like we were in a warehouse. Not a very warm and welcoming place to just relax and have a few beers and enjoy some food. We both thought the owner would benefit hugely by getting a professional interior designer to come in and re-work his interior. It's the little things that make a house a home. Same with this cavernous warehouse pretending to be a micro-brewery. Just our opinion. read more

Then a women who was drinking at the bar, with biker shorts up her butt with tattoos down her leg started yelling at our party about kids playing with chalk outside..even though chalk was provided by the venue and they had kid games. The act like they are kid friendly then have drunk women from the bar harass small children. This lady was drinking at the bar but acting like a manager. I would never come back here. Beer is average, food is average, service is terrible and they treat kids like shit. Don't come. Stay away. It is not worth it. read more

Not a lot on the food menu, but what they do have is decently priced and pretty tasty. Their drink selection is a lot smaller than Hourglass, but it's also pretty decent. The staff is usually pretty friendly, and there is an outdoor seating area that's covered so you can still sit outside even if it's raining. Beware, the Sunrail blows right past the outdoor section so you're gonna have a lot of loud noise quite frequently. All in all not a bad place. 4/5 stars. Boom. read more

My girlfriend and I visited here for our first time today. There are games set up throughout the brewery, and there is a selection of handhelds and pizza on the menu. Cynthia was our bartender and she was beyond friendly and informative. She gladly let us sample multiple beers till we got the ones we liked. I personally have really enjoyed our 2 visits here. We came as a family (husband, myself and our 14mo old). The first time we met another family out and the girls played outside on their nice cover patio, toys, fans, a tv, eclectic music playing in the background. The second time we invited another family with a 5 year old and the space and toys were a hit. The inside is clean open and games are all around on tables to play. The beer was good, though they do run out. I was told the couple I asked about would be back. They have some food options mainly pizza which was good. Some suggestions to just make this place next level are: add a changing table for the families coming. On that same note add some drink options for none drinkers (pregnant, older kids, DD's, people who choose not to drink but like to still hang out). Outside of that I think it's a great addition to Longwood and I can't wait to watch it grow. Maybe some live music is in its future. Definitely recommend! read more

Wow! I will start with the menu. We had the Toasted Italian and Cuban. The bread was pressed perfectly, not too hard but just right. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and the chef knows their trade. Can't wait to come back for the rest of the menu. Looks like they hand toss their pizza's too. For the beer, they had 18 beers on tap they brew in house. We shared a flight and loved the Pelican Nightmares IPA, dumb robot Hazy IPA, and Death: Sin Imperial Stout. We went on a Monday, MLKJ Day, a holiday a little after 1 pm and although the inside was not crowded, there was a big group outside and I guess that's why we waited over half an hour for our food. It would have been nice if the server had noted the delay and approached us about it; however, once we asked, she apologized and offered a free beer which we declined because we understand delays happen. That being said, I loved my ale - Standard Classic which was cold, crisp and refreshing. Hubby had the Italian Sandwich which he liked and it was tasty with fresh basil. The bread was not thick which I liked. I had the Philly Cheese Steak with green peppers and onions which to my surprise were uncooked but I ate it all cause I was hungry. It's not the type of Philly I'm used to but it was tasty. We each got a pickle and some addictive potato chips which were thick and crunchy.
