We had an interesting experience with this company, to say the least. Let me preface with- you get what you pay for.... The crew came out to demo some hardwood flooring for us. In the process, they severely damaged the concrete sub floor and did not offer to help remediate the situation. What was odd was that the owner was at the project site overseeing the crew and did not redirect their technique or have them remediate. (Some smaller damage they left was breaking our gas connector, damaging some of the sheetrock along our baseboards, chucking up debris that left dings and nicks in our paint and wood trim. Had they paid a little more attention to their technique and perhaps covered the work spaces a litter more carefully, all this residual damage could have been avoided.) We are not unreasonable and understand construction takes unexpected turns at times, but the frustration lies in the lack of professionalism and accountability this company displayed. We have met some excellent contractors during our home remodeling process who have explained their plans to us and involved us in the process if things came up/plans changed. We recently had another contractor make an error, acknowledge it, and come back promptly to remediate for us. This is what I call professionalism. However, Alexander Flooring was the opposite experience for us, sadly. Think twice about contracting with these guys. We thought we could save some money, but at the end of the day, the damage left behind ended up costing us more in both time and money and delaying our project. Had I been able to predict this, I would have paid extra to have the job done right the first time. read more

I had to rip up all the flooring in the kitchen, living, and dining room due to water damage, which was going to be expensive. I received a quote from Alexander and his pricing was fair and competitive for the amount of work he put in. He answered all my questions and returned all of my text messages in a timely manner. He was able to save 95% of my floors and reinstall them after I addressed my drain leak. That saved me a lot of money. Alexander and his guys came to our house expecting a simple install of retro fit vinyl treads...we quickly figured out we had purchased the wrong size treads and we couldn't get the right size any time soon. I've struggled about leaving a negative review but one of my contractors that met them on my job used them and also had the same negative experiences and I felt obligated to leave this review as I only hired them due to their great reviews. I reached out to many companies and used them because they seemed to be the most fair. They came to give an estimate and never gave a formal estimate just verbal and a flat rate. One specific part of the quote was on baseboards. I needed baseboards installed and we had a specific discussion whether or not I wanted them painted or not. I was under the impression the baseboards were included but blamed myself later when he said they weren't since I had not gotten an actual breakdown of costs. Things seemed to be looking great and beautiful until they got to the stairs and upstairs. The amount of caulking and wood filler that covers huge areas was so messy and truly terrible craftsmanship. They complained many times that they underbid the job. They also were asking for large chunks of money up front and often but being that my father is a contractor I know that they cannot exceed a certain amount of costs. When they said they were done I did a walk through and found a ton of stuff that needed touch ups and clean up including some glue and debris that were forever stuck on walls etc. many areas of fillers that are different sizes and smeared up onto tiles. I agreed to pay them in full if they promised to come back to fix the stairs and upstairs hall and he promised he would the next day. After he left I was putting my room back together and pulled a roll away crib from a mirrored night stand and found that one of the drawers was missing the mirrored glass. There was no remnants of broken mirror and I had been in and out of the property and no one else had been upstairs. They moved my furniture to do my bedroom. I calmly asked if they had broken the dresser and he was defensive and said no. I asked if he could ask his team because whoever broke it, cleaned up and placed the crib in front of it so I wouldn't have seen. I never accuse anyone of anything but no one touched my furniture but them and the crib was placed in front of it by them which is why I didn't notice it in walk through. I prayed they would have just been honest as I had a ton of work for them and so many people looking for a good flooring company. He was very upset I asked about the dresser and never responded to my messages about coming back to clean up the huge mess and poor installation on the stairs. There are also pieces of flooring all over the home that are not level so you get splinters or can scratch up your feet. I let it go and was going to hire someone else to fix their mess and work but my cabinet installer reached out and told me that he used them on a job as they met on mine and it was the same experience as mine. He stated that he had to go back to remove an entire staircase and redo it himself and like me, no response from Alexander. All I wanted from Alexander was to finish the job and to be honest about the dresser. I would have been happy to repair it myself with a mirror piece if he was simply honest about the damage or at least sympathized with the situation considering they were the only ones who touched it. I would have been thrilled to refer them jobs if they came back to finish their job and what he promised he would fix on the stairs and upstairs. He mentioned many times he "underpriced" the job and you could see the frustration as they went further as thats where the big mess continued and issues with craftsmanship. I truly enjoyed Alexander but like other reviews State - you need to get it in writing with a full breakdown and you need to make sure the job is 100% complete before paying because like he did to myself and the contractor, he didn't show back up to finish. The entire team is extremely professional, reliable, and work very fast they did such an outstanding job throughout our house. It's been a few weeks since Alexander flooring came out to repair the boards around my downstairs toilet. I wanted to make sure all was well before I reviewed and I have to say, he didn't disappoint. Prices were reasonable; since it was a repair and I had the materials, he just charged me for the work. They were on time, clean and quick. Would totally recommend to anyone looking for repairs. Hello All, I hope this review puts some value to Alex's work. We had Alex come out to give us a quote on Friday. He saw our house, gave us a quote. We wanted to get vinyl planks in our dining room area, stairs and our entire second floor. We booked him on Friday afternoon and told him we had bought the material already but it was at the store and he would have to pick it up. Along with leveling our second floor, bringing in the stair risers, self leveling cement and god knows what else, he texts me on monday and tells me he has brought the material and needs access to the house. On tuesday he had installed all the tiles and had completed the job. Not once did he mention money to us, not once did he give us trouble and tell us that WE would have to bring something from store. He literally handled everything for us and was done before the time he had mentioned he would be done by. I couldnt have been happier with his work and with his promptness. Alex and his team are as good as you may find in this business. Alex met me in advance, measured the job, and provided an estimate that was competitive against others. His crew showed up sharp on time on the day of install and completed the job of removing the carpet and installing SPC over 1200 sq ft including 16 steps, quarter rounds throughout, and T-moldings in 2 1/2 days.
