I needed movers quickly and on very short notice. I had used Alexander Movers many years ago and it was a great experience, so I reached out to them. I spoke with Anthony on Saturday, 6/27. I explained my situation. He was courteous, professional and had me scheduled for Monday, 6/29. On the morning of the move, the lead, Lamar, contacted me twice to provide details and confirm the estimated time frame of arrival. They arrived promptly and while Lamar went over the paperwork with me, his crew got to work. Lamar explained everything in great detail. By the time the paperwork was completed, they had moved most all of the items onto the truck! I also had two drop off locations. They completed the first drop off in about twenty minutes and we moved on to the final destination. It was a three man crew with three hours. They completed the job in its entirety in two hours. It was extremely hot and these guys worked so hard and efficiently to make it a smooth transition. When I contacted Alexander Movers, I had been literally stood up by TWO other companies. I was scheduled promptly and everything went according to plan because of their hard work and efforts. They literally saved me. Prior to contacting them, I was stressed and didn't know what I was going to do to get it all done. My first experience with Alexander Movers all those years ago was great and this one due to the circumstances was even better. My family has used Alexander Movers for years and have never had any issues. The crews have always been nice and go above and beyond. They move a consistent speed and get the job done. Nothing of our belongings have never been damaged. I currently rent from the owner of the moving company, so when my mom called to get a quote and gave them my address they were excited they we decided to use their "brother" company. The moving company she initially was going to use backed out on her last minute claiming they were overbooked and their may have been an issue with their system, and they wouldn't be able to accommodate her at all. Nevertheless, they booked her last minute with no hassle after being informed of the situation and that her move wouldn't be as long since she wasn't doing a traditional move. My mother moved out of state, and her husband drove to Chicago with his trailer. We only needed them to pack her trailer to go back down to Atlanta and pack up the company's truck to bring furniture my apartment. My mom was still packing ins and odds upon their arrival, and they helped her out a great ton. The furniture was heavy and they had to bring it up a 4th floor walk-up to my apartment(We had Gatorade ready for them in the freezer and they were beyond appreciative) It's hard to find black owned businesses who run their business like they should. They kept us updated on the arrival times, didn't do anything shady with paperwork, stayed professional from start to finish. Kudos to you guys! read more

The absolute best in the business, hands down. Seeing is believing. Mere words don't describe how wonderful they are at what they do. They took extra special care of my furniture. Every piece of furniture was wrapped in plastic and or covered in padded protective blankets. They took apart my bed, tables, detached my dresser from my mirror etc and put every piece back together perfectly. Not one piece of my furniture was damaged. As a matter of fact, Lamont was so meticulous, he noticed screws were missing in my dining room chair and replaced them. No damage to my walls, trim or my new floors...These guys went above and beyond and made what is typically a stressful situation into truly stress free rememberable occasion. I felt well taken care of by Alexander Movers. Lamar, Lamont Thayle and Kendall are courteous, professional, strong as ever and just super nice guys. They all keep my Mom and I laughing, especially Lamar. He keep things light and fun but stayed focused on the task at hand and finished moving me in about 5 hours.... I started my mover search really late and almost didn't have any options since it was near the EOM and a lot of movers were unavailable. I found Alexander Movers on Yelp and they were friendly and very helpful from the start. The customer service agent was informative and quickly responded to my message inquiry. Once I booked for my move and they contacted me the day before and of to verify their time of their arrival. The movers were head of schedule once the pricing and policy was explained, they promptly began to move my things. The day of the move Alexander came with 4 men and a bigger trunk then expected. They proceed to efficiently moved my all my items and informed me of any issues that came up. They even reassembled all of the furniture that needed to be broken down. I moved from an apt to a house and they did it all in 2hrs 50mins. Alexander has been servicing the community for 50yrs they were very courtesy, polite, helpful and their customer service was exemplary. I highly recommend Alexander Movers and will use again but hopefully I won't be moving again any time soon. read more

My name is James and my wife and I moved yesterday on Sept. 1 . I have moved many times in Chicago and as we all know it is the most stressful situation you can go thru...Last time I went with a big name company,,,,won't say who but I hope the BULL'S like them, well we hired Alexanders Moving. The guy's called us early,,,,they were right on time and they were polite,,,careful,,,curteous and the supervisor took his time with all the paper work with me. We have a lot of art work and they were very careful in handling it...plus crystal which they made sure was wrapped properly..I have never seen a crew move so fast and efficent...we were moved in record time with no damage.....by the end of the move we were all on a first name basis and I was so stress free.. My wife and I are newlyweds and hired Alexander Movers for a complex "Four Part" move in Chicago. They arrived at 8:00 am at my South Shore Apt., navigated three flights of stairs, disassembled a bedroom set, sectional, futon, mirrors, etc. in less than two hours. They proceeded to my wife's condo and had to go through a similar process and moved all of our furniture to another condo, fortunately there were elevators at this location. They wrapped furnishings and packed the truck with logistical competence that allowed for efficient unloading. Adherence to COVID-19 protocols were observed by all five men in the job at all times. Furniture was reassembled and their were "no" casualties with the furniture or newly painted walls. The moving team then proceeded to my sons' apartments (2), moved furniture in and reassembled accordingly. They were pleased as well with the job. This masterful moving crew was done by 4:00 pm and the price was right. Awesome job! read more

I moved out of my apartment on May 31 and Alexander Movers were great. I wanted to move as early as possible because I had a wedding to attend later in the day so they called me the day of the move and asked if I wanted to start earlier than the planned start time which was very helpful! I had to make a stop to move things into my storage and then a second stop to move things into another apartment. They were very efficient and worked diligently to complete the move. The only recommendation I would make for them is to ensure to tell people as early as possible that Sunday moves can only be paid in cash. I was informed this on a Saturday evening when I received the confirmation call and my move was the next morning. I couldn't be happier with my moving experience. I was contacted several times prior to my move to confirm the details of the move including the morning of. The truck pulled up on time with a full crew. Lamar introduced Theo, Cordell, and Don as they entered my property with protective masks as required due to COVID restrictions and began to survey each room. Lamar went through the forms for me to sign while explaining terms, liability, charges, etc. The crew got to work immediately and moved quickly. They worked hard and efficiently at each stop. When the move was complete, Lamar went over the charges with me again and finished up with a socially distant elbow bump and some laughs. My experience was phenomenal today with Alexander Movers Lamar, Theo, and Darius! They were timely, friendly, professional, and the experience was overall exceptional! From the day I requested the rate, I received personalized service and their best rate! Secretary Carla made me feel like they would take care of everything. The initial pickup was a super success, wrapped items that needed to be wrapped, and placed all items on truck within 30 minutes. Their service to deliver the items was smooth and thorough; they helped me place items where they needed to be and cleaned my patio with the remaining time! All I can say is Wow! I have hired Alexander Movers at least 5 times since 1999 and they never disappoint me - - they've done a great job every time (never once breaking or damaging not even 1 item), AND they also get the job done fast! The actual moving crew has always been punctual, courteous and careful to make sure all my special items (TV, Glass, mirrors, etc.) were carefully packed so they wouldn't get damaged. And their office staff always called afterwards to make sure we received great service. They are the only movers I would use and will definitely recommend them to anyone! These movers are super friendly, funny and FAST. Lamar, Theo, Joe, Willie and Devan made me smile throughout a stressful move. I appreciated the flat rate guarantee. There was no nonsense about truck fees and mileage. The gentlemen unloaded all the boxes in exactly the way that I wanted, sorting boxes by different labels (A, B and C.) They get the job done without a lot of fuss or extra complexity. They only took apart things that really needed instead of wasting a lot of time disassembling and wrapping every piece. On 12/30/17, my husband and I used Alexander Mover's to move into our new home. Although the crew was a bit late because they had to stop for fuel, the manager gave me a call prior to my move time to inform me that they were going to be a few minutes late, and the movers came at the new time. Fletcher, Antonio, and Ben were very professional. Fletcher explained the process and the forms to us and answered any questions we had. The three gentleman were very efficient and tried to the best of their ability to complete the move within the stated time frame. This is my third time using Alexander Mover's. OMGG!!! So this was my second Move...and my experience I had with Aaron Brothers was so HORRID..That I did not want to go through that EVER again. When my Move captain Joseph met me at my apartment and when we were doing the paper work he reassured me that his guys would be professional, and pack my things up with in a very timely manner and handle with care...And boy they did!!! I moved some personal effects from a storage unit in an Extra Space Storage to a smaller locker yesterday. I contacted Alexander Movers after searching for a moving company on the South Side. The customer service person who arranged the move and followed up was very professional. The two movers assigned - Kendall and Willie - arrived on time, were very efficient at packing my personal effects into the smaller storage unit with extra space for additional personal effects. We used Alexander movers on August 29, 2017. I was nervous because we hadn't moved in 17 years. Needless to say I was extremely satisfied with their services. They moved a very old very heavy dresser without having to remove my front door as another mover had done in the past. Additionally they wrapped and moved my precious art pieces without any damage.
