I found out about Rafael Floors from the great reviews they have. I was looking for carpet in my 3…read morebedrooms and hallway of my condo. I looked at a few places that didn't cut it. When I went to Rafael Floors and spoke with Robert Gomez, I was really impressed with his knowledge about flooring and carpeting. It was obvious he had decades of experience. I told him what I was looking for, and he answered a bunch of questions I had about carpet, quality, and the selection. I went home with several samples to check out how they looked in the different light throughout the day. After looking at the samples in my place for a week, I found the perfect carpet and color I wanted. Robert came over for measurements and an estimate. Everything had gone smoothly and professional to this point where in other places there were flags that would stop me cold, and I would stop the process and move on. The whole selection and purchase process with Robert went smoothly, and they were ready to install the carpet before I was because I had some painting that needed to be done, and I had to delay them several times. When I was finally ready, Juan and Douglas arrived on time to install the carpet. It was a two-day process, and I was really impressed how methodical they were. It was like they were putting together a puzzle they were really familiar with and each part was being sized and put in its place. I later found out that Rafael Floors has a lengthy training process for their installers that takes years. It starts with a 5-year apprentice program where they work under a journeyman installer before they can go out to install a carpet. Juan described to me what a momentous and serious occasion it was after 5 years to finally have a project of his own and being responsible for all the materials and making the customer happy. They did a perfect job and I was one happy customer. That was 3 months ago and I wanted to be sure that others would see my review like I saw others' so they would know what I know about Rafael Floors. The owner made sure I knew there would be a delivery charge and that he would add it to my final bill (so that I wouldn't mistakenly pay the delivery folks too). The delivery guys were friendly and when I asked to have them lift the benches up so I could put the little stickies on the legs to avoid scratching my hardwood floors, they replied "oh we already did that for you!" WOW that is really considerate. Thank you!

I found the store personnel very irritating as they made commitments on availability each time and then acted as though it wasn't their fault that delivery was substantially delayed from what they said. I have never had to follow up so many times with any vendor to actually get the merchandise I had paid for 100% in full in advance. The quality seems okay, though the custom pillows were exceptionally overpriced for the product. West Elm, Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn all have superior quality products for a fraction of the price. Overall a disappointing experience and I will never shop here again.
