So, a couple of weeks ago, when we were in the market for a new runner rug, Linda was the first person we called. She had a good selection of runners. We took one 20' runner home for a free trial and ended up keeping it. Price-wise, it was comparable to the 20' runners we were finding online, but with the benefit of being able to return it hassle-free if we didn't like the way it looked in the house. My wife and I recently purchased a Kerman wool rug for the living room of our new house. I found Linda, and her rug house, on Craig's List about a year ago. What I found was a wonderful, personable, woman who knows and cares about handmade tribal rugs. I never felt anything but a real interest in helping me find the rug that would work for me, maybe even a magical rug! Well, I found two unique rugs that I love having in my apartment. One is a hall runner, and the other is an area rug. Both are colorful, soft, and hand loomed wool, one of a kind rugs. A good, interesting, and pleasing rug can bring happiness and joy to an apartment. Getting one or more rugs is kind of like a journey into art, craft, personal taste, and even world history. Just moved to SF. Looking for a rug, maybe 2. Always had a fascination and love for them, never owned one. I called Linda. She was nice, gracious to a newbie, available, and so I went over the day after I called. She asked me if I could move back by a half hour because she was coming from the organic market. Once there I was greeted by a stack of a dozen or so rugs and tons of trinkets in every nook. They only showed me a few. When I asked to see more they took me downstairs where I saw what seemed like a couple of hundred rolled and folded up. Over the next couple of hours I saw a couple of dozen maybe. They were patient and like the other posters said, forced me to take home a couple of extra. I left with 7. Returned 2 that were awesome (no room). Two that I thought would go alongside the bed ended up much better in the hallway. I love my 5 rugs. And the experience was just as valuable. In addition to being nice and fun to talk with, they showed me a bunch of their collection. You would never guess it from the outside that their house is packed with this kind of intricate beauty. I looked everywhere for the perfect 10'x12' rug and never thought I would find it in a house in the Sunset. She works out of her home, has antique and modern rugs from all over the Caucasus, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey. This may come as a surprise to you, but you don't have to bargain with shady rug dealers to get GREAT rugs anymore! Linda and Pete were delightful to work with. They have fantastic rugs, and will work within your budget. Surprisingly, in this case, that does NOT mean that you'll be getting cheap stuff! All of their rugs are top quality, and the price depends on what THEY paid for the rugs. Linda has a wealth of knowledge, so you will learn a lot while you're hunting for your ideal rug (which will probably turn into your ideal RUGS by the end of your time there). Since I wasn't sure which ones would work in the space, she let me take home five rugs at a time to try them out! And I came back a couple times to restock. She and Pete spent so much time with me trying to find just the right fit! So if you're considering oriental rugs for your home, you should absolutely call Linda. The rug business is full of shady characters misrepresenting what they're selling and fancy retail stores where the mark-up is ridiculous. Which is why I was thrilled to find "Linda's Rug House" run by Linda and Peter, a true mom-and-pop operation that they run out of their garage in the Inner Sunset. They specialize in rugs made by Afghani refugees in Pakistan and are a wealth of information about the rug making process. I bought an absolutely gorgeous Choubi Soumak flatweave rug from them several years ago and just stopped by their place a few days ago and saw lots of beautiful new rugs that had just arrived. They are extremely honest, easy to deal with, and friendly. 5+ stars for the service and integrity, 3 stars for the set-up since it's a small, cramped space but they are passing the savings on to you that would otherwise be spent on an upscale storefront. It's far from glamorous but if you can get past that you'll find incredible rugs at great prices. If you have pet allergies just be sure to let them know since they've got a few cats and a small dog running around in the main part of the house where business is conducted. read more

We looked all over for a reasonably-priced runner for our long San Francisco hallway. We found Linda's on Yelp and were not disappointed. They let us take home 4 different rugs to try out for a small deposit. One of them worked beautifully. We never really realized how enjoyable it is to have artwork underfoot. We tried to find a match on eBay since they only had one of that kind, and thought we found one for half of Linda's price. Don't make the same mistake - it was a piece of crap. The colors were awful and the rug was crooked and the pile was uneven. Linda's stock is much, much nicer. When we need more rugs we'll defintely be back! read more

I took home one rug - didn't quite work but it helped me focus on what I did want.
