This place is meh... wouldn't return. FYI since breakfast is my favorite meal time I have no mercy when reviewing. I have this odd thing that I've realized that if the coffee is bad then 7 outta 10 times the food will suck and it was true but food didnt totally suck. The coffee had weird aftertaste and I thought I'd ruined it because I put flavoured creamer in their flavoured coffee. I tried again and nope jus crap in a cup. I like the rice and chicken soup though. I ordered the breakfast panini it was ok jus the carmelized onions mixed oddly with the flavour profile [ skip em ]. But overall our server! Oh em gee.. I had to name her Jenny [ cuz she looks like a Jenny or a Julia] because she didnt have a name tag and she didn't tell us her name or didnt even wait at our table long enough for me to ask. I literally asked for the hot sauce [ cuz who doenst do hash brown and hotsauce?! ] and as I was about 2 ask for ketchup for my b.f.' daughter when poof she was gone. I literally didnt even get to asking the 2nd question...she just walked away mid request lol. She brought my b.f. and his daughter water but I guess I wasn't deserving of a cup myself or didnt even come back so I could ask for ketchup and napkins... wow she sucked. This is one of our go-to favorites near home. You can always count on great food and awesome service. And they have a couple slot machines tucked away in the back if the mood strikes you. My husband used to dine at Alexander's with his family when he was a child. Apparently they went so often he didn't have the fondest memories and didn't want to ever go back. But after years of passing by the place, and the fact that they remodeled, he caved when I mentioned I'd like to go. Anyhow, we had an early dinner (4:30) on a Saturday so it wasn't packed by any means. Our server Ben was very pleasant and helpful. When I told him our son was getting over a stomach bug, Ben made sure our table was constantly stocked with bread and thoughtfully suggested bringing him Sprite. We ordered the Mediterranean Chicken, Meatloaf melt, and a kid's cheeseburger meal. The chicken was cooked well and the roasted potatoes were very flavorful. My only complaint was the steamed veggies of broccoli and carrots. They just weren't cooked enough so I had a hard time stabbing them with my fork. My hubby enjoyed his meatloaf melt, which was served as an open-faced sandwich with onion straws piled high--making a nice presentation. Our daughter's cheeseburger meal came with 2 small sliders. I noticed mold on top of one of the buns, which Ben whisked away and brought another order shortly thereafter. And like a good restaurant should, her meal was comped. As we were leaving, I ordered a chai tea latte to go. I wanted to see if theirs would be better than Panera's. Unfortunately, I found it to be very milk-heavy. But it's cheaper than Panera's so I'll probably start getting them from Alexander's when I'm in the area. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back! read more

Had a late night dinner over the weekend with my boyfriend. I had a side of chicken noodle soup, Caprese chicken w sweet potato fries and he had braised pork tacos. All the food was very fresh and extremely tasty. Server was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere alone will make nth of us come back. We took the chocolate crime pie to go. My wife and I wanted to find a nice sit down family style restaurant and Alexanders Café certainly fits the bill! It is a very modern, elegant in simplicity in terms of décor, fair prices, impeccable service, we will be coming back for years to come! We were seated promptly (which was a surprise considering it was 6:45 PM on a Friday night). Alex was our server, and he was excellent! I had the meatloaf and my wife chose the chicken fried steak. Intimate setting but casual enough for families with kids. Nice surprise upon waking in, live piano player playing my favorite Billy Joel's - Piano Man. Calamari was thick sliced and the remoulade was great. Caprese Chicken has good grill marks topped with fresh mozzarella, diced tomatoes, basil and topped with a thick balsamic drizzle. My family and I have been coming here 20+ years. When I fly in from California to visit my folks, going to Alexander's is a must. The food is mediocre and overly priced now. What happened to the hot open faced sandwiches? The Steak Alexander, has been a favorite since I was a kid. Yeah, that doesn't exist anymore. All the type of foods that brought families in is no more. What happened to the martini list? And a bartender that knows how to make one would be nice. Service was great, and has always been. They always try their hardest. I was happy to hear about the remodel and was looking forward to my next visit. The decor was cold and sterile. No warmth. After dinner, I walked out so disappointed. I came in for a late lunch today with a friend and the food was amazing, service was great, I can't remember the name of our server but she was a young blonde lady, very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I would be giving 5 stars if it wasn't for the last 15 minutes we were there. we could clearly hear a women in the back of the restaurant talking about something saying the word Di*k more than once. Another lady clearly tried telling this woman to lower her voice but that seemed to make it worse as we heard her get even louder and argumentative. We used their catering service and could not of been happier. So easy to set up. Simply looked at the on-line catering menu and called during hours. The staff was so great on pick-up and they carried everything to our vehicle. The food was more delicious then we expected. The restaurant and cafe are beautiful and cozy, however, I have had three dishes and have not been impressed. 1st the main dish salad had water on the bottom so I only ate the top which was delish. The ingredients were fresh, but I would have enjoyed the entire salad if the bottom wasn't so watery. 2nd the pasta dish was mushy and the various cheeses used were thick and heavy and didn't blend in regards to taste. I did not finish that. 3rd dish was a vegetarian burger. Ingredients once again were fresh, but the vegetable burger was so mushy. It was edible. I am sure the dishes would taste better, but the execution needs to be worked on. Their menu is so extensive I am sure there are dishes that are delish and well executed. The food is good, but the staff is unbelievably rude. The hostess couldn't even smile as she greeted us, just looked extremely angry and spoke in a monotone, rude way. The waitress with short brown hair has been making rude, condescending comments to us since we got here!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Hire nicer people. *UPDATE*: the remainder of the meal was alright. The waitresses attitude improved and the rude comments ceased, however, the rest of the staff proceeded to sit/stand around directly next to our booth and talk loudly about personal issues!!! SO WEIRD. And so distracting from my meal. If you're going to work in any business, you should really be professional in front of customers. Not a good experience. I found this place on Yelp when I was in town. It was next to our hotel so we decided to check it out. Everything started out fine but soon my friend found some broken glass in the water they gave us. Not long after that, I also found broken glass in the water which cut me in my mouth. Being from Atlanta, I was excited to see the fried chicken and waffles and so that's what I ordered. I also ordered a side of vegetables and asked for them to serve them immediately. When I got the vegetables, it was 2 small broccoli stems and 6 baby carrots, all for $2.50. It looked embarrassingly small on the plate they served it on and I felt like I got ripped off. The vegetables tasted like they had placed them into a microwave to steam but didn't even steam it long enough. The broccoli was crunchy and hard to get down. The chicken and waffles were also very disappointing. The waffles were identical to the ones I could have made at my hotel using a skillet. The amount of fried chicken I got didn't warrant the price and was more bread than chicken. The chicken was also tough and very bland. I'm thinking they expect you to eat the chicken with some kind of sauce (e.g. BBQ) but you shouldn't need sauce for the fried chicken to be tasty if you cook it correctly. There were some good things though. After seeing the vegetables, I asked for more and received more free of charge. Overall, service was good. The place was well decorated and had a cool modern yet classic feel to it. However, a restaurant is make or break when it comes to its food and its food was very lackluster. read more

Took a customer there for lunch this week. We got in there just before noon. Glad we did because it filled up fast. Very reasonable lunch prices for the quality of food you get. Huge menu and every time I've eaten there the food was excellent. Every employee in the place is very polite warm and gracious. Excellent customer service. The only knock I have on the place is that it's an older restaurant and alrhough its very clean and upkept, the decor is somewhat dated. Alexander's is a great down home restaurant. I came for breakfast the server we had was very kind and happy. We started breakfast with berry mimosa and they were great. I had bacon eggs and mini pancakes it was the perfect portion and it all was very good. If I lived in this area this would most definitely be my regular breakfast eatery. read more
