I've been here 4 times and every single time has been mediocre. The food is okay.. I've gotten french toast, eggs benedict, belgian waffle and pancakes. Along with their sides of bacon, potatoes and beignets. The bread in every single one of their dishes is very very dry. The orange juice tastes old every single time. The potatoes are almost uncooked. The bacon is burnt. I just don't understand. Also the service is just rude. Our waitress was so rude and short about everything. I visited Benedict's in Dundee twice. The atmosphere here is nice, cozy, and homely. This unique restaurant has a living tree growing through it and out the roof. Service was cool. The great menu options for breakfast is what drew me here. The first go round I had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and blueberry pancakes. The eggs and turkey sausage were fine. The blueberry pancakes had plenty of blueberries mixed throughout the batter, but I really wasn't a fan of the batter flavor. I really wanted to try the biscuits and gravy because the gravy was made with turkey sausage instead of pork, so I came back. On my return visit I did not like the biscuits and gravy at all. The biscuits were savory and contained some extra ingredients. It looked like finely chopped carrots or something. This breakfast item was a no go for me. I think the gravy should be savory enough to use on good ole regular biscuits. I did like the house potatoes thought. They were seasoned well and cooked right. I did find it funny there is a moroccan omelet or skillet which has ham or bacon in it which is pork, and if you know morocco no one there would really be eating that so not sure where they got that! hah! This place struggled a bit when Covid hit, we had some hiccups with carry out and also service problems once they opened back up for dine in. Looks like they are back to form now. I went with the California scramble, which consisted of a potato pancake, with scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, bacon and topped with hollandaise. I enjoyed it served with a side of fruit. It was very good, perhaps the potato pancake could have been crisper and lighter, but it was a tasty combo. My companion had the simple egg breakfast combo served with buttermilk pancakes. What a great little spot hiding in the fox river bike trail. We found this spot as we were riding on the bike path and we're glad to find this gem They're usually open until 2pm but I would call ahead for their scheduled times if your planning on making a stop in for breakfast. I had "build your own omelette " and my husband had the breakfast quesadilla. The food was so amazing , ingredients tasted so fresh and delicious. We went back there within a week that's how much we loved it! The ambiance reminds me of door county , the decor is cute. Oh and there's a tree growing inside the place. A real life tree!! So cool!!
