    Benedict's Italiano

I have been meaning to try this place for months. Grabbed a friend and stopped in one Saturday morning around 11:30. Busy but we got right in and seated. So cute inside! I got to see the tree but we sat in another room. Everything on the menu looked sooooo good. I settled on the Italiano and man, was I happy with that. The garlic bread made it really unique! Delicious. I also took a beignet to go. I wasn't going to try it in the car but was stuck waiting for a delivery and...I learned the hard way! Do not eat it in the car.

I visited Benedict's in Dundee twice. The atmosphere here is nice, cozy, and homely. This unique restaurant has a living tree growing through it and out the roof. Service was cool. The great menu options for breakfast is what drew me here. The first go round I had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and blueberry pancakes. The eggs and turkey sausage were fine. The blueberry pancakes had plenty of blueberries mixed throughout the batter, but I really wasn't a fan of the batter flavor. I really wanted to try the biscuits and gravy because the gravy was made with turkey sausage instead of pork, so I came back. On my return visit I did not like the biscuits and gravy at all. The biscuits were savory and contained some extra ingredients. It looked like finely chopped carrots or something. This breakfast item was a no go for me. I think the gravy should be savory enough to use on good ole regular biscuits. I did like the house potatoes thought. They were seasoned well and cooked right. I really wanted to like Benedicts more than I did.

Another great breakfast joint that fulfills my hubby's dietary needs. Easy to sub in turkey bacon or turkey sausage without complaint. Delicious food and friendly staff

I love this place. It has character, great service, and good food. I can eat everything on menu! We had the apple beignets, portobello benedict, and crab & avocado omelette. So good that we didn't even need to go boxes. They say you shouldn't play with your food, but when you're with family at a fun place, you just can't help yourself (which explains the aftermath of pictures. Thank you for a fun time!

I was seated right away and everyone was very nice. The building gives homey vibes and feels like you just went to a friends house. The food not only looks amazing but tastes amazing. It's my new favorite place to eat.

Cozy, yummy, friendly, and attentive are just the baseline expectations at Benedict's. They go beyond that with the quality of food and beverages. It has been a LONG time since I have had the perfectly balanced Caramel Latte, and you betcha I ordered TWO. My three year old was craving a waffle, and he loved it (we all know how quickly toddler minds can be changed- but this was not one of those times)! My husband commented, "The worst part of this meal is that it is gone."

We ordered the Pop Over Rolls to start off our meal and they were some of the best rolls I've ever had. I really liked that they had a hint of cheese and the butter was also delightful. To eat, I ordered the Summer Corn Ravioli and it was one of my favorite pasta dishes I've probably ever had. I did get it without the mushrooms as I typically am not a fan of mushrooms but the ravioli was perfectly cooked and the flavors were simply divine. My party also ordered various meat dishes that they all raved about as well. We did order the brussel sprouts and asparagus to share - I enjoyed the asparagus but did not try the brussel sprouts given they had bacon in them. We didn't order dessert BUT did get a fantastic vanilla cake with raspberry sauce for dessert that our server brought given it was my mom's birthday dinner. The cake was SO delicious and I was very happy we got it! To top it off, our service was amazing throughout and it was an overall wonderful experience. Thank you, The Greggory team, for a great first experience! We cannot wait to be back!

Absolutely amazing, and they debone right at your table. Also had the crab pasta and had a good taste of our friends market Wagyu steak. It was like butter. Keep in mind. This is not going to be cheap though. If you're gonna go to this place, expect not only excellent service but not your McDonald's prices. Saw a couple of the next table come in and order a hamburger and fries. Seriously? You come to this place for a burger and fries? (Lol). I'm sure the burger and fries was excellent, but this place is not known to be a burger joint, even though it's on the menu but again, to each his or her own. I wouldn't come here just to have a burger. There are many other places that do that. Step it up a little. Come here for a higher tier of food caliber. That being said: Our server was excellent. The manager along with the chef / the wine "professor"- (he was excellent as well- extremely knowledgeable, and paired our bottle of wine perfectly with all our meals) along with everyone else who came by to check on us. But our server was absolutely attentive and great. He wasn't pushy and he was very easy-going but very astute and had all the attention to detail. So hopefully we made his night when we came to the tip. (we weren't slouches, nope.). I wish I remembered his name, it wasn't a typical name, but he was outstanding. That being said, make sure that you pack away a couple "bones" when you see the check- also make sure that you tip your waiter for the outstanding job that they do. So don't skimp on that either. So again: It isn't cheap, but a place like this shouldn't be. We had a great experience overall- Also, this isn't your T-shirt and shorts type of place. You have to dress up. No schleps.. Capeesh?!!? leave your sandals at home. Which it should be. This is an experience, not your local In-N-Out Burger joint. Excellent and tasteful decor- excellent service highly highly highly recommend.

The food is made with love and executed with skill. Creative and inventive but not over the top where form trumps taste. Second time to this place and will return over and over. Fried pickle and avocado appetizer knocked my socks off. Served with two sauces (red/loosely based on 1000 island and green/not mint). Both pared perfectly with the course but brought out totally different notes. One highlighted and intensified the sourness of pickle and the other played on the creaminess of Avacado. Deserts are a must. Drinks are good but a little on the sweeter side. It's a hidden gem!

[ September, 2026 ]…read more We came here as part of a group of four on a Sunday night, right at 4pm (opening time). Our server, Nina, was initially slow to come to the table, but we chalked it up to being there right at opening. The table ordered drinks (martini, wine, and two non-alcoholic drinks), but a few minutes later were told the wine ordered was not available. No problem, we ordered something else. Fifteen minutes later, when finally being asked for our order, we were informed that the pork belly was not available, but was on the printed menu and the server never told the table it was unavailable...guess we'll substitute. We asked if a large salad for would be enough for the table, but the server replied "I don't know" and left us to order our own individual salads. Was this her first day? I think so, she also had no idea what was spicy on the menu and what wasn't. Fast forward 15-20 more minutes and the appetizer showed up, some sort of a flat bread with seemingly like 20 ingredients piled on top of a blue masa crust that tried so hard to be light and crispy, but fell to the pressures of all the gooey ingredients piled on top. It was very confusing as to what the chef's vision was with that special appetizer of the day. Did I mention the watered-down martini? Nah, let's keep moving forward. Eventually, an hour into the sitting our entrees showed up. These weren't too bad, until I found out later that one participant in this adventure found a hair in her food.... our server was nowhere to be found, so complaints would have gone unanswered. About 30 minutes later, someone from management came to the table and assured us that we were important, but that our server had a 12 top in the back....but "thank you for your patience." Ok. Two hours into the meal, we ordered desserts (gluttons for punishment this evening, we all were) and two coffees. Eventually, a flourless chocolate cake and some sort of gel-substance-passing-for-key-line-pie arrived at the table, followed by bread pudding 5 minutes later (why not time the desserts together?) Honestly, these desserts weren't all that bad (except for the pie-looking thing), but the coffees were a different story. After 10 minutes of waiting for coffee, management and server kept on apologizing for a technical difficulty with the coffees. Eventually, two HUGE espressos came out and were apparently so strong that even a full container of milk wasn't enough to tame them. Two-and-one-half hours into the excursion, we finally got the check. Luckily, the server didn't wait all that long to get us on our merry way, of course apologizing that she had a 12 top in the back. We walked out--or rather, we escaped--at 6:42pm. The best thing you can do after reading this story is never, ever endure the adventure that is Black Bear Bistro. But if you do spend $300 here, I hope you get a better server who isn't popping her gum while taking orders of food that she has clearly never experienced.
