He is an expert at landscaping so during the work we did feel like we were in good hands and working with a professional. The work was immaculate and we were extremely happy with the end result. The price was a bit on the higher end. The part that was most disappointing was the timeline of the project. We were told that the project will be done in 2 weeks (max 3 with buffer). If you're looking for a down-to-earth and hardworking landscaper, Alex is your guy. I'm an engineer and pretty OCD about details--how materials transition, how they line up, and what makes sense for each area. Alex totally got my vision and even made it better. He suggested where to add edging in spots where different materials met, which made everything look clean and cohesive. Before moving forward with my full landscaping project, I interviewed at least 10 contractors. Alex stood out right away. He wasn't pushy, communicated clearly, and gave me a fair price--not the cheapest, but nowhere near the highest either. For the quality of work, it was 100% worth it. I had a ton of questions about the process to make sure things were done right--especially for pavers and concrete. Alex had great answers for everything and even showed me examples of his past projects so I could check them out in person. He's big on details too--if something didn't look right, he fixed it right away without me even having to ask. His crew poured about 2,000 sqft of concrete flatwork, built a 60-foot retaining wall, installed 1,000 sqft of pavers, and put in an underground drainage system. It's rained a few times since, and there are basically no puddles anywhere--proof that the grading and drainage were done right! They also added a small patch of artificial turf and handled all the softscape, which really finished off the look. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Short story: If you want clean job and professional contractor, hire Eli (Alex). Long story: About a year ago, I hired a contractor to redo my backyard and side yard so that my kids can play and I can host small parties. They miss calculated and dug about 5 inches more than what was necessary. Next day the workers did not show up so I called the contractor. He told me he gave me a wrong quote and he needs another $5000 to continue working. Around this time, weather started getting wet and my backyard was all wet and muddy, totally unusable. After few of months of back and forth with first contractor, we hired another contractor to continue with work. They gave me a reasonable estimate and started working. After couple of days they said the first contractor has dug too deep and now they will need more money to cover that up. After paying more, they came back demanding another check to continue working. This is when we stopped working with them. Now it was already 8 months and my backyard was totally unusable. One of my friend recommended me to talk to Eli if he can help with my yard work. I called Eli and requested him to stop by and checkout my yard. He stopped by next day and he looked very professional. He measured the entire yard and gave us a reasonable quote. We told him entire story with 2 previous contractors and requested him to measure twice before giving a quote. Understanding our situation, Eli gave us a break of few hundred dollars, which we highly appreciated. Eli started working the day he told he will and Eli and his crew showed up everyday 8 AM. First few days we were worried if Eli will cheat us like other 2 contractors, but Eli asked for first payment on 4th day, that too to buy material. We happily wrote him a check and saw work progress at really fast pace. At every step very patiently Eli explained us good and bad about whatever we select. Eli suggested a change in our design which costed us few hundred dollars more, but the result is worth tens of thousands. That change in design turned out to be very elegant. The yard looks very beautiful now. Eli was kind enough to accommodate our request whenever possible, even if that meant little extra work on his part. Eli and his crew were in our yard for little over 2 weeks, but they were very very professional, never ever troubled us or our neighbors. Whenever my kids will show up they would stop working and try to make sure they are safe. We never saw trash, soda cans, water bottles or a single nail lying on ground after they were done for the day. We don't speak or understand Spanish and working with Eli we did not have that problem because Eli is fluent in English and can communicate effectively. read more
