Came a couple times in 2022 and was sold deep cleaning (about $400) and more frequent cleanings. Left for another dentist for a couple of years, then came back to get a regular cleaning and checkup. Was told there was an extra charge by the assistant up front, which surprised me because I have decent dental insurance which covers cleanings. After pushing back, the assistant said the dentist will let me know what needs to be done after the exam. The dentist was very nice, but after the x-rays and checkup they tried to sell me on an extra $6000 worth of dental work (about $1000 out of pocket), related to deep cleaning and "gum therapy" citing that I had periodontitis receding gums. This was the initial work followed by more frequent, once every 4 months visits. I've had regular 6-month visits up to this point and never had an issue with my teeth and just getting a cleaning. I tried to tell them that I've had "receding gums" since my 20s and it's genetic. My dad and I both have this, and he has perfect teeth in his 70s. I also told him I have had regular 6-month visits up to this point and would just like a cleaning. After being pushed some more by the assistant, I was told I could sign a waiver to forgo the extra cleaning. I agreed to sign the waiver. 15 minutes of waiting later, a hygienist came to try to convince me to go through with the deep cleaning and that they would not do the regular cleaning unless I paid for the deep cleaning. She misquotes me and said she heard that my dad had missing teeth. I corrected her, declined the treatment, and promptly left. I felt targeted the entire time for extra dental work that I didn't need. I went to another dentist, thankfully there are several highly rated offices in the area, which gave me another checkup, cleaning, and prescribed me some $7 mouthwash for periodontitis. Lake Barcroft Dental Group has since charged my dental insurance nearly $700 for the x-rays, check-up, and spitting in a cup. Criminal. Do NOT come here unless you want to be upsold on expensive "gum therapy" treatments that you do not need. Go get a second opinion. There is a reason their entire staff has turned over in the past couple of years. read more

I came in as a new patient after an insurance change. I waited about 20-30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before being taken back. After X-rays and an assessment, I was quoted over $2,000 out-of-pocket for recommended treatment. I've had my share of dental issues in the past and stay consistent with routine care, and none of these concerns were mentioned at my previous visit just six months prior. While I understand that new issues can arise, I did find this surprising. The office offered to complete one of the procedures that same day, but I wasn't able to stay. Because of that, I was sent home without receiving a cleaning, which I found unusual, as I've never left a dental appointment without one. I later sought a second opinion out-of-network, and none of the previously mentioned issues were identified. While this office may take a more aggressive preventative approach, it ultimately wasn't the right fit for me. read more

Had an absolute terrible experience with this company. My fiancee and I had both made appointments for routine check-ups/cleanings. We both consider ourselves to have pretty good oral hygiene. When we arrived we were pressured into having multiple procedures performed that we had not anticipated. The bedside manner of the dentist I had was terrible, she spent most of her time gas-lighting me into thinking that I don't take care of myself and that my teeth were going to rot out of my head. I ended up going back to get most of the procedures they recommended. Turns out they didn't take my insurance and I ended up paying about $5,000 out of pocket. They failed to mention that my insurance wasn't accepted at all, so I was under the impression that part of the costs would be covered, when they were not. When I inquired about a payment plan to help divide the costs, they told me that I could basically pay for whatever procedures I was having done that day. So that wasn't really a payment plan, and was rather useless. Overall the lack of transparency with regards to insurance coverage, terrible bedside manner, and the pressure they made us feel as patients make this one of the worst dental companies I have ever been to. I hope others don't make the same mistake in going here. As a healthcare worker myself, the way they conducted business makes me very skeptical to say the least. I am extremely disappointed with the care at Lake Dental Group. I paid out-of-pocket and set up a payment plan, but the promised follow-up never happened. I received an email saying I had a follow-up appointment, but when I called to confirm, they told me no appointment was in the system. My mother, who also had a procedure, faced the same issue and was treated unprofessionally. The staff was unprofessional, and despite our payments, we were left without the care we needed. I expected much better follow-through and respect for patients, especially if we are paying out of pocket such an expensive amount. read more

My and my whole family changed to this dentist after hearing about it from a friend. I'm sad to say that every single one of my family members was pressured to do expensive services, and the actual work we had done was so terrible it left us in pain. Me and my brother both were told we have periodontal disease, and when my brother went in for a regular cleaning they refused to do it and only said they would do a $500+ periodontal cleaning and sent him home. My brother is in college and was home on break so he then had to wait until his next break to get dental care because they refused him service. After going to another dentist, we were both told that we in fact do NOT have periodontal disease, and that a regular cleaning was sufficient for both of us. Both me and my brother had cavities filled at lake barcroft that were done so horribly, we were left lasting pain and had to get them redone. I was constantly being pressured to do "laser" and other expensive services they said I needed, any my dad literally had to call the front desk and demand they take it off the bill because I don't know any better and they made me feel like something horrible would happen to me teeth if I didn't get it, so I said yes out of fear. They completely botched my moms mouth, making what could of been a month long process or even less time of fixing it, into a long drawn out process where they tried many things that failed and after months and months of work, she finally ended up having to get a root canal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Although the staff was not mean, they were extremely pushy with services and the dentists seemed to make our diagnosis's more severe in order to get us to do more in depth and costly procedures. read more

I never thought I would have to dig up my old Yelp account to write a review, but here I am to warn you. For the sake of your wallet and sanity, please do not step foot into this "establishment." First off, there is only one dentist there currently, ONE. For some mysterious reason, the other dentists left, and honestly maybe for good reason. You will get your appointments rescheduled, and procedures that will need actual professional fixing. My experience getting fillings here was frustrating, and probably the second most uncomfortable dental experience I've ever had in my life. And trust me, I've had my FILL of cavities in my lifetime. The procedure started off normal with numbing my gum before the actual numbing shot, but something felt off. The numbing stick was put into my mouth for such a short amount of time, that the actual numbing shot going in was more than the usual uncomfortable pinch. Then the dentist started working on my teeth and I had to raise my hand to let her know that I was feeling way too much sensitivity for someone who's mouth should be numb. So, the dentist decided to take a pause for the numbing shot to work its magic and said they would come back in 5 min. Approximately 25 minutes had passed, and I was wondering where my dentist went. The numbing shot had reached its peak potential after 5 min, so I was sitting there neglected and frustrated. During the "pause," the dentist went to take an exam for another patient... An exam during my procedure? What kind of "professional" books multiple appointments in the same block? No wonder the procedure was feeling rushed. The dentist had to do an exam while filling my cavity! The procedure was long, and at that point, I just wanted it over with, so I would never have to go back there again. Also, I don't know if the hygienist was a metal welder in a past life, but the way she stabbed my gums with her tools, made me feel like I was transported back to the medieval ages. Post-procedure, I had something stuck in between my gums where the cavities were filled. After many bloody attempts of flossing the item out, I found the item to be a string leftover from my procedure. What a shocking surprise, something was left in my mouth! It was a brief relief at first, at least they didn't leave random metal scraps in my mouth, I thought. And mainly because I didn't have to go back in. However, I realized there was still an issue with the gum the object was stuck in. The dentist did a sloppy job, leaving an overhang on my cavities. The floss could go in, but it was impossible to remove unless I cut the string out myself. So, this was literally the last floss that led me to leave this lengthy review, and now I need to go to another dentist. If you made it this far, please do yourself a favor and research as many other places as you can. And avoid this place at all costs! read more

Friendly staff and very thorough. It was my first time here and everyone was really nice. They took me in for my x-rays and then Brianna Albers came and explained everything to me and continued to explain what she was doing during my cleaning process. She also was thorough in explaining how to prevent any issues in the future. Before she even started, someone came to discuss what everything was going to cost and what I would be paying for which was also really helpful. Definitely recommend! Each time I come into the office there is a different up-charge that the insurance doesn't cover. The final straw was when I came in for a consultation and review of my teeth after a recommended scaling cleaning that focuses on the health of your gums and jawbone. I was told that I continued to have pockets of bacteria etc. that would eventually lead to bone loss and could result in the loss of teeth and that I needed to have a surgical procedure that would go deep into my gums and clean the bacteria out I was given two options traditional surgery that would require stitches which would cost me about 1200 out of pocket or a laser procedure that would be less intrusive and cost 4000 out of pocket. I opted for the laser treatment despite the extra cost I did not want to endure the pain or have stiches in my mouth and miss additional work. They then recommended that they do a cleaning prior to the procedure which was odd. I questioned myself why would I have a cleaning prior to the procedure? It was also recommended that they give me a fluoride treatment to lessen the pain on my teeth. Again, I did not second guess the recommendation and said OKAY of course there was an additional charge that i was not aware of. I scheduled the procedure it took a lot of coordinating on my end moving around my travel schedule for work along with some important personal dates. The day of the procedure came i checked in with the front desk and had to sign a series of paperwork on the procedure when the receptionist mentioned local anesthesia, I questioned why would i need that if i was going with the laser treatment. She responded that she didn't have me scheduled for the laser and that it was the basic surgery. I asked to see the specialist, I arrived in the room and the specialist informed me that he was not aware of that I opted for the laser treatment, and he didn't bring the proper equipment. Then urged me to let him do a re-examination of my teeth, my response was not. In my head I reminded myself that i should have gotten a second opinion and that i would not allow these unscrupulous people to take another dollar from me or my insurance company. I then asked to speak to the office manager Amanda Swanson, who was aware of my concerns her response was this is totally my fault, the laser for the procedure is out of service indefinitely I should have called you. This is obvious that someone is lying i have had 3 different stories with excuses from 3 different people. I explain to the office manager with all humility that I do not make $6.00 per hour and that my time is money, I lost time from work along with personal matters not to include the gas and resources that i used to come here. Her response for compensation was that she would refund me the $65.00 that I spent out of pocket from my last visit where they added fluoride to my cleaning. At this point I have exhausted all options of professionalism and it is time for me to leave the office. I visit another dentist who informs me that they will have to charge me $90.00 for the exam and x-rays due to my insurance being billed multiple times this year. I pay for the examination and long and behold my bone structure in my jaw and below is perfectly fine. I had 2 small pockets in the upper back of my mouth due to wisdom teeth which is normal. It was recommended that I come in every 3 months for cleaning and that I continue to use my waterpik and floss. The second opinion was worth the out-of-pocket expense. I do not recommend this practice to anyone at all the illicit practices used to milk my insurance company and pocket is borderline criminal and un-ethical. The level of customer service and empathy from the office manager is something i would have expected from a teenager working at a popcorn stand in the circus. Don't be fooled by the fancy waiting room and the technology used in this place they will pass the additional cost over to you at your expense with zero results. read more

Literally came here for an emergency filling and the staff put all my panic and worry at ease! I am from the South and I am here for a travel contract and my filling fell out at work, hundreds of miles from my home dentist. I researched dentist in my network and the reviews of Lake Barcroft were spot on! The staff made sure I felt comfortable, helped me sign in, and get all of my paperwork complete in a timely manner. Dr. Mukbel was GREAT! She explained every step of the process and educated me thoroughly on what happened to my previous filling and how she was going to clean and prepare my new filling! After such a wonderful experience, I returned for my 6 month cleaning while still in the area. I will recommend anyone to visit this location! I have zero complaints about our experience here and that's saying a lot. The front desk staff are friendly, competent, organized and present no barriers to care. The practitioners are friendly, explain everything very clearly and are quick. They seem genuinely excited about their work. My daughter has been having problems with her jaw locking and her former dentist was not helpful. We went here and within minutes of taking x-rays confirmed what I had been asking her former dentist about: her wisdom teeth were bothering her. We were able to schedule the removal within a week. When we arrived everyone was organized and explained all of the post-op care explicitly, called in her prescriptions for post-op and finished the extraction within about 30 minutes. Amazing! The facility itself was clean and brightly lit. I recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

Got my cavity filled here (Well actually multiple cavities since I've been going here a while). Brianna Albers, DMD, is always so good with doing the fillings. The procedure is always really quick and she does a great job of making sure I'm fully numb so I can't feel anything while she is operating. She also checks in every few minutes to make sure I'm doing okay and don't need a break or anything. Had a great experience with Lake Barcroft Dental Group, Dr. Albers and staff. Had lost a crown yesterday and figured I would have to have a temporary and they would order the crown. Did not want to go through New Year's weekend without it. Dentistry has come a long way. They are actually able to make a crown at the office in one hour's time, and not just one type. Sort of like artificial intelligence and 3D technology. I cannot explain all of the new technology that makes dentistry different from it has been for years. But it is great. The staff is friendly, professional, and engaging. Dr. Albers, what can I say? She was terrific in explaining what she was doing, the new technology, And, more important very competent. Worst experience ever. Avoid at all costs. Made an appt for cleaning. Was told to call the same day so they could send script to pharmacy before going to the appt. When I called they said they couldn't send the script. I took time off from work for this. A total disregard for my time. Of course there are billing issues now. I have top tier dental issuance. Lake Barcroft Dental forces you to pay before service which I did. Insurance company says they paid too, but Lake Barcroft Dental denies receiving any insurance payments. They refused to send me an itemized list of charges and payments. Billing is not done on-site but they certainly take payments! Further investigation found they are owned or operated by PacDen. Had to file a complaint with the BBB. Again, avoid this place like the plague! read more

I had a delightful first-time visit and am eager to make this my regular go-to dental office. Everyone was extremely warm and welcoming and made me feel valued as a client. Literally every single staff member I spoke with (front desk, dental assistant, hygienist, dentist) were so kind and thorough, and they offered me an explanation of every single thing that they were doing. I could tell that they were not just going through the motions, but that they wanted me to understand each aspect of my care (from going through the new visit paperwork to taking my X-rays to each step of my cleaning, I feel like the staff walked me through an explanation of what they were doing). I work in the medical field and am comfortable with dental procedures and am also comfortable asking questions, but I can understand that plenty of people don't have that sense of comfort and familiarity at a dentist's office, so I truly appreciate how trauma-informed and client-centered they were. There were plenty of moments where I was asked for my consent or given the opportunity to take a break, and I was asked many times how I was doing and if everything was feeling okay. On multiple occasions, I was told, "Let me know if something doesn't feel right, and we can stop." This type of client-centered attitude made me feel very safe and comfortable, and it went a long way for me. Everyone was eager to answer my questions and to show off their bright, sparkling new office, which was beautiful, and was filled with what appeared to be state-of-the-art technology. This was a lovely experience, and I am so grateful to have found them and taken a chance on this brand-new practice. I will definitely be a loyal returning customer. read more
