As a patient for 21 years it is clear that the "associates" are now running the show. The small number of hygienist who are from the old school are still very good. Likely they won't be there much longer as the office staff and all of the doctors are new. The goal of the current practice and staff is clearly "Cha-Ching" $$$. The administrative desk staff was argumentative. The company they have doing billing is NOT sending out bills in a timely manner. I just went in today to get my teeth cleaned and also get a teeth whitening treatment. The cleaning was great. Josh did such a great job so thorough. But when it came to the whitening it was such an uncomfortable treatment . I did it before and it was not this uncomfortable . First round the nurse hygienist did not do a great. She the mouthguard was to big for my small mouth they all know it but just wanted the to continue . I pairs $495 and I'm not happy with the results so if you want to just go in for a simple cleaning do so but if you want to get some special treatments done I would look go somewhere else. PLEASE BE VERY AWARE-you will be billed for charges that you either never approved or that you no idea what that are for. Then you will be sent directly to collections with no explanation and no 30 day notice after repeatedly asking what these charges are for. This is long, but stick with me or you will be hurt in the long run by their billing office and their scams. Both my husband and I were patients of Dr. Friedman. I stopped going to him well over two years ago after they not only billed me hundreds of dollars over what I clearly signed what I would've charged for on a night guard. But then forced me to pick up said night guard and pay for it. I begged my husband to stop seeing this practice as I still have the paper which I signed that says I would only be billed $85.00 for the night guard and they then charge us hundreds of dollars. My husband stuck with Dr. Friedman as he was comfortable with the the actual dentist. Then the past few months my husband gets repeated letters from the billing office stating now he owes hundreds of dollars and he calls requesting what this bill is for as he always pays before he leaves and he has eob's from the insurance and everything is paid. NOTHIG EXPLAINED AND HE IS SENT TO COLLECTIONS! He calls and pays whatever this ghost balance is as he's terrified they will ruin his perfect credit. And again requested a call and explanation for the charges - NOTHING! Be very cautious! read more

The worst dentist I have ever had. For starts, the dentist only comes for the finishing touches, the assistants do the work. They kept me with my mouth wide open for so long, waiting for the dentist that my jaw hurt for 10 days, when I complained, the "dentist" wouldn't even talk nor see me. DO NOT GO!!!! read more

They are friendly, accommodating, professional, and you leave with a smile on your face. I was referenced to Dr. Freedman by my fiance who has been a patient of Dr. Freedman's for many years, and I am very glad that she gave me the reference. I recently had a Root Canal procedure done, and it was painless, and I was very comfortable during the entire procedure. Dr. Freedman and his staff reviewed every step of the process, and during each phase, I was treated with utmost professionalism. The environment they have built is very calm and welcoming, and I would gladly refer their staff to anyone looking for a dental practice to be apart of. To set the record straight on Root Canal procedures...they are nothing to be afraid of! How could anyone not give a 4/5 star review for this office. I avoided going to the dentist for a few years ( I know terrible), because it was never a pleasant experience for me. Two years ago, I had a tooth infection and a friend recommended Brad M Freedman's office. I called and they squeezed me in immediately with Dr. Ratner. The office is clean, the staff is courteous, compassionate, and friendly. I like that I see the same hygienist (Sandra)most of the time, and the staff actually remembers me when I come into the office. I have never had an appointment cancelled on me. I have never been in the office more than an 1hour -1 1/2 hours ( good thing). I wasn't demonized or made out as a bad person because I had not seen a dentist for a few years. They have never tried to pressure me to get any extra dental work that isn't needed. Any I appreciate that they are willing to discuss the cost with you before performing anything. I love this office! As long as they are in the area, they will always have my patronage. read more

I was trying to become a new patient at this place because it had pretty decent reviews on Yelp. I used their online appointment booking process and received a confirmation email. I showed up at the confirmed day and time according to my confirmation email and they said they didn't have an appointment for me, I even showed them the confirmation email. The front desk staff said and I quote "Ever since Covid we aren't able to see any appointments being made on line" Huh, interesting how Covid is now the excuse for failed technology. You should probably take that feature off your website then. That would probably mitigate this alleged "covid" problem. The office didn't have any issue with seeing my sons appointment that was made online, but they didn't see my appointment, so it works? It doesn't work? The front office admitted to using my son as a messenger to have my wife call in to change her appointment, rather than calling my wife directly to make the notification and change, so apparently my son is on the payroll for delivering messages to other patients. So in taking time off of work, showing up on time, and being told sorry we cant see you today, I think I'll take my family elsewhere. read more

Wow. Wow, I never liked going to the dentist and always had a bad experience with getting my teeth cleaned, until I was referred to this office. Josh, hands down, has the best touch I ever had in cleaning my teeth. He was amazing, went out of his way in making sure I was okay. I've been going to Dr. Freedman for about 3 years and he and his staff are awesome! I go for my biannual checkups and am always impressed by how friendly everyone is, how thorough but quick my appointments are with the hygienist, and how nice the office is. It's in a convenient location with plenty of parking. The lobby and hygienist stations are clean and very comfortable, and they have online appointment scheduling and reminders which makes things very simple and easy. I've also been fitted for a night guard due to TMJ, and had Dr. Freedman fix a chip in my front tooth. Both of these services were exceptional and his staff explained procedure options and costs up front with no surprises. The chip in my front tooth was seamlessly fixed with absolutely no pain. I'm so happy with my smile now! I highly recommend Dr. Freedman to anyone looking to switch Dentists, are to folks who are new to the area. I spent the first few years after I moved to the area searching for a good dentist. After some absolutely horrible experiences, I am so thankful I found Dr. Freedman! Brad M. Freeman has completely changed my negative opinion of going to the dentist. Where to begin: I called because I was in a ton of pain and they were very accommodating. They saw me the same day (with in 40 minutes of calling), and allowed me to do all of the pesky paperwork online. When I arrived it was very simple checking in and with in minutes being seen. All of the staff were extremely friendly. I was in a lot of pain but I was still able to hear them crack jokes with a 9 year old to make him comfy, while also reassuring an older lady about her situation. I love this place, and everything about it and will be back. I have the utmost confidence in the doctor, and was treated over the top well by every single person from the first phone call to the final 'thanks, see you later.' The establishment has been there a long time, but you can't tell because everything appears like it's new and is so well maintained. Perfectly spotless everywhere I saw. As far as the negative reviews, I can say that most practices do rely on hygienists to do the cleanings, and for the doctor to review and inspect at the end. And if there was a rude receptionist, he/she is likely gone or changed ways now! I highly recommend anyone in the DMV looking for a dentist to see Dr. Freedman! To start, his staff is very kind and welcoming. They helped accommodate me for an emergency appointment, and made sure I was taken care of. It's always refreshing to deal with a kind and friendly receptionist, especially since that is the person you end up communicating with the most in the office. Dr. Freedman himself is also very respectful, and clearly quite talented in his profession given how busy his office was. He makes sure to spend quality time with each patient and does not make you feel rushed at all. Despite how busy he was, he still managed to see me on time for my appointment. His office is very clean and polished, and it just makes you feel good being there (which is rarely the case in a dental office!). This dental practice falls into the "Frenemy" category. I hate them and everything they stand for and I love them for everything they are and everything they do...both the hate and love I feel are ardent and unyielding. I love them because Dr. Freedman and Dr. Andrew are genuinely good, kind men; they go out of their way to ensure I am comfortable and experience minimal pain. More importantly, their dental work is outstanding...perhaps even incomparable. The dental hygienists that perform routine cleanings or those that assist the dentists with more complicated procedures (i.e. building up crowns) and even the Nitrous Oxide administrators are wonderful, talented professionals. The office is clean, the equipment is state of the art...this is the dental office for those that want a Hollywood smile and can afford it. I hate them because they grossly exploit capitalism. Dentistry is ordinarily expensive; this practice is inordinately expensive. An emergency visit resulted in my becoming an unsuspecting financial hostage. Albeit, my life wasn't in danger but my vanity was. I was also in pain, so I rashly agreed to the treatment plan. When I needed a few crowns, I fastidiously crunched the treatment plan numbers, factored in my insurance coverage yet still became responsible for a balance that could have been a healthy down payment on a new car...no exaggeration. Their treatment plans lend credence to the famous quote, "The best-laid plans of mice and men..." As many reviewers have noted, patients become responsible for treatments/bills unknowingly. In my case the admin/finance staff made me feel like a fool that I couldn't comprehend how these charges manifested...then I was treated like a thief for not being able to drop thousands to settle up. It would be unfair if I did not mention that I have not been charged interest on any outstanding balances, however, I simply cannot afford to go back. read more

The dentists and hygienists are nice but the admin staff is awful. On countless occasions, my appointments were cancelled or changed at the last minute. The final straw for me was when I had to change the date of an appointment twice due to a family emergency. They had the nerve to charge a $50 fee, knowing that they had moved my appointment time 3x already. Additionally, the hygienist does all the work. The dentist comes in at the very end (after you wait for an eternity), looks at you for 10 seconds and leaves. Doesn't feel thorough at all. This went from being a quality office 5 years ago to now what amounts to a fee hungry, extra service pushing, money-driven operation. So glad I stopped going. read more

A huge rip off. They are trying to sell you on unecessary work from the moment you walk in. Techs are gentle but quick and not very thorough. The exam from the actual dentist is a joke. This guy runs people through his practice like a cattle mill. Switched to a different dentist and was blown away by how much I had been over paying at Freedmans practice....OVER MORE THAN HALF!! This new doctor had a smaller, friendlier practice with more advanced technology (without the show) at half the price as Dr Freedman. The service that Freedman had recommended would have taken several appointments and several thousand dollars. At the new practice the exact same procedure took ONE visit and was literally only several HUNDRED dollars!! Eye opening and TRUE!!! Well I can say I am very happy with the dentists here. I had a problem and wanted an alternative way of fixing it without anesthesia, and the dentist came up with a creative way to do it- and it worked well- 4 years later and no issues. Although I have moved a little further away, I tried staying with this practice, but the incompetence of the receptionist staff is my reason for selecting a new provider. I had called 3 + times to schedule an appointment and wanted a price for the whitening service. They always said they would call me back and/or talk to the supervisor and 6 months later, I still have not received that call - no changes in my contact phone number. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and although they lost that business for that service, I scheduled an appointment for routine cleaning. Unfortunately, here we go again. They put in the wrong date and although I called to alert them, I received texts about my appointment, couldn't get the date I requested in the first place now, and still received a call day of the wrong date. I am done. When you turn over this untrained, incompetent reception staff- let me know and I will return. read more

I would rather give 3.5 stars. I really like Dr. Freedman. After a few years of looking, I found him here on Yelp and based on the reviews, visited. The hygienist wasn't the warmest fuzziest of them all, but he did a good job and spoke highly of Dr. Freeman. What I like is that he is conservative when it comes to your teeth. Not every issue is cause for ripping out teeth. So why not five stars? I'm not sure if it's his policy or his front desk's, but it feels like a total hustle. I had to cancel an appointment. I called to reschedule and made a new one. The next day I got a phone call from their office regarding rescheduling. I said, great, because I'd made a new appointment yesterday that it didn't look like I could keep it, so the new date would better. She rescheduled me. After my visit, during checkout, the receptionist said I owed $50 for a broken appointment. I explained what happened and she said she would have to speak with management. Two weeks later, I received a bill for a $50 for a broken appointment, even though I'd rescheduled with them and made it clear I couldn't make the appointment MORE that 24 hours in advance. My husband went in for an appointment in January that I had made back in December, it was then that I learned that Dr. Freedman was not in my new dental plan. I pay too much for insurance to pay extra out of pocket, so I never rescheduled the follow-up work I needed done. (And still need) However, at the beginning of February, I received an email and a phone call to confirm an appointment. I responded to both that I'd never made one and wouldn't be making any new appointments because they were out of network. Again, in February and April, I received notices to confirm appointments I NEVER MADE. If for some reason I'd missed those calls, that would have been a $50 fee for missed appointments that again, I never made. When I finally spoke with a receptionist regarding these appointments, she said, "Well. They were made by Josh." To which I responded, "Ma'am, I don't know a Josh and I haven't made any appointments since I learned you were out of network. What can I do to keep from receiving these random appointments?" Her response was, "Are you keeping the appointment or not?" That's why, though I love cleanliness of the office, the location is convenient to my job and it was the first dentist I found that I had high hopes of staying with, I refuse to even use the other dentists in the practice who take my insurance because I can't risk receiving a host of fees that the front desk chooses to throw around on a whim. I don't know how aware the dentists are of this practice and I doubt I'm the only one. My suggestion is to just be very aware of all your interactions with their front desk. read more

I chipped my front tooth a couple of days before New Year's Eve. I walked in as a new patient from out-of-town in the afternoon. The front office staff was courteous and helpful. The financial manager was efficient and accomodating. I was seen within a half hr. by Dr.Ghatak. She did an excellent job on my tooth. Have been a patient for about a year. Had my last appointment in Dec. Checked in and waited for about 10 min. As the hygienist gets ready to start, she realizes she is missing one of the cleaning instruments. She looked in several places and asked other staff if there were anymore of that particular cleaning instrument to finally come back and advise there were no more available but she would make it work without it. I should of taken that as a sign to leave!! After the cleaning, I went up to the front desk and was advised that they had attempted to call me to let me know that they no longer carry my insurance. I was shocked! I replied that I never received a call, voice message or any information advising me of that. Although I did received a call the day before from the office to confirm the appointment but nothing was ever said about the insurance change. Also, I was in the waiting room for some time and no ever came over to discuss the change in insurance at that time either. At that point service had been rendered and I had no choice but to pay. So she calculated what my insurance would pay for an out of network provider and advised I would owe $150. So last Friday, when I still had not received a bill I called the office and asked if I had a balance as I am changing insurances and wanted everything taken care of. Meghan advised I did have a balance and said that she would request a bill be sent out. I also asked to speak to the Financial Manager. Meghan advised that Sonya was not in the office and would provide the message for her to call me back. Monday, I call back around 3:30 and Meghan answers and I told her I called Friday and wanted to see if Sonya had called. She places me on hold and returns to tell me that no one from the office had attempted to call me. I said OKAY well... like I mentioned I would like to speak to Sonya is she available? Meghan advises she is not but that she would let her know I called again. Tuesday comes and goes and still no call back. From reading other post it seems I am not the only one who wasn't advised of insurance changes till after the cleaning was done or that feels the front desk staff customer service is truly lacking!! read more

They take great care of me and my cleanings are always thorough; appointments are on time (they even take me early sometimes). I like the electronic appointment confirmations. Federal Employees, be very careful about using this dental office. I had Humana Dental Insurance for years and never had a problem at Brad Freedman & Associates until, unknown to me, they decided not to use that insurance company anymore. I was never told they were no longer "in network" with Humana....no phone calls and they didn't even mention it when I was in the office. Now I just received a bill for a cleaning I had 7 months ago! From what the receptionist I just talked to said, they change which insurance companies they're "in network" with often. So if you go to this dental office, you might want to double-check your insurance to make sure you're still in-network. UGH! read more

This review is not about Dr. Freedman as I was not able to meet him. Did my research in advance to make sure he is a provider in the network of my dental insurance company then I made an apponitment on the phone. I provided all my insurance information. The receptionist who put my information down double checked my insurance subscriber ID, group number and confirmed my appointment. When I visited today, another receptionist saw my insurance card and told me they're not participating in the plan....She apologized on behalf of the receptionist who originally received my appointment request.
