I was excited to go there because of the great breakfast ratings...and when we couldn't get in there for Breakfast as it was full, I thought we just go there for dinner. We arrived at 7:00 on a Monday. The place was completely empty except for staff Our waitress was friendly, but not very knowledgeable and I wondered if she was new. In any case we all ordered a sandwich or burger of some sort. While I appreciated that they included an option of picking from 4 different sides, I really felt that most of the sandwiches on the menu were over priced. Most of them were in the $10 range....which I think is high for something I could have made at home. It also took a LONG time to get our order which surprised me since the place was empty. In fact, it took so long that my husband commented that he'd never go there for lunch. If we'd not had a Groupon coupon, I would have been REALLY unhappy with the prices. Food was okay...not great. I would have considered it acceptable at half the price.....but at $9.95 for a burger, I expect some bells and whistles....Maybe their breakfasts are better...can't tell.... read more

Apparently they do catering and they push this pretty hard by sprinkling a bunch of wedding related stuff everywhere reminding you to hire them. I LOVED this place - - the soup, the homemade bread, the service, the atmosphere, etc... Super fun place to have a yummy breakie or lunch. My only hesitation was the terribly slow wifi. I was planning on working here while enjoying a nice lunch and the wifi was SOOOO slow. Please fix this and I'll be back in a heartbeat. It's a major snafu for those that like to work and dine. Went here with my boyfriend the other morning to breakfast not knowing what to expect. We live down the street but have never been before so we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! I got the avocado toast, and my boyfriend got the Denver scramble. (Both so delicious). The service was really good, all of the employees were efficient and super friendly. So at the point of my visit, i was in town for the first time for a class at a local shop. Apparently they were having a town meeting & the two waitresses stressed that it was rather akward that i was there while it was going on....i'm sorry, but if you wanted no walk ins why not lock the doors? The food was very good. Which is the reason why I'm giving such a high rating. The service was decent but not note worthy. I was never offered any drink refills & the moment 4pm hit they gave me the bill & made it uber awkward that I was still there. I was never told what time they closed & I was never offered any dessert or otherwise. All in all I may come back, but not for the service. My recommendation is that if they want to have a secluded town meeting, maybe lock the doors & do it after business hours rather than making your guests feel like they're a pain in the ***. read more

If you're looking for that small town, Mayberry-esque breakfast joint then you found it. Also, if you are a bacon lover, you need to visit now. The best bacon you will taste in the whole Puget Sound area, hands down. The main dishes are above average but it's the side dishes that make this place a must try. Not to mention the great service and friendly staff. If you are planning to go to a made-to-order dining place, this is NOT it for their "Valentine's Day Special. The evening meal was catered food, prepared ahead of time. (my husband ordered the steak, which I was told when making the reservation would be filet mignon and turned out to be top sirloin that tasted like pot roast because it was cooked in gravy). Even the server agreed that it was NOT medium rare, which he had ordered. Service was ATROCIOUS!!!! We were there for a good 10 minutes before our order was taken and there were 5 "servers" and about 30 customers in the place at the time. The table had 2 bottles of ketchup on it, an empty cup (to hold jams/jellies) an unlit candle, when a server specifically went around and lit the candles on all of the tables except ours!!! I had to ask for silverware. NOBODY came to check on us or ask if everything was OK. We got a roll with the salad and a slice of hearty bread with the meal...why two? Had to ask for butter. We had planned to have a special meal, but the sides were cold and meat/fish were not to our standards, even at home. Will not go back. read more

Meh. Alexa's used to be one of our "go-to" places. But in the past few years, we've noticed that the food just isn't the same. Further, the ambience has gone from a pleasant homey feel to one focused on marketing. We were there just today and I was sat facing the TV screen that was between the two large chalkboard message boards. I understand marketing, but I felt this was a bit obnoxious. One chalkboard was about being able to rent the space after hours, and the other on how they cater, etc. Then the monitor in between showcased the different events they've evidently catered. I understand marketing. But for a customer to experience that throughout their entire time in a restaurant is a bit extreme/obnoxious and was very difficult to ignore. I doubt we'll bother going back. read more

Came here on vacation with some friends local to the area and was completely blown away. Staff is friendly and attentive from the moment you walk in the door. Food is excellent, we had the NW Benedict, coffee is great. The ambience perfectly captures that small town restaurant feel. Definitely recommend. Will be back. read more

I have never felt more humiliated at a restaurant in my life. My family and I decided to have a late Sunday breakfast here, expecting a wait which we were fine with. However we waited 25 minutes by an open door. Mind you it's 54 degrees and damp out. Everyone in the lobby was talking about how cold they were so I got up to close the door twice and each time an employee followed and opened it back up. When we were finally seated we were placed in a back booth with a view of the kitchen and surprise, another open door. I got up to close the back door twice and it was promptly reopened. We complained to our server Taylor and simply told her we were shivering from the constant wind and that we understand the employees may be hot but most of the customers are freezing. She walked off without saying much and from where we were sitting we saw her tell all of the wait staff about us, pointing and glaring. Then she started crying. I understand everyone has bad days but we were extremely uncomfortable as we had only made a simple request in a polite manor. Then I assume the manager on duty, came to our table and loudly said "so the door? You want the door closed? Is that what you want, for the door to be closed?" it was extremely shocking and aggressive. Then our food was brought to us and a couple minutes later Taylor slammed the bill down without one word. The food was delicious, absolutely no complaints there but it was impossible to enjoy because we were glared at by all of the employees the entire time. I understand work can be frustrating but employees should never trash talk the customer right in front of the customer. As we finished shoveling our food down while feeling completely awkward the back door was once again opened. Clearly the employees comfort is more important than the customers. We informed them we would be writing a negative view and they did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. 30 dollars wasted on the most embarrassing and uncomfortable meal of our lives. read more

Alexa's is our go to breakfast place on Sunday mornings. We have been going for years before we had kids and continue to go now that we have 11 month old twins. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and the food delish! Leigh always comes over and visits and our boys adore her. The wait staff do everything they can to make sure our dining out is a pleasure. When the boys were first starting to sit in the highchairs they were a little too small for them. One of the waiters saw this and brought over a throw pillow to put behind them so they wouldn't slouch in the chair. They go above and beyond and anyone who says Alexa's is not child/family friendly must be going to a different restaurant because I've never seen anything but. The no stroller policy is just common sense. The restaurant is small and doesn't have the space to have strollers at the tables. The staff does everything they can though to provide a safe place for babies at the table as we experienced several times with not one but two infants. I would highly recommend Alexa's for breakfast and we are so excited for their new burgers and brew that opens up today. read more

ok here's the deal, i have been eating at alexa's for over 8 years! the food and service is so bad that's what keeps me going back! i am not a food critic like all the reviewers below me but i like food and i like poor service. i plan on eating at alexa's for another 8 years or until they get better food and a friendlier staff. but seriously i am not a critic, i love good food and great service (allison is awesome!!) and i love alexa's. i rant and rave about it to everyone one i know. i am in sales and i take my customers there repeatedly and they rant and rave. We worked with Alexa's Catering for our recent wedding, and we would happily recommend them to anyone! The food was fantastic, and their staff was both unobtrusive and incredibly effective. It felt like we just gave them an idea of what we wanted in the meetings before the wedding, and they ran with it wonderfully. The bar was efficient, the buffet laid out beautifully with signs and flowers that they provided, and they even made a fancy design with berries on our simple cheesecake (we went for taste over fanciness, so this was a really neat surprise). I was a little worried when their prices were so competitive that we were going to get nickle-and-dimed the whole way, but this fear turned out to be completely unfounded-- the estimate based on our uncertain vision at the beginning of our planning process turned out to be higher than the final bill once we'd nailed down all of the details. And let me reiterate, because I think this is important-- the food was AMAZING. The chicken was moist (not a simple feat in a buffet!), the lasagna wonderfully cheesy, and all of the sides and breads were simply delicious. read more

Went for breakfast over the weekend, we ordered the regular egg benedict and the crab egg benedict. I really wanted to like this place, but the food was a real disappointment. We were here once a couple of years ago and now I remember why we never went back. (we had a Groupon this time). The food arrived pretty fast, almost too fast? The eggs seemed like they were poached in a pan of vinegar and they tasted very vinegary too. The potatoes on the side were bland, even ketchup couldn't make them palatable. Sad. read more

I had been meaning to go to Alexa's for quite a while so when I saw a Groupon pop up, it was the perfect opportunity. My family went in after church on Sunday and it was obviously a busy time. We didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes for our table and were treated to friendly service and an amazing breakfast. We all ordered different things (pancakes, omelets, etc.) and everyone was pleased :). My only complaint would be that the coffee isn't very good, but the friendly staff and great breakfast more than made up for it. We'll definitely be back soon. read more

My friend took me out for what she thought would be a nice brunch but it was one of the worst experiences ever. There were MASSIVE amounts of fruit flies all over the walls, tables, and even landing on my food - disgusting. There was also a scaffold set up in the front, and a man who would periodically walk through with a ladder and work on things. Very unsettling and unsafe feeling. I have been going to this cafe all my life and it never gets old. The servers are sweet and come straight from the community. Most of them are Bothell High School grads and still live in the area. I love that local, mom n' pop feel. I always get a scramble for breakfast. If you're feeling really adventurous try the country grub! Its my favorite! I also enjoy that I can get a half order without any hassle because they definitely serve a whole plate! This place is cozy, family-run, and serves yummy food every time. If you can, sit in Blythe or Allison's sections. They are two of the sweetest young women and great servers. read more
