Hands down one of the best Korean Chinese restaurant in the US! This says a lot because I've been to highly rated ones in LA and in the bay, and Modoo Banjeom is comparable to those, and maybe even better. Reminds me of the ones I've had in Korea. We went for gan jjajang and brisket jjampong, which are not the standard ones that come in the combo meal with tang su yuk, but our server kindly made it into a combo meal. I think these special versions are definitely better than the standard ones which we've tried before here. So much more flavor! The price is quite reasonable and the service was friendly and fast. The restaurant was quite clean! If you're craving Korean Chinese food, I'd recommend here over the newer restaurants in the area. read more

If you're coming on a weekend, I would highly recommend that you come when it opens. I noticed that at 11:15, which is just 15 minutes after opening, that there were already four parties inside, including mine. When we had left just a few minutes shy of 12pm, the restaurant was full and there were a few parties waiting outside. The staff were very attentive and would immediately replenish our radish if we were low. The jjamppong and jjajangmyeon tasted fine, if anything the jjajangmyeon was a little sweet. The fried rice however (without the jjajang sauce) was pretty bland and a bit dry. I don't know if it's intentional because they give the sauce on the side but I'd like to have the rice taste good without the assistance of the sauce. Other than the bland and dry rice, my only other nitpick would be that the jjajangmyeon came out a lot later than the other dishes. Otherwise we paid around $117 (without tip), for five dishes and two appetizers, which I think is pretty good for this area. read more

This place is the real deal. The noodles used for the jajiangmyun and jjampong were incredibly on point. The black bean sauce was rich and flavorful and the spicy soup base was very tasty. The tangsooyook was outstanding -- deep fried to perfection and the sauce is rich and tangy without been too sweet. What I loved was their combo which put the three together. The cucumber salad was crunchy and fresh. And we had the Terra beer to bring it all together. I'll be bringing my parents back here. We were traveling from LA visiting a friend in Seattle and she took us here. We liked all the dishes we had. We ordered a combo Jja-jang-myun (black bean noodle) was good. Jjam-ppong ( spicy seafood noodle) had lots of seafood. Although it was a little bit spicier than expected, I loved the rich seafood broth. Tang-soo-yuk ( fried pork) was delicious as well. I wish they had more vegetable dishes and offered Kim-chi as a side dish but they do have all the basic menu and they all tasted good. The portion was good too. Service was awesome. All the staff were very friendly and fast. There were 7 people in our party and we were able to sit all together. I would definitely come back next time I visit Seattle. read more

We wanted a change from our usual "table service" Korean restaurant. This is conveniently located across from the Bothell Home Depot and next to the US Chef store. I was expecting a noodle forward Korean place but it's a Chinese Korean fusion place. I struggle with fusion food.... A little plate of pickled Daikon was immediate and oddly refilled before gone. No ban Chan here though which disappointed me! I can live on the little Korean pickled snacks! Menu is QR code. Very clean restaurant with ample parking. We ordered the beef and noodle soup and they were great at backing out the other seafood for me beyond prawns. We also got the pork cooked in a sauce with rice and a fried egg on top. Food came quite fast. The noodle dish was good but sort of spicy and very gochujang heavy. But I liked the broth. It didn't like me the next day. It was essentially a stir fried beef prawns and vegetables in a Kimchee soup style with basically large spaghetti noodles. I'm pretty sure most of this came from the chef store next door. Not fresh or unique noodles. I would order this again if I went there. The pork dish was really a very sweet gloppy mess with a nice mound of rice topped with a fried egg. We didn't eat much of this and took it home. Maybe my wife will eat the leftovers?? Overall I am generous here with 4 stars, mostly for service, and we are on the fence over returning again. Decent food but just not our "jamb". Ultimately we ate the leftover spaghetti soup (I felt ill after) but threw out most of the gloppy sweet pork dish and rice packed in a cardboard box that dried out! We happened to be in the area and this came up on Yelp so we decided to go randomly on a Saturday. I am so grateful we decided to go! First, both my husband and I were dressed nicer than usual because we had a birthday party after, so they gave us these cute aprons to wear to keep our clothes clean! We ordered garlic green beans, jajang noodles, and then tangsuyuk. The garlic green beans were fine (very garlicky, which I love but my husband said felt overpowering if he tried to eat anything after), the jajang noodles are clearly a fave (don't let "black bean sauce" deter you if you're not a bean girlie, trust me!), and the tangsuyuk was perfectly fried with the most delicious sauce. Great flavors at this little Korean restaurant in Bothell! We had their Combo A which includes a spicy seafood soup, a black bean noodle dish, and a deep fried pork dish with a sweet dipping sauce The Korean names are hard to pronounce and remember, but all were generous sized and delicious. The spicy soup was overflowing with squid, shrimp, and other shell fish, and the soup was rich and perfect on a cold evening. The deep fried pork was my favorite, not overcooked and also good portion size. The black bean noodle was decent but I wish it had just a bit richer sauce. We had enough to take home for leftovers which were just as good the next day! This is not a very big place, maybe 9-10 tables plus a small bar, so there might be a little wait. First time here and it won't be my last! I have been hearing about this place recently and wanted to try this place out. So my partner and I decided to trekked our way up north to Bothell to find this hidden gem. The restaurant is located in a plaza shared amongst with other businesses like Starbucks. As we entered the restaurant, we were seated immediately by the front door. We were instructed to scan the QR code for the menu. We decided to order the combo A which included the jjangmeon, tansuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjamppong. Here are my thoughts on each dish. Jjangmeon: The black bean sauce were sweet and saucy. I like the noodle chewy texture where it reminds me of spaghetti noodles. I do wish there were more flavors added to this traditional dish. Tangsuyuk: This was our first time trying this dish and we thought it was pretty good. They give you a bowl of sweet and sour sauce to pour over the pork. The pork was lightly battered and deep fried. I asked our server if we could sampled the mala sauce version and he kindly gave us a small bowl of the sauce to try. Overall, I would order this again but with the mala sauce instead since the spiciness made a difference to this dish. Jjamppong: Hands down our favorite dish of them all! The broth was flavored very well and it was spicy. You can taste the wok flavor in the broth. I also like having noodles and seafood in this dish. Really enjoyable to eat especially on a cold day! I don't often search for Korean food, but this place is pretty good overall. Although it doesn't scream the most authentic Korean menu (which would intimidate me anyways), it's still a viable option. The best dish IMO was the baek jjamppong; the (giant portioned) savory white broth hits the spot on a cold night, and that alone wants to make me return. The classic jjangmyeon was a bit disappointingly sweet and lacked the more traditional savory taste. The Tangsuyuk/ sweet and sour pork great light, airy batter, but the sauce was a bit too sweet as well. I do like how they offer combo dishes to sample and share things too. I have been driving by this place for months and never bothered to stop in, and I finally decided to make it a point to do it since the word noodle is in their sign. I'm so glad I did... At first I was a little thrown off by the fact the noodles were not what I was expecting, and there were so much unfamiliar things on the menu, but I was wowed by their shrimp fried rice (accompanied by their pork with bean paste which f-in' blew my mind). It was savory and spicy enough. Everything in the dish was well flavored. I would definitely come back just for this dish. The jajang noodles tasted just okay. There was nothing special and might have been a little too sweet for our liking. Tangsyuk was decent, but I feel like it's just that. Crispy fried pork dipped in sweet sauce. It's a traditional dish that I think is hard to improve. It didn't taste bad, but for two people, feels like it's too much haha. I love that they offer aprons during the meal because eating really saucy dishes can get a little messy. Hidden gem. Menu items are fairly priced for the portion sizes. We ordered Combo A to try the Korean-Chinese trifetca (jajangmyeon + jjamppong + tangusyuk) which easily feeds 4 people. Jajangmyeon perfectly balanced the black bean sauce with noodles, and jjamppong featured an abundance of seafood. Sweet & sour sauce for the tangsuyuk is on the light side for my tastes and found myself craving bolder flavor, but the pork was fried perfectly to my liking. I've had a lot of Korean-Chinese cuisine in my life but this one hits different. Let's start with their brisket jjangppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). I love that you can get their jjangppong with thinly sliced brisket on top because who doesn't like extra meat? The portions of seafood they throw in that bowl? Countless. So much shrimp, mussels, and squid. There's a place in Bellevue with a famous Korean chef's name attached to it; well, they give you like one of each piece. Modoo Banjeom? Well they give you a GENEROUS portion of seafood. The broth is rich but not too salty, spicy but not over the top. I'd say it's the best i've had. I'm usually a jjajangmyeon kinda guy, but whenever I come here, i feel i must get the jjangppong. If you're afraid of getting some sauce or broth on your favorite shirt, they have aprons that you can wear. Very nice touch! Their mala-tangsuyook (sweet n sour pork) is something i've actually never had before. maybe this is popular in Korea or maybe KTown in LA, but i've never come across it. Think regular tangsooyook sauce but with that tongue numbing spice to it. If you like that taste and sensation, I highly recommend it. Although i love the og version of tangsooyook, i can't stop ordering the mala version. I've been here probably 10 times and they're really consistent. We visited on a Sunday for an early dinner. The staff was friendly and very efficient in serving our food. They also offered aprons for eating the jajangmyun, which made for a fun experience. We each ordered a JaJang (N1) and shared the Mandarin roll (A1). The Mandarin roll was delicious--crispy on the outside--with a thinner condensed milk compared to what you might find at a Chinese restaurant. Disgustingly bad food. This place has either changed management or owners. I have been going to this Bothell location for years and have dined in with friends and family a lot. I also get take out often here...never again. It was so bad that I called to ask if the owners changed. She said that it's the same owners and the same recipes. I said no the recipe is NOT the same. Why are you now throwing in disgusting frozen bagged vegetables (you know that cheap lazy fried rice mix: corn, peas, beans) in your jjahjangmyun? And the creamy shrimp is so disgusting now!!! It's mushy and not edible! Whoever cooked this meal doesn't want to work there. They definitely need to do quality control. I told her there was no way that the same people made these dishes. Then she explained that the chef from the Lynnwood location switched shifts. I went to the Bothell location knowing that the food wasn't as good at Lynnwood so I guess the jokes on me. Delicious!!!! I tasted "wok chi" (a stir-fried food flavor from the wok) in a Jjamppong for lunch. The soup base was rich with flavors and just right at spicy level. They gave a good portion of food that I felt so full after finishing it all. I used to like the jjamppong from a Korean famous foodies' chain. But now I know I have a new go-to place for jjamppong. The two ladies working there are really nice. They give you exactly what you need at the time you need it. solid jajang spot !! my cousin and I decided to come here on Friday for dinner. Parking was easy to find as they have slots right up front in an accessible, free parking lot. It wasn't too busy around 4:30pm with only 3 other small groups inside the restaurant , so we were greeted right away and seated. The restaurant gives mellow, family dinner vibes. It's more on the quiet side and has a good amount of seating: not too close to each other. The menu is pretty concise with only one vegan option which is what I ordered. We didn't have to wait long for our server to come by either and they kindly checked on us often throughout our meal. You pay up front when you're done though. Vegan gan jajang noodles: I was expecting tofu or vegan meat for some reason, but the black bean sauce has baby corn, yellow corn kernels, green peas, and green beans inside. The black bean sauce itself is well salted and has a rich, savory flavor, but I felt like it needed more of a kick which is why I added a lot of the pepper on the table. The caramelized, diced onions inside the dish are plentiful. Therefore, if you usually hate onions like me, I would ask for less. They weren't raw, but rather soft which made it less noticeable. Though the noodles were long and had an addicting chewy texture. I also thought it was cool that the presentation of this dish keeps the sauce separate from the noodles because I hate over bloated noodles and it lets you control how much you want. jajang noodles (regular): my cousin really liked her dish noting pretty much the same sentiments as me. It was rich and has that black bean aroma wafting throughout the meal. There was a really good amount of pork in her sauce as well. They were cut into thicker slices, but still bite size. The meal was well balanced flavor wise and a good portion of sauce, but we wish there were more noodles. There was so much sauce left over at the end of the both of us, another portion of noodles or rice is necessary to finish the sauce. That was my only critique and the fact that the onions were a bit excessive in my opinion. I also wouldve loved to see more vegetarian/vegan options like veggie dumplings, but that's not a deal breaker since the noodles were good on their own. We especially loved the complimentary sliced yellow radishes that came on the side as they added a different crunchy texture to the soft dish and acidity to cut through the richness. Some other things to note is that they are closed everyday from 3-4pm for break. Therefore if you want a late lunch, this isn't the place for you.
