Tried this place for the first time today because their burgers seemed appealing and had a nice first experience. The burger I got was loaded, extremely heavy on the stomach but was pretty good. Ordered online-- Pros: - Food was amazing! So good I actually danced a little while I ate haha. - Got the Churrasca Na Tabua (steak, chicken, sausage, rice and beans and french fries) and a side order of fried yucca+plantains. - Meat was excellent quality, excellent flavor - Large portions, and minimal packaging for the delivery. I'm going to have to transfer some food to my own containers for saving, but there was enough for two meals, maybe even three for me. Cons: - Also got a salad and they forgot the dressing but I barely cared because the rest was so good. - The yucca was a bit dry but I'm not sure whether it's traditionally supposed to be or not-- it was still tasty. - Delivery time took a little longer than originally estimated, but overall within an acceptable time frame. read more

The restaurant itself is very small and probably can't accommodate large parties. It's mainly a takeout counter. Some friends and I placed a to-go order, and then picked it up 30 minutes later. The staff was friendly and kept apologizing because we had to wait a few minutes while they bagged our food. We didn't mind at all and rather enjoyed listening to the Portuguese spoken by staff and patrons alike. When we got home, we discovered that one of our five dishes was incorrect, so we called to let them know. Again, they apologized and offered to make it right. Mistakes happen in any restaurant, but we were very impressed that they rushed the correct meal right to our door at no extra charge. The food itself is delicious! Everything we ordered was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. It's mainly Brazilian comfort food, and for the price, it's a bargain. I will definitely be back soon to explore more of their menu. One thing that perplexed us was that their food and atmosphere is Brazilian through and through, yet very little about their branding indicates this. You'd never guess it from the name or from a casual glance at their website. You really need to read through their menu to discover all of the delicious Brazilian cuisine they offer. Also, a Google search for "Brazilian restaurants in Watertown" will not lead you to this hidden gem. We only heard about it through a Brazilian guy who recommended it at the local gym! I hope for their sake they learn to better advertise their Brazilian roots. It will only lead to more customers, as Watertown needs a good Brazilian place like this! read more

I'm really disappointed!! I have lived in Watertown for 4 years now and have only just tried this place! I got the beef Stroganoff delivered via foodler. Food arrived 30 mins early and it arrived fresh and plenty hot! Big portions and the food was on point. Really nice change of pace if you're looking for something different for take out food. read more

This is delicious and excellent Brazilian dishes at very good prices (it also happens to be 2 blocks from my house, so I'm very happy they opened). The servings of traditional Brazilian dishes are VERY generous. They also serve deli sandwiches. I got takeout, because the place is tiny. read more

I love the food at Alex's kitchen. It's delicious, it is authentic, and there are large portions for sure. Last night we ordered some bolinhos de bacalao, cod fish balls. There were supposed to be five and they put in seven. The moqueca was delicious with fresh fish and shrimp. The hearts of palm salad was great too. I highly recommend them. It is a small restaurant, but their food is not reflective of the size of the place. Give it a try! read more

I just moved to the neighborhood and happened to walk by this place. Got takeout that night, and was blown away by how good the food was. The frango no bafo (chicken w/ wine, garlic, and vegetables), rice and beans, and fried yuca and plantains were all phenomenal. Large portions, good prices. Huge portions and PLENTY of meat. Im a big/chubby guy and got the 'sabor de minas' and it had enough chicken, beef and sausage even some egg, that I could only finish half of it. They dont have 'meat on sword' like you see at a lot of Brazilians places. It is a small place so we grabbed take out and Im going to get at least 2 meals out of my plate. I look forward to trying more dishes. This is not an American interpretation of Brazilian food, this is authentic like from the country side, Brazilian cooking. If your open to a more natural authentic experience, its a great way to experience a little of some other culture / food style. read more

HOLY CRAP this was a fantastic eating experience. It's a real breath of fresh air in the Coolidge Square restaurant scene, such as it is. We got: Churrasco Na Tabua- steak cooked to order, grilled chicken, sausage and fries served with rice, beans and grilled onions. The fries were a little limp because of the delivery packaging but everything else was great. It was great, guys. The steak was cooked medium rare and perfect, the chicken had a great seat to it, the sausage was nicely spiced. Meat party, guys. And there was a ton. I'll be eating this for dinner tomorrow and I couldn't be happier. Mineirinho- fried chicken thighs, deep fried polenta, collards and rice and beans and grilled onions and HOLY CRAP this chicken was good. Chunks of tender chicken thigh falling off the bone with the crispy skin. Lord, this was good. The fried polenta was great too, and the collards were a nice counterpoint to the richness of the thighs. And again- a crapload of food. More leftovers. We didn't need two entrees. We also got a side of fried plantains and yuca, and this traveled a lot better than the fries had. The yuca was crispy and well-fried and the plantains were nice and caramelized. It was expensive, but this will last us another meal so I think it's well worth it. Go here. If you're sick of pizza and the Diner and Persian food- go here. Wow, okay--I almost walked by this place without noticing because it's small and looks more like someone's kitchen than a restaurant but I'm glad I gave it a shot because the food is amazing! It felt like coming into someone's home and being treated to a feast and the friendly service reflected this--you feel like you're part of someone's family. Succulent meat, perfectly cooked collard greens and heaping portions! The only downsides I could think of is that I didn't see feijoada on the menu and the flan could've been less eggy and more creamy but none of that detracted from the overall quality of the food for such a small, divey-looking place! There was also no music but I didn't mind because the whole experience felt like being in someone's home. read more

Delivery was extremely slow. I called twice after the estimated delivery time, and on the second call, no one even answered the phone. I think that they forgot to put our order in the first time around. When our steak and cheeses and a cheese burger finally arrived, all three were very salty. Updating my review to say thanks to the delivery guy. Who climbed up 6 flights of stairs to get my food. Our stupid elevator was broken and this poor delivery guy, ran up the stairs without complaining. Called back the store to increase his tip. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. The food is actually ok, however, the people that answer the phone, WHEN they do, are not helpful at all. Multiple times, I ordered food, and it was scheduled to be delivered at a certain time, and the only answer I got was "we are busy". When informing I had placed an order 2 hours earlier, all they said was "we are busy." Once again, horrible service! Will not be ordering there again read more

This place lived up to the hype. THe food is not pre made so you will have to wait a few minutes but it was worth it! I asked for tabasco sauce to go with my collard greens. They gave me two small containers worth when most places will say they dont have any that will travel. They are so small you almost miss them, but trust me, you wont want to! read more

Our first visit, we tried the tilapia dish with stewed veggies, rice and beans, and we also ordered the vegetarian plate. Both were excellent. Since the fish dish was ready first, we decided to eat at the restaurant, and when the veggie plate came, we saved it for the next evening. The portions are generous, and the quality is terrific. On the second visit, we got a salad and the cod potato cakes. Again, both were very good. The salad was supposed to come with olives, but Marjorie forgot to put them in, and when we called to mention it, she offered to give us our next salad for free. Great service and wonderful food.
