Stumbled upon this place while in town, and couldn't be happier. There's an array of empanadas to choose from ranging from savory to sweet which made it difficult to choose. Ultimately I went for the chicken classico and chicken and mushroom. Both of these were flavorful with a golden brown flakey crust that was still nice and soft on inside. The chicken was tender and flavorful adding a slight kick of heat without being overpowering. The chicken and mushroom had an added layer of sauce that helped tie the flavors together and the mushrooms were perfectly tender. Adding to it was a chimichuri sauce that tasted fresh and came in spicy or regular. Ultimately what I liked about these empanadas was that they felt fresh and not frozen like many other places. Despite being only one person, the server was quick with taking orders, working the register, and serving the empanadas. While there isn't much seating inside, I came here with a large group and was able to finding seating. I can see it getting crowded as there were always people coming in. These empanadas were great! I loved the green sauce to go with them, and the hot sauce at the table. I went here today with a large group and we were easily able to find a table and sit comfortably. There were a ton of empanada choices- it was hard to pick which one to get! I ended up getting the mushroom chicken one, and the eggplant one. The woman working asked if I wanted them heated up, and if I wanted cheese on top of the eggplant one which I thought was a really nice touch! She seemed to be the only one working but was able to give each customer a good experience. She even brought our food out to the table which was really nice. Chicken mushroom- the crust on this empanada was not as flaky as I would have liked, but it was still good. I liked the sauces with it but I'm not sure I would get this one again. The flavor was good, but when I get an empanada I like to have that flaky shell. Eggplant- this empanada was delicious! The shell was flaky and the filling was outstanding. Picked up 4 types empanadas, classic beef and chicken, spicy chicken and another beef one with raisins, for a World Cup final watch party. Store was festive today with Argentina being in the final. We were planning on going to this asian bakery on the same street, but they were sadly closed, so we decided to try an empanada while we were here. We got the chicken and mushroom one and it was hot, fresh, and creamy. The chimichurri was supposed to be spicy but wasn't at all, but it was still a nice flavor. This is a small place that is self-serve. They have a bunch of options for empanadas, other pastries, and some desserts as well that we did not partake in this time. I love food and all kinds of foods. This place doesn't really do it for me. Thr crust is a bit more than I like and the ratio between the crust and filling is not proportional. I went when it first opened awhile back not sure if they made any changes. I haven't come back since. We went several times hoping that it was opening issues bút thế empanadas we're not great as mentioned above!! I am going to assume it is my taste and it isn't the restaurant!! I came to this place because I went to Grandma's Kitchen (few doors down) and the wait for food was soooo long despite calling in ahead of time. I was glad to see several new restaurants opened on this block. Ambiance: This place is pretty small but very cozy and looks clean and bright. Its a comfortable place for very small parties to dine in, but there is also a table right outside. The display showing all the empanadas had labels telling you the name of each, but it was hard to decipher what was inside (to me). Pricing: Reasonable. Check the little blackboard on the right side. I took the 3 piece combo for $12.99. Empanadas were decently sized for the price and a 3 pack would make a nice meal for someone. Food: I asked what was popular and the messi was something new. Its beef and onions inside and to us, tasted like a steak and cheese. It was the best one. I also had a spicy churro, but it tasted similar and I can't really tell the difference or distinguish the two. I also got the classic chicken and that was dry and not good. I wouldn't recommend that one but the other 2 were good. I wished they had a plain one with just chicken and cheese inside. Many of the options seems to say onions and peppers, so if you like that stuff, then you'll have plenty of options. If you're with someone that likes plain-er food or are picky eaters then this is something to consider. Service: Very friendly from the single person running the show. Im a savory person and my fiance is a sweet person so I tried the Beef Clásico which had ground angus beef, onions, red bell peppers, scallions & egg. I used to live around the corner from Che Empanada and loved it. My husband and I would purchase from them fairly frequently. We moved away a few months ago, but today I was in Newton and thought I'd grab some empanadas to take home. Things are very different, and not in a good way. First, they used to heat up the empanadas in an actual oven, but today, the person heated them in a microwave, pretty much ruining them. (I put them in the air fryer when I got home, and that helped.) I ordered 2 spicy chicken and 2 spicy chorizo empanadas. They used to mark the inside of the box so we'd know which were which. Didn't do that today - we had to guess. They used to have both regular and spicy chimichurri sauce, but today they had no spicy sauce. And finally, I used to be able to buy 2 chocolate alfajores (delicious dessert), but they no longer sell 2 chocolate ones. I had to buy a pack of 3 - 2 chocolate and 1mystery flavor. I'd been SO looking forward to going to Che today, but this was a huge disappointment. I hope they'll fix these things and return to being the great place they once were. read more

Definitely very fresh empanadas. I got a beef one, a creamy chicken one, and also a chorizo empanada. The baked breading texture on the outside was very nice, appropriately browned, balancing out the more flavorful insides. I found all the flavors a bit too salty, but that's just my taste. I also had a bit of a hard time distinguishing the chorizo from the beef. The interior is well decorated and looks like a nice place to chill out. read more

Wow - so delicious! The caprese was my favorite - the flavor, freshness, and dough were fantastic. Spicy Chicken was next. Cute local business-I hear they just opened, congratulations on the new store. I was visiting my in-laws who live in the area and we stopped by for a quick bite to eat. We were a large-ish group of 8, and the owner was very kind and brought out a few extra chairs for us (there is indoor and outdoor seating.) Head up to the front and let your eyes be delighted by the different types of empanadas- I think there were about 15 different types! They even had a few veggie options (which was perfect because we had a vegan in our group). I tried the classic beef and the criolla- both were packed with meat and spices and were delicious! I especially enjoyed the criolla, the raisins added a sweetness that complemented the ground beef. Definitely recommend asking them to heat it up for you. Not to be biased I love Argentine Empanadas the best so far, because it has a variety of flavor bursts that runs through your mouth. Its even better with chimichurri sauce. When there don't forget to try the Alfajors. They are home made and better than the boxed versions.
