My auntie brought me out (to treat me to lunch). It's a beautiful and spacious location with larger and colorful murals on the walls. It's also near the parking garage; which is right adjacent. We orders the guacamole which is rich and had a nice tang of lime. I ordered the Agava margarita which was sweet and salty (salt around the rim was a nice touch). My aunt got the horchata with cinnamon which had a lovely cooling effect after eating the flavorful and intense Queso Fresco (in a big stone bowl). I got the Cholo enchiladas with mole. It was deep flavorful and mouthwatering, and there was also a salsa verde that balanced it out nicely. My aunt had the Asada tacos which she was nice enough to give me one. The steak was complemented with a tasty salsa verde. The server was polite, and made sure to get our order correct. She was also lovely. It was a truly wonderful experience.

The place was a couple of years old so it looked brand new. There was a heavy Mexican influence with Mexican music, pictures and staff. I had a Barbados burrito served as a bowl. The bowl was actually warm which I found as a nice touch. It had beans, rice, guacamole, meat and lettuce. I was plenty full so the portion size was more than enough. Once again parking was a concern. I parked in a neighboring parking lot but because it was a Sunday, I had to look for a space. I was looking for a variety platter so I could test a sampling of items. If they revise their menu, I would consider adding this as an entree. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Mexican cuisine.

So yum! They have the best enchiladas, guacamole, and margaritas. The staff is super friendly as well! Good music and overall vibe

Overall, a bit underwhelmed by the food at Condesa. I was hoping for dishes that separated their traditional Mexican fare from the many other options around Boston. In general, the flavors fell a little flat and the food was over-portioned. The restaurant was quite cold and service staff seemed a little distracted during a slow shift. Not a terrible option if you live in the area, but not my favorite spot in the city.

    Sisters! Having fun at Condesa.

I visited Condesa for the first time yesterday and was a bit underwhelmed. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with bar and standard seating available. The bar is well stocked, with a wide selection of tequilas. Parking was easy since there's plenty of spaces available in the plaza. We ordered shrimp ceviche, calamari, and street corn. This is where the experience started to go downhill. The shrimp ceviche was just okay but lacked the acidity and vibrant flavors you expect. The dish consisted of shrimp, cucumber, and avocado, without the added color and taste that ingredients like tomatoes, cilantro, and peppers could have provided. The calamari was a disappointment as well. The batter was really crunchy and hard. The texture overpowered the calamari itself. The sauces served with it were good. The street corn was the biggest letdown. It was overcooked, which gave it a mushy texture, and was overly acidic. This simple, classic dish missed the mark entirely, lacking the flavor and crunch you'd expect. The sticks used for the street corn were also useless, very flimsy. The service was very good. Our waiter was sweet and attentive. The highlight of the meal was the complimentary chips and salsa. Condesa has potential, but the flavors of the food need significant improvement as everything we tried was bland.

I think this restaurant should have more stars. The ambiance is great for a fun hangout with friends. Margaritas come in lots of great fresh fruit flavors, and there are tons of dishes that you can try. I'm a sucker for good refried beans- and these honestly remind me of what I've had in Mexico. Their rice is great too. & Those are just the basics! I think the steak is super flavorful- and recommend dishes with steak, if you like meat. We recently had super satisfying takeout from here, and were surprised that they added fresh chips as well. I also really liked the fresh tortillas that came with the dish, and enjoyed making tacos with steak, avocado, and the super spicy grilled jalapeño.

    Al Pastor Tacos

Imagine a cooking competition, but judged by regular people who may eliminate a dish because of a disdain for sour cream (or something). I try to avoid deducting stars for personal preference, which makes writing balanced reviews tricky. This was the case with the Al Pastor Tacos. I tried the Jalapeño Calamari, Tacos Al Pastor, and a virgin Margarita (requested as not too sweet). Chips and salsa were also served to start. The chips were nothing to write home about, and they seemed like they were out of a bag and lacked even salt. The salsa offered some redemption. While it wasn't chunky as I prefer, I will give them points for the salsa being delightfully peppery! The Jalapeño Calamari was excellent! It was cooked to perfection, and the squid wasn't rubbery! The breading was very crisp and had a pleasant level of heat. The Chipotle aioli was enjoyable and added a lovely creaminess and additional savoriness. It did take a little of the edge off the heat, interestingly. Meanwhile, while I liked the jicama as an ingredient, its use as a garnish in this dish felt out of place. Calamari is finger food, and julienned jicama is not; do I grab a ton of matchsticks and devour them that way? I'm on a first date here! I want to seem like a gentleman, not a barbarian. Finally, there's the question of the fried jalapeños the menu claimed would make an appearance, and they did not. There were instead three slices of fresh (uncooked) pepper, and that's it. With this dish, word of advice (and I make no claim this originates in the mind of greatness). Combine the jicama, jalapeño, and maybe another ingredient (or two) into a side salad or slaw. The Tacos Al Pastor is where this review starts to get hairy for me. Before I break out the stocks and pillory the poor chef, let me share some positives. First, they do not skimp on meat. The amount of pork is just right, not so much they overflow, not so little it seems like a condiment. Second, points for authenticity with the tacos being topped with just onion and cilantro. Third, I enjoyed the rice and beans. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the beans though mashed, had terrific flavor and texture. However, here comes leading the chef to the stocks. This is where I try to be lenient as it applies to stars: If I were to condense my issue with the tacos into a sentence: they lack 'oomph.' The pork seemed more braised (together with pineapple). This could be a 'me' thing as I am not a fan of braised meat. However, braised or not, the flavors of both protein and pineapple seemed muted. As for texture, it was somewhere between tender and tough. Same thing with moisture, not dry, but not what I call moist either. Now, I realize pork is not inherently a tender or moist meat, yet this preparation still left some to be desired. If I can suggest one change (without redoing the pork), it is to add a crema or other sauce, preferably with a touch of heat). When it comes to the [not too sweet] virgin margaritas, these were, as the server described them, "Fancy lemonade." While these were enjoyable, they landed on the bill at $10. Mocktails are in a grey area in terms of price... I get why they wouldn't cost as much as coke, and they should be cheaper than their alcoholic cousins. However, whereas most margaritas are $12, ten bucks for "fancy lemonade" seems excessive. Finally, there is the service. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and had a cheerful demeanor. However, I found the overall service slow, and I could have been more attentive. While the Jalapeño Calamari was excellent, the rest of the meal and the service left some to be desired. It might be a good place for a bevy and some apps, but I don't feel a draw to return for a sit-down dinner.

    Cool glass chandelier in entryway

We had seen this restaurant every time we came to Arsenal yards but hadn't been until now. Seems like they're quite popular. Glad we made reservations few days ahead. Also, with the holidays, places get busy. Really cool entryway with a huge bright colorful glass chandelier! Also cool holiday decor. Inside seemed smaller than I'd thought it would be. And it was packed which is a good sign. Chips and salsa for the table came immediately and was tasty. The salsa was more of a sauce rather than chopped. We ordered the La Sandia watermelon margarita which was really good. Street corn on the cob with cheese was quite good but I've had better. For entrees we ordered the chili lime salmon, the enchilada mole, and the pork burrito. Everything was tasty. I was looking for a lime or lemon to squeeze on my salmon and fished out the wedge of lime out of the margarita hehe!! Decor is cool with a mix of graphic art and food pictures on the walls. The wall of windows is lined with hanging plants which is nice. It is a bit loud but that's to be expected since it's a small space and lots of people, plus the music. Overall nice meal and worth trying at least once.

I came to the Boston area on a work trip and met with a friend at Condesa during my free time. The vibe was really cool and perfect for a night out with friends or date night! We started with drinks, I got the La Sandia margarita and she got the Diablo margarita. We both enjoyed our drinks and had complimentary chips and salsa to snack on while we waited for our food. Next was the queso fundido which was my favorite taste of the night, my only complaint is we definitely did not get enough tortillas to enjoy it with, but we had some chips left so we used those to finish it off. At this point, we were very full but our entrees were coming. I had ordered the Mexican burger, and while I could only eat half of it, it was very flavorful. Usual ordering a burger at a Mexican or Tex mex place is against my rules (there are so many better options!) but I couldn't resist a burger made with the combo of chorizo and beef, and topped with jalepeno and avocado *chefs kiss* I was not disappointed. I also was so focused on my plate and our conversation catching up, that I'm not really sure what my friend got- but I know she enjoyed it!

We walked into a spacious, contemporary space with a large bar and plenty of seating, the kind of place that works equally well for watching a game with friends or a relaxed dinner. The interior had a comfortable, polished energy that struck a balance between lively and approachable, and the extensive beer and whiskey selection added to the inviting atmosphere. The menu goes beyond typical bar food with a mix of elevated comfort dishes, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and seasonal entrées. We ordered a few items and found the Chilean sea bass standing out, paired with a flavorful sauce that complemented the fish without overpowering it. The lamb with gnocchi was another popular choice, offering a hearty and well-balanced dish with tender meat and pillowy gnocchi that absorbed the rich sauce. The burgers were cooked to order and made a reliable option for something more casual, arriving juicy and well assembled. For drinks and appetizers, the calamari, burrata, and flatbreads were good options to share, each coming out fresh and well seasoned. The bar program was another highlight, with a wide selection of craft beers, whiskey, and classic cocktails that were well prepared and paired naturally with the food. Service was friendly and welcoming, with staff happy to make recommendations and accommodate different group sizes. While some visits could experience slower service during busy periods, the overall experience tended to be attentive, and the team worked to create a comfortable atmosphere for both families and larger groups. The pacing of the meal stayed steady, and the food came out without much delay. Parking is available in a small lot, though it could fill up during peak dining hours, and the restaurant's location near shopping on Needham Street made it a convenient stop before or after running errands. Overall, District 118 Kitchen & Bar is a solid choice for anyone looking for elevated pub fare in a relaxed setting. The combination of quality food, a strong drink selection, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it equally enjoyable for a casual lunch, dinner with family, or an evening out with friends.

I attended an event being held at this restaurant and was surprised and disappointed in the restaurant. The networking event itself is not being reviewed here. So where to start... accessing the restaurant was a bit of a nightmare. The garage (parking is $4-24) was the only place to park and the elevators were out of order and the garage was dimly lit. It was frankly not safe. The driveways were partially blocked for construction which I had to navigate around as a pedestrian. This is not realistically accessible for those who have mobility limitations (the temporary attempts at ramps are not usable with a wheelchair). I was given beverage menus after arrival. They were extremely hard to read as the lighting was turned down. I did manage to read it when I put the menu directly under a pendant. The beer and wine selections looked interesting! I was looking for something non-alcoholic and there was no water readily available nor offered. There were a few (maybe 4) mocktails on the menu-they looked interesting so I got one that resembled a mule (ginger beer based). I ordered one so I wouldn't be empty handed as I talked with people, especially at a networking event. The server gave it to me and made a point of saying "here is your mocktail" (which itself is not unreasonable; referring it by its name or "beverage" is much more appropriate in those circumstances as the drink type and alcohol content or lack thereof is not anyone else's business). The food menu never appeared. The appetizers that were left out for the group were picked over and unappetizing. Cold fried calamari that has been sitting out? No thanks. A cheese and cracker board with no crackers and no serving implements? No thanks. There were two flatbreads there-I had a small square of each and these were ok. About 15 minutes before the event was scheduled to end the server asked me if I wanted another mocktail. I responded with an affirmative. I assumed he had canceled the order as the event ended. As I was getting ready to leave when the event ended (I had my jacket on at that point and he had validated my parking!), he brings over the mocktail and says "here is your mocktail" and sets it on the high top table where it just sat as I left for home. I have no idea if he charged the hosts for the beverage. I left hungry. I left a bit thirsty. I left surprisingly frustrated at the restaurant. When I arrived home, I made myself dinner. Fortunately, I enjoyed meeting new people as the event itself was interesting.
