Alfa Auto Glass fixed my windshield about 2 months ago! My windshield most certainly has been holding up well! Remember, it's ALFA, not Alpha. I did not know which auto glass shop to go to, so I called the most popular one on cable tv and two others in my neighborhood. The popular place was responsive, however had some negative reviews, one being some mechanics didn't show up to scheduled appointments! When I spoke with Guilmar the owner of Alfa Auto Glass he nearly had me convinced before I called #3. He explained 3 very important things: 1. The adhesive he uses is highly and fast binding. Some other places use cheap adhesive that even takes longer to dry. 2. He purchases high quality glass for a good price. Some other places just take whatever cheap import that is available. Guilmar knows the glass brands and sticks with the quality of glass he prefers to install. 3. Some mobile auto glass repairs have no physical business! They are just a mobile phone # and might do cheap work. They can easily cancel and change the phone # making it very difficult to find them to get a replacement or refund! I called the other two shops with questions about the adhesive and the glass they chose and they did not respond with satisfactory answers, and they had no idea about the glass brands. So, on one of my last nights in SF my car was broken into!! I shopped around and found someone from Yelp to fix the window. Bad idea, came to the house while it was raining didn't put the right color window in but it was to dark in the garage to tell. Moved to SoCal, first day of the snow season the little husband decides to go snowboarding at Mt. Baldy...eats it hard on one of his last runs and doesn't realize he had lost both his Blackberry Bold (two weeks out of the box) and the alarm key to our truck. So, I had a recent unfortunate incident happen to me today in which lucky and unlucky things happened. I was shocked such a brazen attack happen in so called "Safest Place in CA." Unlucky thing: My driver's side passenger window got smashed by some idiots running around Irvine, looking for laptops left in cars. I was one of three cars within the 4 block radius. ***The Irvine PD officer that helped me out today was actually very helpful and nice. Is he like the only one that I've encountered to have a good personality? Wow. And he was cute... Besides that it was nice he waited for me in the morning until I left my residence to follow up with me. Also: NOTE TO SELF: CHANGE Insurance provider from FARMERS to something much better. My agent is never available and he seems to always increase my payments and is never there to answer his calls. What's up with that? Aside from all the drama listed above, (this should seriously just be a journal entry for today,) I logged onto: Alfa Auto Glass' website and set up a quote. They email you their best price and Ruano in Santa Ana was quick at emailing me back. The price: Less than $200 for a repair. So, my scheduled repair is for tomorrow after class. I stumbled upon Alfa Auto Glass after having been given the run around with my insurance company and a well known auto glass company. I was told by the previous glass company that they would not be able to get me the OEM glass I wanted for my Range Rover. I was also told the pillar molding would most likely break apart when they needed to instal my new windshield and that the company would not be held responsible for any damages done to my vehicle as well as not be able to recalibrate my car. Needless to say, after 2 long weeks of frustrations, I was able to get in contact with Alfa Auto Glass. Guilmar was so pleasant and helpful! He assured me they would be able to have the OEM glass as well as deal with the insurance themselves. After they got my insurance to approve the work, they came out to my house the following day and made everything just seamless from there on out, including keeping the pillar molding intact!!! So ... it's been two months' time and NO LEAKS! However I will say the clarity of the glass is kind of dangerous during rainy weather. Replace the wipers to isolate the problem? Yep, tried that ... Even after replacing my windshield wipers the windshield doesn't allow water to pelt down properly so the visibility through the glass is pretty poor still. Basically I am reluctant to drive in rainstorms now because the glass gets really blurry (not foggy) as if you're letting cooking oil run down the side of your water bottle ...weird just as if the porosity gets negatively affected. read more
