Well... I had my first appointment today for x-rays and a cleaning. When you first walk in to the waiting area, it seems kind of rundown. The receptionist was very nice and friendly and I didn't have to wait too long for my appointment. I've had that problem in the past with other dentists. After my cleaning, I had an exam with the dentist. I have an impacted wisdom tooth and she proceeded to tell me that no oral surgeon is going to be willing to remove it because of its positioning and potentially damaging my sinuses, etc., and that the pain I'm experiencing isn't from the impacted wisdom tooth that it is from the small cavity in the molar under the tooth. She told me impacted wisdom teeth do not cause pain. Seriously! They absolutely can and do cause pain. This is making me reconsider going back. read more

I had my first appointment with this dentist office, and let me just say I do not recommend. When I got there, I had to wait over 25 minutes after my appointment time to be called back and when I did, the assistant was very rude to me that I did not give her the paperwork (even though the front desk told me to give it to them when I am called back). She said "are you coming" after not telling me to come back. Then when the Dentist came in to finish, she was so rude and told me "you really need braces your teeth are so bad" even though in my whole life I have never been told this. She was so mean to me and so rough with my mouth when I told her that my wisdom teeth are causing me so much pain, she kept pushing my jaw open more when I kept saying it hurt. The reviews don't lie. Stay away from this place. The girls and women working here are completely unprofessional, unethical and shouldn't be working with the public. How many times does a person need to repeat sensitive information relating to the patient only to have these people turn right around and say OUT LOUD the wrong information. 3 times in a half hour. The dentist has caused me so much pain. I have been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia due to her damaging the nerve in my tooth from placing too much filling in there. She has since filled another cavity and I am now dealing with two levels of Trigeminal Neuralgia instead of the one.. I am scheduled for surgery in April to open up my skull to numb the nerves on that side of my face. I have to give a star in order to post this review. Otherwise I would not. read more

I am so mad. My wife took my daughter Summerlyn here for a cleaning. They showed up early, but it took the staff until more than an hour after the scheduled time to actually see my daughter. The first people to see her were good, but when the actual dentist finally arrived he violently scraped at her teeth and loudly admonished her about "not brushing well enough" until she cried, and then yelled at her to stop crying. Yeah, real piece of work. I was scheduled to go there next week, but I cancelled my appointment. I will be going to a different dentist, and Alfordable will absolutely NOT be seeing me or my family again, and hopefully after reading this review they will not see you or your family either. I went here for a cleaning because I was having gum issues. The dentist would not offer any pain med prescription. She picked and stabbed at my teeth really hard and cried "Owe! You are biting me!" I wasn't she had her finger pressed up against my teeth really hard. I had issues with a previous bad dentist as a 5 year old. This was pretty hard and rough and the dental assistant wasn't any better. I will not be going back to this crazy lady who accuses her patients of biting her. read more

I've been meaning to report this place for a couple months now. I am a dental assistant and I got assigned here for a day through a temp agency. The doctor here is performing malpractice. She does not use loops (magnifying glasses) which has been a standard of care for decades now. She does not perform thorough exams and does not clean teeth in any way shape or form. Notice how there is no hygienist working there. She has the assistant polish and floss then comes in for less than 5 minutes and pokes around. At most this could be billed as an exam but not a cleaning. They are billing these short appointments as cleanings which means you cannot go anywhere else within 6 months or you will be charged out of pocket. The other thing I noticed in my horrifying day spent there is that they were billing insurance for full sets of X-rays when taking two to 4 check up X-rays. These can be billed once a year and covered by most insurances. When billed for a full set (18 X-rays) insurance will not cover that again for 3-5 years. If you come here you will be a victim of the worst insurance fraud I've seen in my career. Do not get any work done here, you will most likely need it re done. The doctor is a mean cold horrible money hungry woman who should have her license taken away. Most places do not take Medicare because they don't pay out as much as other dental insurances. They do accept Medicare- the only reason some people have to resort to these types of clinics. Medical especially dental insurance is atrocious in this county and I feel horrible when I see it happen. Please use this with your best judgement when seeking dental care. Best of luck. read more

Making the appointment went smooth; very cut/dry on the phone. Arrived 10 min until appointment, was greeted and given paper work to fill out. Lobby appeared clean Hygienist bring me back and explains what we will be doing; x-ray, cleaning, Dentist for final exam. Hygienist does X-rays, the machine keeps turning itself off and she has to turn it back on; repeatedly. The camera end is broken and she has me hold it in place; I hope I wasn't exposed to more radiation by this!!! She gets ready to start the cleaning and gets called away, another "hygienist" comes over to do cleaning and she is either new or under-experienced. Either too rough or too soft. Dentist comes in, introduced herself (medium accent), starts her exam which apparently includes scraping of the teeth (traditionally my hygienist has always done this). She starts off by telling me o have 2 cavities by look only, is super rough the entire time, lectures me heavily, tells me I need seen every 3 months! Asks about my last dental; I go very regularly and last dentist called for once a year and she seemed appalled! She kept scraping and scraping and jabbing the suction into my gums! I'm stuck in a state of "WTH" Finally she's done and a dental assistant walks me to the front desk, I'm late for work so I tell them I'll call for an appointment (I won't)!!! It's 8 hours later and I'm still in pain over a basic cleaning!!!!! I do NOT recommend this place and won't be returning!!!!! read more

Waited almost 3 months for an appointment for a cleaning for my wife. I got a call less than two hours before the appointment that the office canceled her appointment because someone "called out sick" and scheduled her for another 2 months out. Then I got us both banned from the clinic for voicing out of frustration that the lady was a b!tch. Over the last 3 weeks they have called me at less 3 times to see of she can come in early because they are trying to fill their schedule. Rotten to the core. This place is great! Dr. Almajan is WONDERFUL! I don't know why people are giving this dentist bad reviews! I found the wait to be very quick, and Dr. Almajan had WONDERFUL bedside manner. I was having trouble getting numb, and she patiently waited with me through a panic attack until I was ok, and then made TRIPLE sure she numbed me up enough before continuing with my extractions! 7 teeth pulled today, and I was there for an hour and 10 minutes total, including wait time! 100% recommend this office! read more

***WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE*** Please listen to the reviews for here, this clinic is a joke at best. The dentist should have her license revoked by the state and shouldn't be able to practice, she is a literal danger to the patients coming here. She knows what she is doing, it seems she's done these awful things and knows it but continues to practice unethically. This was my experience: I had set up an initial visit to getting imaging of the tooth in question and go over my allergies. Everything was pretty routine. I had explained that medication I was and was not allergic to was and what my dentist prior to her had done. She said okay and understood that I was allergic to a certain medication and that it made me very ill. She did not state this was an issue and this was explained clearly, she knew what I could and couldn't take. After this visit, I went in and for an extraction of the tooth but during this visit she initially numbed me and then went to other patients and the one she extracted before me was literally screaming in pain from not being numbed enough and the dentist was pulling the teeth out regardless. I had to be re-numb and it went okay but she was really rough about it (she ended up breaking a filing next to the tooth and blamed me) but I had to literally tell her that she had to numb me again because it had worn off because I was not going to tolerate her doing what she did to the other person. Afterwards, she asked me what pain medication I could take and I explained as I had in our prior appointment what I could and couldn't take. This is what she told me that "Purdue Pharma went out of business and is no longer making oxycotin"(I didn't ask for oxycotin) and then going onto say that "I was talking to my husband about it because I feel bad for all the heroin addicts who are going to overdose more because they aren't making it anymore." I explicitly explained that the medication she wanted to give me made me very sick and I'm allergic to it. But that's what she gave me. I found out that her statement was completely false and I called and asked why she misinformed/lied to me and gave me something I was allergic to. She explained that she "didn't like that medication" and "wasn't comfortable with it." I suffered greatly because of her choosing to give me something I couldn't take and was in absolute misery for quite some time after she had done the extraction. I asked her why she wasnt up front about it, so that I could have made an informed medical decision for myself because if I had know this treatment from her was the case I would have asked her for a referral to an oral surgeon who specialized in extractions but she only went onto say that "she didn't like it" as a response to why she hadn't been upfront or honest or why she hadn't referred me to an oral surgeon. I however, did not get any choice and she knew what she was doing and how wrong it was. I am absolutely appalled by her lack of ethical practicing. I can only say that if able to go anywhere else, go elsewhere and avoid this dentist at all cost. read more

Nobody smiles. Nobody greets you. Nobody introduces themselves. Did I do something wrong when I walked in or is everyone simply a disgruntled robot? They mumble too. Dentist is jittery, defensive, and seems very stressed out because she was actually flailing her arms. Awkward space with an enormous "GOD IS AWESOME" sign paired with Christian music playing non-stop. Very disorganized. Zero communication skills. Was going to be charged double the quoted amount! If they would have been professional and FRIENDLY, I really would have happily paid for the service to be performed but I am not about to support people who think they can treat their customers so poorly. This place is the worst and if i had any choice in dentists i would never go here. Lets start off with the fact that there is only one dentist here, a woman that speaks so softly you can hardly heae anything that is being said, and her attitude is horrible on top of that. Secondly it takes over an hour past your schedualed appointment time to be seen because every time she books 4 + people at the same time... Did i mention she was the ONLY doctor at this office. Third the disorganization here is absolutly ridiculous, someone who had an appointment time later than me was pulled in to be seen well over 40 minuites before me and then in the back the guy i got my novicaine before he got his novicain (yes i can see him from where i was seated and saw him get it after me) had his teeth filled before mine. Fourth the staff working the front desk is beyond rude, they dont welcome you, they dont acknowlage you and then when you try to ask them a question they get snippy. All and all if you have any other choice in dentists i would avoid this place like the plague. read more

I booked a teeth cleaning here despite the negative reviews because they accepted my insurance. I don't think Alfordable Dental deserves one star reviews. The wait for the dentist is long, but everyone is friendly and as long as you know ahead of time that you'll be there for around 2 hours you'll be able to plan your schedule accordingly. The office is clean, bright, and well-equipped to handle several patients at once. I really liked Dr. Almajan. She was knowledgeable and efficient. She does schedule several patients at the same time, but she is very attentive and doesn't seem rushed, all while making sure to help each patient within a (semi)reasonable timeframe. I am sure this is to offset costs, so there is a tradeoff--I'd rather wait around for an hour and check my email than pay extra! read more

What a shame that there is not a more qualified dentist than this in Clark county for people who may need low cost dentistry. All the negative reviews are sadly accurate. The dentist does not communicate with the patient much at all, has a very poor bed-side manner, unprofessional, and seemingly cold. Slurs her words and is difficult to understand when she does speak. I went in with a cavity and it was filled, then 2 years later the filling was unstable and there were 2 more cavities from the area of the last filling. Then when she had to remove the old filling and put in the new ones (since I was having slight pain), the next day my tooth hurt terribly! Couldn't even touch it with my tongue let alone eat anything on that side. I was in pain from trying to get a simple filling done. Never had this happen in my life. I was really nervous about this place because of the reviews, but some of these people have far too much to complain about. Like the lady who complained because she couldn't understand the dr? The dr has an accent- but her English is perfect! And, she was kind, understanding, and really made it a good experience. (As good as an extraction can be) I have no dental insurance and other dentists quoted me upwards of $400 for an extraction and wouldn't be able to get me in for weeks. Alfordable understood the pain I was going through and brought me in on the same day I called at their lunch to help me out and extract my tooth. I've had many extractions, but this was by far the best! Exactly enough numbing and I healed great! Thank you Alfordable, if it weren't for you guys I would still be in agonizing pain. read more

This was the soonest after scheduling for the next day. I decided to give it a shot. Glad I did! Besides the other receptionist not being so inviting... Prior to coming here I hadn't been to the dentist in years, but knew I needed an extraction. I called about mid week, told them I had a baby tooth that was loose and just wanted it out and they let me know how much it'd cost with and without insurance ($150 cash w/out or free with my insurance). They told me to come in the following Tuesday with my insurance card, and a doctor's note (I'm 8 months pregnant) and they'd take care of it! Every other dentist I called would either 1) not want to do the procedure on someone this far along in their pregnancy or 2) didn't have any openings anytime soon, especially for a new patient. I waited a bit after my initial meet up for an ex ray with one of the dental assistants, but when the doctor came in she was sweet, explained what she was doing, and pulled it out pretty quickly. I went in about 10 minutes early (1:20pm) to fill out light paperwork and was in the car driving home by 2:20, so the whole process didn't take long at all. The rating would be about a 3.5 because it was an overall pleasant process, but I did have to wait a bit for the doctor to make her way to me. read more

I was very ready to get some work done because of other places giving me the run around about insurance. I have had bad teeth for years but in this case i had a very bad tooth with an abscess. The dentist did not care she did not adress or do ANYTHING. They took some x-ray's and told me to come back in a month. Another huge downside was we had to wait half an hour after we checked in. Then another half hour for them to come and numb me up. Then another half hour for them to do my fillings. My experience with this dentist: First of all, the lady who cleaned my teeth seemed nice enough. Then the dentist came in. She said, "I'm the dentist." I asked her name and she said, "Why do you want to know?" I kind of mumbled something and she begrudingly told me her name (Dr. Almajan). Then she asked me why I was there. I told her I had an abcess on my gum and she said, "What do you want me to do about it?" I told her I didn't know and that was why I was there. She looked into my mouth and told me that I had an overbite and that was the worst kind of bite and it should have been corrected when I was a child. (I am fine with it, by the way. It is not horrendous or anything!) I thought it was rude for her and her assistant to speak a different language while she was working on me. They would talk and then laugh; it made me feel that they were talking about me. After scolding me a bit, she set up a plan to have me go to an orothodontist for braces! (I am over 60 and have lived with my crooked teeth all my life.) She set up a plan to do a root canal which she planned to drill through a fixed ceramic bridge. I left the office with a plan that would have cost thousands of dollars, which I do not have, and still didn't have my problem solved. Later, I decided that I didn't want to go back to her and would find a different dentist. I asked for a copy of my x-rays. They said they would email them to me within a couple days. A couple weeks went by and I didn't have them so I went to the office. It was a day that they normally would be open. The office was closed with no sign explaining why. I went next door to ask about it and they confirmed that they were closed. I kept calling and getting an answering machine for days. Getting frustrated while I was on the phone, I was leaving a message that I really needed to get my xrays. My husband was in the background and said that they needed to be reported to authorities. Someone must have heard that comment because, within 30 seconds, the xrays appeared in my email! They never got back to me. Later, when I went to another dentist, I was told that if she would have drilled through the bridge, it would have caused major damage. Seeing other reviews, I can only imagine the pain level. Everyone is free to go where they choose but please consider the experiences of others. read more

This place is TERRIBLE!! I have been in here twice. Once for a consultation and once to get 3 teeth pulled. The first visit took THREE HOURS!!! That was just to be told that I needed my two bottom wisdom teeth and a molar extracted. I made an appointment for this week to get them pulled. The appointment was set for yesterday 4/28/14 at 9:30 I arrived a few minutes early and was not sat in a dental chair until 10:40 over an hour later. The dentist went straight to numbing my mouth . . she gave me numerous shots of Novocaine and then waited about 30 mins before coming back to see if i was numb. This is when my visit turned into a horror show!!! She started pushing and crunching my top molar to see if I was numb enough. I told her no, I wasn't . . I said owe owe and tried to get her to stop pushing but she didn't so I instinctively moved my head. This obviously made her mad because she kept telling me how it was just pressure, and that i need to sit still or she would not be able to do her job, that she has done this many years and can pull teeth but she cant keep me still. Okay fair enough I can see the dangers in moving!! I told her I was sorry and that if i felt pain not pressure I would raise my hand, and that if I was able to get completely numb I am sure I would be fine staying still. So she pushed forward and started to check the other side to see if maybe this was numb enough . . it was not and I raised my hand like we agreed and she got visibly mad and said "I can't do this" I couldn't believe what she was saying . . I had been in this clinic now 3 hours, I was numb and swollen in my face, she crunched my teeth pretty good but was not going to finish the job?!?!?! She could of easily given me more Novocaine and numbing medicine and waited longer but no attempt was made to get me more numb, she put extra shots in the right side, before she checked my left side, and that's when she said she was done, she didn't even go back to the right side to see if the extra shot had helped. I left there in tears, I was soooo upset . . she gave me no referral to see another specialist who could help, she refused to write me a prescription for the pain (my teeth were hurting prior to this visit terribly now she crunched em all up and hurt them more but wouldn't give me anything for it?!?!) she told me I would NEED to be sedated and that she doesn't offer that and I was let loose into the world with three teeth now in even more pain then when i walked in and a completely unsympathetic doctor telling me she basically wont even try!!! It was horrifying at best. However after calling almost a dozen clinics trying to find someone who would finish what she started I did get a hold of Elite Dentistry which is right by the Vancouver Mall, they were able to schedule me an appointment the NEXT DAY (which is today) at first for 3 pm but even bumped it to 10 am. Everyone there was super nice and Dr.Bhui was able to take all three teeth out without sedating me at all. He simply kept giving me more shots when I raised my hand. He was very patient and understanding of how hard it is to get me numbed up (something I warned Alfordable dental about) If i would recommend any dentist it would NOT be alfordalble. Go to Elite Dentistry and see Dr. Bhui he is amazing, his staff is amazing and they are all so kind and charming . . if u can go there you wont regret it . . but Alfordable dental . . . well lets just say maybe we shouldn't trust someone who doesn't even know how to spell affordable?!?! In the end though I am almost happy that she refused to do it, in the end my wisdom teeth were very stubborn, it took a lot of negotiating to get them out . . I fear had this women continued there may have been far worse repercussions!! read more

Reading the reviews for this place is comical. I have been there many times and witnessed patients being what normal people call verbally abusive to staff. This place goes above, and beyond to get emergency patients out of pain. Help low income people, and families with there dental needs. They also offer everything the state pays for and everyone knows when it comes to the state they don't pay to well perhaps the patients should be respectful. If you come here and treat the staff with respect you will get the same in return! I have never had a problem here. I will always refer people to Alfordable Dental! read more
