Amazing staff and gentle doctor, always taking care of me and I never feel anxious with the staff

BEWARE! Predatory Billing Practices I want to start by saying that my complaint is NOT about the dentists or their abilities. The dentists and dental assistants are fantastic. My complaint is entirely with this office's billing practices. I have UHC HMO insurance. This provider was the only one in the area that took our insurance so we did not have other options. I know this insurance isn't the best, and this provider appears to take advantage of that. With an HMO, the provider is under contract to charge only the contracted amount for covered services. As the patient, I should not be charged more than the amount my insurance allows. I went in for a root canal and crown, and the price I was quoted was almost $900 more than the contracted amount I should have been charged. When I questioned the cost, the front desk told me, "UHC is awful and they have outdated copay amounts in their system for services most dental offices no longer offer" I then asked if there was a less expensive crown option, and I was told, "No, this is the only type of crown dental offices do now. That's what I mean. They're outdated." As a patient I have no way to know what services they provide or dont and can only take the staffs word for it. Based on those statements, I proceeded with treatment under the impression that it was my only option and signed the treatment plan. I paid a $700 down payment and enrolled in automatic monthly payments. I pushed back through my employer and contacted UHC. UHC told me that what the provider did is called balance billing and that it is not allowed, so they opened a formal complaint. During the investigation, every one of my monthly payments was made. There was one that hit right when I had a fraud charge so I logged in and made a manual payment in their system. Despite that, I was called almost daily by the billing department and threatened with collections every single month even after that one hiccup. outside of that one month, all recurring charges went through. I called the office and was told to send an email. I sent my original email plus three follow up emails and never received a response. Later, I was told I should have called instead. When I explained that I had called and was specifically instructed to email, I was told they were too busy to respond and that I should have called again after emailing (which they never advised me to do prior). It was incredibly unprofessional. I STILL have not received a response, and that was over two months ago and this is the SECOND time I was told someone from Regional would call me and never did. I question if their regional even exists. After months of back and forth, the UHC representative handling my case, who was very thorough and put a lot of effort into helping me, told me the provider claimed they absolutely do offer other crown options and that I "voluntarily" chose the more expensive one despite being provided other options. That is the complete opposite of what I was told before treatment. Because it became my word against the front desk staff's, UHC said there was nothing more they could do. As you can imagine I am furious. The following day, my husband took our kids in and was told a filling would cost $150. Knowing what had happened with my treatment, he questioned the charge. The same front desk employee told him it was not an upgraded service and was simply the only type of filling they offer. This was the EXACT SAME explanation I was given regarding the crowns so we did NOT proceed with treatment. Luckily we have left the state and live somewhere where more providers take our insurance so we are no longer forced to go here. What was even sadder was seeing them set up a similar payment plan for an elderly woman because her "HMO didn't cover much." I know I am not the only person they are doing this to. They will surely respond to this asking me to call their office which I obviously wont do. I want no other communications with this office unless its in writing with regional. read more

BEWARE WORST DENTAL CLINIC WASHINGTON STATE I visited Vancouver Dental on SE 164th Ave specifically for a dental cleaning, as advertised. However, after arriving, they only did a quick check-up and told me that I'd need to schedule the actual cleaning for a later date. This was not what was initially promised or what I expected from their advertisement. To make matters worse, when I requested my records to get a second opinion at another dentist, they refused to provide them. This whole experience felt misleading and inconvenient. I'd advise others to be cautious and consider other options. Formal Complaint Filed Washington State Dept. Health To Whom It May Concern, Vancouver Dental, located at 918 SE 164th Avenue, Suite 200, Vancouver, WA 98683. The office advertises dental cleanings but, in my experience, did not provide the service as advertised. I scheduled an appointment specifically for a cleaning, but they only performed a basic check-up and informed me that they do not actually do cleanings, despite what was promoted. After this, I requested my dental records so that I could seek a second opinion from another dentist. Unfortunately, Vancouver Dental has refused to release my records, which I understand is a right I have as a patient. This refusal is both concerning and inconvenient, and I believe it's important to address this issue to ensure that other patients are not misled in the future. I do not recommend this dental office. The endontist and management are disorganized, dishonest and refused to communicate with me after my surgery. I do not feel cared for and regret coming here for something that is so important to me. After having dental surgery I was told I would be followed up with the next day. I immediately noticed mistakes were made during my surgery that would require me to come back into the office. The work felt sloppy and rushed and mix of dissolvable and non-disolvable sutures were used in my gums. Many things regarding my post care were not communicated and they failed to submit a prescription for post surgery mouthwash which they told me I would need to use. It took 3 weeks of calling into the office and being told I would be contacted back before I eventually was contacted. Even then both the staff and endontist pointed the finger at each other to pass the blame. I'm exhausted and disappointed and now face another dentist visit and more frustrations. I'm not willing to visit their office again. I understand that mistakes happen and people get busy, but failing to communicate with a patient for 3 weeks post surgery while I regularly checked in with your office is unacceptable. I would recommend finding another dental office where their endontist and office manager don't travel between offices.  I did not work with their regular dentists, I have nothing to say regarding the quality of their work. read more

Just to correct. Root canal was done in 2011 from a different doctor that caused infection but it wasn't taken care of. I got to know about it when I changed the dentist, there is no more tooth structure left and I have no other option expect implant. read more

Was able to get a last minute appointment after my appointment at another dental practice was cancelled. Very impressed by the professionalism of the staff. Dr. Kim was great. She made sure I was not on any pain during my scaling and filling. She also called me the next day to see how I am doing and to make sure that I filled my prescriptions. Rates were very reasonable as well. read more

I had a terrible experience with Vancouver Dentist Office, June 2023 when I called in the office needed to do implant, the front desk person told me no charge for examination, because I provided my regular dentist info to them. Recently I found out they charged for the exam. They canceled my appointment twice with the float implant doctor, even I was already sitting in the office, but the doctor asked me what he needed to do? I said "you should know before I came to the appointment gather all the information that you needed for this appointment." Then I had to call I regular dentist to explain to him what's going on with my tooth. He wasn't confident to do the procedure. So had to cancel the appointment with the crown doctor right after this appointment. I wasted my trip, missed my scheduled work, and my regular dentist time. I do not recommend anyone to do dental work with them. read more

If there is a 0 star, I would give. The worst dental office that I have ever been. My appointment was on Monday Aug 12 at 9am. I was told a few calls to remind about my appointments & since I was out country, I wasn't able to confirm appointment until I returned. I called after office hour to confirm appointment on Friday Aug 9. And on Monday Aug 12, the office clerk Omar called from Battleground Dentist Office left a message at 8:04am to confirm if I can make it for the appointment. I didn't check phone until 8:30am & got ready to go for my appointment at 9am. I also tried to call back Vancouver Dentist Office but no one picked up the phone. I then called Omar at Battleground Dentist Office, and he said he got someone to tell me that the appointment was cancelled & that was right before my appointment at 9am!!! I said that I did not cancel any appointment. That's ridiculous!! I drove all the way down to Vancouver Dentist Office before 9am and no one was there!!! I was told to reschedule an appointment that I DID NOT CANCEL! Total waste of my time & I WILL NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL COST! The online scheduling system is totally useless if you are rescheduling for cleaning. You are able to reschedule for dentist check up but unable to reschedule for hygienist appointment at the same time with the dentist check up. You will have to call in to check to make sure hygienist is available. Why have online system scheduling when you still have to call in to check if hygienist is available, Ineffective & waste of time! These people suck. Had 3 crowns put in 2017. Took them a month to get them put in correctly. Now 4 years later, one broke for no good reason. So here I am, waiting 3 hours to get a temporary put in. Try to charge $138 for notorious. I get high anxiety at the dentist n it ridiculous to charge this much to help calm someone's nerves. Don't recommend at all!! read more

Complete bait and switch! 3 years ago I received a call telling me that I won a FREE 2 hour "Whitening-4-Life" from a conference I attended (my name was drawn from a bowl of business cards). At the point of the call, I set up X-rays, an exam, and cleaning. I've been going to this dentist office for the past three years and decided to see if I could still collect on my winnings. When I asked, they were happy to accommodate me. They had me set up a 2 hour appointment, and when I arrived they had me sign waivers and they even gave me a print out that showed I was getting a 2 hour Whitening for free (original price $295), then they brought me back to the examination room, handed me a gift bag with 10-12 at home whitening kits, and told me to take a hike. I feel completely scammed and annoyed. I took two hours away from my work day to go to their office for 15 minutes. I didn't receive a 2-hour whitening (like my receipt says I did). This is a complete bait and switch move. I will not be returning to their office unless someone contacts me and make this right. My first visit with the Vancouver Dental Office was fair, compared to my most recent experiences with dental health maintenance organizations (HMO). I needed a broken tooth extracted, & they were pleasant enough. Although, most of the people closest to me will argue, I have a relatively small mouth with a gag reflex. I let the ladies know this, & they were accommodating. They took the pictures & X-rays, & extracted the troublesome tooth without offering nitrous oxide. Since it was a molar it should've been treated like minor surgery, but there were no aftercare instructions or offering of pain medication. I was only told to change the gauze until it stops bleeding. Nevertheless, my gums healed nicely as I am a kitchen witch & doctor myself regularly. My second appointment was rather pleasant; I was only there for a cleaning, after all. It was the basic dental office with all the pleasantries & superficial chitchat; I was in & out without a hitch. I scheduled my next tooth extraction with them, too. My third & final trip to the Vancouver Dental Office was terrible. My scheduled time was 10AM; at 10:30 I asked for an estimated wait time. I was told by the woman at the reception desk that she'd make inquiries. I hadn't seen or heard from anyone in the office by 10:40, so I called my daughter tp come wait with me. As she was coming in the door, a woman called me back. This woman took my blood pressure, & stated that it was 120/75--normal. For the average American female of my age that's a relatively low number, but for me it's very high. It's a challenge for me to hit (nonetheless break) 125/80 running as fast as I can on a treadmill. I expressed to her that it was high for me, & she again stated that it was "normal." I again stated, "No. For me, that is high. I'm having a panic attack because I'm here at the dentist." She said that I was "being ridiculous," & stormed away. Craziness ensued. I reacted out of my initial anxiety of going to the dentist & the added stress of not being heard. I was confused by all of this. I mean, really? I got loud because I felt that I was being ignored for speaking up about my own health concerns. When I was finally able to see the dentist, he said he wanted to talk to me. I tried to explain to him that if they'd let me calm down for minute that my blood pressure would be back to my normal rate, but he wasn't having any of it. He said that because my blood pressure was so low that he would NOT extract my tooth. Mind you, this tooth was broken in half & the nerve was exposed; it was an emergency. The part I don't understand & not one person in the office could explain to me why they were able to extract the first tooth without a hitch. My blood pressure was even lower during my first appointment, & the man extracted my tooth. Why was this time different? I was so mad that I just left. I requested that they email my pictures & X-rays to me, & they did. As of that email I want nothing more to do with that place. I can tell when people are paid to be nice & when folks are genuine, & this staff is sickeningly sweet with their "I'm sorry (not sorry)"-s, unless you show any signs of concern for your own health. I would NOT recommend this company. I had fillings, root canals and crowns through them (all cash out of pocket). Both root canals failed . The first root canal, the dentist missed an entire canal and couldn't understand why I was I in excruciating pain for weeks! Finally i went to an endodontist that informed me that he left an entire canal untreated, so I paid to be retreated on the same tooth .It's been two years and I have been experiencing pain on and off the entire time where the other root canal was performed. Finally I decided it was time to go directly to the endodontist and find out what was going on. I was informed that the dentist at Vancouver Dentist Office likely did not clean deep enough into the canal which has created an infection and bone loss. I am now faced with a $2800 apicoectomy surgery! I contacted The vancouver dentist office to request a refund for what I had paid on the failed root canal and was told this is not something they will do. You would think after I have spent thousands of dollars at their office and gone through the worst pain of my life due to their negligence that a refund would be the very least they would offer. I was offered absolutely nothing, not even an apology. More than anything, I am upset that I trusted this company with my teeth. I have spent thousands of dollars with this office. The dentists keep leaving and there is no one to stand behind their work. On the third dentist now and the fifth or sixth procedure for this tooth. They now want me to pay to go see a specialist because they keep screwing my tooth up and don't know how to fix it! I was very specific that I didn't want several different dentist working over each other's work. They assured me that would not happen. Well guess what, it has. I had 2 root canals done at this dentist office. Afterwards, my one tooth had a lot of pain for weeks afterward. This was several years ago. I recently went to another dentist for a check up. He told me that the dentist that did my root canal had done a bad job - he called it a failed root canal. My other root canal was bad too. They took x-rays and there was dark areas above my two teeth which he was very concerned about. He referred me to an endodontist. My endodontist said I would have to have both teeth pulled which also means that I need implants. I am in my early 20's and shouldn't have had this happen. I spent over $3,000 at the Vancouver Dentist. I would NOT recommend this dentist to anyone! read more

I have had horrible experiences with dental offices. When I walked into this office I was shaking and scared. The dentist came to the lobby and brought me back. He even took the time in his office to go over my concerns and questions. The tech that did my x-rays was careful and gentle to the touch. The office gals were more than exceptional in explaining my benefits and helping me with a payment plan. The hygienist was AMAZING!! never felt so comfortable.. the dentist spoke with me and when over my care and my plan before I left. I will never see another dental office again!!! Edit: the dentist that I originally saw and wrote this review for moved away without notice. The last time I came in, I expected to see him but they told me he wasn't there any longer. So then suddenly there was a new dentist working on my mouth, who felt like a stranger. I am disappointed that the old Dr. isn't there because he made me feel so at ease. It doesn't appear the old hygienist is there anymore either. I feel very strongly that I have to trust which ever dentist I am going to see and I have to say that trust just isn't there with the new staff. read more

This is NOT the dentist from your nightmares! I came here for a cleaning last year and the visit was much more personal and friendly than I could've expected. ~My experience~ Walking in, you're greeted by an energetic staff actually doing work (unlike a lot dentist receptionists playing on phones). After getting signed in (electronically) you get your x-rays. Following that is a sit and talk with the dentist on a dental and personal level. The expectation of the dentist is to actually have a personal connection to their patient. This makes the entire visit more personal. Much better than the usual: walking in, getting drilled, and crying out. After my exam from the dentist, I had received the cleaning from the hygienist. Got to try out this cool laser thingy on my gum line. Then I was offered to do fluoride (not covered by my insurance) and declined. Thankfully, they are charitable and care about my teeth and it was given with no charge. I really appreciate that kindness and find this to be much more than the usual dentist who is out for your money. Leaving fresh I now awaited for my next cleaning. Scheduling an appointment six months ahead can be an easy to forget. Luckily the staff is on the ball and called me before to confirm the appointment this week. This follow up was much needed as I had to push back a week and that worked great! I needed a crown. A dentist did not do the mold correly so I went to the office for a new mold. It should have been simple however...it turned into a painful nightmare...that is not over...and the need for more and more and more procedures. While preparing the tooth for the crown, the dentist exposed a nerve, causing the need for an emergency root canal (after hours during on a holiday weekend), for which I was not numbed correctly for a portion of and I was in extreme pain. He cracked my molar during the procedure which led to the need for an extraction!! Then he cracked the crown on a different molar creating the need for that tooth to get an other crown! Now I have a hole in my mouth and the bone is exposed because the stitches came out. When I told the dentist, he said it would close up on its own, but it has not. They are saying I need to pay for an implant which I need because of their mistakes ! During my visits, I experienced excruciating pain due to the ineffective/improper administration of Novocain (or whatever meds you use for numbing) by the dentist during two of the procedures. However I was completely numbed did not experience any pain at my last visit when a different clinician administered only one dose of Novocain, so I am left to concluded my pain from the other visit was due to the method or dose being administered by the dentist. . My experiences has been hellishly painful and led to the need for more and more procedures. I asked they pay for the implant that is needed as a direct result of their doing and I have not hear back. read more

Being new to the area and not knowing many people I didn't know where to go. So after checking with my insurance to see who accepted my insurance I took a chance and called Vancouver Dental Office. Rhonda the benefit coordinator is a bundle of energy and beyond friendly. You feel relaxed the minute you walk through the door. The dental assistant and hygienist were both so patient and friendly it was the best dental visit I have ever had in my life. They explained everything to me and worked together as a seamless team to make sure my experience was completely painless. Honestly the best dental office I have ever been to in my life. read more

Like many people, I'm not one who likes going to the dentist and have high anxiety, but this office is amazing! Their office doesn't even feel like a dentist office and I felt right at home. Dr. Kim is very professional and his staff are exceptional! Upon initial consultation, we discussed my needs and he came up with a great dental plan for me. After taking a look at my mouth, he told me exactly what was needed. I was originally looking to have a filling done, but he suggested that a crown would be more cost effective in the long run, because when your teeth have several surfaces that need work, a filling only lasts so long and will end up costing more later. I already knew the dental assistant who's awesome, and she recommended me to their office. I had been paying too much for out of network dental work. I absolutely hate the dentist so I can't believe I'm actually writing a review for a dental office- but they absolutely deserve it. I was first seen by Dr. Kasimi about a year ago and was having trouble with a back molar that had a cap from childhood on it. They talked me through all my options and made each option financially available to me through in house payment plans that didn't charge any interest. As a working student this literally saved me- I wouldn't have been able to afford the dental work I needed even with my parents insurance. I recently went back to them to get my wisdom teeth taken out- something I was told I needed to do years ago but put off because I was scared to go under anesthesia and didn't want to have a long recovery process. I finally decided to get my wisdom teeth taken out because I've been experience significant jaw pain from impacted wisdom teeth. They talked me through all my options again and gave me the choice of going under anesthesia or not. I ended up choosing to go under because I needed all four taken out. They again set up a payment plan in house I could pay on each month so it wasn't a massive burden to pay the rest of my bill after my insurance covered the procedure. The day of my procedure I was extremely nervous, and the two women at the front desk made me so much less anxious and talked me through all the steps and answered every question I had. Oddly enough, I am really scared of the dental X-Ray machines because of how close they are to your head, but the dental assistant that took the Xrays was so calm and helpful and could tell I was anxious so she talked through things more in depth. When I got back to the procedure room they talked me through everything again, hooked me up to the heart monitor and helped me slow my breathing. They didn't do anything without explaining it first and got my IV on the first try, it was almost painless. The surgical assistant could tell I was cold and instead of gross crunchy hospital blankets he gave me a big warm plush blanket and it absolutely made a difference! Before I knew it the oral surgeon was there and I went under- it was painless and quick. The oral surgeon called me at home that night and made sure I understood all my medications and what I could and couldn't eat. On post-op day 3 I got a little worried one side of my face was more swollen and I called the office to see if it was something I should be worried about. They said just to come in and check with the doctor to be on the safe side. I was in the dentist's chair 20 min later and assured everything was healing normally. Dr. Ganji was SO nice, I feel like any other doctor would have been annoyed someone was being a hypochondriac and coming in for swelling after wisdom teeth removal. He was happy to take a look at my incisions and again reassured me everything was healing correctly and talked me through extra steps I could take to ease the swelling. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the staff. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and everyone! read more
