I have religiously gone to the dentist since my 20's, so I desperately needed a cleaning. I went to gentle dental when I had insurance (last year mind you) and they were not thorough at all (I'll review them on their business). I was greeted the moment I walked into this office, everyone from reception, to dental assistant to dentist was incredibly kind, thorough, patient and easy going. I wish I had found this place when I had insurance, the care they provide is exactly what you would hope for.

BEWARE! Predatory Billing Practices…read more I want to start by saying that my complaint is NOT about the dentists or their abilities. The dentists and dental assistants are fantastic. My complaint is entirely with this office's billing practices. I have UHC HMO insurance. This provider was the only one in the area that took our insurance so we did not have other options. I know this insurance isn't the best, and this provider appears to take advantage of that. With an HMO, the provider is under contract to charge only the contracted amount for covered services. As the patient, I should not be charged more than the amount my insurance allows. I went in for a root canal and crown, and the price I was quoted was almost $900 more than the contracted amount I should have been charged. When I questioned the cost, the front desk told me, "UHC is awful and they have outdated copay amounts in their system for services most dental offices no longer offer" I then asked if there was a less expensive crown option, and I was told, "No, this is the only type of crown dental offices do now. That's what I mean. They're outdated." As a patient I have no way to know what services they provide or dont and can only take the staffs word for it. Based on those statements, I proceeded with treatment under the impression that it was my only option and signed the treatment plan. I paid a $700 down payment and enrolled in automatic monthly payments. I pushed back through my employer and contacted UHC. UHC told me that what the provider did is called balance billing and that it is not allowed, so they opened a formal complaint. During the investigation, every one of my monthly payments was made. There was one that hit right when I had a fraud charge so I logged in and made a manual payment in their system. Despite that, I was called almost daily by the billing department and threatened with collections every single month even after that one hiccup. outside of that one month, all recurring charges went through. I called the office and was told to send an email. I sent my original email plus three follow up emails and never received a response. Later, I was told I should have called instead. When I explained that I had called and was specifically instructed to email, I was told they were too busy to respond and that I should have called again after emailing (which they never advised me to do prior). It was incredibly unprofessional. I STILL have not received a response, and that was over two months ago and this is the SECOND time I was told someone from Regional would call me and never did. I question if their regional even exists. After months of back and forth, the UHC representative handling my case, who was very thorough and put a lot of effort into helping me, told me the provider claimed they absolutely do offer other crown options and that I "voluntarily" chose the more expensive one despite being provided other options. That is the complete opposite of what I was told before treatment. Because it became my word against the front desk staff's, UHC said there was nothing more they could do. As you can imagine I am furious. The following day, my husband took our kids in and was told a filling would cost $150. Knowing what had happened with my treatment, he questioned the charge. The same front desk employee told him it was not an upgraded service and was simply the only type of filling they offer. This was the EXACT SAME explanation I was given regarding the crowns so we did NOT proceed with treatment. Luckily we have left the state and live somewhere where more providers take our insurance so we are no longer forced to go here. What was even sadder was seeing them set up a similar payment plan for an elderly woman because her "HMO didn't cover much." I know I am not the only person they are doing this to. They will surely respond to this asking me to call their office which I obviously wont do. I want no other communications with this office unless its in writing with regional.

I must have said 5x I wanted to come in for a cleaning and I was completely unwilling to do a "meet and greet exam" and then have to come back another day for a cleaning .who has time for that??? The day before my cleaning I call to confirm and they tell me oh no. No cleaning for me, I have to do an exam first. After I explain this is opposite of what I've been told I tell them cancel my appointment I'm not coming in for an exam and X-rays when I had them done less than a month ago already. They call me later in the day saying now they can do both at the same time if I'll give them another chance. Strange how this wasn't communicated prior. I was told multiple times it's 2 appointments. They wanted me to come in at a new time, which I could not accommodate. I also imagine most people can't be expected to change their appointment time with roughly 18 hours notice. Do they not have awareness people have children and jobs? They seems apologetic and nice but i gave up and am going back to my old dentist who I don't care for but I don't want to wait another month for a cleaning.

Then my adult daughter was told it was time to get her wisdom teeth out even though they were not bothering her. Dr. Aldridge performed the surgery without giving her the option to seek care with a specialist. It went completely sideways and the staff did nothing to help until it was too late. My daughter had a major infection and had to have additional procedures under general anesthesia with a specialist. The staff lacked experience and empathy. Seek a specialist whenever doing major dental surgery. Needless to say we are looking for a new dentist.

That itself should've been a red flag. I assumed the dentist Emily Young had my best interest. I should've know at her lack of communication with me that she didn't. I told her I was aware of my gum disease and I know it's gotten worse. I expressed my concerns and let her know I wanted to get pregnant but was hesitant as I know my gum health affects the whole body. I was asked if I cared what my teeth looked like and I said no. I was then told that if I didn't care about cosmetic look that it should be "fine." As long as I kept up with my cleanings. I have deep pockets but they could clean them there. Unfortunately I was scheduled months out. Not a priority even though it progresses daily... I had gum detachment within two months of being seen here. While I was waiting for my scheduled cleaning. I was then told by another dentist how deep my pockets really are, referred to a specialist and told by specialist I could not get pregnant unless I wanted to put my life and child's at risk. They have dropped some coverage with certain insurance companies, but luckily ours wasn't one of them. They have also had a lot of dental hygienist turnover the last couple of years, but they seem to have a full staff again currently. That's been tough for us because we had been spoiled with having the same hygienist for years and got to know them, which added extra comfort to an otherwise stressful experience. I've never enjoyed going to the dentist, but seeing a familiar face had helped ease my anxiety. We love the relaxing spa vibes in this office. It feels clean and comfortable, but not overly clinical like some dentist offices. They offer beverages in the waiting room, which also has a couch and fireplace, making for a cozy environment. We also appreciate that they can make a crown while you wait and watch a Netflix movie. It's nice not have to wait a week for a third party to make the crown and leave the dentist office with a temporary. The in-house crowns we're not something we've experienced before, so that's a huge plus! Overall this is an exceptional dentist office. They have a nice relaxing environment and have the capabilities of performing most dental services in-house. We would highly recommend.

This place is absolutely amazing!!!…read more I have had a lot of dental work done due to having weak teeth my whole life. This was my first time in the office. I had a broken tooth. They fit me in within 4 days. Could've been 1 but my schedule didn't allow. The office is beautiful and comfortable. The staff is so welcoming and kind. Dr Thomas is absolutely wonderful. He was so gentle kind and compassionate. They were so transparent. Laid out several different options for treatment plans. They were not pushy at all. Allowed me to make my decision and then were able to immediately do the treatment. On top of all that they have such reasonable and affordable pricing. Even as a cash pay customer it would've came in at a 1/3 the cost of a previous quote. I can't believe I was able to get my extraction done the same day too!

Crown made on site and fit perfectly with no adjustments needed. Also, due to placement of pain meds, face was not numb for 4 or 5 hours afterward. In the words of a famous actor, "I'll be back"!
