Really happy to know Alhambra Valley Bowl is back and better than it was before! I'm so thankful for the early bird specials on Sundays starting at 9am-12pm making bowling one of the few affordable things to do. It was here where I introduced bowling to my mom and we come back every year to bowl as a family. When we arrived, it was only a 10 min wait and staff were really nice to squeeze us in since it was pretty a packed house at 10 am! Things were nicely renovated and the AC was a comfortable cool to escape the heat. Snack bar was open but we didn't get anything. I do miss the foozeball table, air hockey, and the few arcade games that lined the hallway at the prior establishment. Despite the gutterballs, we all had a great time and thank you for keeping this place alive and going. We'll certainly be back again! read more

TLDR: Improved technology, more modern look, still affordable I had been meaning to check out this newly reopened bowling alley for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got to go! I'm not sure if it's being run by the same owner or if someone else took over, but the building looks much more modern now. It's a little bittersweet to see all the nostalgic pieces of my childhood gone, but it's hard to deny that it's for the best. Prices were still pretty affordable. The staff member let us know that there's a cheaper deal on weekdays, which is pretty normal for bowling alleys. There is clearly a lot more seating on the top floor. The addition of all the tables is really nice. I also noticed that they removed the extra TVs that used to either play ads or sports and stuff. They also got rid of all the pool tables that I never saw anyone use. The screens and control panels are all updated to this modern design too. Something else that was interesting was how the old bowling ball racks were moved to the side of the building to make room for bag hooks behind the people bowling. Although it's a good idea, it's kind of hard to watch your belongings when they're behind you like that, so it leaves your stuff kind of open for stealing. It's also easier to grab the bowling ball you need though because they're all in one place instead of spread across the whole building. The only thing that I kind of hate is the seating down by the alley. There's actually less seating down there with these standalone dining table sets replacing the old benches. Since our party arrived when there were many other people there, we only had one side of the lane while strangers were on the other side. It's just a little awkward to sit at a dining table with strangers like that. Not to mention, the seating arrangement left a lot of people standing and kind of made it hard to communicate with each other. In terms of bowling mechanics, I think the amount of time it takes for the bowling ball to return has been reduced significantly. I'm so glad we don't have to wait ages for the ball to return for the second throw! The machine also didn't seem to experience incorrect racking, which used to happen all the time here. Sadly, the screen does not tell you the mph your throw was at anymore. I always thought that was a very helpful feature, so it's a shame to see it go. Lastly, the floors seemed well cleaned and waxed. I didn't have to powder my shoes and felt like my bowling ball glided pretty smoothly down the alleyway. Overall, I think this bowling alley is nice. This is the newly updating bowling alley that revamped. It looks very new and modern. Upon arrival, customer service is fantastic. The gentleman explained to us the pricing for bowling and it's reasonably priced considering that other places cost a bit more. Restrooms are well kept when I had gone. We all came here for an afternoon fun bowling. So happy that we got college student discounts and senior discounts. The lanes are nice and clean and we had two rounds of game. We all had fun and enjoyed it. They also have weekday special at $2 a game. For Sunday, it's $5 per game, college students at $4 and senior at $3. Love the service. We wanted to take the kiddos out for a night of family bowling and decided to come here. We were hoping to be able to order something to eat, and when we got there saw they only had a very limited stocked snack bar, that was closed. It was about $70 for shoe rental and 2 games each for 4 people. The lanes seemed to not be properly conditioned, and somehow the points were off completely on one lane and the pins kept randomly resetting in the middle of our turns. We waited until we saw some staff to show them it was messing up, and asked to talk to the manager. He explained the equipment was older and that they had remodeled but there's still a few things that need fixing. He offered us 2 free games to come back at a later date to make up for it. The only other issue I had was they turned on all the lights and started cleaning and closing down at 11:20pm, and I didn't close until 12:00am and it kinda killed the chill vibes/atmosphere. I think we'll def go back and give it a try and least one more time. But hoping they expand their snacks beyond hot dogs, nachos, and candy. read more

Alhambra Valley Bowl (AVB) has RE-OPENED after a few years of being on hiatus! It is under new management. Great to have you back AVB!! They are located in a small plaza. Free parking is available. However, the owner of the plaza should repave the parking lot in the back. It has a lot of uneven concrete. Newly renovated inside space feels like home... a good old cozy bowling alley with the essentials. I love the OG look. Please keep in mind they are still doing some renovations. Pins are not on strings which is how they should be. Love the OG pin style. Hope they keep it this way. Restrooms were clean and maintained. They have a small snack area and a couple klaws games. Merch are available for purchase. I bought their unisex shirt in large size (please note shirt may not shrink). It has a dragon on it with a fun saying... AVB... where the dragons roll! Too cute!! My Mom, my brothers + family, my daughters, and I came here on a Saturday afternoon to have a family bowling event. My Mom didn't bowl, but the rest of us did. There were 10 of us. Games were $5 per game. Shoe rental was $5 per shoe. Very reasonable prices. Prices may vary depending on day and time. They also have hourly rates. We went with the per game option because we wanted to take our time and bowl our best games without having to rush. Within two hours, we got to bowl 2 games per person totaling 20 games with 6 shoe rentals. Four of us had our own bowling shoes. Anyway, pretty good for $130. We had so much fun bowling. For the very first time, in an extremely long time, this bowling alley has some life to it. It is being renamed the Alhambra Valley bowling center instead of ABC bowl. This bowling alley is actually owned by bowlers, not just people who thought they would learn how to run a business. That is the one thing that really sets them apart from other bowling centers, being owned by people who are bowlers and have participated in leagues far beyond your years of recreational bowling, They know what it takes to keep a bowling alley up to par and they also understand the conditions of lanes and other equipment that need to be maintained in order for this to work as a work oiled machine. One of the owners, even, is an amateur professional Bowler. Currently the bowling alley is waiting for the validity of their already approved liquor license to take effect. So, for now, they sell non-alcoholic drinks and other small munchies. These lanes, already, have come a long way from what they had been years ago. Games today are a whopping $0.88 each (from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm) but to keep things fair, there's a limit of 3 games per lane. When we visited around noon there was a tremendous waiting list. No matter. It was great to see so much life in there!! The restrooms were well maintained and clean, no complaints there. Parking is usually found w/o problems but today because of the grand opening, you had to kinda scour the lot, allllllllll the way around the building til one opened up. After the 3rd lap or so we got parking. Sweet! There are a few arcade gyms here located at the entrance for those especially little ones. The desk is one by a bunch of very friendly individuals. This is definitely a family friendly place. This feels like a very well established, friendly, kind of down home neighborhood bowling alley. The place can be very busy on Tuesday and Wednesday nights plus the weekend warrior crowd showing up on Friday and Saturdays. My friend and I went on Sunday after 7pm and there were plenty of lanes open. If you are over 50 ask for a senior discount which is 3 bucks per game per person. NOPE. I should have known from the first few communications that it was going to be a disaster. On their website it says you can email to do reservations but they do not respond not just in timely manner but at all. I sent them a deposit via VENMO and asked them to confirm my reservation but they never did. DAY of, when my party tried to pay for the rest of the cost, they told us that it was all paid for so they all left. It was for a friend's 40th birthday and it was pretty chaotic already so when multiple people went to ask about the bill and being told it was all paid, they all left. Later that night I got an email saying we owe them money. Granted I don't know who bowled or anything. I merely made the reservations and they said I needed to pay them the rest of the balance and they only take VENMO OR ZELLE. WHAT? So not only did I have to try to contact everyone from the party to see what's going on but somehow collect from people that I dont even talk to. They never apologized for the inconvenience or even took accountability for their own staff's mistakes. I asked several people what happened, they all said the same thing. "They told us it was all paid for" SEVERAL days later, MARK, I'm going to assume management said their staff got confused, it was indeed their error (FINALLY SOME ACCOUNTABLILTY) and thought we were part of the previous party so told our party it was all paid out but that we still owe them money. STILL no apology or anything. It so upsetting to get an email from their management and for him to not even apologize for their own staff's incompetence. I ended up venmoing them because I don't believe in being that type of person that would walk out without paying for a service although that was what they insinuated on their first email saying we left without paying. WHEN IN REALITY, their staff told several people in our party it was all paid for so they left. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE just on service alone. They renovated but it still looks the same from 20 years ago. We only went here because it's as convienent for the birthday boy and we all thought it would be fun since they reopened and we all use to come here during our HS days. WRONG. They didn't have any hot food and only had overpriced bagged chips. The nachos I got was a micowaved cheese canister and small bag of tortilla chips; even the theaters do it better hahaha. Canned sodas. They told me in the email they didn't have their alcohol license so I assumed they would offer food/ everything else but NOPE. If i knew it would be this bad we would have went to the bowling alley on lower Azusa or ANYWHERE else. Our party ended up leaving after 1 hour even thought we had it booked for two. I enjoy local community spots with a history that offer intimate experiences, so I was happy to see that Alhambra Valley Bowl has reopened. The remodel did it well and prices are very affordable for families, especially during their early bird happy hours. A great place for families, friends, and leagues to share some fun competition. Staff are very friendly and helpful. AVB is clean, organized, equipment is taken care of, and they have many special event nights. Ambiance was positive and background music was nice. I'm sure they are still working on some things, but for now some snacks and refreshments are available for purchase, parking is free and they have multiple lanes with ball choices. Came on opening day and it was PACKED. I've been going here since over 10+ years ago and have seen it change ownership overtime. Met one of the new owners and he seemed great, was patient and honored everyone through the opening day promo they were having. There were plenty of chairs and tables to use, TV designs seem new, lanes are refreshed though the floors feel the same, but we had a lot of fun. We were able to bring food in as well. We loved coming here. The my recently did some renovations and just reopened up. So glad we came in. Even on a busy Friday night we had no issues getting a lane and having a great time. The staff was super helpful when I came in with our 4 year old. And helped bringing over the ramp for him. I had a bunch of questions with setting up our lane but they helped with all of that. Nice and clean. Connected to the next door restaurant. Close to raising canes and in a plaza with lots of parking. It can smell like cigarettes from all the other restaurants next door, but I guess that can be expected with bowling alleys. They have a small concession area. I would suggest bringing a full water bottle since they don't have a water fountain, although you can buy one at the concessions. read more

My friend told me that Alhambra bowling was coming back, and finally, it's here. I got to experience what it was like being around my friend's league players, and I have to say, bowlers are some of the coolest and chillest people. Everyone is so helpful and positive, and during tough times, this has definitely been really uplifting. After this great experience, I got a bowling starter kit and purchased the Bronze monthly package at Alhambra Bowling, which gives me 30 games per month for $50. That's a lot of bowling for a starter like me, and I'm lucky to have so many games for practice and fun. The prices are great, Sunday morning bowling is super cheap. I would recommend Alhambra Valley Bowl to anyone whether you're just want to do regular bowling or wanting to take it to the next level. Their All day prices are super cheap compared to other places I've seen games up to 9 dollars a pop. Here their rates are 5 dollars all around and the packages are even better. It's been years since golden mile bowling and I was super excited to finally come back to this place especially with their affordable pricing. Sunday special is still just as good as the years back then and the lanes are just as good as you would find at any other Alley. I hope this place can stay bustling and maintain that affordability I've been looking for for years. If there is ever one place I recommend especially for some real lanes unlike places like bowlero it is definitely going to be this alley. First time bowling here. We saw that it was being refinished and was anxious to see what was done. The employees were all very nice. The bowling lanes were very nice, though not any oil. The approach was ok, was in need of some cleaning though. The scoring system was very nice and updated. Wish it would show the ball speed. The only bad thing we saw/felt was the common area floor was terrible. It looked like they laid new floor but it was bubbled everywhere, especially by the entrance door. I mean a huge 3 ft bubble under the flooring. It also seemed like they did not even out the floor before laying the laminate. Word is out, and the community is ecstatic AVB is now open. Customer service has been excellent, AVB has real wood and actual returns, no strings for the pins, so that's a definite plus. One funny mention, I was there Sunday to bowl during their early bird special, and despite how busy they were one of the owners, Roberta was very accommodating and made sure everything was good. What's funny, is the party next to me kept complaining about frames and wanting a refund. The lady was very rude, but the owner handled her with grace, because I probably wouldn't have considering how rude this lady was. It's unfortunate when some people post fake reviews just to intentionally hurt a local business. All said, all the times I've visited have been nothing but 5 stars. read more

This was my very first time bowling at Alhambra Valley Bowl and I really like the facility. I had great fun with friends despite having to reset the pins every so often because the first frame occasionally would not set up with all of the pins. I paid for five games and tour game for the lane shut down completely and was in operable, the first time this happened it was on the left lane (we were bowling onto lanes) and the second time it happened we asked for assistance and one of the owners"Roberta" came down to assist. This is when the experience turned south for me. Her attitude was very evident and unacceptable. I had not spoken to her, but my friends explained what happened and when my boyfriend said something to her, she just walked away without a word. So overall, I thought it was a great place to bowl, but if you have technical difficulties, and Roberta is there... Good luck with that!!! read more
