I wanted to like this place. Placed an order online and arrived 45 minutes later. It was not busy at all and the one guy working had not started my order. Now the food. I ordered the chicken doner combo.... was not what i was expecting. Maybe I misread it but pictured it being the spinning chicken sliced off the rotisserie. Instead they chopped some pita as the bed.. then pulled chicken out of a metal container that was wet and dripping and put it on the pita and soggy. it looked gross on preparation but i prepaid so i decided to try it. Soooo... I am sad to leave a 3* as no doubt the food is probably good. The problem is that you ruin the flavor of everything when all of the salads are piled on top of each other. I can't tell the tabouli from three bean or anything else. Unfortunately it's one of my favorites. I was looking forward to it, by the way. Everything is mixed together, except for fruit and hummus. The true flavor was masked by the heaping serving of tzatziki (?). The combination wasn't bad, but I would have asked for the sauce on the side if I knew it was a part of the dish. An amazing hole-in-the-wall place with extraordinary vegetarian and veggie options. The $14 Mediterranean platter is absolutely massive. It comes with a pita, dolma, falafel, bean salad, tabouli, greens salad, ezme (a bell pepper / tomatoey sauce), hummus, baba ghanoush, and feta pasta salad. It is so big that 3 people could split it as a MEAL. Almost everything tasted yummy and flavorful and healthy. I wasn't a fan of the pasta salad but otherwise loved the humungous portions and variety of options. I would absolutely come back here again. The baklava (doesn't seem made in store) was very soggy and syrupy so would skip. The man at the counter was very kind and generous. Seating is in another room with comfortable pillows and benches. I was in Atlanta for a couple days, staying near Little Five Points. Friday night I took a trip to the Mediterranean from Ali Baba. I picked up a large, delicious bowl of perfectly spiced and marinated lamb, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and feta in yellow rice from the restaurant. Huge pools of Babaganush and hummus were on the side to drop the lamb in. Combined, this was such a special, local dinner treat! And definitely large enough portions of deliciousness for at least two people! If you're local to Atlanta, this place should be on your order list on at least a monthly basis. read more

Killer little dive with challenging parking but the Falafel is LEGIT. Crispy outer shell and soft on the inside with nice mild leaning spices inside. The Hummus is coarse ground with intermittent whole chickpeas within. One of my fave Hummus so far in ATL. The lamb Gyros were delicious and fresh, not dry. Make no mistake, this is a dive, and you are served on Styrofoam plates with plastic ware, but the Food is the BOMB. Great for a quick dip for grub when you want it fast and ON POINT. Ive had many a gyro but none as great as Ali Baba. The Ali Baba Gyro is bursting with the best gyro meat I have ever had. From the tzatziki to the pita to the hot sauce it was all great. There are not many neighborhoods better than Five Points in Atlanta and this is one of its gems. read more

We came here for lunch today and it was not very crowded at all. There was a hand written note on the door asking anyone who enters to wear a mask. There was one employee and he was doing it all. Cooking, cleaning, ringing you up. He was so friendly. During the time we were there, they had a few to-go orders and any other party got in line behind us. The menu is on the main board and they have certain items they make, but not everyday, that are in the glass display. You have to look and they are labeled. One such example were dolmades, which we got. I also got the lamb gyro combo, which included a side and soda from the fountain machine. Water cups are also next to the machine. We ate in the adjacent room, which was cozy and eclectically decorated. It was a good, quick meal! read more

Delicious, authentic Mediterranean food and awesome service!! The owner was generous enough to talk about his life and how he got into cooking Mediterranean food. I mentioned that I had been over to their downtown location on so many occasions and he gave us a complimentary baklava and thanked us for our business. I'm a Greek-American, and in Mediterranean restaurants in Greece and The States, places that serve wraps usually also serve French fries. I saw "combo" on the menu and asked if I could have a falafel wrap with fries, and instead of just telling me that they don't serve fries, the lady behind the counter shouted at me like I'm new to restaurants in general, "WE SERVE MEDI-TERR-AN-EAN FOOD. HEAL-THY FOOD." After I said that I'd think about it because I was craving fries--and might return after checking the menu next door--I stepped out, and she continued talking (loudly, of course) about how ridiculous my question was. The guy working was alone and he was taking orders, running around, being very kind and efficient AND making the best wraps I've ever seen. 2. The food was INCREDIBLE. This place is delicious! I love it. The food is awesome for fast greek/ turkish food. I love spanakopita and falafel and theirs is GREAT! The gyro is abundant, the baba ghanoush and hummus is always super fresh. The tzatziki and lemon greek dressing is perfect. The only thing that would deter future diners would be that is looks like it needs a good power washing and redecorating in the dining room. Otherwise you wont be disappointed. Came in they spoke, but then was trying to rush me to order when I'm looking at the menu. then when I asked a simple question of if any of the dinner platters come with rice because the menu on the wall did not state what came with it outside of the meat. Lady jumped up with attitude and pointing at a rice bowl sign and speaking to me as if I was a child. I was so glad to have taken a chance on Ali Baba when I ordered delivery recently, as I found it to be some of the tastiest Middle Eastern fare in Atlanta for an incredible value. I have passed by their unassuming storefront in Little 5, and it had always piqued my curiosity as a lover of all things Mediterranean. I decided on two of their vegetarian sampler meals, hoping that they would be substantial enough that I could eat on them all weekend. I was absolutely blown away at what showed up at my door. Whereas sometimes Mediterranean fare can be too light or dainty, Ali Baba does it the old-fashioned way, with big scoops of everything all assembled together in a styrofoam clamshell, making for a massive meal that almost felt like the Middle Eastern version of a light night guilty pleasure. The sampler contained all of the classics- hummus, baba ghanoush, Turkish tomato dip, tabbouleh, dolma, and falafel- coupled with some old school additions, like a humble green salad and a heaping scoop of creamy pasta salad, all paired with pita and tzatziki. Two of these reasonably priced platters literally lasted me for days, and everything was delicious, with the falafel being particularly extraordinary. Gyros sandwich with the red sauce is AMAZING! I got extra red sauce bc I poured it all over. They are more of a carry out place. They don't really have a dine-in area but they give you the option of sitting in the hookah area next door even if you don't get the hookah stuff. The tables are wobbly and really low so it's hard to eat on them. It's def not fancy and you wouldn't want to bring your family here to dine-in. The samosas are overpriced. This is a local take away spot. The owner is very sweet and kind. He was welcoming and even stayed open later for us. This place has good portion sizes and has plenty of options for vegatarians. The hookah was enjoyable. The Interior decor reminds me of a road side hookah lounge from the middle East or Africa. FYI The hookah is not a Maya or Kalifha high end hookah. read more
