My friend an I went here in search of a hookah. It was really cold out and it was nice to chill out with a nice hookah. We sat in the dining area which was closed off from the elements but still a little chilly. We got the samosas and baklava, both were really good and everyone was very nice. The place can definitely use some couches in the dining area for the hookah smokers and maybe some hot beverages like tea and coffee. The food at this joint is wack. I ordered a falafel wrap and a plate of tabouli. The falafel are pre made and sitting in a case. It is not freshly made. The tabouli doesn't even taste authentic. How do you fvck up tabouli? Pass on this spot much better choices all over the city. read more

After reading all of the positive reviews on Ali Baba, I was really looking forward to checking it out, but I ended up being pretty disappointed. The falafel was pretty mediocre compared to other places in the area. The falafel itself was cold. the texture was fairly mushy, and it didn't have much in the way of distinct flavors or spicing. Also the veggies and pita bread as part of the sandwich didn't seem particularly fresh, and my side of tabouleh tasted like it had been sitting out for quite a while. On the positive side, the employees were really friendly, the hookah bar space seemed cool, and the prices seem fair. I don't know, maybe I caught them on a bad day, but given the other Turkish/Mediterranean options in the metro area that I know I like, I don't know that I'll be back here. read more

I'm surprised there aren't any more reviews on this place. The food is really good and the staff is typically friendly. I usually just pick up a gyro salad to go. I don't love the red sauce and prefer just tzatziki and hot sauces. Quick, cheap lunch. read more

Yummy Delicious! There isn't really anything more I can say that hasn't been said. My boyfriend had eaten here awhile back and we were actually at another restaurant (again) and he was telling me about this place and I said "yes!" Oh man. The gyro was good, but my tabouli salad was brown lettuce and brown mint and hardly anything else. The spanikopita was inedible, and the samosas were soggy and greasy. I'm kind of in awe that I spent 43.00 on this. read more

When I found Albi Baba and this entire section of Atlanta, I was happy. Having toured Atlanta for a few days, I was worried that this city didn't offer Bohemian venues. Thankfully, I was wrong. Went there to taste of Turkish food. I am from Greece so i love gyros I was so excited cus of friends recommended a lot then what a disappointing was ordering my food but what a dushback :Damn the guy called himself owner fayz whatever , giving samples me and my girlfriend with his hands without gloves. it was my first failure, discusting. I am so carefull with hygiene. i dont know if the owner is like this i dont wanna think about the people who works there. then I ordered gyros it wasnt bad. i enjoyed my meal with my girlfriend. then the guy owner bought us Turkish coffee and baklava. then he stand in front of us keep talking..I mean it was my second failure. its Sunday morning i just went out to have meal with my girl. so dont bother us. these people are weird so i can say gyros are good but order take out. i dont like ambiance in the rest.... Ali Babas...So many times during my college studies at Georgia State did I decide to eat here. I ate here probably four times a week!! I even elected to go here for a gyro wrap on my birthday. So that alone should tell you that I absolutely love this place. Ofcourse gyros are my favorite food, so its possible I'm biased. However I know where to get gyros...anywhere that I am in Atlanta/metro Atlanta. Ali Babas by far has the best gyros. I always get a gyro or a super gyro, which is the typical doner wrap plus feta cheese and a LOT more meat. Its easily two meals contained inside one super soft and fresh flat bread wrapper. They have a combo special where you basically get your drink for free when you add a side. Their "pasta salad" is out of this world good (or at least out of the country good, seeing as its a very authentic Turkish restaurant). The Baklava is also bery sweet, very moist, very flaky and very good. Their dining area is interesting to say the least. I happen to love it. Short tables, and rugs on all the walls, hookah smoking is allowed and usually one or three of the employees (all Turkish), are smoking whenever I come in. They have sort of club/techno Turkish stuff playing in the background. Its not loud or strange enough to be bothersome, but I would imagine your average person would probably not care for it. I also enjoy the music, but I have eclectic taste when comes to listening. Just go and try the gyro wrap and then you'll see why I can't stop coming back. You definately get your moneys worth, quality and portion wise. (For the food I give it 5 stars. Dining experience would probably be 3 stars. So to be fair I'll give it 4.) read more

Very accessible down-to-earth falafel joint located next to Java Lords. I got a falafel wrap from them and their falafel was moist and well made. The yogurt and hot sauce combined with fresh vegetables really brought the whole sandwich to a good pedestal. I ordered a delivery order from them and there was a long black hair in my pasta salad. It was thread through out the entire thing so, I didn't want to eat it. I called and they were super rude and said they could only give me a combo if I came in not a refund. A lady named JoJo then called back and left me a long voicemail saying I didn't order "lentil soup" and I called back saying "no, there was a hair in my food" not "I ordered lentil soup". boo-hiss! :( I'd been craving hookah for a while and was really looking forward to trying this place as I adore the coffee shop next door, JavaLords. We arrived a little before 9:00pm and the door was locked (sign says they close at 9:30 pm). We knocked and the person who came to the door said they were closed. Since there were other people still inside we were able to talk our way in but he was incredibly rude and slow. I promptly ordered and paid ($15 for one apple coal). It took him at least 10 minutes to bring us the hookah. He warned us that we'd be promptly kicked out at 9:30 and he wasn't kidding. He pretty much sat and stared at us (and another group) until then. I even offered to purchase the hookah (since they sell them) if we'd be allowed to finish up but he wasn't budging. They have a sign that claims they serve the best falafel in town and I tested it and found it to be true. It wasn't the best one I've had, but it was still good. I had lunch today at Ali Baba's. It is ok. I hope the two people that work there (unshaven guy and bleached blonde woman know that) - Your food is just ok. What makes me return to a restaurant is a certain amount of professionalism. I asked for the falafel combo. Once they got my money, I had to remind them of the side. I would not come for the gyro, that halal meat can be terrible if you get it at the wrong time. The falafels are ok. I ate a lot of them for a while but I stopped going once I learned that all their meat is slaughtered halal which I don't agree with. Tried a falafel wrap here this weekend. It was pretty decent. I liked that their falafel was more on the soft side, not fried to an extreme crisp. You could still taste the grain, not just grease. I liked the pita they wrapped it in too. On the other hand, all the ingredients seemed to be pre-made. I bet the falafel would be awesome if they fried it up to order and toasted the pita. I eat here at least two times a week, and every time it is delicious and just what I am craving. I can't believe anyone would complain about the staff, because everyone I have ever dealt with in there (with the exception of one long haired guy) have been great. The bleach blond haired woman and the unshaven guy are so incredibly nice and even give extras sometimes just to be sweet. You pretty much can't go wrong with a gyro, the mediterranean wrap, hummus, and pasta salad. I usually get my food to go, but when I have stayed to enjoy my meal, the ambiance has been very laid back and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place. read more
