Fist time in area, took my family for dinner here after checking reviews for place. Place was busy, once in I asked the waitress for a table for 5, but since our little one is just 5 she decided to seat us at a 4 ppl table to save space, when we complained table was too small owner said nothing he can do cause he has waiting list, no one was waiting but he wanted to keep bigger tables for a bigger group. He had bad attitude as well. Service was fast and decent, place was clean and nice, food portion was small for the price. We ordered 4 different orders, the meats were marinated for quite some time, it was soft with lots of spices, side veggies were not fresh at all, rice was either under or overcooked, homemade bread isn't fully baked. Since I eat turkish food everywhere including in turkey I dont recommend this place as an example of turkish cousin, I also see the ratings for the place to be too high for food quality, value or hospitality, I ordered Iskender kabob for 18$ and left hungry. I originally gave the place two stars, but I edited toe review and removed a star after the amount of gas this food gave me, hardly slept last night. read more

I Came here Memorial day weekend on my visit to Lake George. I wanted good food but I was disappointed. I had the lamb sheskabob, fiancee had the combo with chicken and lamb chop. Our meals were served with basmati rice, some kind of pickled slaw and bread cubes.? Only sauce avaible for this dish was Red pepper based. Menu seemed like greek and indian fusion. Ive had better Mediterranean food in brooklyn.The food was bland to me. I added salt and peppert o everything. Not sure what the rave is. The placed was packed with people so I figured I must be in the right place. Dont let that fool you. I just think people try here because its different from the strip italian, burger joint eateries in the area. Service was shotty. I understand busy but our waitress was just rude......not sure if she was being prejudice or just did not give a f¥€( . It sad to see people act like that in 2014. REALLY! Better for large groups. Not really a date spot. Noise level is more like a burgr joint/ cafeteria. Spent$ 52. Was not worth it. The only thing that I really enjoyed was my fresh peach juice. I wont be back here. Ali Baba is a good place to eat. The food is fresh and tasty. It is definitely americanized Mediterranean/Turkish food, but it is one of the few places you can find a descent vegetarian meal. It is one of the few places you can a find flavorful and fresh meal that someone has taken care to make for you. The Lavash was great and the Tzatziki sauce was particularly fresh and good. Services was prompt and friendly. The restaurant it's self sports these enormous tables and chairs.. it seems like a huge waist of space. Huge groups kept coming in 8-10 people in a group, obviously did not call a head and then tried to cram themselves around one of the giant tables.. I think Ali Baba would do well to get himself a consultation on restaurant layout to increase the guest capacity in a more comfortable way. Outdoor seating would also be a nice addition. Overall we were very surprised to find that the food in general in Lake George goes from mediocre to bad. Food quality does not seem to be a priority for a lot of these places. There are very few vegetarian options anywhere. I would seriously hate to be a vegan or Gluten Free here, you would really be out of luck. We were exceptionally disappointed given the long robust tourist history of this town and area. For a place on the main strip of lake George their prices are very fare! I ordered the lamb and beef gyro. Lamb tasted like it could be the "processed" gyro meat. I know it may seem like I'm degrading the place, but I'm really not. The food still tasted delicious. Just not like back home in CT. I would definitely go back, esp to try a lamb entree dish. A lot of negative reviews about every place on this strip and I was angry about going out. I'll eat at a food truck or a 3 star Michelin restaurant, so I take restaurants seriously. Food is delicious but more of a fast food setting than a pretentious formal restaurant. Regretfully prices are too large by a factor of almost 2x. For example 5 tiny lamb chops on a bed of rice will run you $24. I think that dish should be $12. Too bad, won't be returning here. read more

I'm a native Turkish and during my time in Lake George, I've eaten in Ali Baba Express.It was very nice for me to find some familiar food, and considering their meat is halal, it was a very good choice for me. I love their kebabs however their döner (gyro) wasn't good at all, it was cold and I think it wasn't fresh, maybe it was frozen. It is a restautant serves Turkish food but target costumers are not only Turkish people who live around so they have to adapt it little bit for American taste, and that's understandable. My boyfriend and I came here as an alternative to BBQ style food ! We had a good meal. My boyfriend says compared to authentic Mediterranean it is "just ok." I have not been to any Mediterranean countries so as an American I thought it was yummy! We first got an appetizer which comes with this bread. Kind of greasy but I liked it! Recommended place to eat when in lake george. Very clean restaurant quiet and most of all have very good food wether it's authentic or not still got 4* to me judging on food quality. We ordered 4 Gyro sandwiches on 7/8/2020, they looked thin and empty. Just a five pieces of meat, some lettuce and cucumbers, and one tiny piece of tomato. The bread was raw and needed to be baked more. Taste like row dough. I would increase the price a little and fill up the sandwich. read more

Good falafel wrap - large, tasty, and well-priced at $8.95. We asked for yogurt sauce and hot sauce on the side and it went very well with the wrap. The falafel could've been crispier though and it was extremely messy to eat because there was too much hummus inside. Cons: - Terrible service. Due to a serious understaffing, it was hard to grab our waitress's attention. - Environment was insane - kids were running around, making messes, and creating chaos EVERYWHERE. I know this isn't really under Ali Baba's control, but I did not feel like I could just eat my food in peace. The atmosphere of the restaurant is not memorable at all. The decor on the walls seems very authentic, however, you can tell customer service is not a priority here. There are not many warm, fuzzy,happy waitresses. In their defense, the place is busy. I got a falafel wrap, as did my company. The pita and falafel balls were very bland. I added hot sauce and it really saved the wrap.... But the hot sauce is like a mix of a siracha and chalula... Kinda weird. Overall, not worth the wait if it's more than a half hour. I should have known by the fact that no one was in there. I figured it was still early. Such a shame. Don't waste your time. The mushrooms in the food are canned. Have been here before and was excited to bring the extended family to try. We asked for a table to 6 adults and 4 children. Was told we would have to sit at separate tables, no effort to put 2 tables together or try to move extra chairs over. The man I presume to be the owner seemed annoyed that we stayed. Americanized Mediterranean is the keyword here. When asked what the difference was between Turkish tea and normal black tea they had no idea. Having said that the food was good especially the juicy chicken kabob and that is what I recommend because I can't justify paying $19 for the lamb version. I've seen the other reviews and the common theme are sub par waitresses and small portions, but in defense of Alibaba the waitresses were very pleasant but I suspect would buckle under the pressure of a full restaurant. After a long drive from NYC with a thunderstorm/hail, we stopped by this restaurant. The food was very filling. Since we were from the city, we thought the price was a little steep, but the friendly staff compensated it. We paid our meal with a credit card, but the restaurant's line was busy because the staff was calling their car insurance companies about broken windows and dents. My family and I dined here on Monday June 28th. The male employee who took our orders was rude, constantly rushing, and had no respect for the customers. On the other hand, the female employee who brought out our food was very kind and patient, despite the fact that she told us that it was her first day on the job. The fact that an employee who has had no prior experience in customer service has better manners than the male employee shows that he should be nowhere near the food service industry. I ordered the chicken curry kabob, and the curry sauce was well seasoned/spiced, but the actual meat itself was very dry. We also had the Greek salad (stuffed grape leaves tasted great), Baba Ganoush, Chicken Iskender and Chicken Curry, every bite delicious. Both meals come with moist rice, red cabbage, & green beans. Serving size is plenty. Meals taste great with Turkish Tea or Apricot juice. Family owned and the owner checked on us twice to make sure we were pleased. Sometimes the food comes out fast and sometimes slightly slow if crowded, but to be sure, they have everything organized and will not disappoint you. Pleasant decor.
