We visited this restaurant recently and found the food and service to be acceptable, with a very nice and attentive waitress. Prices were also decent, making for what could have been a pleasant dining experience. However, I cannot recommend this place to anyone with even the mildest of mobility issues. After having to pick my uncle up off the steps outside, I was shocked by the lack of basic accessibility. Every step has a raised lip of about half an inch, there are no handrails, no handicap signage, and the parking lot is in a serious state of disrepair. I genuinely have no idea how this passed inspection. Thankfully, my uncle did not hit his head and will be okay aside from some soreness and bruising. I understand that running a small business is not easy, but skimping on safety--especially accessibility--is a non-starter for me. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant. read more

By far the best Italian restaurant in 50 miles. Big statement, but I've tried them all, and nothing stands up to the food at Mama Risos, especially the red sauce -its amazing. Came here based off some recommendations. Let me tell you, it was not a let down at all. When considering an Italian restaurant, I judge it based off if things seem homemade, like I'm staying at someone's house or store bought in bulk. Every thing I tried in here seemed home made. To start we walked in and we're instantly greeted by a lady behind the bar, and we were seated right away. A waiter promptly came over and took our drink order, followed by food. We skipped appetizers as the dessert menu looked spectacular. I ordered the chicken parm with vodka instead of red sauce, my wife ordered it with the red sauce. Both versions were absolutely delicious. My father in law is vegetarian and got the ravioli (there were many options for him) For dessert we got the chocolate mousse and cannoli which were delicious as well. They were out of tiramisu (which is home made). I got an espresso to go along with it. The first time it came with regular pasta and thankfully I had them double check before I ate. The second time they gave me gluten free pasta and the seafood was undercooked. We took my Father-in-law there for Father's Day, the ambiance was very nice, however the food was expensive, our drinks were very expensive, I ordered a glass of wine and it was $10, my Husband ordered a beer, and THAT was $10!!! I ordered Veal Parmesan, it was dry and I would not order that again. The hostess was setting up the tables and she was wearing this tight red dress, I wasn't sure if she was pregnant or didn't have a support body suit under it, that dress left nothing to the imagination. I've been here several times and never had a bad meal. Actually always 4 star plus. But it's not waterfront, and I've gone to other favorites. Well on Monday and Tuesday they are the only fine dining restaurant on the east side of Lake George. So I ordered Steamed clams. Amazing. No grit. Tender. Perfect. Best I've had outside a NJ or Maryland clam house. The Manhattan cocktails were also perfect. The food stunning. My partners Veal parm, melt in your mouth. My fra diavlo perfect. Seafood melts in your mouth. Pasta perfectly andante . One of the best Italian meals I've had on the Eastern Seaboard. And I've lived in NY city, NJ, near Philadelphia and in Washington DC. Also extensive wine list. Classic Italian. Music is American standards and Jazz. This place just moved way up my list. Service was great. If your here to dine, was fine. If you're in a rush. We were given a big surprise. This little Italian restaurant was much better than I held out hopes for; I believe there may have been a first-generation Italian in the kitchen! The atmosphere and environment were dark and poor, but their sauces were tasty. The restaurant floor also dips towards the front window so that you won't be seated evenly. For our dinners, we had Clams and Shrimp Marinara with Fettuccini, salads, and Minestrone Soup. And, a Shrimp and Scallops in herbed butter. Both of these dishes were satisfying. The marinara sauce was nice and light. Their idea of fettuccine noodles is odd but prepared well overall. Most of the restaurants close on Thursday here, so when you find a little cafe that is open and tasty--be grateful. Our server was polite. read more

My husband and I stopped in for dinner and we were floored by how truly amazing the food was. We both attended culinary school and have worked in high end restaurants and also agree we've never made anything more delicious. We ordered two of the specials and the calamari. We walked in hoping for amazing homemade Italian food and we got exactly that. Going on a Monday in the summer meant it was quiet and not busy at all. Service was great and everyone was super pleasant. We got garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer and it was super delicious! The chicken parmesan and the manicotti was beyond expectations. The chicken seemed like they just got it from the back tonight as I ordered it. Portion sizes fit the price very well. And of course we had to get some homemade gelato for dessert! Check was requested twice and 30mins later check was still not received and members of our party had to leave. Staff was not attentive- never asking if anyone wanted refills and attempting to clear plates that were not empty without asking first. Food is overpriced for what it is. Calamari was dry and one order serves about 2 people (very stingy with the food). Never thanked by anyone for dining with them despite being a large party who spent a lot of money. Sal and Anna catered our son's rehearsal dinner at the Erlowest and the food was superb! He married into an Italian family and they all enjoyed the food immensely. Sal was wonderful to work with, called and suggested making a change to the menu to make it easier for guests to eat while dressed up. We have been to this italian place before post and pre pandemic. Went here on 7/25/2022 with my family on our last day of Lake George vacation. First off, there was a line at the door, as someone reserved a party of 9, but got seated right away as soon by a passing server. the party of 9 got sat, and then we were a party of 3. They did put us by several other people, now i was okay with that, but some others may want some room between them and others just to be cautious. Server did take a while to greet us, but that is okay as we were looking at the menu anyways. We got waters, ginger ale, and an orange italian soda which my mom said was okay. We ordered as follows: i got the Ciuppino which was scallops, clams, mussels, and shrimp with pasta, my dad got the seafood fridivo medium, and my mom got veal parm. Our meal came with salad or soup, and kudos to Sarah our server for knowing the specials, and all the soups- as well as remembering my dressing on the side. Bread was good, salad was good, and my food was very good! i ate all my mussels, and clams, as well the pasta. The pasta is a small portion tho but i liked it because i can focus on the other food and not worry about a pound of pasta over it. pricewise was okay. Hopefully will be back next year! read more

My DH and I probably visit this place at least 2 times a summer season. We were in Lake George with a large group the weekend of the Fire Convention and decided to visit Mama's once again. Food is just like mama's :-) This is probably my DH and my 4th time here but first time reviewing. All 11 of us were seated as soon as we arrived and Anna, our server took our drink orders. After we were quickly served she took our dinner orders. I ordered bake Ziti in which is not listed on the menu but have ordered it here before and they have accommodated me with this special order. As usual it was very good. There sauce is not to sweet but just right. There are a few coupons online for this place if you do some searching. I really enjoy this place and am coming back next week on our yearly camping trip to Lake George with my granddaughter as she loves Italian food! read more

Drinks took a long time and not to even say they charged for supposedly sharing a plate $8 because we "shared a plate" just fyi the plate was not even shared. And let alone if I'm not mistaken calamari is an appetizer which is a shareable plate. Another thing they need to wash there cups and utensils better as I kept seeing lipstick and stains on the cup. Minestrone soup consisted of diced carrots, celery & dittalini, no beans, tomato or flavor. House salad soaked in jarred Italian dressing & made with cooked green beans? escarole cooked with burned bitter garlic & a quart of oil. Homemade linguini very good but sauce lacked flavor. Shrimp Marinara same. On plus side, everything came out hot so kudos to servers & kitchen staff. Chef needs to improve & think Fresh & Flavor! Pet bathroom peeve: no hook on wall of ladies room for your purse....easy & cheap fix. Poor service! We had reservations for 5 p.m. and arrived a few minutes early. The hostess seated us and gave us menus. About 5:10 a party of 4 came in. At 520 the waitress went to their table and started taking their order. I exclaimed to my husband, "We were here first!" The waitress glanced at me but continued taking the order of the other party, which she then took to the kitchen. My husband said. "Let's go." On the way out I told the hostess why we were leaving. So did the waitress intentionally wait on the larger party? Did the hostess communicate with the waitress? Are these folks just plain rude? *I normally don't do this* classic opening line for a review.. however, as a local and someone that came in with a friend (not dressed to kill, as we just went swimming) it seems like we got treated accordingly. It was around 8, (which I get is almost closing time) and you could tell the hostess was frazzled, while trying to seat everyone, but don't seat a party if you can't properly accommodate them. We knew our whole entire order within 5 minutes. When we got water, *20 mins went by* without being greeted by the server..finally the "hostess" asked if we had been greeted.. we said "no!" Finally the server came by and we then put in our whole order.. (a bottle of wine, 2 pasta dishes, 2 soups, 2 appetizers & 2 salads.) Before even stating the second entree dish she asked, "are you sharing?" No, actually we are each getting our own pasta dishes? It seemed like she assumed we would not order much. More time went by while we waited for the wine. When the first items were dropped she never checked in to see how it was.. or the second or third items. I get if you are trying to space out the courses, but maybe check on us to see if we are ready for the next? Clearly we were not cared for or forgotten about so we tipped accordingly. I always give 20% or more, but she did not deserve it. There was no communication whatsoever and we would have gotten out of there much faster, as they were closing down. What additionally rubbed me the wrong way, was the 5 top next to us (who sat well after us and replaced a different 5 top that up and left) was greeted way before us by an attentive server, given their salad/soups and drinks before us, their main courses and were out the door before we even got our pasta. The waitress was rude and took her sweet time or maybe she just forgot we existed all together.. As 2 seasoned long-time locals in the serving industry, this was insulting honestly..not everyone is a tourist that comes in and should be treated shitty.
