    Chicken Parmesan
    Jena P.

The absolute BEST fresh baked ciabatta bread I think I've ever had. Hot and crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was disappointed to not have a listing of cocktails on the menu or a cocktail menu at the table, as I would have ordered one or two, which would have increased the bill and therefore the tip for our hard-working waiter. Our family ordered the mozzarella sticks to begin with, which were perfectly crisp on the outside and melty on the inside with a delicious robust marinara sauce. The batter on the cheese sticks was more like a beer batter, which I personally prefer more than a bread crumb coating. For dinner, we ordered Chicken Parmesan, which was delicious, however the chicken needs to be pounded thin - it was more like a full size thick chicken breast which doesn't work well for chicken parmesan. The taste was very good though! My husband and son got the lasagna, which was outstanding, but the layers were not well-defined. My other son got the Chicken Marsala, which is the reason for the reduction in a star on this review - the chicken was not sautéed and it was very bland; the sauce was watery (more like a very bland brownish broth than a thick delicious brown sauce!). Please reinvent your marsala recipe!! Lastly, for dessert, we had the Tiramisu, which was excellent, however, it was marred by the whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top. Tiramisu should really only be garnished with a dusting of cocoa, as to not detract from the subtle flavors of coffee, liqueur, and mascarpone. Overall, delicious food in a warm atmosphere.

"The Place", this is my favorite Italian Restaurant of all time!! NYC, LA, Las Vegas no city has the combination of excellent food, service, value and ambiance like this a Italian Eatery. I always get the French Onion Soup, Veal Parmesan with Spaghetti and a Side of Amy's Homemade Meatballs. The Menu is perfect with no filler, try everything at least once. You won't be disappointed. The Place may have the best Marinara of all time. I go as often as I am able when I am in the Adirondacks.

We walked in here hoping to get a table last minute for dinner, because surprisingly most restaurants in town were closed or already full for dinner; we didn't realize we'd need to make a resy in Chestertown. Thankfully there was one table available at The Place. The service was great, the food was tasty and good-sized portions. Recommend!

Cloudy, rainy, foggy, not the best day to be traveling to the Adirondacks when the Fall colors are…read moreat their peak. Surprisingly enough, there was a spot along the Northway just outside of Warrensburg that still managed to show off its rainbow sherbet of colors. Our objective, however, was to meet my sister in Chestertown for dinner at O. P. Fredricks. Arriving at 4 PM when they opened there were already a few people in the bar and in the dining room. They don't take reservations, so it was wise to arrive early. By 4:30 there were people waiting for a table. The atmosphere inside is truly Adirondack with hewn wood beams and paneling. Before I forget, the chairs are really comfortable. The menu was surprisingly, large. In addition to the evening's specials, which included three entrées, there were a dozen shareable appetizers (emphasis on "shareable"), four salads, 19 regular entrées (all accompanied by a fresh salad and bread [we never received any bread, but I didn't see it served to other tables either]), four steaks, at least a dozen different handheld sandwiches, quesadillas, and a kids' menu. There is a full bar including a half dozen drafts. Our beverages to start were a Wolf Hollow draft Camp Out Stout ($8), a Saranac Ginger Beer ($4), and a glass of Mondavi Chardonnay ($7). The portion size of the Baked Brie ($11) was truly shareable. The brie was warmed without being runny, served on top of a tasty garlic bread made from pressed hamburger bun slices, and topped with a melba sauce. It was so delicious! Just like the appetizers, entrée portions are large. We each took half of ours home. My sister was very pleased with her Seafood Stuffed Portobello ($26) - the stuffed portobello was broiled and topped with shrimp scampi and, as all of our entrées, served over the house rice pilaf. My wife's Scallops Rockefeller ($31.95) included sautéed scallops (oddly on one side only), mushrooms, chopped bacon, and baby spinach, finished with an anisette flambé, and served over the previously mentioned rice pilaf. Another tasty dish. My choice was their Jambalaya ($28). It was a delicious combination of sautéed chicken, shrimp, andouille sausage, mixed peppers, onions, and diced tomatoes mixed with the ubiquitous rice pilaf. It had just the right amount of spiciness for my taste to make it a thoroughly enjoyable meal. To wrap things up, we shared the Maple Bread Pudding ($7) with cups of coffee ($3 each). The bread pudding was moist with just enough maple flavor to satisfy a sweet craving. Service throughout was very attentive and friendly. Did I mention how comfortable the chairs are? And yes, their rice pilaf does go very well with everything. We're looking forward to a future visit. UPDATE: The Jambalaya is soooo good the 2nd day, I suggest you order it as takeout to eat the following day. And they are even nice enough to have removed the tails from the shrimp before the dish is served.

Consistency like this is rare, and it says everything about the standards they keep. I started with the Pomegranate Granita Oysters, and wow. Bright, refreshing, unbelievably fresh, and balanced perfectly. They were the kind of oysters you slow down for because you don't want the bite to end. I ordered the duck ragu again because I couldn't stop thinking about it from my last visit -- and once again, absolute perfection. Rich, comforting, layered with flavor, and yes... I cleaned the plate spotless. Not a drop left behind. From the hospitality to the execution of every dish, everything about this restaurant screams class, quality, and a superb dining experience. The team makes you feel welcome, the food exceeds expectations, and you leave already planning your next reservation. Manchester is lucky to have a place like this.

My friend had the Bucatini Cacio E Pepe. He said his dish was fine. Mine, on the other hand, was pasta coated in this thick orange paste (no sauce), which was absolutely tasteless (no exaggeration). It's as if they didn't even taste it for seasonings. I asked for salt. They offered to remake it, but I opted to try to make it edible adding my own seasoning. With quite a bit of salt, it was "ok", but the consistency left a lot to be desired. I probably should have sent it back and ordered a salad. A restaurant is only as good as it's food. Two stars is the best I could give them. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was good. But the food...

After already visiting Caldwell's and Dr. Brown's Pub, La Bella Vita was our final stop for dinner. The setting is absolutely lovely, and I can only imagine how spectacular it must be in the summer overlooking Lake George. Even in the winter, it felt warm and inviting, and the dining room was pleasantly busy. Our meal was very good and satisfying. We enjoyed the prime rib, and our friends ordered a pasta dish -- everything was flavorful and nicely prepared. We truly had a nice evening. The only small disappointment was that the lunch menu on Friday and Saturday in the Caldwell was the same exact menu for dinner in La Bella Vita. There were only a few entrée options, including sandwiches and pizza that we had already tried. We may have been expecting something a bit more grand or elevated for dinner. That said, overall it was a very nice experience. Prices are on the higher side, but that's to be expected at a beautiful resort like this. We're grateful for a lovely weekend and look forward to returning.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and asked if we wanted to sit outside overlooking the lake, or inside, and we of course said outside. We had prime seating on the terrace and enjoyed the lush greenery and the lake waking up. There was a comfortable breeze that made the whole experience top notch. Our waiter, Fabian, was super sweet, friendly, and full of smiles. We decided to do the al a carte option as opposed to the buffet, even though many of the other patrons who were staying at the Sagamore did do this. I had my heart set on the thick cut stuffed French toast, because it's fancy and I'm 40 now so why not - while hubby got their lobster eggs benedict. The food came out beautiful and was just as delicious! My french toast was piled high with berries and powdered sugar, and hubby's eggs came with rosemary roasted potatoes. We cleaned out our plates happily.
