Thai Chicken Curry-ok but didn't taste like a Thai dish to me
    Allie H.

We stopped here while camping in the area to get takeout. It's a small place located in a strip mall (the sign is very faded so be aware of that if it's your first time here because we initially drove past it. Chinese Food is something that really varies by the region and being from New England I knew that what I found in NY would likely be a lot different than what I'm used to. We ordered a combo plate that came with pork fried rice, beef & broccoli and an egg roll. We also got an order of chicken wings and an order of the Thai chicken curry. The fried rice was pretty good. It could have used more soy sauce when it was being cooked but it had a nice amount of pork and veggies mixed in. The Beef & Broccoli was tasty. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and the sauce was flavorful but the meat was a little mushy. The chicken wings had good flavor but they were breaded which is unlike in New England where the chicken wings are marinated. I really liked the chicken egg roll; crispy on the outside and a soft middle with good flavor. However my fiancé said he would have liked the veggies to be crunchier inside. The biggest disappointment was the Thai Curry. I've had a lot of Thai curries since Thai food is my favorite cuisine. This curry lacked the coconut undertone and freshness to the sauce. Although the chicken and veggies were cooked well it tasted more like an Indian curry. So although it didn't taste bad it wasn't necessarily what we were expecting so it was a bit of a disappointment. Prices were pretty reasonable and I may have given this place four stars because although the food had some flaws overall it was really tasty. However, the lady we placed our order with was brusque bordering on rude. She walked up to the counter, barked at as "do you know what you want to order?" and as I opened my mouth to answer her she picked up the phone, started taking another order and disregarded us. I'm sympathetic to an establishment being busy and if she needed to answer the call a simple "I'll be with you in just one moment" would have been perfectly sufficient. When we finally did give her our order she seemed almost annoyed with us for doing so and she felt dismissive. All of that being said if I was in the area again and wanted Chinese food I wouldn't necessarily object to going back. I'd probably pass on the curry though and I'd hope the staff was having a better day!

Delicious takeout, best we've found in the area. Quick service, clean and super efficient visible kitchen.

A fairly short drive brought me to this little seafood shack; it is located in what seemed to be a kind of out of the way neighborhood. From the outside it looks charming, just a nice New England hang out; inside is even better with 2 compact dining rooms decorated with a nautical theme and a metal roof. When I arrived at about 6 on a Friday night the place was almost full with a couple of larger parties enjoying themselves. The menu is great for me since it is almost exclusively fish and seafood, with a good selection of preparations; even better there was another page of specials that are a bit more upscale. Since I was hungry and just wanted to keep it simple I choose the all you can eat fish fry off the menu. Considering how busy the restaurant was my meal came out in about 10 minutes. A nice basket with 4 fish fillets, fries and coleslaw. The highlight was clearly the fish with perfectly cooked moist white fish in a great batter with just enough spices to perk the fish up. The fish was so good that I actually finished the 4 fillets and then got 2 more. The fries were very thin cut and crispy. The coleslaw is what you would expect, good but nothing special. I was very impressed with Adirondack Seafood, the fish was excellent and the sides were good. The price was reasonable and the portions were generous. Service was good and the atmosphere is charming and fun. I would strongly recommend giving them a try. About the only downside is that outside of fish and seafood there are not a lot of choices; not an issue for a pescetarian like me but could be an issue for those who are serious carnivores.

We chose Morgan & Company to celebrate our wedding anniversary after I specifically requested a…read moregift certificate to dine there because I had been looking forward to the experience. Sadly, it ended up ruining what should have been a special evening. I began with the French onion soup. The menu described it as being served with a crouton, but what arrived was two large pieces of bread with only the thinnest drizzle of melted cheese. Anyone who enjoys classic French onion soup knows the hallmark of the dish is a generous blanket of bubbling cheese, with the bread hidden underneath. I politely mentioned this to our server, who took it back to the kitchen. What came back was astonishing. Instead of remaking the soup properly, the kitchen simply added two more pieces of bread--for a total of four slices--and again barely covered them with cheese. At that point I declined the manager's offer to make it a third time. After seeing what the kitchen considered an acceptable correction, I had completely lost confidence. For my entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp and added the glazed spare ribs. Unfortunately, both were overwhelmed by an extremely sweet, thick, sticky glaze. The coconut shrimp themselves may have been very good had the sauce been served on the side so diners could decide how much to use. Instead, every bite was drenched in sweetness. The ribs had virtually the same heavy glaze, and even the green beans and carrots were swimming in a sweet sauce. The entire plate tasted like dessert rather than dinner. I barely touched it and simply had it boxed to take home so we could wash off the sauces ourselves. My husband ordered the bouillabaisse, which had the opposite problem--it was surprisingly bland and lacked the rich seafood flavor one expects from that classic dish. Rather than complain yet again, he also boxed it up so we could season it ourselves at home. By 8:30 on a Sunday evening we were still hungry and began searching for another restaurant, only to discover that most nearby kitchens were closing at 9:00. We ended up grabbing Chinese takeout just so we could have something to eat on our wedding anniversary. The evening became even more disappointing considering the cost. We ordered a $150 bottle of Cabernet, bringing our bill to approximately $300 before tip. Spending that amount for a celebratory dinner and then leaving hungry to find another meal elsewhere is not an experience I ever expected. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I generally give restaurants every opportunity to make things right. In this case, however, the problems extended well beyond a single dish. Between the mishandled soup, the excessively sweet entrées, the bland bouillabaisse, and ultimately having to find another dinner after spending hundreds of dollars, this was an anniversary dinner we will remember for all the wrong reasons. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because it has the potential to be much better than what we experienced.

I was dining alone and sat at the counter, where I could watch the team prepare each meal. You are essentially sitting right in the kitchen, with only the counter separating you from the chefs and staff. It made the entire experience much more interesting and gave me a real appreciation for the effort that goes into every dish. I started with the lumpia, which I loved. The sauce was absolutely delicious. For dinner, I had the scallops with gnocchi, and the food was excellent. My server, whom I believe was named Tristan, was also outstanding. He was always available when needed but never hovered. The service was perfectly balanced. I was there for a little over an hour, and not once did I see anyone in the kitchen standing around. It was a fast-paced, hardworking environment, and everyone was completely focused on preparing and serving the food. At most restaurants, all of this work happens behind closed doors. Being able to watch the preparation gave me an even greater appreciation for my meal and the people who made it. This is definitely a restaurant you should experience for yourself. I will absolutely be returning with friends.

Our waiter was super attentive and even though it took some time for the food to come out, I think given the quality of everything we ate, it was worth it. I got the raspberry mint mojito cocktail which was delicious and I pinched a sip or two of kid's lemonade made from fresh lemons, perfect level of sweetness. We tried the sweet potato pakoras and lumpia and the trio of house made dips (we liked the green mint-e one best). Everything was tasty, including the sauces that came up with them. Our kids shared the ramen which they split into two large bowls that didn't even look like a split dish given how much it was. My wife got the spare ribs which melted off the bones and had great flavor. The scallop dish I ordered came with six scallops that were a good size and also came with some gnocci, a delicious and unique sauce, and an unusual lobster with veggie type of ceviche salad accoutrement. I have the sense that the menu changes regularly here. The chef/owner came out and greeted us after the meal to ask how everything was and we could honestly respond that it was our best meal of the week. Subsequently we tried to sample many items from their desert menu and again Bastard did not disappoint. Surprisingly the "S'Mores," a more adult take on the kid's classic, was one of our favorites. Given the unique take on a variety of globally inspired dishes and great attention to detail, I would love to try Bastard again the next time I'm in the area.

I subbed in Swiss and it was still awful. The meat was very dry and flavorless. - Kids' chicken fingers and fries: This was fine. All told, we had two entrees, a kids meal, and a bowl of soup. Along with two sodas, the total came to almost $70 before tip. That's a lot more than I wanted to spend for such lousy food. Prices of some other items (especially drinks) were even more absurd. I'm not going to pay $7 for a Coors light. I'm definitely not going to pay $17 (!!!) for a Long Island iced tea at some random diner. Service was fine.
