    Lamb Kabsa
    David C.

I have been going to Ali Baba Grill since about 2014 when I attended the Colorado School of Mines in beautiful Golden, Colorado. As students, my friends and I would go there for their reasonable prices and large servings on some of their dishes and I am glad to report that has not changed. My favorite dish to get there is the lamb kabsa which has lamb shanks, vegetables, rice, and a yogurt sauce. This can easily be eaten for 2 or 3 meals depending on how much you eat. A little tip is to ask for the red hot sauce that tastes amazing with the dish! With full-size entrees, naan, hummus, and a side salad is provided as well which all taste awesome. If the weather is good, ask for the outside table to enjoy the mountain view with your meal.

We stopped in after a long hike and were very hungry. I grabbed a chicken shawarma plate to go. The food was inexpensive and was a good volume. It came with chicken, rice, hummus, pitas, and I subbed in baba ganoush in place of (I believe) salad. Everything was well seasoned and had great flavor. The staff was great, especially about subbing items, and the place had a calm and quiet vibe to it.

Authentic cuisine with generous portions! The hummus had me hooked at first bite, and honestly, it is what keeps me coming here. It is smooth, creamy, and flavorful. It is topped with paprika and olive oil and comes with soft, warm pita bread and I literally could have it as a meal. When you step into the restaurant, it is like you are immersed in the essence of the culture. It is beautifully decorated in golds, oranges, reds, and yellows. They have a fountain in the middle of the restaurant, although I have never seen it working. There are no windows, which makes it a bit darker, but it does add to the ambiance. My usual is the hummus be-shawarma with chicken. It is a large portion of hummus topped with chicken shawarma. The chicken is thinly sliced and has been marinated in garlic, oranges, and various spices. When ordering this dish, you do have the choice of chicken or gyro meat or a combination of both. The chicken is unbelievably tender, and the portions are so big that I always have leftovers for a few meals. Overall, I think this is a neat place to try and the food is delicious. My 4 star (instead of 5 star) rating comes from the fact that I am not the biggest fan of their gyro meat. I also think that the restaurant needs a good cleaning. The salt and pepper shakers looked and felt really dirty, and the glass on the front door is always smudged and dirty, which makes me a little uneasy thinking about their cleaning methods or lack thereof.

We were looking for a close place to grab lunch in the area and stumbled across this place. Not much to look at from the outside, but I'm always interested in Lebanese food, so we gave it a shot. Well, once you go inside you enter a completely different region of the world! The decorations, wall coverings, lighting...everything takes you to Lebanon. Quite impressive and immersive. Service initially was quick, brining us water and our salads in minutes. Once we ordered though, it took quite a while. Lunch specials were affordable and very well seasoned. My Lamb Kafta was delicious but overcooked. Rice was done properly and the salad fresh. We enjoyed our time and chatted but never again had a visit from our waiter, so I had to go to the front and wait to get our bill and a to go box. Poor owner was swamped with incoming orders, questions and waiting customers. She eventually got our check and we headed out with barely enough time to get my friend back to work on time. Overall, lots of potential, just need more staff. Worth a visit though and I would definitely go back when I'm up that way.

Oh my goodness, truly amazing and authentic Lebanese food. My boyfriend and his brother are half Lebanese and they said this place holds up to their standards. I got grape leaves and a shawarma plate and both were fantastic. The hummus is out of this world. Sharwarma was a little more cinnamon-y than I normally like but I will 100% be coming back ASAP for more. Also the gyro sandwich, baklava, and tabbouleh were fantastic.

Stopped by after a beautiful hike in Golden Gate Canyon State Park! We weren't looking for anything specific and randomly pulled into the parking lot when we saw "GYROS" and we had to go inside! We ordered ours to go so we can eat outside in the patio. The do have available seating! Feel free to enjoy your meal inside too :) We all ordered the Gyro Sandwich and it was pretty good! Definitely hit the spot. I'd say it could've used feta! Maybe that's an option you can add :) We also tried a side of fries... beware! It's a pretty decent portion and can be easily split between 2 people. Seasoning on them is somewhat non existent but still pretty good. Service was great! He was quick and very nice.

I visited during a busy Saturday dinner rush. The food is great. Everything tastes homemade and fresh. The falafel is super crunchy on the outside and nice and fluffy soft on the inside. A must order. Now I'm not normally a hummus fan but I gave this places a try and wow I'm glad I did! It's creamy and flavorful and goes perfectly with their warm pita bread. My entree was the gyro sandwich. It was good but the meat was sliced thick so it didn't have the crispy edges I usually love in a gyro. The flavor was good however. Desert... baklava and real Turkish coffee!! Oh my goodness! Flaky sweet pastry and earthy hot Java. Yumm Service was okay. They were very busy. We did have to make multiple requests for things because the server forgot about them. They also made a mistake on our check. However they were quick up correct it and given how bust they were I think they did well.

The flavor on everything is elevated and fresh!! We had hummus w/pita, falafel, and fries to start. Amazing falafel! Perfectly crispy outside and pillowy inside. For entrees, I had the lamb gyro which was one of the best I've had. The lamb is perfection and they wrap it in a roti instead of pita which was absolutely the move! The house-made pickled veggies served with it were amazing as well and really balanced the nice waiting of the lamb gyro. My wife got the Caesar salad with chicken Shawarma. That was Incredible as well! Try a side of the Harrissa in the zhug sauces to add a little fresh heat! The restaurant has great ambience with some Moroccan type vibes and a great patio. There is a 20% service charge automatically added to every check which is what it is. But for this level of flavor, it's worth it plus tip!

The bartenders and waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and professional. If I were rating only those things, this would be an easy 5 stars. Then the yellow rice arrived cold and crusty. We sent it back. It came back slightly improved but still not properly hot. After a few bites, we found a piece of plastic in it. The half chicken was a mixed bag. The crispy skin was delicious and well seasoned, but the chicken itself was served only lukewarm. Some pieces were moist and enjoyable, while others, especially toward the end, were noticeably dry. It wasn't bad, but had I known it would be served that way, I probably would have ordered something else. The kitchen issues alone would have dropped this to 4 stars. What pushed it down to 3 stars was the billing. A 20% service charge had already been added, yet the payment process still encouraged an additional tip. If you're not paying close attention, it's very easy to leave 40% on an already expensive meal. Whether intentional or not, it feels confusing and misleading. Even if it's disclosed somewhere on the menu, that doesn't make it customer friendly. Customers should not have to do math or hunt through fine print like a budget airlines to figure out what their meal actually costs. Build your labor costs into the menu price and be transparent. Surprise fees create frustration and leave customers feeling misled, regardless of how many disclaimers are printed. To their credit, they removed a couple of drinks from the bill, and I want to be clear that the staff handled the situation professionally. The problem was not the servers. The problem was a kitchen that missed the mark and a shady billing practice that leaves customers with a bad taste in their mouth at the end of the meal. Great hummus. Great pita. Great cocktails. Great service. Cold rice. Plastic in the food. A chicken dish that didn't quite live up to the hype. Confusing service fees. That's how a restaurant that could have been 5 stars ends up with 3.

When we corrected that we were supposed to have two Hummus Shawarma plates, our server stated she knew that but she messed up the tables...and then proceeded to say if I didn't want the Chicken Kebab plate, she could switch it out. This was honestly very confusing as it essentially seemed to us like she was admitting she messed up the order but was simply assuming I would be fine with something I did not order and would only change it if I directly asked? I am guessing our facial expressions and "uhms..." clued her into this as she then offered to bring a side of hummus free of charge...I would have been astounded if she had tried to charge extra considering what I ordered was supposed to include hummus. It was truly a very odd interaction and I don't know why she wouldn't have just brought over a side of hummus to begin with to rectify the mistake or simply said they made a mistake and thus my plate would be taking a little bit longer. We also had to request silverware after waiting for the hummus to be delivered. The food was fine, but kind of subpar, we both felt the chicken was overly seasoned with cinnamon as that was the primary flavor and that the hummus was the best part - even more reason I would have been upset had I not received it. It was kind of a weird mix between a fast casual setting and sit-down place. We were brought menus and waters and our order was taken and delivered making it feel like a sit down restaurant, but we seated ourselves, there was no checking in after the food was dropped off, no cleaning of dishes, and we checked out on the iPad which made it feel more fast casual. There were also a couple gnats flying around which obviously just adds to a negative experience. Overall, not a place we would return.
