This is a lovely family restaurant where great care is put into the food. I love the unassuming, down-to-earth feeling. The owners are friendly, kind-hearted, and generous. The gyros are wonderful and the sauces, lentil soup, and salads are perfect. The salad was particularly crisp and fresh. And the basmati rice was exceptional - clearly the best rice you can buy. The place was empty when we arrived accept for on person finishing his bill settlement. We stood at the counter a few minutes looking at the menus on the counter. A pleasant woman emerged and as if we wanted anything and we said we wanted to eat i . We grabbed the menu and chose a table. She appeared to be working alone. We were finally able to order after about 10 minutes and were given drinks from the cooler. Doesn't seem full service but it was Monday at 1:30 so maybe no staff?? The food to me was average in taste. I might try the lamb next time if in the area. I wasn't impressed as some reviewers with the ambiance or the food. For my meal I had a chicken kebab wrap with dolma for the side and tzatziki sauce. The chicken was dry and bland, but the veggie accompaniment was fresh and customisable. The pita was soft and tasty. The tzatziki sauce was just ranch with lemon juice. The dola was absolutely foul and I only had one bite. There are bottled drinks to buy, and there was a decent selection. Have seen this place and never been. It's super clean and organized. Tried to today during a slow period. It took a bit to get the food but it was so worth it! My bf got the deluxe kafta wrap and fries, the kafta was delicious and fresh! I got the chicken kabob plate with the Greek salad. The tzatziki was so delicious, the chicken was well seasoned and tasty, the rice had a good light citrus kick, and the pita was so soft and toasty and delicious! We will definitely be back! No one involved with restaurant has ever had tzatziki, falafel, or maybe even a Greek salad. How can food this simple be so mediocre. I mean this is okay if you compare it to what you'd get at an airport but that's the only time it would be okay. If you've traveled, or you know, eaten at restaurant that has credible Mediterranean heritage then you should pass on this place. Tzatziki is a yogurt based, dip that is thick, filled with delicious onion, garlic and dill and cucumber. What we got was ranch with lemon in it. Absolutely not authentic. The falafel was clearly machine made and frozen before cooking. Every piece was identical in color, size and symmetry. It was too dense and largely flavorless. What they served as a Greek salad was a cucumber salad...which is not what a greek salad should be. The dressing could've been a store bought vinaigrette. It wasn't bad enough for me to return but I'd never order from this place again. It is not authentic, not inspiring, and missing most of what I would call flavor. read more

Amazing authentic food. The stuffed grape leaves ( Dolmas ) were incredibly delicious. We also had the best Falafels we had ever tasted, the texture of the falafel was perfect as was the spices. The Gyro meat was seasoned just right. The rice was so good by itself, I am sorry I do not have any photos to share. The best was the lentil stew with rice. We plan on returning and will post picks. Lets not forget the chicken kabob plate, Yum is all I can say. I am noticing a pattern. I think with limited choices due to the pandemic I'm going back to places I haven't been in so very long. The last time I went to Saffron Grill was when they were in the gas station over on Kipling! What is wrong with me the food is delicious. And I used to eat at a gas station to go here. Now they have a nice restaurant easy to take out and it took me this long to go! Well glad I'm getting out of my "tired of the same old restaurant" box. I had the lamb kebabs delicious! I got some extra Tzatziki it was very good. The Greek salad was excellent I'm gonna have to give a thumbs down on the amount of dressing though isn't that the tiniest little container you've ever seen? It's OK they're forgiven the food was delicious. I really love the way they shred the cucumbers and tomatoes for the salad. It had lots of cucumbers which are my favorite so two thumbs up! read more

Horrible horrible food!! Not sure what kind of meat that is but it's nasty. The falafel was so hard I couldn't squish it between my fingers. They were like rocks!! My bf got a combo bowl and he couldn't finish it and he always finishes his food. The baklava was also like eating rocks. And finally the fresh fries were raw and soggy. This was supposed to be a birthday dinner party at either Arrakash or Safta, but they were too booked, so my son set it up here. It was a hugely surprisingly good place. Ostensibly "Mediterranean", it reflected the Farsi Afghan style of the owner, a Persian minority from Afghanistan (people who supported the American involvement against the Taliban, and had to flee for their lives when the Taliban took over). The food was EXCELLENT, from the Persian style saffron rice, to the superbly well done meats, especially the lamb kebabs, as well as the hummus, baba ganoush, and felafel. The prices were lower than the original Mediterranean restaurants we were intent on, and none of the food disappointed. 4 in the party were Chinese, and it reminded them of the better quality Uyghur food of Xinjiang in Western China. What really impressed me us was the quality of service, from cooking, serving, managing the whole place WITH ONLY ONE PERSON. The food was microwaved not cooked in a stove or oven. I have eaten Gyros an Pitas in many restaurants and they have all tasted better than this place. This place does not even rank as high as fast food! The Lamb meat was undercooked and Salty, while the Gyros tasted like the stuff you buy already cooked like from Costco. I ordered the taziki sauce which is cucumber yoghurt sauce not all tangy and fishy I called and the lady was not willing to do anything even if I brought the sandwiches and sauce in. She offered me a $1! imagine that. Don't do this restaurant. They don't care at Saffron. Bad Bad customer service. the sandwiches would have been fine if the tangy sauce was not all over them. it ruined them. The food here is really tasty and the owners are very nice. I got the saffron 2 plate with chicken kebab and kofta kebab. The kofta was super tender and delicious. The chicken was good too but maybe a little on the dry side, which I'm guessing is not the norm based on other reviews here, but would still order again. The variety in these plates is great, the salad was amazing, the curry was spicy (will try the lentil stew next time), and the pita was soft and seasoned. All on top of a bed of yummy basmati rice. When I went to go pick up my food, I tried claiming the Yelp offer of 1 free baklava for checking in, which at first they said only applies to orders of $25 or more (which I don't see listed as a requirement on Yelp), but in the end the nice owners honored the Yelp offer and gave me a complimentary baklava, which I must say was very good and flaky and not overly syrupy and sweet as I've had at other places. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to Mediterranean food lovers! And a little positive customer service goes a long way in any dining experience, even take away. read more

Pretty darn good. They're a smidge overpriced imo (12$ for a medium sized chicken gyro and fries). The Tzatziki sauce was great. Chicken and gyro meat tasted good. Fries were great. No heartburn from too much garlic or anything. The baklava seemed over priced for such a small piece but WOW was it delicious. I haven't had baklava that good in a long time. read more

I went with a friend for lunch at Saffron Grill off Wads. When we walked in we were greeted by a very nice gentleman at the counter. I ordered two appetizers and a bottle of soda. I asked if he could give me a glass with ice for the soda but was told there was no ice- weird. We went to our table and sat down. As I waited, I started looking around and noticed dead or dying plants with crispy dead leaves on the floor, a lot of clutter and dirty floors. There was a makeshift office that was blocked off but open enough to see into a very cluttered area. The ambiance was pretty dead and there were no other customers that came in while we were there.
