Stopped by today because I wanted to try out a new spot and I ended up having a rather uncomfortable interaction with the cashier. For context, I am an Asian woman in my 20's and I was wearing a superhero shirt. The cashier was a middle aged/older Caucasian man. When I went to pay for my order, he asked me who my favorite "super-friend" was, in reference to my shirt. I said Batman or Nightwing. He asked me if they were my favorite because of their costumes. It was a condescending, misogynistic, and shallow question. To assume I only knew the characters by their appearance because I'm a woman, when in reality I am an avid fan of superheroes and have watched most if not all of the superhero content out there. While it may seem like a small deal, it was inappropriate and sexist in my opinion and should not be acceptable behavior from a worker at any establishment. Will not be returning read more

Super busy! Tons of space but gets crowded easily. Step up to place order at the deli counter. Clean inside, lots of works. Our bread was super hard for the Italiano sandwich but we just took it off. The Rye bread for the buffalo chicken sandwich was amazing though and slightly toasted. The wait for our sandwiches was a while but they were so busy I know that's why. This place was POPPIN during lunch time; clearly a local favorite and now I know why. It felt exciting to walk into the frenzy of hungry and happy mealers. All the side options in the display cases look delicious: potato salad and rotini salad looked especially appealing. Their premade salads and cookies looked awesome too. I got the Triple T with bacon added and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was great. Super clean and fresh. The bread is great and the sprouts were a nice touch. The sweet potato fries were crispy and in a nice small/appropriate portion. My hubby got the Reuben which he loved and his fries were nice and crispy too. Big fans of the fries from here. We also got another sandwich and the tacos. All were enjoyed. This place has it all! I'm definitely going to have to come back and try all the other goodies they have to offer. I had my eye on some of the hot sandwiches, the sides, and their big cookies! I think a really cool touch was their "dirty" drink menu with unique mixings in your ordinary sodas. Everyone was very friendly that helped us out and our food came out quickly even though it was packed! The dining area is a little dark and secluded feeling but the food was so good it overshadowed and we had a great time. It fit everyone because a lot of people grab and go. My mom and I needed a quick meal after shopping for groceries and we decided to try this restaurant. It's a cute deli with a few different items to choose from salads, to side dishes and even bagged nuts & chocolate. I ordered the Border Grill Sandwich with chicken. The sandwich had bell peppers, onion, avocado and topped with cheese. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the roll it was on was soft and delicious. The sandwich was good, fairly simple and on the side I chose the American Potato Salad. I thought the potato salad needed a sweet flavor but, overall it was good. My mom ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich on Squaw bread and she said it was a little bland for her taste. On the side she ordered the Rotel noodle salad which she really liked. We probably wouldn't go out of our way to eat here again but, it's worth a try! read more

Stopped by here since I was working in the area. I was here on a Friday afternoon and they had a guy in the parking lot making flat iron steak sandwiches. I wanted something lighter and got a sandwich with bean sprouts, avocado and cucumber. It was a decent sandwich and I wished I had asked for the bread to be toasted. I ordered at the deli, paid at the counter and my order was ready shortly after. I also ordered the potato salad and should've just ordered that on its own because it's filling and super tasty. The Best deli sandwiches in Claremont? Maybe so if they've been around for a hot minute and when I say hot minute I mean four generations and that's definitely is a long time. We ordered two of the non recommended sandwiches and that was our fault. First up was their Beefeater that came with grilled roast beef on sourdough with melted cheddar and grilled Ortega chilies. Now everything was ok but those chilies didn't have the kick it should've. Next was the Border grill that came with chicken breast with onions bell peppers, avocado and melted jack cheese. The sandwich was decent and the recommend one's should've been ordered but you live and learn sometimes. But that's for next time. The service was good and this experience is a three and a half star. I think this place would probably be good if I got Covid again and lost my taste buds. Otherwise, subway is about a 3 min drive away. This place is overhyped and overpriced. $15.59 for a turkey sandwich that tastes the same as one I could've made at home with expired ingredients from Aldi doesn't make sense to me. The customer service is 1/2 star if Yelp allowed it. They have "pay here" "order here" and "pickup here" signs, but I'm not sure why since they don't use them? Forget this place if you're in a rush for pickup because it seems no one wants to take orders or acknowledge the customers they're ripping off. You're at the mercy of hoping someone notices you've been standing there for 10-15 mins even on an empty day to ask for your to go order. But I'm thinking since the sandwiches are so small maybe they lose the food right after they make it, so who knows? Portion sizes are a joke. Turkey sandwich was the size of a small female hand palm and could be eaten in 4 bites. For $16 I expect to at least feel somewhat full. I hope I didn't accidentally order a kids meal?! $16 in nyc gets you 3 BEC and a smile, and that's saying a lot for New York..... This place gives a bad name to supporting local. Went here for a quick lunch after a soccer game in Claremont. It's a deli, and the vibe is exactly what a deli should be. It was really nice. The service is really good. Everyone was very friendly, and the guy behind the register even told me what I should be doing to save a couple bucks for the same exact meal. I love that. The food? I got the pastrami sandwich. I don't know why I was expecting something like the pastrami sandwich from the hat in Brea, but it was not even close. It wasn't that the Swiss wasn't good, or the ai jui wasn't good. The pastrami was bland. No flavor really. And I have to say, $16 for a ham and provolone sandwich? 60 bucks for a small cup of fruit, and three basic sandwiches. I just can't imagine how this is possibly worth that. In my opinion, for what you get, this place is insanely overpriced. It did come with a quarter of a lemon white chocolate cookie. I love this place. The staff works hard and is super cool with taking your order, ringing you up, and calling you up for your order. I've been here countless times since we moved to the area, and the quality of their food never waivers. My roommates and I have had their bbq, burgers, pastrami sandwiches, and tuna melts, and I've never been disappointed. Their sides and pastries are amazing, and the ranch is house made if you want to get that for your fries. Ambiance is your choice! You can chill in the dark recesses of the tables and grub or chat in secrecy. Whisper if you must. Of you can enjoy the warmth of the sun and get some vitamin D. It's nice to hang outside with friends and enjoy the sun and breeze. They'll have the bbq going out to offer specials of the day, and they haven't missed there yet either. I've lived here for so long and never knew about Wolfes! I always see it on foothill but I always assumed the whole building was the Meat Cellar (a fancy restaurant that I never cared to try) But I came here for a work lunch and I'm so glad I know about Wolfes now. Just average sandwich. Service was friendly. The dining room is dark and bland. They need a window in there! Got the cowboy and they forgot 2 ingredients which made for a boring sandwich but it was busy and I was hungry so I just ignored it. 42 dollars for 2 sandwiches, two bags of chips and two fountain drinks. I know everything is expensive now so I understand. But I absolutely do not understand how you don't give free refills on fountain drinks. Fountain drinks are very cheap...about 15 cents for cup lid straw and soda. For 2-3 bucks for a soda I would have to drink over a dozen refills for you to not make a profit. And to charge a $1.10 for a refill? Total price gouging your customers!! BE BETTER, WOLFE'S. Reconsider this practice. read more

This place us such a cool spot to grab lunch and catch up with an old coworker. I ordered the first sandwich on the menu based on the worker's suggestion. It was a perfect turkey sandwich with greens and dressing. It is boars head deli meat and it is so fresh. I also got the reeses slice of pie and it was a perfect combination. It paired perfectly and was a great ending to the lunch. I definitely would suggest coming here and trying other items too. Customer service is awesome and I loved their suggestion. read more

Been dying to come here forever. Then I found out they are doing dirty sodas so had to try. And boy did I find my new spot. First, the dirty sodas are amazing with a ton of options. Second, we also got lunch while there and were very pleasantly surprised. My husband and I both got a sandwich - he got the chicken avocado and I got the chicken salad sandwich. I was so happy with all the sandwiches that I have tried from here that I decided to order some catering items for a small get together. I placed the order online a couple of days ahead of time for 8 sandwiches, fruit salad for 10, and a dozen of Hope's cookies. They are really really busy on Saturdays so my pick up order was a little hectic. After a slight mix up, they were able to find my fruit salad tray. They couldn't find my cookies and ended up giving me a mixed assortment instead of 12 of the same. Overall still very pleased with how everything came out and will definitely use them in the future. read more

Needed something fast for lunch and found the perfect spot. I came across Wolfe's as I was looking for something quick and easy for lunch. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. They had BBQ going in the parking lot and a few folks sitting at a wooden bar outside and in their indoor seating. I got their soup of the day which was clam chowder and the Classic Signature sandwich. I asked for the soup of the day as my side for the meal. The clam chowder wasn't as thick as I would like my chowder, but had great taste. They were very generous with the amount they give you for a to-go order. The sandwich felt fresh, had great texture and was huge! for about $15, I think the soup and sandwich deal was great. They also have a case full of salads, meats and and pastas. Have always driven by this place and finally decided to stop by as I was craving a home style sandwich. The employees were kind and patient as I was deciding what to order. My tastbuds took a hard left and I landed on their pastrami on rye. Glad I did as it was delicious...so good that I missed my photo op. Pastrami has a nice cut, not too thick and not too thin and not over salted. The rye bread it rested on was equally as tasty. It has a nice crunch but soft in the middle. The seating area was just that and what's to be expected for a counter deli. It was a bit dark but that is just a side note and more importantly I really appreciated the fact that they were deep cleaning the restrooms. All in all I will definitely be back and can see why they have been around for 100 years. read more

Apparently, this place has been in existence for 100 years (although this is a brand new location for them), but still 100 years. Family owned and operated. Pretty impressive... and even more impressive is the quality of their food. Deli sandwiches are what they're known for, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the "Italiano" sandwich, which included mortadella, capacola, salami, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard & Italian dressing on a French roll. Not only was it large enough for me to only be able to eat half at one sitting, when I ate the second half for dinner, it wasn't the least bit soggy... and trust me, practically every sandwich I've ever saved for later, ends up soggy... no matter what the bread. This sandwich from Wolfe's was perfect 5 hours later, and I was so excited to be able to enjoy that second half. It came with a choice of side, and I chose potato salad. It was almost as good as how my mom used to make (she'd make the recipe off the Best Foods Mayo jar). This was only slightly off from that in terms of seasonings, but I still enjoyed it. My husband ordered a ham and swiss on sourdough, and he loved his sandwich, too. They have an impressive array of prepared foods, sides and salads that we didn't avail ourselves to (other than the potato salad), but I'm sure it's all quite good. Parking is quite easy as they have their own lot. There's a small alcove indoors if you want to eat there... or a few tables and chairs outside, as well. When we entered, we were the only ones in there. By the time we left, it was PACKED !! I'm glad we beat that lunch rush. We don't live around the corner, but I can guarantee you, when we return to Claremont, we WILL come back here for sure !! read more

I've been visiting this wonderful business since 1989 and have yet to be disappointed with the quality of any item. I love this deli and restaurant. I have only one issue and it is probably mine alone. I LOVE clam chowder, but I only like clams. The soup's flavor is so good I buy it and walk around my house peddling what seems like half a cup of extra clam meat to any takers. Talk about a first world problem... With the understanding that all items are good; I have two favorites: *Roast Beef (roasted in-house) *Cappuccino chocolate chip muffins The people helping you are even better than the food. This place is a hit and miss. I came here for the first time last week and ordered a turkey sandwich on sqaw bread which was delicious. I also ordered the grill Cesar salad with steak. It was good. However, I came back today and unfortunately my food did not taste that good. I noticed that it was a little busier today compare to last time. I placed my order and came in to pick it up. The person (I assume maybe the owner or manager) who assisted me couldn't find my order at first. I ordered a grilled cheese and a grilled cesar salad with steak again this time.
