They came out looking exactly how I anticipated them to based on what I saw in previous reviews (and the item description, which, shockingly, was painfully accurate) -- sad, and beige. First bite revealed various shades of pink, although the skin was seasoned nicely. I'm partial against this style of chicken wing so its hard for me to give it any credit... moving on. I also had the chicken kebab sandwich... which isn't really a sandwich. Its more of a ... gyro? I liked it. The chicken in the sandwich was really nice. Cooked well, definitely cooked better than the wings. Wish the cuts/pieces were smaller though. It was nice and hot, but also kind of wet, I guess from steam? It came wrapped in sort of a parchment paper, that was also wet. And the closer I got to the end, the more liquid dripped out from the bottom. Water mixed with tomato, other spices and whatnot... it wasn't pretty. I got less and less interested as I made progress. Better half got the Merguez Kebab Sandwich/gyro thing. Similar to my Chicken Kebab, the cuts of meat were huge however it was just hard to come to terms with the notion that they were each fully cooked through, and it was also... wet. More wet than my Chicken Kebab. She didn't finish it, and I don't blame her. The hummus was nice. The pita was hot and fresh. You could see some of the char from the skillet it was made in, which was nice. Unfortunate that either are individual at-cost appetizers (although looking at my receipt, I can infer that the first pita was included with the hummus as I was only charged for one and we had two). I don't think I will be returning there on my own volition. Maybe tonight was a bad night, and that happens sometimes. The staff were certainly nice, and considering it was a Saturday evening, the volume of patrons is worth appreciation. It wasn't rowdy, the music was nice, the ceiling fan blades passing over one of the ceiling lights drove me crazy a little bit, but it is a nice place. I'm just a little let down that this was how my Saturday night dinner went. I'm still hungry, dawg. There was also a woman in scrubs(?) or some sort of inpatient-wear that walked past the restaurant outside, locked eyes with the folks at a table, smiled and waved, and slowly meandered away until she came back to walk in the other direction. Not sure what that was about, but its typical New Haven shit. Stranger things have happened, lol! TLDR if you're not super picky/sensitive about your food and you're a big (gotta be big) fan of Mediterranean Fusion food, I absolutely recommend RAWA. Otherwise... hard pass -- for me, at least. Lots of seating available inside and there's a DJ and belly dancing on some evenings. The food was incredibly flavored and great portions. The pizza was surprisingly packed with chicken and pine nuts. A very interesting and delicious combo we never knew we wanted. Drinks were also a different experience with saffron mixed in. Can't wait to return and this time to catch the after hour scene! Looks like a good time and great for large groups.

Great restaurant that does both take-out and catering. They also deliver through a third party so if you feel a craving for some Ali Baba, you can still get it without driving! The food (especially the lemon chicken platter) is absolutely delicious. They have changed a little bit of what they put in the platter now. Along with the lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers they always put, they have also added feta cheese and black olives. Keep that in mind if you aren't a fan of either of those ingredients! Don't forget to ask for white and red sauce! The thing that's keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion is the price and amount of sauce they give you. The prices has recently gone up but they use plastic containers instead of Styrofoam food containers now. The portions seem to remain the same though, although I am not sure about that. Amazing, amazing food! Reminds me of the Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th in New York (I'm serious, it was that good.) I was a tad surprised that they added olives and feta cheese into it...unfortunately missed the review that someone else previously posted. In either case, both the lemon chicken platter and the combo platter from Ali Baba's Fusion are to die for. It seems they even deliver now (through Silver Spoon it seems) so maybe I can have them come to Woodbridge haha! A little pricier than before but not unreasonable. I intend to try the chicken biryani next time like another reviewer recommended. I never had any problems with the quantity of the sauce but I always for a specific amount of sauce packets anyway so never had to deal with it. Keep at it, Ali Baba's! read more

I been giving them my business since they had little kitchen behind foxon blvd and had carts only that time. I ordered a pick up today but before that i checked their prices online and lemon chicken was listed for $6. In actual it is $7.50. Now what kind of sense does it make to pay different online and in store? They are just trying to fool people. I received my order in a less than a inch deep plastic box and it sure doesn't taste or look like $7.50. I'll take my business else where. read more

Jamshed worked in the fishing industry as a young man, but dreamed of working in the restaurant business. He came to the United States in 1989 and worked for a vending machine business. He finally entered the food industry in 2000 when he started "Mughali Foods": a food cart that prepared Indian and Pakistani food. In 2003, Jamshed became the owner of Noor Mahal, an Indian restaurant in Orange, but continued to run the food cart. He sold the restaurant three years later to focus exclusively on the food cart operation. He later dubbed it "Ali Baba's Fusion" and shifted the menu to halal Middle Eastern cuisine. We were excited to try because it's only a five minute drive from our house. The newer location is nice but it is a bit on the smaller side. I would imagine that most of their business is take-out as opposed to dine-in. I ordered the "Bites Chick Bowl" (lemon chicken & beef gyro served on a base of rice & pita strips, topped w/ lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, chickpeas, cucumbers, feta cheese, drizzled w/ ABK sauce), my wife had the "Running Foodie Bowl" (ginger chicken & chicken kebab on basmati rice & pita strips, topped w/ tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, feta cheese, and ABK sauce), and we also shared some "Samosas" (with tamarind sauce and chana masala). As I've stated in a previous review, we think that the food at Ali Baba's is sensational and we plan to order from them again and again!

But for me, the star of the show Sha Khodhak. The tomato sauce was so richly flavored. Absolutely perfect and spiced to perfection. They did not skim with the chicken and they did not add an unnecessary amount of bell pepper and onion. It was perfectly balanced. The leftovers came together even more the next day. It's not too often that you come across a Tibetan restaurant so I've had this place on my list for a few months. I would like to try more of what they offer, but it's going to be hard not to order the Sha Khodhak again.

One thing however that did make me nervous about the quality here is that halal foods in Waterbury have so far been complete misses if my past reviews are to be believed. This was also my first time using Yelp to have food delivered. So let me first talk about how long it took from the time I ordered to the time I had my food delivered. The service was pretty fast. On my receipt, my order was placed at 9:33 PM. Initially, Yelp estimated my delivery time to be between 10:12 - 10:32. As of this point in my typing of this review, it is 10:11. When my order was received and confirmed to be in the works, the delivery time changed from 10:05 - 10:25. It actually took less time than that for my food to arrive! How do I know this, you might ask? At 9:56, I had decided to head downstairs from my apartment to check on my order and wait for the delivery driver. Little did I know, it had already arrived! So far, off to a great start! When I got back up to begin my dinner, I took photos first just to have something for my review tonight. I will say that the prices are actually very reasonable, but if you really want to save money, go to the restaurant and pick up the order yourself. I tipped $6.55, so my total for the delivery was $28.88. On my receipt, the total for the order itself was $16.63. If I do order from them again, I will make sure I go at a time that is not so close to closing. Onto the food. For the $16.63, it's not a bad deal. I got the cheesesteak combo, and I will say that the cheesesteak was definitely a decent sandwich. The meat by itself was seasoned well and was flavorful. When I bit into the sandwich, the cheese and mayo were the tastes that prevailed tonight. I do definitely prefer the cheesesteaks I have cooked up on my own, but this does hold its own. If I had been the one coming up with this on the menu though, I would definitely have this only have the cheese, the steak, and the onions. But still, I will say for its price you can do far worse. Once again I ordered the "Mixed Combo", my wife ordered the "Side Dishers Bowl" (chicken biryani with ginger chicken and falafel topped with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, black olives, pickled onions, tamarind sauce, ABK sauce), and we shared sides of "Samosas" (with tamarind sauce and chana masala) and "Hummus" (with pita bread pieces). We think that the food at Ali Baba's is sensational and we plan to order from them again and again!
