Incredible place. The service is attentive and friendly, ambiance is really cool, and the food is outstanding. Been here twice with my partner in crime and it's been nothing short of fantastic during both visits. The last trip was on New Year's Eve. What I loved most was the lack of New Year's hoopla that you'd be guaranteed at other spots scattered throughout the city. It's a cool and calm space. I can't sing its praises enough. Went here with a friend for drinks and dessert. The dessert was not good - the key lime pie is actually dyed bright blue which was super off-putting. The atmosphere is busy and seems fun from the outside, but once you're in there it doesn't feel as sophisticated as their menu and advertising puts out. The booth we sat in had velvet seats that had stains all over them. Only plus was that they had a great playlist. Overall, I won't be back. read more

We reserved the private room for my 30th birthday, and I want to rave about Alice! For starters, it's tough to find a space downtown that will happily accommodate 25 guests. I tried. The folks at Alice we're friendly and accommodating in many ways. Their private room was avail to us the entire evening (compared to 2-hr time blocks you'll find elsewhere), and the food, ambience, and music was all stellar. Perfect for a girls party! Although the guys loved it too. Everyone enjoyed the karaoke which was a highlight of the evening. Also, the servers were awesome! My girlfriends said they were greeted when they arrived to set up and that the servers jumped in to help. Great customer service, right?! Really torn about my rating for this restaurant. The initial reaction was horrible. The hostess greeted my party of 3 with shocking hostility for not having a reservation and made us feel completely unwelcome. She hesitantly directed us to sit at the bar yet still made us feel like we were inconveniencing her to do so. Luckily, the bartender was the complete opposite and warmly greeted us. His service was fantastic and the food was delicious. As management, I would seriously reconsider who I hired as hostesses, considering they are the face of the restaurant and the first interaction with guests. Hope they don't ruin it for others, especially given that Alice is new to the Dallas restaurant scene. read more

Ordered a few cocktails and apps at 6:45, fast forward 30 minutes still no apps the waitress said they'd be right out unfortunately by 7:45 a full hour after placing our order they had still not arrived so we tabbed out for the drinks and left. What a perfect little spot for cocktails and solid food!! From the moment you enter Alice, you can feel you are in treat for something special. Well, at least that's how I felt! I walked in and sat straight at the bar top since I didn't make reservation for the table and knew how busy they will get. Also, i always prefer direct service from the bartenders and see what they do and get recommendations from them. Jenny was working behind the bar and she was a rock star! Kept my friend and I entertained all night with delicious cocktails. We started our night with their old fashioned. It was perfectly bitter-sweet-and spicy! My next cocktail was green tea gimlet which I enjoyed the subtle flavor of tea. My friend tried their mule and she loved it. Can't compliment enough on their cocktail menu and Jenny for making them so perfectly. She recommended us to get Hamachi crudo, steamed bun, spring rolls, and salmon dish. Which we ordered all- pan Asian tapas style dishes to share and it was just right amount! I was skeptical at first since there had been few Asian inspired restaurants opening up and they didn't quite meet my expectation. However, the food at Alice is done right and they came out so quickly. We were both in awe with the intimate setting of the entire restaurant and service we received. We'll definitely be back soon to try more of their food and have some sake!! read more

We've been here 4-5 times and have really enjoyed the food, service and vibe but last night was pretty terrible. The vibe was cool as usual but everything else was way off. We knew they had a party in the back but We still waited 1.5 hrs for 3 food items all ordered at the same time at the very beginning and two didn't require cooking. Waitress who was lovely kept saying "it's coming it's coming the kitchen is backed up" but tables seated after us who ordered same items were served many rounds of food before us. We asked did the kitchen forget us and she insisted we were not forgotten. I don't get why they just couldn't get that one item out. Even after she said it's being made right now it was still another 20 minutes for tuna tartare. The hostess even noticed something wasn't right and asked if we were still waiting on food. She never apologized or really acknowledged anything was wrong. We were comped one drink - we paid the bill and two hours later left hungry and very disappointed not haven eaten the tuna. Such a fun place to go. The menu is creative, unlike any other restaurant menu. It is small plates, and sometime you will order something that is not your favorite, bu that's part of the fun.... you can try many things at a reasonable price that you have not had before. My boyfriend and I went there this past Saturday to celebrate our anniversary and everything was amazing!!!!! We ordered a bunch of stuff and it all tasted delicious. We had the yellowtail sashimi, brussels sprouts, rock shrimp, crab claws, chicken pad thai, fried rice, and beef tenderloin. My favorites were the beef tenderloin and the crab claws, but I would order them all again. The chicken pad thai did have a chili in there that I ate that had my mouth on fire so would probably just be more mindful of that next time. The dj was playing some great hits and the owner was actually working the tables and bringing food out which I loved. Couldn't recommend this place more! read more

The food is great but the service is beyond horrible. The hostess has an attitude and the servers seem to dote on other tables and make you feel neglected. We called every day for a week (because you have to call to make reservations for a party of 6 or more) and left multiple voicemails and no one returned our call. When I finally got through, the hostess was rude, never apologized and said they couldn't get us in. Food is good but not worth the rude service. read more

Delicious from start to finish. We had the Brussels sprouts, Yellowtail sashimi, crunchy shrimp (just okay), steamed buns (crispy chicken and short rib) and Wagyu Beef (too full by that point to finish). Will say that they push you to over order but food was all really good. Drink service was slow but food was on point. Alice is a wonderful addition to the Dallas culinary scene. While ma gif the city's restaurant stick to traditional fare they are following the lead of more culinary inclined urban areas and immersing themselves in Asian flavors. I've been three times since opening and their consistency, customer service, presentation, and atmosphere has been fantastic with each visit. The late 70s and 80s music adds a funky vibe to a well decorated lounge-like interior. Food is paced appropriately and well portioned for tapas style eating and the portions are adequate. A perfect spot for a date, night with friends, or just a drink at the bar. It's much more pleasing than the comparable Gung-Ho on Greenville Ave. read more

You've got to plan way in advance. Great bar and special cocktails. Best Old Fashion in town by far. Most of the menu items are large appetizer size. Very unique, special flavors. Special sauces are one of a kind. Asian Fusion at it's best. The ambiance is great, chill music. Relaxing environment. My goal is to try everything on the menu again, and again, and again. What a dream! Everything from the ambiance and decor to the food was a 10. We split quite a few plates because every dish we tried was fabulous and wanted to keep eating! Friends had been raving about Alice so we gave it a try and we had so much fun and the food was fabulous! Small location slightly off the beaten path made for a wonderful night...definitely felt like we could be in New York. Great vibe and decor, super fun 80's music backed up with great food! We let our great server Whitney choose dishes for our table and we loved everything. Our favorite were the Mongolian Beef, the Calamari (yummm the sauce!), the Tuna and the Salmon. My friend and I came here for a girl's night on October 23rd around 8/9 PM in the back room. We made a rez days in advance through opentable. Upon arriving, we were standing at the hostess stand for like 10-15 minutes waiting to be seated (we weren't late also). I was not thrilled to go here because most of the dishes included shellfish, and I have an allergy. I really love brussel sprouts. However, their sprouts are coated with an oyster sauce. I kindly informed our waitress about my allergy, as you should, and I asked if I could just get like soy sauce or ANY other sauce other than oyster sauce on the sprouts. The chick was VERY uncooperative the whole time. I'm not sure if she was just having a really bad day or if the chef is truly that unwilling to work with genuine allergies? Seems a little unfair and rude to those who aren't intentionally being picky, but have allergies they cannot control. She responded with something like, "well the sauce comes on it so it can't be taken off." I said, "okay well this is an Asian restaurant and I know very well that you have soy sauce or teriyaki sauce or honestly just put no sauce, just sautéed them with salt and pepper and I'll be happy." She hit me with a "well I can't guarantee the quality of that at all in that case." Like Jesus lady. I said "fine, I'll get the egg rolls." (Annoyed) She said, "just so you know, that comes with a side of steamed rice." I said, "okay well maybe can I have fried rice instead please?" She said no to that as well. I said, "can I not pay extra to upgrade or switch the rice or just get another side of fried rice in addition to my meal?" She said, "no, sorry you'll have to order the full portion of the fried rice if you want that." (Like 12$ if I recollect) Never have I ever experienced such an uncooperative and difficult waitress, especially at a nice-r restaurant... You'll love this place if you hate placing orders and enjoy waiting 20 minutes to be seated and another 20 waiting for a standard drink order while the bartender (who apparently was the supervisor) keeps pouring new orders. Sufficient staff was available considering less than half of the tables were taken. The tiny bit of support goes to the kitchen staff members which were the only ones to offer service. The gentleman handling the waste kindly took the time to ask a server to seat us and a kitchen staff member was the only one to apologize for the lack of service when we tried to follow up on the order. The kitchen staff had nothing to apologize for since we were just in for a nightcap after a still special night. Don't get me wrong, we appreciated the free hydration, but we were expecting a little more than a doctor's recommended glass of water. Maybe we'll give it a shot another day. Maybe by then it will be worth staying. read more

We came here at about 8:45 on a Thursday night and just a heads-up; the music is cool and 80's and loud so if you want a quiet experience come earlier. Starting out Super-NIce bartender that was kind to notice my underaged daughter and comped her a pretty pink soda drink; great bar and menu. That being said some of the best Thai/Asian cuisine I have had in a long time. I was with my daughters and we had the fried rice with shrimp which was perfect; shu mai dumplings exceptional; brussel sprouts that were spicy and sweet and I can't imagine how they made them taste so good; perfect sushi and calamari. Wonderful and sweet waitstaff; very nice gentleman coming and filling water and cleaning up your table every few minutes; just an attentive staff; perfect food, lovely and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend; just come early if you want to avoid the loud and fun 80's music. We will be back for sure, a true treasure! read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere and design of this petite place. From the music to the color scheme and lighting, everything just adds to the overall experience at Alice. And let's not forget the food. DELICIOUS! I've now tried 90% of the menu and have enjoyed all of it. Some things I recommend are the, Hamachi Crudo, Shu Mai Dumplings, Steamed Buns, and Pork Meatballs. You also can't go wrong with the noodles or the fried rice. I made a reservation at Alice for my friend's previous 25th birthday about a month or so ago. The photos online were amazing and very picturesque. I trusted the internet. Big mistake. The pictures online were unable to captivate just how small and cramped the restaurant truly is in person. The restaurant could sit (maybe) 50 people comfortably. Once our entire party arrived, the hostess led us all to the back in a much more intimate area. Our party of 9 was cramped into a corner alongside two other large tables. We ordered drinks and they all came out pretty quickly. However, when it came to ordering food, my sushi rolls were the last to come out. I also had to remind the waitress multiple times about my order. Once my food finally arrived, everyone else was already finished eating and their plates were taken away. The reservation I made was for around 8PM so I can't imagine the rest of the restaurant-goers ordering tons of food at that time. So, it was quite odd how my food was somehow forgotten about....Moreover, I booked this restaurant due to the nature of it being "Alice in Wonderland" themed -- I was severely disappointed with the lack of resemblance. I also booked this restaurant due to it being a place for karaoke as well, but according to the staff, we were unable to perform karaoke that night oddly enough -- and a reason for that wasn't given. All in all, the experience I had fell completely short of my expectations. I will not be dining there again. read more

Valet parking a plus in these crowded streets. Menu was simple and amazing. Shumai, tuna tartar, steam buns, and lettuce wraps. Shumai look liked they tried to make their own shell; A little thick but the taste was very good. Tuna tartar was elegant. Steam buns we're flavorful. Lettuce wraps were a little juicy for finger food but delicious. Added a lychee martinee for desert , a little sour but a good ending for the meal. read more

Restaurant is nice and ambiance seemed fun, but unfortunately we never were seated so this review is based on service. Our reservation was at 830. Checked in but they said our table was almost ready. We waited patiently, at 850 checked with hostess to see if we were close. She said a table was tapping out and we were next-no big deal 20 minutes late I thought. At 930 they told us a table was tapping out and we were next. At this time outside where we are waiting a valet guy is punching the window of some car trying to park next door to restaurant. Nice. 945 I am starving and no one has communicated with us what's going on. It's Friday night so we keep waiting. At 10pm I go inside frustrated and talk to manger, and she says sorry the restaurant is small but someone is tapping out your next. Again same story. 90 minutes late on a reservation and her solution was say sorry we are small restaurant but your next?! She really didn't seem to care we had been waiting that long past our reservation. If they had been honest and said we are running almost 2 hours behind I would have left and tried another day to eat there, but the way they handled the whole situation was terrible. No restaurant in the world is worth waiting that long past reservation time. read more

Horrible!! Very disappointed. I re-activated my account for the sole purpose of writing this review. We went to Alice the week it opened and the food was amazing. We have raved to our friends about the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Our parents came to town and we thought this would be the best place to celebrate her birthday. Upon arriving for an 8pm reservation, we were told we could get a drink till the table was ready. 25 mins later we were finally seated..... The food was nothing like we remembered it was HORRIBLE. There was a fried chicken bun special BUT we weren't told it was spicy and non of us eat spice. The chicken yakatori was completely burnt; each piece was entirely charred and inedible. Lastly, I told the hostess that we were celebrating a birthday thinking they would extend this information to the waitress; it must have never been relayed. I really thought this place was amazing from the first time I went but the food has gone downhill and the entire dinner process seemed rushed so they could seat the next guest. read more

Me friends and I came here after getting horrible service at a different restaurant and this place completely turned our night around. The drinks? Exceptional. The service? Immaculate. They had a DJ and he didn't play a single bad song all night. It was so much fun and the staff is so friendly and attentive. Trish was our server and we loved her! Amazing place.
